Hi everybody,

I did good today. That brocolli soup is filling. I had lean steak for dinner, watched my portion, cucumber/tomato salad and brocolli again. I need that fiber.

Jackie~~(or anyone) why is it better to take the cal/mag at bedtime?

dede~~Is that how you spell it, mumus. I swear, I remember my mother, grandmother, my sister and me wearing them. My sister and I were young. Or maybe that was just what my mom called them. Oh gosh, now I remember the tent dress style. That came back in style last year and it was called "baby doll", hahaha

Okay, I need a little meal help. First, I had that extremely despicable crepe from Nasty's-ville in the book. Maybe I made it wrong. Is the oatmeal supposed to be cooked or dry?? It was so disgusting. I couldnt' choke it down. Gave it to the dogs. Here's my deal: I've got 4 teenage boys plus a husband to feed, and I'm having a little struggle cooking two meals so to speak. The boys are easy eaters - but I can't afford to feed them all fish or steaks every night! hahaha. My husband likes this WOE and is enjoying "our" dinners, but I need some help with ideas for meals that I can toss off to the boys. Any ideas? Thanks. And please give me the name of a vanilla protein powder that doesn't taste disgusting. Please.

Lots of folks don't like the crepes...I personally never tried them. I'm OK with oatmeal and strawberry Atkins shake

I know Kelley17 likes the Jay Robb protein powder...I have not tried it. I got a brand (don't remember the name) and it was like chalk YUCH!! I'll stick with the pre-made Atkins

Jackie has some wonderful recipes...and check out the recipe thread (link is on the third post of this thread) Hopefully that helps I feed my kiddos "different" foods as well (most of the time).

Good Luck!!

Starbucks

Does anybody know what you can have from Starbucks in week one and then week two? My friend recently started on this plan and she is dying for a Starbucks.

Thanks for your response.

Linda: Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer and it helps you get into a deeper sleep. Calcium is needed by every system of our body, not just our teeth and bones, so it is important to take it at the same time we take the magnesium for maximum absorption of the calcium. It is important that your calcium contain vitamin D in addition to the magnesium.

Americano with a Sugar Free syrup and some half and half. It is yummy! Some people also put in their milk chocolate or caramel cafe or mocha latte' protein shakes in their americanos.

Just for you, Alissa

Here's a couple of pictures that I hadn't posted yet. The first is greens (we love it with sauteed kale) and beans tacos with salsa and corn tortillas, great for carb up day. Delicious!

The second is a grilled veggie pizza. Another great for carb up day with a glass of red wine. The pizza was a cheese pizza from Wal-Mart or Kroger and I just added the grilled veggies. They are so much better when you grill them first then put them on the pizza! We love this pizza!

Well, here is post #15...I'll get up to 60 sooner or later.

So day 2 went much better...I still needed 7 meals, and I just did a mini workout and now I feel hungry again! I did weigh myself today...just for the hell of it and I lost 2 lbs! I am PMSing this week too, so I was surprised (although, not too surprised because I peed like a race horse all day yesterday)!. I know it will all be water this week...but it was nice to see the scale number move again!

W6D3.... Weigh in day....

'Mornin', Alissa- sorry- have I been neglecting you? Just skimmed everything last night. I was exhausted, guess a CFS flare, as I really didn't overdue yesterday- today is a very busy day....
The thread goes so quickly it's hard to keep up!
Happy about your money and the house- let us know when you get an answer- either way we will be here to root for you!!!

I can eat a meal or snack, forget about it, and not obsess over the next thing I will put in my mouth! THAT's a BIG improvement for me!

Hope all is well with everyone.
So much good news at once- you are healing so well! Things really look good for you- just don't overdo it!

Keep the faith for the eight weeks that is what I keep telling myself
I can do eight weeks, I can do it ,yes I will do it
Nina
Keep it up- 8 weeks is really the thing to do, and you will see so many benefits (even if the scale doesn't cooperate) you will be sold (besides all the wonderful support from the thread!) on this WOE- when things get really hard, just ask yourself- what's the alternative? I was a miserable mess b4 I started, and even though I've lost only about 6 lbs in almost 2.5 months (5.5 weeks net clean eating because of Jewish holiday month...) I've lost countless inches, and feel so much better , and in control of my eating. No going back for me!!!
Can't wait to see what a full clean cycle can do for me!!

