You are so right again, Kelley! It is much easieer to stick to the plan without the scale. That can be defeating. I'm already planning Wednesday's carb up day! Tomorrow is my carb up, too, but that's dinner out with my family, so it's kind of planned already.

Have a great day ...sunny and 60's here!

Val from Canada

Hi there. Love Canada and Canadians! I am on week 3 day 6. My first week I lost 8 lbs. 3 the second week. Lost 1.5 in. from my bust and 2in. from my waist after 2 weeks. Won't know about week 3 til this coming Tues. I truly believe this works. It is definitely something you should try and see for yourself how amazing it is in such a short period of time. I haven't eaten this healthy in years. Good luck! dede

Ready to start cracking

I'm so glad that I found this board. I am a 43 yo mom of 2. I'm totally unhappy with the way I look. I did Weight Watchers for the past 7 mos. and only lost 7 lbs. It is so hard for me to drop weight.
I saw this program in Woman's World magazine and thought maybe this was the answer I've been looking for. It seems pretty logical. I'm going to start on Monday and just try focusing on Wk. 1. I can do this! I'm looking to lost about 35 lbs.
I've been browsing several of the CFLC boards and have found plenty of valuable info there. I'll keep coming back.
I think I'll take another posters advice and measure my success by the fit of my jeans. (that are too tight right now!)

Nice to meet everyone!

Hmmm, I really prefer thin crust. I might have to try that if I don't like these crusts. What I DO like about them is that they're whole wheat, and I like the whole grain stuff better. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Julie

Oh, I forgot! I might not be able to make that Wednesday. It's the day after my surgery and I don't know how long I'll be able to stand in the kitchen to cook. I might just have to use my leftover lasagne and lamb stew for meals. I'll try the pizza Saturday next week.

Thanks for the magic bullet responses guys. I want one NOW but then thought it would make a great Christmas gift to tell my husband to get me. He always struggles with what to buy. Guess if I've waited this long,I can wait a bit longer. Ha. Oh and Jackie, way to go at the chili cook-off! I have found that if you are able to eat even a little bit like the other folks at an event or special occasion,it is enough to satisfy and NOT make you feel like you are "different". dede

Welcome, Trisha!
It's nice to have you here, and this board is a wonderful place to be. I'm a 54 yr old mother of 2, grown and out of the house, yet I'm still mothering (never stops, just changes!) and I've put on a lot of weight in the past 4 years. I'm a sixth grade teacher, single, living with my beloved sheltie, and I'm a stress and depression eater. I also saw the article in Woman's World, and after I read it, I ran out and bought the book. Here I am, less than a month, and just squeaking into 2 sizes down. I don't care what the scale says...I'm learning to listen to my body. Anyways, this board is full of caring people who support, encourage, empathize, sympathize, celebrate, educate, and just have fun! Come often, and you will find it helps you stay on plan and feel good about yourself.

Have a great day!
Julie

I bought a magic bullet when I started the plan, and I love it for the protein shakes. I'll have to try my homemade salsa in it.

Hi Trisha
1 Welcome! Get ready for a wonderful change in your body. I just wanted to tell you that if you go to page one of this thread, you will find recipies and examples of other people's menues. It is very helpful. You will see that the examples in the book are just the tip of the iceburg. You really can have lots of good stuff. The best part of Wendy's plan is how your cravings will start to disappear after only beng on it for a few days. Remember to follow week one exactly. If you mess up,(hopefully that won't happen),you must start over. That is a motivater cuz week one isn't really all that much fun,ha. But ,done correctly, you will NEVER have to do it again. Good luck! dede

That sounds good with the pizza. I have a great pizza recipe and the crust is made from eggs, cheese and zucchini. It is really good. I'm going to experiment with it and try using mostly just egg whites and a lower fat content cheese and see how it comes out. We have used it a lot.

I've done clean eating for a long time. My background is working in a health food store as a general manager and then having our own business in massage and nutraceuticals. So, I've eaten good food for a long time, just way too much of it. You can eat healthy, eat too much and still be fat if you eat mindlessly!

