Thank you for the welcome. I was wondering how much I should expect to loose in the eight weeks if I am 100lbs overweight. My parents are coming out to my house in Colorado from California for Christmas. They both had gastric bypass this year I am very happy for them. I really want to be able to loose the lb's without surgery. My husband is also on the plan with me which makes it a lot easier. We are so looking forward to our First D day on Sunday. I am open to any advice on how to make week two better.

Hi Carla. There is a difference. Carb up is the day you will get on Wednesday and Saturdays in which you get to have the sub sandwich, pizza etc. Cheat Day you can eat whatever you want, whenever you want. So you don't have to eat every 3-4 hours or limit the amounts etc. High Carb (my mistake this past weekend) you eat the approved carbs throughout the day, you do not have to wait until after 3 p.m. and you do not get desserts and alcohol. I hope this clears it up.

Clear on all but the don't have to wait until after 3 pm part. If I remember correctly cheat days don't happen until quite a few weeks into program right? Carb up days you get two starches at last two meals do I got that right? You can't have two carb up days back to back though I would assume?

Cheat and High Carb days happen on the weekends of maintenance only.

Carb up days you have you main starches after 3:00 p.m., although in the menu she lists 1/2 bagel for breakfast. I usually just have a clean carb in the morning and wait for the heavier carbs after 3 p.m. So yes, carb up days are the ones you get starting with week 2.

I'm in week three now -- so in thinking about .. i didn't mess up last weekend as bad as I thought I had pasta for supper on sunday night and was thinking I did a no no.. but prior to that I didn't have any starches during the day.
However I am not dwelling on it just keep going. Love the quote that you can't "mess up" on the this plan.

Good suggestion

That is a good idea to weigh on wed becasue last week I was down 2 lbs on wed but when I weighted in on mon morn I had not lost any weight. You will go up and down after the carb up days. I am the queen of the scale addiction I know these things lol

1 minute muffins are a great breakfast, legal on any day!!!! I have one every day, and so does my son (11) (weighs about 55 lbs, but loves them anyways!), and we never tire of them.
Best time to weigh yourself is first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking, and after using the bathroom. Any other time , you will weigh more.
Best day is Wed morning, which is as far as possible from carbing up...
Take it easy on cheese sticks, especially full fat ones.... they are officially fats....

Remember something I said earlier:

Your body will add water at first to 'fill in' the spots where the fat came off (anyone have the link to that post??) - you'll lose it later. Keep working the program.

And let me repeat - if you are honestly working the program, then that 3 pound gain must be water.

WATER WATER WATER

(Say it with me....) AND WATER FLUSHES!

Your body uses water to cushion the impact of all the toxins, hormones, and waste products released into your blood stream by the fat loss. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED!

We're here for you

I love this menu design...WENDY...TAKE A NOTE!
The way the menus are shown in the book are hard to follow...not so clear.
It would be great if they had a PDF file that you could download in this format....in other words, if you could see the "big picture" of each week's plan.

Maybe I will design one!

Kelley, hope the meds are kicking in for your DD. Sick kidlets aren't fun.

So what are you supposed to eat when you just don't feel like eating? I'm on Week 4, so today is supposed to be a C day. I guess I'm not doing too badly, I did choke down a salad, protein shake and 2 slices EZ toast with a little PB and sugar free jam. I just hate cooking and eating when sick and at this point we don't have hot water to do much cleaning.... the kids had cereal last night and I didn't eat. I'm not sure what we'll have tonight. This is the part about dieting I hate, trying to figure out what to eat when you don't want to. Maybe we'll have chick-fil-a... i know i can have a grilled chik salad from there and the kids love their nuggets.

I have called the school twice today, her teacher called me back and said she's doing really well without any accidents. I just hope the meds are kicking in and we can get back on track. She'd been mostly accident free for the last few months, so I hope this isn't a set back.

I talked to whirlpool and they said it sounds like the regulator has gone bad, $15 for overnight delivery and it'll be here tomorrow. I just hope DH can fix it easily. I'm planning a trip to my moms this evening for hot showers.

Hi Everyone!!!!

It's a good news day for me!

First of all, I don't know how much weight I've lost, and it doesn't matter because my pants are loose, my undies fit, the upper arms of tight blazers are loose, and I'm in control of my eating! I can eat a meal or snack, forget about it, and not obsess over the next thing I will put in my mouth! THAT's a BIG improvement for me!

Secondly, I was looking on the website for my fitness center at the university, and found out that they have a C25K CLASS!!!!! (Bad news is it already started in October and ends early December. Won't resume til January, but that's ok because some of us Crackers want to start around Thanksgiving and have our podcasts ready. I think it's really a personal thing, so I don't know how a class would work.)

Thirdly, I had my follow up appointment for my knee today and I was told that I had so much mobility and flexibility at this point that I DON'T need to go to physical therapy! I have the go-ahead to start exercising with the elliptical, stationary bike, nordic trac, rowing machine, weight circuits (but not where you lift the weight with your ankles for your quads),and lap pool (swimming)! I just have to be reasonable and listen to my body - not push past pain because right now pain means DON'T DO IT! I can keep stretching my calves and bending my knee, like I have been doing since day 2. I even saw the scope pictures they took of the inside of my knee - a before and after shot. It was SOOOOO cool! I'm going to take them to school and show the kids who want to see. They are not gross pictures. ANYWAYS, I can work up to brisk walking and then RUNNING!!! Also, we talked about taking glucosamine chondroitin for joint health, and I'm going to try that. SOOOOO COUCH to 5K, here I come! I just don't know when I'll be able to start.

Fourthly, my student teacher is going to figure out how to use the Smart Board and teach me how to use it for some of my Science lessons! That's a HUGE technology jump for me!

Fifthly, I just feel happy today. God has been so good to me and I'm so grateful for a day like today. I will accept it as a gift because tomorrow could be the pits!

Gotta run. I have to throw together a portable protein shake and get ready to go to Bible Study. We're studying Acts, and it's really interesting! Last year we studied the women of the Bible and it was fascinating. I learned a lot about the women AND myself!

you all! Talk to you later tonight. I'll be back after 9:00.

Hope all is well with everyone.

I'm trying very hard to stay away from the scale but I'm not feeling much of a difference in my clothes (some yes, but not much) so I looked. I'm back up to 1 lb under starting weight. I'm seriously discouraged but trying hard to keep it to myself since DD started and I want to support her. I can't seem to keep the scale down even tho I've been very careful about portions, eating exactly right and all of that. *sigh*

I get the same feelings you are, all the time as I gained three pounds in week two and lost none in week three.
Are you exercising??

Keep the faith for the eight weeks that is what I keep telling myself
I can do eight weeks, I can do it ,yes I will do it

I'm seriously discouraged but trying hard to keep it to myself since DD started and I want to support her. I can't seem to keep the scale down even tho I've been very careful about portions, eating exactly right and all of that. *sigh*

Pam and Nina I lost week one 8 pounds, then gained a pound and then nothing until maintenance when I lost the pound gained plus 2 more. I guess I was not eating enough. It gets frustrating when you see others lose consistently and you don't, but the inches will show. So keep the faith. Do commit for the full 8 weeks.

Thanks Nina and Sara. I am exercising - more regularly than I ever have actually. I'll watch how much I'm eating too - I am not hungry often anymore but I'm still eating regularly. I'll keep at it and trust that something has to happen.

Oh, I'm in week 3.
