Stats: Down 24 lbs!
WOE: Crack the Fat Loss Code
Start Date: 10/6/08
Week 4 Day 1

Hi Everyone! I had my carb up day on Friday so I decided to weigh this morning and was down another lb. so that makes 15 now in 3 weeks. Even though it was only a lb. what a huge difference in my clothes this week. This morning I tried on a pair of slacks that were tight last Monday and they were loose! I was amazed. I'm not sure just how this WOE works, I just know it works. My energy level is back up to where it was and I feel great. One of my daughters is getting married next July and at this rate I'll be more than ready. I have 15 lbs. more to go so I'm halfway there.
Have a good week everyone!

I think they are so overloaded - not ready for the big time yet! I got a response in a couple of days when I emailed.

Just don't exceed your 20 grams of Carbs for the day and you are fine.

It was so discouraging, but overall, I have gone down 10, could have been 13......I didn't overeat and I stayed within the menu provided in the book. Any advice out there. Thanks ladies.
I see someone doesn't listen to MEAN OLE ALISSA and MEAN OLE ME! DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF FOR AT LEAST 2 DAYS AFTER CARB UP DAY - My goodness, you are stressing yourself for no reason it is water weight. YOU CANNOT gain 3 lbs overnight!

THE SCALE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND DO NOT USE THE SCALE TO MEASURE YOUR PROGRESS. THIS IS A FAT LOSS DIET NOT A WEIGHT LOSS DIET!!!!

Use a tight pair of pants for your gauge!!!!! Do NOT make me come over there and steal your scale

I your idea about the bangle bracelets! I'm going to go buy some and do the same thing. That makes it more fun and decorates the wrist, too! What a great tip. Thanks!

Someone suggested weighing on a Tuesday or Wednesday instead of right after a carb up day....I've almost talked myself into not weighing again until the end of my first set of 8 weeks....I feel better. Still haven't taken my measurements but my pre CTFLC shorts were fitting much better.

By the way....I'm a hockey grandma...just went to Fort Wayne, Indiana to watch my 12 year old grandson play a couple of games on Sunday. He's a 96 Peewee, but plays on the house team...so a second year peewee. He's always played offense and has been the high scorer, this year his coach asked him to play defense, we only had two defensemen. It's sort of boring for him, but he's doing ok. Once in a while he "forgets" he's on defense and goes with a break away...but so far it's always resulted in a goal so his coach is pretty lenient about it. Playing defense has improved his backward skating so not all is bad! Ha! One of the nicest teams we ever played was a Canadian team (if that's what the cdn stands for). They brought each of the kids a token that said Canada on it, it was so nice. They were excellent too by the way!

I hope this question doesn't get lost in this long reply...but I'm really confused as to all the talk about milk, peanut butter, jelly, ice cream, yogurt, etc. I thought we could never have any of the foods unless they were listed on the substition list (except for the cheat days and high carb days in Maintenance). Even page 141 says to substitute if desired from the list in Chapter 6....I know Wendy can't list every food for Maintenance, but exactly what are the guidelines for this? I just don't want to screw this up because I think it's a way of life for me that I can live with but sure would love to have a peanut butter sandwich some day again and feel like I'm still following the plan...Thanks for anyone's help...I need it. Week three went OK, Week 4 is exciting because after this week I'll start the accelerated fat loss weeks....It's going much more quickly than I anticipated. So glad I got my book though before Oprah mentioned it!
PB is considered a fat not a protein so if you use it count it as a fat. You can have that on some ez bread with a little low sugar jam on your baseline days. Milk and ice cream only on carb up, high carb and cheat days. You can have your fudcicles on baseline for that ice cream craving.

I'm confused what you mean about only on cheat and maintenance days. You can have pretty much anything on carb up days after your first 3 weeks. Take a look at my menus on the menu thread and you will see I thoroughly enjoy them.

However, this morning, I went out to weigh, and realized I didn't have my glasses with me to read the scale, so being in a hurry, I went ahead and left and went to work. At lunch I said to my husband who was in the shop, what do the scales say? He said 219.5.

10.5 POUNDS!!! : up: Oh my gosh!

I am so excited! Plus, when I looked back at my weight last Monday morning before I started this program, it was 230, not 229, so I have to adjust my stats!

What a wonderful feeling!

Congratulations to everyone else also who hung in there and who are hanging in there, helping all of us, week after week!

Starting my maintenance week 7 (second round) today. I must admit this second round has been FABULOUS!! Pound loss has not been substantial, but inches lost has been incredible. My C25K training had a big impact on my losses, and my body is loving me for it LOL! I did a 10 minute run last night, my longest so far YEA!!!!