Dede: Yes, you are right, although some thought it strange when I stayed away from the chocolate contest table! I did though. They even were carrying stuff around and said, eat, you have to vote for one. I declined! I felt good about it afterwards. Usually I am like, oh, well, why not? But not then and that felt really, darn good!

Trisha. You're in the right place for all kinds of great help. Kelley is here this morning, and she is a wealth of information.

Yes, for a torn meniscus and frayed cartilage. Shouldn't be too involved and recovery should be quick.
Thanks

Julie. Now we're in my area of expertise. I work in an outpatient orthopedic surgery facility and take care of patients ever day for this surgery. You're right. It shouldn't be a really big deal. Usually our patients stay in recovery no more than an hour and WALK out. Some places make you leave in a wheel chair though. Just remember to stay off of it and keep it elevated as much as possible for 3 days. The less it swells, the less pain you'll have. Also ice it. Your nurses will go over the instructions before you leave. Do your physical therapy as prescribed and before you know it,you'll be up and around as before,( hopefully much better than before)! dede

Thanks, Dede! Those are the same instructions I got from the surgeon (who did my ACL in 2001) and the nurses. I'm taking the rest of the week off from school (nice, because I have a student teacher and I don't have to do lesson plans). When I get back to school, I can sit in my chair, ice, and elevate as needed since he will be teaching. The kids can come up to my desk for help if they need it. Also, I have a refrigerator in my Science lab, so I can keep I gel packs frozen. I will DEFINITELY do my PT religiously because I want to get active, which I haven't been able to do because it's painful.

I'm sure it will be much better than before!

Week 3 Day 6 minus 12lbs

good morning everyone.

Welcome Trisha, as everyone has said you found a great site to succeed with your goal.

Julie Way To Go! Can you believe week 4 is around the corner? Seems like yesterday.

The party I went to last night was great. I stayed away from the food table and liquor table. There were lots of people meet and I played table tennis and pool the rest of the night. One bottle of water the whole time.

I like the power of going into situations where I can be tempted and not even fazed. I will be doing privates this morning till 2 so will check in then.

Everyone have a wonderful day and spend it the way you like best.

oh Julie, when your ready to start the running program I'll join you so you have a partner.

It might take about 4 weeks before I get the go ahead to do something with that much impact, if you can wait that long. I already downloaded the podcasts to my ipod, ready to go when I get the OK. I'd love to have a pertner!

Kelley,
Look at my state on the profile. I changed them and got rid of the weight goals. They are now size goals. I looked at that potential mother of the bride dress in my closet and it is a size 6. (Ironically, the designer's last name is Morgan, which is my daughter's name!) That's my goal, but the wedding isn't until May of 2010! If perchance I am smaller than that, I'll just have to go out and BUY a new dress!!!!!

Hi ho hi ho it's CARB UP day today!

I'm going to have whole wheat pasta and marinara sauce with a nice salad. Wendy says you can have 1 roll, so I guess that would also count as one breadstick. I always have them bring the dressing on the side so I can control how much is put on, but I think I'll just have them bring me lemon slices for mine. I am really loving the lemon juice sprinkled over my salad.

I am planning our menu now. I'm going to have scrambled eggs with Sesame EZ toast for breakfast, then my protein snack then Olive Garden for lunch. Haven't gotten to the rest of the day yet, but it will be good! I think the book says you don't have to eat the broccoli on your carb up day, but I've gotten so used to eating it, I still have it in my plan. I am amazed at how cleanly I'm eating it. No sauce, no oil, no butter, sometimes just totally plain and lightly steamed. A dribble of soy sauce on it makes it totally delicious.

Enjoy your day today. I'm up doing laundry already this morning@
Happy November 1st. Christmas is right around the corner. Don't you hate when someone says that!

