Oh, honey....

Take it from a celiac... that stuff is foul! Don't waste your money. Please DO NOT waste your money.

EZ bread is available online to order or find a lite whole wheat bread with a similar fiber content - there are some high fiber breads out there that are equitable substitutes for someone who truly cannot get a hold of the stuff.
EZ bread has 3g fiber, 4g protein and 80 calories per 2 slices.

Find one of similar nutritional profile and you'll be fine. I found several in my (very) small local grocery. Sunbeam light wheat bread actually had more fiber and protein for the same 80 calories! Their white bread had more fiber, the same amount of protein and about half the calories...

The wonder light wheat bread had more fiber and protein (5g each).

I could go on, but you get the pic.

There's a misconception about flour versus ez bread ingredients that we need to clear up -- I've a background in Food science, so I'll walk everyone through it in order to help our community make an informed decision regarding bread tweaks.... But later....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will get all the support you could want and/or appropriate kick if ya need that too! Be sure you get the book as the info in the magazine is not even close to what you really need. Vladis - love it! Enjoy your carb up day and the feeling of no guilt while enjoying the company of friends! As long as dessert is not a trigger for you, you can enjoy some. Just know when to say no more. And from dinner last night, it sounds like you are ready for tonight!

Val - sorry but the bread won't work. The bread contains flour, potato starch, and cane sugar. EZ bread contains no flour or sugar ingredients. Here is what is in the Sesame EZ bread: organic sprouted whole wheat, organic sprouted barley, organic sprouted millet, organic malted barley, organic sprouted lentils, etc. You may not be able to find a sprouted whole grain bread in your local stores, but that is what you are looking for. Good luck!

It is pouring rain and somewhat cool here in Northern California. Dreading going out to the grocery store, Wally World (Walmart), etc. But the cats may start eating my EZ bread (with the requisite butter, of course), if I do not go buy cat food!

Hope you are all having a crackin' good day!

Hi,

I see that one minute muffins have been mentioned. Do some of you use them instead of EZ bread? I have had them before but them back me up so I stopped making them. Maybe I was having them too many days in a row.

Hi Val. The one minute muffins are not a carb so technically not a substitite for EZ bread. I have one for a snack sometimes. I've been adding 2 tbsp.of pumpkin lately with nutmeg and cinnamon. Instead of 1/4 tsp of baking powder I use 1/2 and I microwave it for 1&1/2 to 2 min. It's good! dede

okay so here's a what-on-earth... moment.

Thought today was Friday.

Yeah. Woke up this morning and for whatever reason, I thought it was Friday.

Go ahead and say it.

So my hubby 'slept in' and I thought, "well, no use waiting around..." packed up the kids and went and did all my errands.... I had a lot. We were out all day.

Got back home at 6:30 and hubby just stared at me. "I bought groceries!" I blithely exclaimed and went into the kitchen to make pizza and salads...

*shakes head*

I think the carb-deplete has done something to my brain

Ah well, on the plus side, I'm a day further in the carb deplete than I thought I was....

No, no blueberry pancakes. I know I can hold off until after day 21 or maybe I should make it 22 .. I might not have as big of a loss after first week because of it and that I will just suck up and move on.

This WOE is so life friendly. You can go to functions and eat what "everyone" else has and still be on plan. It seems easy until I start questioning and make it harder.. then it's read the book or ask the board.

I painted my bathroom today..was a bigger job than I thought it would be, now for a second coat tomorrow. My body is hurting tonight from the rolling and trimming. Be glad when that room is done. Then it's the bedrooms.

What kind of salad dressing do you use on your salads???

EZ has 80 cals per slice, 4 grams protein and 3 gr fiber per slice...not per 2 slices...just thought I would mention that.

It is about HOW the body process the ingredients in EZ versus flour-based breads. The more "refined" and processed a food item is, the less "processing" our bodies have to do to it therefore the less "good" a carb it is. On carb down and baseline days, we want our bodies to work at processing the starch/good carb we ingest.

Have a great evening all...I'm getting ready to head off to the movies with my friends! The Changeling is calling our names!

YAY JACKIE!!

The program changes every week.

In week one, you will warm up for 5 mins. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. Then have a 5 min cool down walk...TOTAL EXERCISE is 30 mins!

Do you have the Podcasts??

Today is my ONE day off from working out I almost feel guilty not getting a workout in...but the body needs rest also!

Very 1st Carb Up Day

Had a carb up day today. We went to Olive Garden. I ordered the whole wheat linguine with marinara sauce. I had some salad and I asked the waiter if he could bring the dressings on the side as I just wanted to use lemons on my salad. He did and I did. I did not have a breadstick with the salad. My linguine arrived, and I ate 1/2 of it (as Wendy has said), and I had another 1/2 bowl of salad, and I ate 1/2 of a breadstick. I stopped as soon as I began to feel full so I wouldn't overstuff. Ken said he noticed that I used great restraint when eating today.

