Week 1 Day 5

Happy Halloween !!!

Last night I bought 4 cases of Atkins drinks to have on hand. Still love the mocha protein drink from the book with the coffee in it. Tastes like the smoothies you get at the coffee shops. I also had supper out last night and I went to a buffet and had a wonderful salad I made and then brocolli and rotissere (sp?) chicken and steamed spinach. I didn't eat huge plate and I was FULL. I felt like a victory because the sweets were not a tempation or the other fried foods or salads. I would see other peoples plates and think WOW did I eat like that. Another victory.. i did NOT weigh in this morning. Scale is away until monday.

I woke up this morning feeling good and as the day has progressed I am starting to get the dreaded headache back.. Advil where are you ---
I called and my dh is in area and bringing me some. I work in a care facility so I know where I could get some if desperate too.

I took two tums before bed last night and no cramps.

Halloween at my house is going to be me cleaning up house and found out this morning a entire jug of laundry soap broke open and drained under washer so it will be to clean that up. Then start on the mountain of laundry that piled up this week. My kids are 14 and 12 and so they are going to help where I work tonight with the residents to hand out candy. They get to dress up then also and help be part of the "spooky" decorations. They get about 200+ kids and the residents really love seeing the trick or treaters.

Funny thing .. I have had this candy bar on my desk at work for about two weeks.. I know I did not eat it, but it's gone. Somebodys sweet tooth got to them.

I'm not an expert by any means. Mine was found on a routine checkup and blood workup that I had with my family practice doc. I have been on 2 different meds, I honestly didn't feel much better with either med. And I've been bad, I haven't taken my meds in about a month. I haven't noticed much of a difference. I am planning to make an appt after Jan 1 with an endo and go from there.

I am not sure what to ask, but you may want to check out this thread

Carla good for you, looks like you got over the hump.

Nina you are making it, look for all the positive and take one day at a time.
sounds like you have a fun Halloween planned.

I am taking about 15 of my friends to a private Halloween party at a warehouse downtown. Supposed to be very lavish and we all want to see what living in a warehouse looks like. I'm told they put in a huge dance floor for friends so that's us!

Will stay away from the liquor and sweets as each day just gives me something positive to hold on to. One of my twins tried to get me to wait till Jan. so it can be our resolution, ha, no way! I told him I'm on week 3 catch up! His name is Noe and I predict the one going to be buying me and his brother a night out on the town. But he could surprise everyone!

Way to go avoiding that candy bar. I love my mocha shakes. I love the dark chocolate atkins with a heaping tsp of instant espresso, 4 ice cubes and whipped up in my magic bullet. That and a piece of EZ toast is my favorite way to start my work day!

I am still here havent given up, my attitude hasnt improved much yet but it will I am going to work on it. I am way closer to taking the batteries out of my scale. I am in a slump but as least I am aware of it and you guys are great for support.

I am going to go work out at curves at lunch today. I am very active that is hard to get my head around as I do a lot of active things.

I work out at curves three times a week I walk at least three times a week and I have horses so I ride 3 to 4 times a week.

I am what we call in the horse world as an EASY KEEPER. When you can feed a horse low rations and they stay fat that is an easy keeper.

I am still fighting my bad attitude and I can see it getting weaker lol

Thanks for all the comments everyone

Nina

Nina - So happy you are staying put and giving it the full 8 weeks. Great job with the work out and the horse back riding!

What do you mean by low rations? You need to eat. If you aren't eating enough that may be another reason your body isn't releasing fat. I know it is a hard mindset to get out of (starving yourself to get skinny) just like the scale thing, but you got to get over it. If you don't eat enough your body goes into starvation mode and starts holding onto that fat.

You aren't hungry are you? You are eating every 3-4 hours, drinking your water, eating enough protein?

Hi I have a ?
After the carb deplete @ less than 20 g, where should I be keeping my carbs at? When I was going thru the program I stuck w/ Wendy's menus and recipes, but now that I'm on my 9th wk/5th day, I'm just not sure. Thanx in advance, and thanks to all of you for your dedication, information, and inspiration!