Off to weigh in and get dressed- don't go away- I will probably need a shoulder or two to cry on!!!

So Fwustwated!!!

Still stalled at that "lowest " weight... Though I do weigh 1 lb less than last Wed, I weigh the same as last Fri.....
I have never been so thin at such a high weight. Where is it hiding?
Total loss is now 5.74 lbs... for 5.5 net weeks- that's a lb a week, including correcting the damages of holiday weeks....
Well, I am better off than when I started.... much better off.... but it's so sad and frustrating.
This is not fair to the rest of you that I've preached to... sorry....

But I am not giving up.......

Thanks Alissa for the tips . . . . I'm liking the chocolate premade shakes as well. But some of the recipes call for a scoop of vanilla protein powder. I'll check out the Jay Robb stuff. Having a hard time finding the EZ bread as well. Guess it's at a health food store, and not the regular grocery??? At least not Albertsons. . . . .

Sorry Tam!!!

Now, I would say if you were not a daily weigher, you would only have this Wed to compare with last Wed and you would be happy to be down a pound Tam, little by little...it goes down...and when it does it is *real* fat you are losing!

Big Hugs Dear Friend

I AM SO PROUD OF YOU FOR STICKING WITH IT!!!

Your welcome Kim! Try looking in the frozen foods section...especially in the frozen/refrigerated section in the health foods area. Post your local and ask if anyone is in the same area...you might be surprised who else is in your area and can help you with the local stores!!

just getting in and trying to catch up. Val I would like your excel sheet.
lgc@pdq.net

I know it must be frustrating to watch that scale. Man I avoided scales at all cost growing up and with my last boyfriend. He was a skinny thing and always hopping on the scale cause he was trying to gain weight. Then he would bug me to hop on. No way. I've just never needed a scale to tell me I was over weight. I have eyes and the sense that god gave me.

the only time I was interested was when I got down to size 8 jogging. Twice I did this and then I really wanted to get to 150 but never could get the scale to tip past that. Then I would just let it get away from me. This will be the last time. I'm learning what it takes to have the body I want. I won't be so foolish to gain it back this time.

I'm off to bed. Hope the kiddies are all on their way to be well again. goodnight ladies.

Kim, did you make the crepe in the blender? You really have to blend it until the oatmeal is smooth. I also add a couple of tbsp of pumpkin and cinnamon. The batter must be kind've thin too. dede

Mornin Crackers

Tam,please don't be discouraged! I'm starting to realize that what everyone says is true: the scale is NOT your friend! Are you measuring? I measured my waist this morning and it is 1in. smaller than 2 days ago! My weight is the same however. I feel like a success mainly because I now have control. Eating healthy has become automatic. Remember what Wendy says, that this is an 8 week plan for a reason. We're changing our metabolism. dede

Julie-Great news about your knee. You'll be unstoppable now!

Good Morning -

Well today was "official" weigh in and I am way up from when I weighed yesterday (). So I am up 1.5 from last week. I am not discouraged because I am keeping on and feel I am better control and will continue to get more control over what goes in the big trap. I am starting an exercise program with another lady also. Next spring I am planning on doing the C2k as now with snow and ice here I have no place to do that.

I do think too my weigh gain this week has something to do with water retention even though I have been drinking my water. My hand feels tight and for lack of better word bloated today. I was hungry last night before supper (i think TOM is on its way) so I had a handful of peanuts. Well I love peanuts but peanuts don't like me. No more peanuts for me.. don't like this feeling in my hands. They had some salt on them, and I usually only ever had the unsalted.

Keeping on..

carb up day

Well today is carb up day and I almost forgot that it was! ha. I think that's a good sign and just another example that this WOE works. Food does not dominate my every thought anymore. Yea! I won't go 'crazy' eating;just relax and listen to my body as to what it wants to eat. Feeling good! Since there isn't anyone to play with here, guess I'll go get ready for work. Have a great day! dede

Another newbie

Good Morning, everyone.