We went to work out then and I did the start of the C25K! It felt great. I'm happy I approached it!

Didn't have protein snack this afternoon and I sure felt it! I was starving by the time I got home. We had sandwiches for dinner. A beef chuckwagon and Ken had a Boca chicken sandwich. We each had a small bag of chips and celery with a little laughing cow cheese and some unsweetened iced tea.

All in all, I've had a great 1st carb up day. I will probably do it a little differently next one, I'm not sure how, but I'll look through the menu thread and see what I can find. Feeling just a little bloated, but not stuffed and uncomfortable.

I can't believe I ran today!

Yeah, I saw the program changed every week. Well I did it right I guess. I did the brisk walk for 5 minutes, then the alternating 60 and 90 second thing for 20 minutes then the cool down for 5 minutes.

I don't have the podcasts. I don't have any way to listen to them so I guess I'm going to have to buy something.

Once I have completed the C25K, I'm going to check out the spinning class at our gym. They have so many things for us to take advantage of. I feel that by the time I get to where I can complete the C25K, I should be able to withstand a spinning class!

I'm feeling bloated too but not stuffed. Wheat pasta, marinara sauce and 1/2 of a meatball w/small salad for dinner. I did not even want bread.

I didn't do my podcast today, I'll do it tomorrow morning and start week 2 on Monday. I was going to use our bowflex today but my arms were still a little sore from Thursday. I may attempt to squeeze that into tomorrow also. That way, the exercise will cancel out what I had for dinner! hahahaha!

Week 3 Day 6 minus 12lbs

Hi ladies,

Back from work and catching up on all of you. Everyone is doing so well. I'm also very sore from the work I did all day yesterday on my deck. Only finished half. Had to go after work to buy the rest to finish other half tomorrow. I can barely sit, all the squatting yesterday. Luckily it will be worth it.

I would love a margarita. The anticipation will make it better. The first 8 weeks I want to be by the book so I know the exact impact it makes for me. Tonight I cooked a turkey burger and added some of my fancy cheese and put it in a ez pita pocket. Loved it.

I want to try the recipe that was posted earlier by Val I think, it looked great! Carla I think your fine so keep moving on.

Jackie kudos to you on your running. Yes, missed you too Vladis. Mammapo did your kids miss school? I woke my kids up one day and took them to Galveston. We spent the whole day on the beach and the treat was they got to skip school and just live for the moment. We needed some us time.

I'm gonna go clean up. Tomorrow another successful week comes to a close. Happy I shared it with you all.

Back from two week vacation.....

OMG.....can't believe how busy this board has been!! I don't have time to read everything now but will try to get caught up tomorrow. Will also get on the scale and see what kind of damage has been done.

Just an update....started back in July and lost 12lb in those first couple of weeks and then completely went off program. Restarting on Monday....Deb you still planning on starting again with me?

Gonna refresh myself on the book tomorrow and plan my menus and do my grocery shopping so I'll have no excuses Monday morning. I'm really ready to do it right this time!!

I'm anxious to be an active participant this time around and will try to get caught up with you all tomorrow. Looks like lots of newcomers which is great.... Can't wait to get caught up on the posts and see how everyone's doing.

First Carb Up day is over

Hello fellow crackers
Hope everybody is having a great Saturday night and a pleasant w/end.
My very first Carb Up day is done. I think I did OK but will post my menu to ask you what you think. I am almost thinking I didn't do enough carbing up.

We were invited to dinner to our friends house so I had no say in what to eat there. They are healthy eaters though and I think it was a pretty wholesome menu. Here we go:

9 am - 2 slices EZ sesame bread w/peanut butter and 2 hard-boiled eggs (coffee and cream)

1:15 pm - Atkins vanilla shake

2:10 pm - 3.5 oz of cooked shrimp (steamed), salad greens with 1 TBSP of salsa, tsp of Kraft's Asian ginger dressing ( light)

7 pm - pumpkin soup, bread roll (3 inch), 2 slices of pork tenderloin, steamed green beans, smashed butter squash and a tiny (and I mean tiny) piece of pear crisp (in a little dish that they usually serve butter in the restaurants - TINY). No alcohol. A TON of water t/out the day.

It might seem like too much time between some meals but I just wasn't hungry at all. Also, I wouldn't have picked pork but that's what our hosts served. It was a very lean tenderloin.

Dear "Elders", please let me know if this was an acceptable carb-up day.