I've missed you all dearly, but I hope to be back to my normal routine this wee, (on other words, NO LIFE LOL!) so hopefully I can help the oldies out with answering newbie questions. We need to assign shifts now since we have so many new faces - I love it!!!

Welcome Spydermonkey, you are with week 3 group and I've lost count of who we are. I think some have decided to do week two over.

Don't let the scales get you down. I was pleased with my 2 pound lost this week but would have been ok with nothing as my pants are almost ready to go down a size.

As for peanut butter, I had that on my toast twice this past week for breakfast and it didn't hurt me. Spread real thin of course.

I'm heading to the gym, haven't gotten to the yard as planned as the kids and I are watching scary halloween movies. I'm a nervous wreck!

Yeah - at least you aren't letting the scale get you down. My RANT is for those ladies who get depressed when the scale doesn't budge but their pants are around their ankles!

I found that I run best on carb up day, but no mid-week carb up day this time since it is maintenance again. I usually have dinner at 6 p.m. and run around 7 p.m. Not sure if I should try the peanut butter, and if I do, do you have it right before you run?

Thanks,

Hey Sara - I usually eat a spoonful 15 minutes before my run!

Nina - Hi on the 9 lbs. Remember this is NOT a low carb diet. This WOE is about eating healthy. EZ bread is allowed not because of its carb count but the type of carbs it is. It is made of sprouted grain NOT flour. You do not need to buy low carb anything in fact if you read the book you see she discourages low carb products because they are often full of chemicals. If you live in a cool climate the EZ bread would probably be fine out, but I keep mine in the fridge and just grab a slice and toast when needed. Hope that helps.

Hi All!

I'm so glad it's Monday evening. Monday at school after the weekend trick-or-treat (ours was Sunday) is always crazy with 6th graders chomping secretively on the stash of candy in their lockers. What's a teacher to do? I only made one kid spit out what I think was a snickers because he came into the classroom chomping on a cheekful like a cow chewing its cud. Like I wasn't going to notice????? Really, they are so funny...they try to see if I can catch them chewing gum in class, which they are not supposed to do at the middle school at all. They never win! I've been doing this for 27 years and I have seen every possible way of them trying to hide it. The more they try, the more obvious it is! I love sixth graders!! They're truly a hoot and NEVER boring! Anyways, moms, check backpacks before you send the kiddos back to school after trick-or-treat or they are going to have a SUPER SUGAR day at lunch!

How do I email Wendy? What is her address? I have an idea for a restaurant chain for her plan if it really takes off.

Making red snapper and broccoli with a nice arugula salad for dinner. Tomorrow is carb down day for me-W3D2. Can't wait for D3--Carb UP!

Later,
Julie

I keep mine in the fridge, I love bread and this tastes great. It is flourless. I'm getting ready to go to the movies but this was sent by a friend and wanted to share. I think Audrey Hepburn was the author. Enjoy!

Kelley I am not weighing until Friday too. That is my routine for maintenance. Finally, I started my TOM on Saturday. Better late than never. I am going to try the peanut butter tonight even if its is 45 minutes after dinner. Hope it works.

I can't believe how fast the board is moving and how many new people there are. Its difficult to keep track. Just a month ago I was commenting on how many people had dropped off from the beginning and that I thought the board was slowing down which made me sad. So glad its not.

Love you all.

p.s. my daughter if finally starting tomorrow (she says). She wanted me to ask others if she could skip week 1 and start on week 2. I told her that I am one of the old timers on the board and that she cannot do it that way. She insisted that I ask.

AlwaysDancing that is so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. I cut and pasted it to a work doc and printed it out to put on my desk and read everyday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.

I bought two more books...one to share at school and one to send to my sister, who is VERY excited about it since we talked. She is clear out on the west coast (Portland, OR), but we email and call all the time, so we will be able to share our progress. She is an awesome gourmet cook, and I know she'll enjoy the challenge of "Wendyizing" some of her favorite recipes for baseline and carb-down days. Can't wait!

We have a shop back of our house and we have a huge, industrial scale that is very, very accurate. That is what I weigh on.

Congratulations to everyone else also who hung in there and who are hanging in there, helping all of us, week after week!

woo hoo jackie! way to go! Hey,I got my teeth cleaned today too. Maybe I should weigh! ha! dede

Thank you Julie - I usually love my students and can find the good in all of them, but today was rough. I wish I could have a couple glasses of wine tough! I think all teachers and moms are pretty special so back at you

Julie how fun - tell her to join our board too! I kind of want a book for work too. I still go to it every now and then!
