Wk 1, Day 1

I have a question for all of you pros. As I posted earlier, I had a challenging day w/a work party but hung tough! Anyway, since about 3 pm I've had this nagging headache on the top of my head. Also, I feel extremely sluggish. How long does this last? I'm not feeling too hot tonight.

Thanks for your help.

I am also Week 1 Day 1 and I am surprised that I don't feel the same way you so. Past attempts at low carb/protein have left me very tired and feeling sick and shaky, so I know what you are going through. I have heard that the 3rd day on CTFL is the worst. Good Luck, I am nervous about it.

Week 2 Day3

Ok Ya'll- I am hungry today! Wonder why? I think I might have sabotaged myself this morning right at the beginning by not having enough protein at breakfast. I have been fighting the munchies since I got home at 5:30. I am on my 3rd glass of iced tea. Anyone got any ideas? You know as I look at it myself- I am seeing that I just didn't have enough protein at my meals. Guess that is what my problem is. Bet I do tomorrow!
And- I am sooooooooooooooo afraid of gaining! These carbs are really scary ya'll to someone who has been low carbing for so long.
Thanks for all of the help on here.
Have a great night all!

Day 5 was the worst for me, but it passes! That sugar withdrawal headache is a bear. I drank more water and took a couple tylenol.

I read the words "baked oatmeal" on here somewhere...anybody got a recipe that passes muster? Or should I ask on a different board?

I got headaches the first week almost everyday I took ibuprofen which helped and I usually needed a snack. I didnt have any in week two.
Hang in there it gets better. I felt like I was detoxing week one.

I had a few days that were sluggish and had a headache. It's called the "shift" that Wendy talks about in her book. Make sure you're drinking lots of water and take something for the headache. It will pass.

I felt a bit "loopie" all week 1. I also had blurred vision and had trouble sleeping. I think I had the "shift" on my day 6 (most have it on day 4). It'll pass - hang in there. Drink a lot of water. I found that VERY helpful! Keep hanging tough - it'll pass

Well, as I posted earlier, I lost .5 pounds last week for a total of 11 pounds over the past two weeks! That is wonderful!

I had training today at work, so I didn't get my snacks and stuff in right and I definitely did not have enough water. I've got to really work on that one. I know that will keep the weight from coming off.

Went to work out tonight after work and just got home. I did the C25K again and loved it! I absolutely love that I'm running again even if it is just for little spurts!

I'm going to go to bed. I'm so tired I can't hardly keep my eyes open and I've got to be at work early in the morning. Teaching all day long.

Have a wonderful night everyone!

Wow Jerri I didn't expect you to show up and answer... what a great early birthday present!

I have completed my C for today and look forward to my cheatday tomorrow and then the B, C, C. I would not have given myself that B after a cheat day. Thanks for popping by at exactly the right time for me.

And all you other crackers, thanks for chiming in too! It's really nice here.

If you have headaches in the 1st week, I used tiger balm instead of Tylenol, it makes me calm and relaxed.

Drinking lots of water works as well and today I killed my sugar cravings by drinking 3 different glasses of tea, green tea, peppermint tea, green tea with jasmine ( no sugar of course) and made me forget about snacking on junk food.

Week 1 Day 1 done.....thank heavens

Wow...12 pages and it's only Monday...this board is hopping!

Day 1 is done....six more to go. I feel good tonight but have had 100oz of water today and six meals...think that helps. I've had a nagging headache for the last week and finally without one today. I know when I did this before Day 3 wasn't fun but I think if you make a concentrated effort to have all your protein, eat all your meals and drink plenty of water it helps.

My rough time is after dinner and saved my cottage cheese for around 8PM...mixed it with some almond extract, cinnamon and 1/2 packet of Splenda and had it with a cup of hot herbal tea. That or a chocolate protein shake seems to get me through the evening.

Hi all!
I just finished doing my grades for report cards. I can't believe it's that time already.
Surgery is tomorrow morning - I'm kind of nervous, so I think I'll stay up and knit awhile.
Hope everyone had a great day. Missed you all, since I've been doing grades all evening and not posting!
Later all!

ALISSA I forgot you would still be up - 3 hour time difference from me! Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I fully rely on God and know I'm under his protective wing.

I'm just kind of wired from working on grades all evening and fighting with the computer grade book program to register my report cards. Was a slow as molasses and I was afraid I'd miss the midnight window, when the ability to enter grades closes. But I made it, and now I can relax.

After school, I bought myself two skeins of wool yarn in lovely shades of autumn colors - makes me think of Ohio in the fall with the gorgeous trees - to make a scarf. So I think I'll start it to make sure my needles are large enough for it. I love yarn - it has its own personality!

Anyways, off to knit and then off to sleep!

Prayers and Happy thought for Julie Tomorrow :)

Der Julie,

I have heard knitting is an exercise in relaxation...I would love to learn sometime Today was a difficult day out here...but tomorrow will be better and I have a strong resolve not to be down about anything. Since finding God, Joy is my constant companion. Barbara Johnson (not sure if you know who she is...Christian Author of the likes of Erma Bombeck ) said something once that still resonates with me today...