Week 2ers, how did you guys do tonight?

Hi Sherrie glad your back and this time lots of friends to keep you on track. Vacation is a hard time to diet. Vladis everything looks yummy to me.

Fruit on week 4? I know it's listed for D days in the boot training cookbook. I have had dried cranberries with mixed nuts for a snack, just a handful on my D day so let's hope so.

I'm going to take my sore body to bed. The deck is calling me. I want to finish it so I can have a barbecue before it gets too cold to hang around outside. See you early tomorrow to end the week.

Sherrie, you are right, the last few weeks this board gets busier and busier! Our newer crackers are educating the newbies and sometimes us oldies too. We are happy to have you back! You already know what your triggers are, and what to expect. We will be happy to have you share your experiences with all of us.

Restarting on Monday....Deb you still planning on starting again with me? .......Gonna refresh myself on the book tomorrow and plan my menus and do my grocery shopping so I'll have no excuses Monday morning. I'm really ready to do it right this time!!......I'm anxious to be an active participant this time around and will try to get caught up with you all tomorrow. Looks like lots of newcomers which is great.... Can't wait to get caught up on the posts and see how everyone's doing.
Vladis, I personally don't think you had near enough carbs for a carb up day! Remember that your last few meals are supposed to be primarily starches. Eat more on starches on carb up date.

Well, do not know if this will post, lost all power for about an hour and when I brought the computer back up, it was still right where I left off. If not, then you will have all my valuable 2 cents worth!

Connie

Fruit is allowed on carb-up days- have it with one of your carb meals- not on it's own, especially if you are carb-reactive- enjoy!

Not weighing...

I actually did NOT weigh myself today. Why bother- I couldn't have lost anything, why get dicouraged, etc. etc.....
SO, I want to see if I will be strong enough not to weigh until Wed., which as you'all said, makes the most sense.
It shouldn't be THAT hard- since I usually weigh first thing in the morning, b4 eating or getting dressed. After that, never. So, it's just getting past that getting dressed....
PLEASE be there for me Wednesday morning, as I will probably need a shoulder to cry on...
Hey, what happened to the incurable optomist?? Dunno... we'll see how the week goes- just gotta make sure to eat soon enough in the morning, and that I have my meals available, otherwise it'll be like Friday's lunch...

Vladis: I posted what I did earlier, but I'll tell it again because I had a great day yesterday.

Went to Olive Garden for lunch with my brother and sister-in-law and had the whole wheat pasta with marinara sauce. I ate a bowl of salad before my meal arrived and no breadstick. When my food arrived, I ate half the serving, another 1/2 bowl of salad and 1/2 breadstick. My brother ate the rest of my meal, he has my same food issues. Just can't quit eating. Ken said he saw that I ate with great restraint. Water with lemon to drink. No dessert.

For dinner I had a beef chuckwagon sandwich (on a whole wheat bun with no high fructose corn syrup. Those are hard to find but Aunt Millie's makes one) with a single serving of chips and some unsweetened iced tea and a low-fat fudgecicle later.

My bloat is gone this morning, I feel great. I started the C25K yesterday and it was awesome!!!!

Today is Baseline Day. I'm going to make some kind of egg dish for breakfast and EZ toast. I'd love to have some oatmeal, but I also like to have bread with it and I might want a turkey sandwich or tuna sandwich for lunch!

week 3, day 6

Hey Crackers! Had a great D day yesterday. I have a question for those who've done the whole 8 weeks already. Did you notice greater fat loss during weeks 5 & 6 (accelerated fat loss phase)? Just wondering if it truely was noticeable.

Also for Kelley17,those crispy green beans, did you thaw the beans first and how long did you cook them? dede

Anybody else starting Week 1 tomorrow?

Glad to see so many new crackers on the board since I was gone. Is anyone out there starting Week 1 tomorrow? I haven't had time to read all the posts but would sure like to have someone at the same level (although I know all of you are great at supporting at any level!!)

Good morning, Jackie. I've been up since about 5:30 am. I don't sleep in well sice my body clock gets me up at school time every day (all summer, too!) I would have made a great farmer's wife!

Today is my carb up day since I switched with yesterday. I'm looking forward to having dinner at a Japanese restaurant with my family. We're not eating until 4:00, so I can have some homemade salsa and chips this afternoon, too. I just finished eating EZ french toast with SF syrup and turkey sausage links. It was SOOOOOOO yummy! What a treat! But I miss real maple syrup, so on a carb up day when I can have sweets (later on in the plan), I will make breakfast for dinner and have real cinnamon bread french toast and real maple syrup with turkey sausage links. That will be my treat.

Have a wonderful day. I have to go shower and get ready for church. I'll be back later today.
