w4 D1 13 lbs lost

welcome Serena! You will love the results of week 1. Yeah it's tough and can be boring but it's your biggest loss and you lose your cravings for anything. That alone is worth it. I'm on week 4 and I swear the time flew. In 3 weeks I've lost 13 lbs and one pants size and haven't been hungry or tempted once so how can you lose........

Just taking a water break so need to get back to painting my deck, it's looking so nice so worth all the sore muscles.

I made it through

another work party. It was the b-day of a co-worker and all kinds of snacky foods were brought in today. I must have passed them 10 times today and told myself they were off limits. It was hard but not as hard as I thought it would be. I told myself that I had to get through day 1, wk. 1, w/o cheating. And I did it. I had my cottage cheese snack at 10:15 and not I'm off to have my chicken salad. One day at a time.

I had to do basically the same thing. I had to not eat and then be on clear for a day and a half. But everyone told me to just eat like I was suppose to that night and continue on with the plan. So I did and it seems to of been fine. I think I was on my week 2.

I started CTFLC back in July 2008 after reading it in First Magazine and lost 20 lbs in 8 weeks. I wanted to do another 8 weeks right away, did 1 week and realized it was too much for me and then quit.

After 2 months break I am ready again and am doing carb down this week. I am very excited and hoping to lose at least another 10 lbs by the end of the year.

Hubby and I are thinking of having more kids next year so better get skinny and all before another baby.

The program works you just have to stick to it and have a buddy to help you in tough times.

See you around and glad to hear many of you are having great results so far.
Jassy, OK this it too funny - I just mentioned your name last night because I was looking for the millet seed bread recipe and I thought you were the one who posted it a Looooonng time ago. What a coincidence LOL! Welcome back! There are still quite a few of us June/July starters on here, so you may recognize a few of the names. We got a load of great "newbies" after the Woman's World article last month. Hope the great results everyone is having helps to get you back in the swing of things faster. Good Luck

I too haven't really had any cravings. I man-handled a whole bag of halloween candy and was pleased that I didn't want even one thing. I was even going to allow myself to eat one thing and decided against it. I just really didn't want it. NSV for sure.

Protein frozen mousse.... oh YUMMY! That sounds good. You'll need to post the how-tos.

Speaking of yummy shakes, I made a vanilla shake with water, ice, swig of DaVinci's SF Kahlua and splash of half/half as dessert last night. IT WAS REALLY GOOD! I think that would make a good frozen dessert to eat with a spoon too.

I too want to try to eat 'clean' this week. I'm thinking my problem is not enough meals and too long in between. I was disappointed last night, I cooked a YUCKY dinner. I attempted stirfry with beef, mushrooms, cabbage, broccoli. It was HORRIBLE, the meat was dry, it didn't have any taste. We didn't have any soy sauce in the house, so I tried some chipotle tabasco, that didn't help, then I tried some italian dressing, one bite and the entire plate went to the dog. I made a similar stirfry for my family minus the cabbage plus brown gravy. They didnt' eat it either.

So I need to figure out some dinner suggestions.

I also need to figure out how to get exercise in this week. I have been meaning to get to the gym to sign up again. It's anytime fitness so they are open 24x7. Unfortunately, the manager is only there from noon until 5pm so I have to find time in the afternoon to make it there to sign up and then I can go whenever I want after that. I'm thinking I can drop the kids off at school at 7:30, head straight to the gym (couple of minutes from school), work out for an hour and head to the house to work. I could start my workday at 9am and be ready to go since exercise would already be checked off my list.

I just need to do it.

Gonna run and eat my egg sandwich since my eggs are finally boiled and bread defrosted.

P.S. Did I mention that my dog (Dallas - retriever) likes EZ bread... he jumps up to the counter and steals them. Talk about expensive dog treats.
You crack me up about the dinner and dog. I'm sure the bread was gone in one gulp and he never even tasted it!

I am 5'5" and unfortunately weigh 229 pounds as of this morning. Besides weighing 264 when I gave birth to my daughter a year ago, this is the heaviest I have ever been. Even though I want to lose weight for my daughter and my husband, I am going to be selfish and say that I really want to lose weight so I can look hot, buy clothes, feel great, be healthy, and just plain look good (and skinny).

