About 30 of us went to Cracker Barrel to celebrate yesterday. Oh, I just got that...."Cracker" Barrel. Geeze, I'm slow! Anyway, Wendy is thrilled about this link and had me tell everybody about all of you. Yes, she has been here! Not too often, but she has been here.

And.....Wendy will be submitting the outline for a new book this week. She's planning on it being related to the first book and getting more into exercise programs and recipes and stuff like that.

Can you tell how proud I am of her and how happy I am for her!

She deserves it and I'm so excited about the new book! It is so liberating to be able to enjoy food and not obsess about it! Thank you to you and WEndy for helping me acheive my goals!

Kelley - yes that does help.. i have read the book but some things take a bit to sink in. As they say anything new takes 6 weeks to become habit. I want this habit. BTW - you have done wonderful on this plan and Thank you for the advice.
hi carla welcome isn't this just the greatest? i just love having people who are in the same boat i am to talk to.did you like the cheeseburger meal i sure did. i am saving my shake for afternoon snack and maybe b4 bed. i belong to sams club and went and got adkins shakes (12 for about $15) alot cheaper than at walmart. they don't have the 20 to 25 grms of protein (only 15) but my sister says they are ok. i will be going to gnc in dubuque ia when i go visit my family and see what they have after i run out i got vanilla and chocolate. it is so weird i actually look forward to eating some of these funky things. can't wait till the next few weeks where i can really experiment lots of good luck to us both..as for the book i only read the first week and part of the 2nd (to see what i am getting into) as not to confuse myself. i will read all the 2nd week probley around thursday (to get ready for it) it seems kinda scary. my sis had a problem with hers so she is starting it over. give her lots of support everyone cause she is very dear to me.(she encouraged me to do this) we are both diabetics and hope to avoid insulin shots and to get off our medication ,

i was used to eating low fat variety so now my taste buds are getting a real treat

Off to a great start and keep eating to stoke those fires. One of my favorite snacks for week 1 was deviled eggs - love those things!

Not for week 2 - just carb down days so on Wed and Thurs you can have that cinnamon raisin french toast.

the bright side of things....

Just realized there's actually a button for going to the first unread post- after 2 months, am I dumb, or what?

being a ruminater (sic?) for the good or bad... this morning's great scale got me wondering what I've done right, and the BRIGHT sides to 2 months of this WOE. Came up with this:
1/No mindless eating, even in the worst of times...
2/No grazing.
3/No guilt -still working on that
4/Your support, ladies- I have NEVER seen something like this b4!
5/A whole drawer full of undies that fit!
6/my clothes fit so much better.
7/The best holiday season in YEARS!!!!!
8/a renewed sense of hope I can really get all this off!!!
9/a lift to my self esteem
10/Less FMS pain, and less CFS fatigue.

I can go on and on- don't want to outstay my welcome!!!

Have to find those old measurements so I can see ....

Though I never lost more than 6 lbs during all this time, it WAS holiday season for me, so who's complaining- and the second cycle will show more. (I will do W5-8 next, and then start again....)

Did some research about what we talked about b4 the holidays- I was right, and anyone who says you are not Jewish anymore is not, which means your son is also.

Yeah Tam! Pulling yourself out of your funk. I think pumpkin would be like potato - good point. Yummy love it! You've done such a great job and I want you to just keep telling yourself that rather than focus on when you make little goofs. Such as life. I enjoyed lots of brie, wine and french bread and Jerri says just go on with my maintenance so that is what I'm doing!

Week 2 Day 1

Ladies

WOOHOO! It feels good to say we are in a new week.

Linda

CONGRATS to everyone who made it thru, held strong, lost some weight and gained some confidence this week. WE ARE AMAZING WOMEN! KUTGW!

I said last week that I too was a slave to my scale. I HATE IT! I can step on that stupid thing 15 times and have 15 different numbers. I'm ready to throw it out the door. I started at 187.4 Monday morning, when I stepped on it later in the week it bounced around between 181 and 184. (I was hoping the 181 was more accurate). This morning it bounced around again and then 3 times in a row said 183.8. So that makes -3.6. A loss is a loss, I'll take it, especially with thryoid issues when losing is soooo difficult.

My stomach feels a bit flatter, I did get into a pair of capris that I haven't been able to wear since probably 2005. I wish I'd gotten out the tape measure.

We went to the airshow yesterday, we ate out 3 meals..... considering the options, I think I did ok. I didn't get in all my veggies, but I did resist all temptations. The only blunder... my mom was working at one of the food booths. She was handing out bottled tea and water. I was giving some of the tea to my DS/DD and realized that I too was drinking it and it was full of SUGAR I could have kicked myself. I think I only had about 1/4 of a bottle, but still.... I was mindlessly drinking without thinking.