"Joy is not the absence of strife, but the presence of God"

A beautiful thought for you my friend...

~Alissa

Tam! on the sweater! And you have been so down on yourself lately! Tsk=tsk! The protein jello/pudding dessert thinking sounds really good! I look forward to giving it a try. I used to put sour cream in my jello and mix . Maybe I will try using vanilla protein drink in it and see what happens.

Congrats Vicki Lynn on your blood pressure. I have successfully lowered my nightly dose of Lantus from 12 to 7 U with this WOE. I also take less of one of my two oral meds. To me, that is the most important thing - my health is improving!

Sarena - I started guessing with your first post that based on where you lived and Sarena vs Sara that SaraB might be Mom! We love her! And I am sure we will love you too!
Good job Trish! You had a tough day one and you made good decisions for yourself! The rest of the week should be a breeze!

Naomi, just keep on truckin' on. Life happens. If you let this mistake get in your way and say to heck with it, I can't do it, then you lose. Don't worry about the apple bar, just keep on doing what you should do![

Julie, we will all have you in our prayers tomorrow. You will be fine! Go to sleep with positive thoughts and God's love in your heart! Have fun knitting and enjoy watching that yarn become something! I crochet, but knitting is not in me! Love seeing something come together!

You guys get so far ahead of me it is hard to get caught up! Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!

Connie

w4 D1 13 lbs lost

Hi Everyone I went and posted a letter on Amazon’s blog too!
Serena I’m pretty sure we drove the leaders here crazy with our worrying about week 2 you’ll be under control because you’ll lose your cravings and you can make smart decisions.
Hi Lani, I haven’t even tried any junk food what so ever, since I have control to say no I do.
No Mammapo you won’t have to do week 1 again, but you do have to decide
how to say no because when people hear your working on losing weight
You become a challenge. This past week I’ve turned down 4 cakes made special for me. I just cut them all up and handed them out and no one noticed I left myself out.
Well Kydanae it seems you are starting week 1 with experienced ladies so
looks like we have leaders in front of us and behind us. We ladies in the middle feel safe.
Pam proud of your attitude, tell your husband to suck it up he’ll lose
In good time.
Hang in there Vladis, your gonna wake up and find none of your clothes fit.
Sarena I bet your mom is so happy you started. My daughter was going to but she wanted to eat Halloween candy. Gonna have to get her on here.
Nana 4 1/2 lbs are gone, here comes the rest. Nina remember to give it the whole 8 weeks time will tell with us all.
Level 10mom I’m sorry to hear you have a headache. I think some others did too. Make sure you are drinking lots of water and getting your protein.
Susi I’m sure the protein and water are what’s keeping me craving free!
Good luck tomorrow Julie, prayers going with you.
Dede how are you doing? I'm afraid to go to sleep I'll never catch up to these posts. my deck turned out very pretty, I'm trying to give it a cottage feel so you all are invited to tea some time in the future.

I am still here but just can't seem to stay caught up with everyone!

Kelley - thanks for the advice. i will do what you and Alissa say since i trust you and i know you know what you are doing.

When i went into curves today, the manager said to me "Wow, you just keep getting slimmer everytime i see you". I guess i am getting used to pulling down my pants without undoing them now and i honestly haven't been thinking about my size as much. I do have a pair of 'goal' jeans but i might have picked too small of a pair since i still can't get them past my hips! (these are now the hips of a mom that had four 10lb and over babies in 8 years). i know i feel better and that is important to me. I think after 8 weeks, i am finally getting it! SCALES ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!

Just want to let the newbies know that i thought i would never get here, finished my first 8 weeks, and now i have done it. NSV! i am wanting more than ever now to keep going and see where it takes me . . . hopefully it will bring me to a whole new person . . . a whole new way of living . . . YES, I CAN DO IT!

week 4,day2

Mornin Crackers! Pleasant surprise this morning. Did my once a week weigh -in. I LOST 4 LBs. this past week!!! That's a total of 15 lbs in 3 weeks! I've been following the program to the letter and have done some form of excercise pretty much every day. So girls, this woe is no fluke. It works!

Julie,I'll be thinking about you today. Don't worry, you'll do great. Just think about how happy you'll be after you recover and can get back out there and excercise without knee pain.

Happy birthday onexone! Have a great day!

As far as the headache complaints go, I think many of us had the same complaint, plus some of us had trouble sleeping. After a few days though, I think I experienced "the shift",and started feeling allot better.

Thanks everyone for such great support,( Alissa and Kelley17,you are very patient people). dede

Congratulations Kate! Isn't it a great feeling to know that you stuck with it; set a goal and reached it. You should be very proud. Can't wait til I can say the same. dede

RUNNING

Alissa,
did you see my post over on Callanetics? I had 3 of the songs you listed on your playlist on mine So, I downloaded a couple from your list! I loved them! I had a better run yesterday because of my new songs

I also checked out the site you gave me, and am going to do one of the programs! I did a 1/2 marathon 2 years ago, I would like to do another in the spring...this will get me in gear!!

Susi so glad you are here!! I agree, drink your water and add more protein, that will sustain you longer!