Jackie~~Woohoo, great minds think alike. I'm having the eggs and EZ toast this morning and hubby is making his meat sauce tonight with wheat pasta. If I get to Wegmans today, I'll get some of the EZ pasta. Oh and 1 slice of garlic bread.

I saw a Denny's commercial on TV, they were showing their pancake breakfast special. All I saw was a heavy, heavy pancake with globs of gooooey toppings, butter and whipped cream. It actually made me go "ick". Just the thought of all that gunk and calories. I couldn't handle it now.

Good changes are happening and I'm seeing less of me. I have to tell ya that my bra, in the back, doesn't have that buldging flab around it anymore. Amazing what almost two weeks have done to my body.

Linda: me too, me too!!! No more bra flab hangover! In fact, I wore a bra yesterday that would have cut me in two before (I just couldn't wear it because of that) and it just fit really well around me and I even had to fasten it on the 2nd fastener! YEAH!!!! Congratulations to you!!!!

1. Can some of you who have been on the plan for more than a week please post how much weight loss you have had in what period of time.

2. Here is my menu for week 2, how does it look?

Thanks for the help,

I saw this program in Woman's World magazine and thought maybe this was the answer I've been looking for. It seems pretty logical. I'm going to start on Monday and just try focusing on Wk. 1. I can do this! I'm looking to lost about 35 lbs.
I've been browsing several of the CFLC boards and have found plenty of valuable info there. I'll keep coming back.
I think I'll take another posters advice and measure my success by the fit of my jeans. (that are too tight right now!)

Nice to meet everyone!

Val!! Trisha!!! Nice to have you here.

Sorry about that... I did switch this week around so that I could carb up on Friday instead of Saturday. I did carb down on Thursday (stead of baseline), carb up Friday and baseline Saturday.

I'll admit, my first carb up day was very disappointing.

Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday, Ladies!

I was pretty much off the board yesterday and missed you all terriblyI just tried to catch up with everything and then gave up - by the time I was done with a page there was another one waiting

AlissaWhat a story!!! You SHOULD be on Oprah! This is no EZ bread - this is what people should hear about!!! My hat is off to you for the pain you endured, for your perseverance and courage!!!

MammapoYour story is truly inspiring as well. You know, it's great hearing your story and next time I decide to cry and whine about how difficult this is - just smack me on my imaginary cyber head!

JackieYour son and your Dad have and will have a very special bond forever. I have a story of my own on this subject but that's for another time. Incredible... You, your Dad and your son are lucky to have each other!!!

Kelliebell - (albeit belated)

Kelley17 -My dear leader! I am reporting that my scale went to another bathroom. Now I can't step on it in my unconscious state - I have to walk down a long hallway to get there I might post notes along the way "Just say NO to scale!"

Did you find EZ pasta in your store?

Valcan and Trisha
You couldn;t have found a better company for support and education. We are all here to support each other and help each other. Welcome to our Family

JulieMy husband had 14 (!!!) of those surgeries (sports). He needs a knee replacement but drs don't want to do that until he is a bit older. Each time he would be released just a few hours after the surgery and it would usually take him less than a day to get back to sort of normal. My opinion is he was rushing it every time. One time he told me to take his straight to work (in a totally dazed state, mind you). He had some situation that had to be dealt with immediately. Next day he had no memory of it. Listen to nurse Dede and do as she says - take it easy, stay in bed and elevate your leg!!! You are doing GREAT on your diet so don't cheat yourself from a speedy recovery. Be a good patient:console

TamI ALWAYS enjoy reading your stories and your Cracking success and strength in the face of the Holidays gives me home that I can do it too. You are a great example and I admire your efforts and your sense of humor!

Linda alwaysdancingLove your posts! Look forward to your encouragement and want to be just like you when someone is putting a cake in front of me I think it is so much easier to stay "good' at home when you are not tempted with a gazillion things that are not right for you at the moment and when you don't have any peer pressure. I don't know how you do it!

Nina - How are you doing??? I am thinking about you and hope all is well.