I looked at those Magic Bullets last night at Target but was too cheap to get it. Got a hand blender and it worked great this morning. Don't like having blender on counter and cleaning that every day. I will try that with the atkins drink too.

to everyone for all the support

Muffin

OK ladies, I need some help. I went to the recipe thread and couldn't find the 1 minute muffin recipe. What's up with that? From some of the posts I've read, some say to double baking powder, some give recipe without baking powder. I just need the basic recipe so if anyone has it, would appreciate it immensely. Wanted to try it this morning but had to "settle" for something else. Thanks ya'll.

It's 2 TB of Flax, 1/2 tsp of baking powder, 1 egg, 1 packet of Splenda and a little cinnamon if you like into a coffee cup. I guess-timate my baking powder but it always seems 'bout the same. 1 minute in the microwave.

Happy Birthday Kellie!

Happy Halloween everyone

This isn't a low carb diet so you don't need to worry about counting them. If you stick the individual days rules you should be fine!

I'll have to remember that one. An easy keeper! That's my family for sure...

look up something called Wilson's Syndrome. You may need to look into additional therapies besides jsut thyroid meds.

DFWaggoner. You do not need to count carbs after the deplete week. Just go by the carb serving size, i.e. 1/2 c of rice, 1/2 a small potato. Look at the serving sizes on containers. I slice of regular bread, 2 of EZ bread, etc.

Hope that helps.

Hey Kelley. I feel bad that I haven't been on very much. Been busy with work and taking my mom to all her doctor's appointments.

2 questions. I saw that you have a magic bullet. So you like it? Is it easier to clean than a regular blender? I might just take my BB &Beyond coupon and go buy one.

Also,I know this is thinking ahead but for Thanksgiving,I will be on week 7. Should I make the Wed. before a C then have Thanksgiving my CH day? If so,what would the Sat. be? dede

Thought about you this morning when I went for my walk/run. Intended to just walk cuz I was feeling a bit tired. Then I guess you inspired me with all your non-stop workouts and dang if I didn't take off running!

Welcome DFWagoner I would think you follow your usual maintence. Carbs aren't counted after week 1 just don't go back to your usual eating.

I bought a bullet when I thought I would do the protein drinks but maybe somewhere down the line. I prefer meals if possible.

Working on my deck, not the best in the world. My daughter was laughing saying ends aren't perfect, not quite level, a screw here and there won't go all the way in. I told her, it's a Linda Deck! Not perfect but still beautiful with it's flaws and a fun place for us and our friends to hang out. anyone looking for perfect can find another deck. Kinda describes me..............gotta eat and get back out there.

I had an ACK!!! moment at lunch.. brought my salad for lunch and went through the dietary (where we can get meals, snacks etc) and saw brocolli soup so got a small cup of it. As I was taking my third bite I realized it's made with milk.. stopped eating it and threw it away..

I learned..stick with what is in my lunchbag!!

Kelley is it your birthday? Think I saw that on a back post.. so

Dede I my magic bullet and use it at least 2 times a day. So easy to clean and use! Jerri said she was going to post a holiday schedule for us so hopefully she will pop on and let us know! I think you do a few carb down days and then just enjoy your holiday. Have a great weekend! K

Hey dede ~~ Hope you don't mind but I'm going to add my two cents about the Magic Bullet. I used it to grind up my flax seeds today and it was quick and easy to clean. I've also done my shakes in it and they come out fine. It sure is easier to clean than my Kitchenaid Blender.

Hello everybody!

I still have to catch up with all the posts - was visiting my dear dentist. Had to go very early so I had one Atkins shake when I went in and then another one when I came out (couldn't eat anything else - numb).

Finally, had an EZ sesame egg salad sandwich (carb down day so I HAD to un-numb myself quickly so that I could have my beloved starch).

Anyway, still on track here. Will catch up on all posts and chime in later.