We ended up going to Steak and Shake for dinner and I ate a salad and bunless cheeseburger... passing up the SHAKE and FRIES! (that was a feat in and of itself )

So off to week 2 - and I'm scared. I liked the week 1 sample menus. I think I need that structure. Even though I didn't follow it to a T I was easily able to substitute where needed.

I just ate breakfast.... 2 slices EZ toast and 2 softboiled eggs. It was actually very tasty

Oh, Connie, I sooooo wish I had known about this plan when I took my first trip to Hawaii last January. I was trying to lowcarb but it was all down the toilet by the second day because that was when I had my first fresh papaya, lol...

I read later that you are getting a condo--that's the best way! That saved us so much money. You're going to have such fun--I'm jealous!

Yeh Kelly!
I started week 2 with a bang - messed up my very first meal Thank GOD for Kelley17 - she will not let us stray

Tell you though - that raisin cinnamon was sinful. Who needs "real" bread? Even my bear of a husband loved it!

Try it on your base or carb up day - yummmmmy

P.S. So glad you are with us

OK, I lost 7 pounds and 2 inches off my hips, 1 inch off my chest and 1 inch off my midriff. I think this is not too shabby for one week's effort!!!!!!!!! This WOE rocks!!!!!!!!!

I had my first Carb down meal today and boy, that EZ bread tasted like a slice of heaven to me I had cinnamon raisin this morning with just a see-thru coating of light whipped butter (not even a teaspoon) and one whole egg. I think I can live like that for the rest of my life

I am also looking forward to a normal salad with mushrooms, tomatoes and other stuff. I have to say that I truly missed the veggies but one week of semi deprivation is a very, very small price to pay for such great results!!!! Bravo, Wendy

I dusted off my Callanetics TAPES (yes, pre-historic). watched them last night to remind myself what's needed, blah, blah, blah. And then... discovered this morning that....uh.....no VCR in this household

Went to Amazon and paid thru the nose for the next day delivery - yes, I am that motivated

How are the rest of my Week 2 friends? What are your results?

Let's make it a great Week 2.

Kelley, Allissa, Connie, Linda and other "elders" - thank you all for keeping us on track.
Hi everybody! My first week was easier than I thought it would be. I haven't weighed myself yet, I'm determined to wait until Wednesday. I started the Couch to 5K today and did the whole thing. I'm going to start strength exercises tomorrow, then back to the 5K podcast on Wednesday, etc. I had Wendy's Power oats today and it was very satisfying. That's about it, now I have to finish my latest project - reorganizing my closets. FUN!

Tomorrow morning is our meeting, likely to take several hours...but I will say I am pleased with what they have put together and am pleasently finding myself optimistic for tomorrow's meeting. This "Team" really seems to "get" Megs and her areas of strengths and weaknesses were adequately addressed. I am a happy mommy...let's see how tomorrow unfolds.
Hijack all you want Alissa..it's good to get to know people...just gives us that much more support! glad to hear you are happy with the results this time!

I asked Wendy this questions but never got an answer (went into the black hole). Maybe Jerri can help us if she is still around (I need to know that as well).

Connie,
I have e-mailed Wendy's website twice with several questions (yours was one of them) and the only response I've received is an e-mail saying that "someone" will get back to me.
Wildcat, congratulations on getting an actual response from Wendy's site.

Restart #2

I got sick - very sick (I'm still sick, frankly) and stopped posting right around Yom Kippur.

When I don't check in with y'all, I don't stay On Program.

And you know that can't be good.

Here I go carb-depleting again. This time I'm making it the full 8 weeks.

I decided to fully restart, since Wendy said we can do this twice a year (and no more) and it was about half a year ago when I first started. I was getting dizzy trying to mini-deplete and keep track of where I was, so I figure a full restart is better for my brain.

I feel a bit like the George character on Grey's Anatomy a few seasons back, repeating my 'intern year' -- ah well...
How has everyone been?

Naomi
Naomi! I will be depleting with you . It kinda stinks that I messed up so bad. I liked being on the same schedule as Kelley. But now I have you! Where's the pic of that cute little pup?

No carbs- the fiber in the flaxseed cancels out the carbs.
Thanks so much- will do the 3 T. I have in my shake every morning with 2 eggs... Will have my hot cocoa shake instead with it... (blend shake with just some of the water and 1 t. cocoa- add hot water ).Yum for these cool mornings.
Part of my downfall last night was being cold. Israel is a tropic country, and fall hit suddenly this past week, and I am cold morn. and eve. Off to have a hot shake now... haven't eaten since that pizza- it's almost 5 hours- gotta run!! (I'm 6 hours ahead of EDT!)