I just started the WOE on Monday. Yesterday, I was home from work because of back spasms (ouch!), so I read most of the book and worked up a rough schedule for the next 4 weeks. I also skimmed through a lot of these threads. So I have a question:

Carb up days you have you main starches after 3:00 p.m., although in the menu she lists 1/2 bagel for breakfast. I usually just have a clean carb in the morning and wait for the heavier carbs after 3 p.m. So yes, carb up days are the ones you get starting with week 2.

Sara
I hope that the e-book isn't messed up - but - it says that starches must be eaten BEFORE 3pm. Which is correct?

Welcome...glad to have you join us. That's Baseline days that the two carbs have to be BEFORE 3PM. Hope that helps.

Week 2, Day 3

Good morning all....

Can't even remember if I posted at all yesterday....busy day and just trying to get caught up this morning.

Hope all the little crackerettes are feeling better (Kelley, Kelly and Pam)...so hard to see the little ones sick

Alissa...hope no news on the house is good news....unless maybe I missed a post somewhere.

I am enjoying the freedom of Week 2, compared to Week1. Had the french toast on Monday and my steel cut oatmeal yesterday with the strawberry Atkins. Just had two slices of EZ toast this morning with my scrambled egg beaters and gonna add some kidney beans to my leftover spaghetti squash concoction from Monday night....even went out to eat yesterday for both lunch and dinner and had no problem staying legal. I love this WOE...and I haven't even made it to a carb up day yet!

I'm having a hard time staying off the scale (a daily addict, I admit) and have seen it go up both yesterday and today despite being legal. But I will join on the bandwagon with everyone else and stick to plan for the 8 weeks. I did manage to get to the Y yesterday for a water fitness class....what a workout! I realize just how deconditioned I am. Gonna water walk for an hour tonight also (working the rest of the week so can't get there during the day). I'm sure the extra activity will help and it's about all I can do with this knee of mine.

Well, have a good one, ladies!

I'm seriously discouraged but trying hard to keep it to myself since DD started and I want to support her. I can't seem to keep the scale down even tho I've been very careful about portions, eating exactly right and all of that. *sigh*

Pam
Oh, Pam... I could sign under your post As I wrote to Nina, let's all just hang on until the end of week 8 - I am sure we will see some results. I lost 7 # week 1, was up 2# on week 2 and then lost 1.5# week 3. My clothes fit about the same. Just like you said, there's some difference in the way everything fits but not much.

I am trusting our "elders" when they say that one day/week we might shed a lot (or shrink). Hang in there

I do think too my weigh gain this week has something to do with water retention even though I have been drinking my water. My hand feels tight and for lack of better word bloated today. I was hungry last night before supper (i think TOM is on its way) Keeping on..
Carla, good for you for staying on. I was up from week 1 too (see post above). Then I lost a bit again. My TOM is slow but coming so I feel like a water balloon now even though I drink a TON of water. I actually had to cut back because, according to the hydration calculator that Alissa posted, I was drinking 3 times the amount that I needed Good luck!

Hi gibster! Glad to have you with us. I believe your question was answered. Good luck with the program. I know you will like it!!!

Kelley17 - How is your girl doing?

Val - Congrats on your progress. I know it didn't come easy to you and it was a bit frustrating. I am glad you are still with us and your organizational skills make me jealous. Good job!

Julie - Glad you are feeling better and I thank you for being so encouraging about this program.

Alwaysdancing - Loved your little joke and laughed out loud That was me getting ready to do my first callanetics class. It took me longer to get dressed for it than to actually do it. Everything seemed so easy until I...fell over

Tam, Julie, dede, Gemini Linda - we seem to be on the same schedule. Every morning I know that I will find your lights on.

Re=posting this - PLEASE HELP

I am on week 4, day 3 today. I have to go to a function on Thursday(baseline) and then on Friday(carb down).

Can I do the following:
scenario #1
Wed - carb down
Thur - CARB UP
Fri -CARB UP
Sat - baseline
Sun - baseline (back on schedule),*

OR
scenario #2
Wed - carb down
Thur - CARB UP
Fri - baseline (this day I will have more "food control" than on Thursday)
Sat - carb down
Sun - CARB UP
(the issue that I see with scenario #2 is that week 5 is my Accelerate week and if I carb up on Sunday I will go right into two carb down days in that week). I have no problem with that but I want to make sure it's not going to hurt my progress.