So today is my first day, I have not read the book, just listening to what my mom tells me. I do have the book so I guess I will try reading it soon.
Welcome Sarens!! Read my signature lines. I was in the same boat as you - I'm 5'3" and had lots to lose after having my son (who is now almost 9). You can do this! You'll have all the supposrt you need right here, so you're already off to a great start. Come back anytime you have a question. There is always someone here to help you out. Good Luck!

Follow the diet that your doc has put you on until your test if over. Tomorrow should be a "C" day for you anyway. right? You'll be fine. Just start your day as planned whenever you are back on solid foods again.

Here is my millet bread recipe

Ingredients:
1-1/2 cup millet flour (could not find millet flour so just bought regular millet, cooked it in water like rice 1/2 cup only, drain it and add to the rest of the ingredients. You will not have to add as much of water).
1/2 cup soy flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup honey
1 cup water

Preheat oven to 375-degrees. Grease one 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Pour in cooking oil, honey, and water. Stir completely until mix is thick and moist.

Spoon batter into loaf pan.

Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour or until tester comes out clean.

Texture is like cornbread but its still very yummy, feels like a desert when eating.
Jassy welcome back!! This sounds good. I wonder if I can substitute oat flour instead of the Soy flour. I have all the other ingredients on hand.

Wow...good for you! That's a pretty big temptation to face on day 1 and you can be proud you made it through. I guess that's probably the key to all of this....one day (meal, temptation) at a time.

The 15th will be you day 20 right? I say have the cookie, but contro your portion. Also, since it is a carb up day, make sure you excercise or else you will be limited to just one SA meal and I don't think you want to waste your SA meal on just a cookie! Do your excercise and you could have your pizza or spaghetti for dinner and your cookie as your last "meal". Try to get some typee of protein with it though. Hope this helps

Welcome and this board will help keep you motivated. I know when I think now of something I read the book and then ask here. I also think of having to confess if I do something wrong on plan and don't want to do that These gals on here (don't think we have any guys??) are a wealth of knowledge and support.

Hi Everybody! I got an email from Wendy asking for a favor from you guys:

Jerri if you could ask the low carb friends to click on the link below, then when they get to the blog click on the title and leave a comment… I need some good comments there so Oprah will see them and Amazon will give us more press.. thanks my friend

Amazon Kindle's Blog

I wrote a comment in the blog and also told them about this forum because we think that all of you are so awesome and supportive. Also, if we ever do catch Oprah's eye, I'm hoping that the producers would recognize some of you folks also.

QOTD - What's the scoop on nuts?

I know they are considered a fat, but the book says avoid eating too many too often.

I do really well with portioning them out and not eating too many. I was thinking they might be a good "portable" snack to keep them portioned in baggies in the car for gymnastic and biblestudy days. Those days in particular I go a LONG time between lunch (1pm) and dinner (8pm). And it seems I'm not really hungry mid afternoon, but tend to get the munchies around 6-7pm. I figured a nibble of nuts in the car might help. Also weekends are tough, we tend to only eat 2 meals, brunch and dinner. Thankfully I'm not hungry in between and don't have any cravings, but my brain says I should eat something and thought maybe that would keep me from over indulging (I think I've done well so far, but having some options on hand might be a good thing).

Treadmill at least 4 times a week.

Strength exercises 3 times.

I've always walked with some running on the treadmill, using the incline etc., but I did download the C5K podcasts so I can bump things up a bit and start running more. Walking with spurts of running is really good. Bottom line is that you warm up for 5 min, walk/run 20 min and cool down for another 5, min of 3 X's a week. Alissa is really into it. She and Kelley are old timers using the C25K program. Jackie has now downloaded it and I think Julie will be getting back into running also.

I guess so, give it a try, why not. I have been playing with recipes for a long time. There is always room for improvement.

When I did my 1st round (July/ August 2008) I did not go to gym not even 1 day, no exercise and lost 20 lbs. I did this on purpose. I wanted to see does this program work without any exercise and it does. So even if you exercise 2-3 times a week you will see more changes.

Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for the warm welcome! ... I'm on Week 1, Day 3 -- slump day -- and hanging in there. I will be so excited when I get through this week. =)

For exercise, I generally work out 5-6 days a week for 45 minutes to an hour, mostly walking while listening to audiobooks. (I have a chronic pain condition and can't do anything overly intense or my condition will flare up.)

Have a good one all,
Shannon
