THen yesterday with a hangover nothing taste better than a nice greasy pizza. just didn't really eat much of anything yesterday. So should I do 2 carb down days???? or do a baseline start on week 4???? I'm not craving just needed to get the alcohol out of my system. Lots of water for me...

Welcome to all the newbies....and Happy Birthday Linda

I would go with the regular week. If you add an extra carb down day then your body won't be shocked next week during accelerated fat loss. I lost 4 lbs in that one week! JMHO

I got sick - very sick (I'm still sick, frankly) and stopped posting right around Yom Kippur.

When I don't check in with y'all, I don't stay On Program.

And you know that can't be good.

Here I go carb-depleting again. This time I'm making it the full 8 weeks.

I decided to fully restart, since Wendy said we can do this twice a year (and no more) and it was about half a year ago when I first started. I was getting dizzy trying to mini-deplete and keep track of where I was, so I figure a full restart is better for my brain.

I feel a bit like the George character on Grey's Anatomy a few seasons back, repeating my 'intern year' -- ah well...
How has everyone been?

Naomi
back Naomi! I told you I would track you down WE are here. Just let us know what you need. K

Dede - we all have done our little tweaks just watch it and if it seems to be effecting your fat loss then cut it out and see what happens. Remember this first time around you are learning everyday what works and doesn't work for you.

Everyone who lost weight? You did it, keep it up! Week 1's how did you do?Brag a little.

I lost 2 lbs. so it's working for me. If I could keep that up I might could catch up with Alissa!

I start coaching my daughter and the twins today. Gave the DVD to the twins to watch and my daughter has everything she could possibly need for week 1. Once her mind is made up she is a rock.

Going to the movies to celebrate my birthdya which is today. Told everyone who knows I love chocolate so I get a lot for my birthday to save it till week 8. They'll forget by then.................

Vladis? you said wait till Monday, ok, how did you do?

I did see fruit wasn't allowed while reading the book this morning. That's ok, I can take it or leave it. I have will power.

I think when you are starving you should go back to a deplete day, 1or 2. They get you back in control.

well, off to eat oatmeal will check in again.......................
Why wait until week 8 for the chocolate? You can have it after week 3 on your carb up day so go ahead and live a little. That is what this WOE is all about getting to eat all your favorites in moderation so you don't feel deprived.

So sorry about your fruit but you can have it when you get to week 7 everyday That is one of the reasons I love maintenance.

I wish your twins and daughter well

good morning everyone. well i had my first meal on week 1 day 1. i am used to eating toast with lots of p butter and jelly for breakfast and this morn i made the wendy's egg cheeseburger out of the book. it was really good. my dog sam could smell it and he sat by me and hoped that i would drop something on the floor for him. told him no way. it was alot and filling. my problem is portion control so i now am the prowd owner of a digital scale and measuring cups. it is amazing how much i ate. enough for 4 people. i do better to follow some kind of menu also. that is why i like the book. at least for now i will probley be following it. as i learn this thing i will be able to venture out and try it on my own. so far so good. i also had coffee with my breakfast. i drink it black/ is there a limit on how much to drink? i never drink it after 10 am cause then i'm up all night. i do not like the weel water that we have so i buy bottled water. they are 20 oz bottles. so i figure 4 will be the min. i wear 4 bangle bracelets on my left wrist and transfer 1 for each bottle i finish to my right wrist. it helps to make sure i drink enough water. can i add something like those little packects of crystal lifght to the water? it makes it go down much easier and they have sooooo many flavors. thanks to all who welcomed me and i look forward to all the tips you have. week 2 kind of scares me. but this is one day at a time. every one have a great day gotta go get in the shower.

Vicki - Sounds like you are doing great. I would limit only one crystal light packet to your water if You MUST - Remember you are flushing your system out. Save the crystal light to flavor your shakes. I have a girlfriend who uses those flavor packets to flavor her water - plus she drinks diet coke. Well she had so much of that artificial sweetener in her system she got hand tremors and horrible headaches. So just be careful.

Very helpful! Tomatoes were kinda a big deal on Atkins so they still scare me. It's sometimes hard to get used to the differences between this and Atkins. Tomato sauce is okay if no added sugar right? (I mix it with Newman's light balsalmic dressing and splenda for salads) One thing I'm still a little unsure of is fats, though. For instance, salad dressings should be low sugar and carbs, right? And we're still supposed to be careful about 'bad fats'. So like full-fat ranch is not okay, and neither is light because of the sugars, right? What do you guys use?? I'm not a big salad fan so finding the right dressing is important and I prefer something a little sweet so oil and vinegar are just nasty to me.

The scale is still hovering for me after a week. I lost a pound but it found me again. I'm okay with it though since I generally go up 3-4 pounds then down constantly so at least it's a little more steady and staying on the lower end of the scale. I also think my portions have been too big so I broke out my food scale to start weighing things again until I get used to the right sizes for things. I made Wendy's crepes with oatmeal this morning. They were a bit...okay a lot...chewy, but I made them more like 1 pancake rather than several small crepes. Maybe that's it? I think I'll just have to eat plain oatmeal if they are always like that - I like oatmeal anyway.

I did a party Saturday and knew the hostess pretty well. She offered me a glass of wine, a beer and punch no less than 6 times then asked me to go out with them after. I was {--} close to accepting - old mindset of, "Well it's not going to work anyway, might as well." But I'm very proud of myself for resisting. I was a little discouraged that I hadn't lost after working so hard this week to be careful but I'm trying to be positive about it.

Congrats to you losers and you know, it is good to see that some of you did eat some things that weren't on plan - I know now that if it were to happen that it's not the end of the world and I can get back on, not just give up. Of course I'll still try my best not to, but it's not the end of the world obviously

Week 1, Day 1

Here I am Day 1 of Week 1 -- I went to the store and purchased all the things for week one. I brought to work all the things I will need for my day up until the last two meals. Seems like a LOT of food. The only thing I couldn't get at the store was the protein powder in vanilla. I had at home those Kelloggs Protein packets you add to water so will add that to the crystal light. Is that going to be ok? The protein packets have 1 carb??

Looking forward to a successful week 11

Week 1 Report and on to Week 2

Good morning, fellow crackers!
newbies and returning back crackers. We are very happy to have you with us. Linda Always dancing -

I am yet to read all the pages but I want to post my results first.
OK, I lost 7 pounds and 2 inches off my hips, 1 inch off my chest and 1 inch off my midriff. I think this is not too shabby for one week's effort!!!!!!!!! This WOE rocks!!!!!!!!!

I had my first Carb down meal today and boy, that EZ bread tasted like a slice of heaven to me I had cinnamon raisin this morning with just a see-thru coating of light whipped butter (not even a teaspoon) and one whole egg. I think I can live like that for the rest of my life

I am also looking forward to a normal salad with mushrooms, tomatoes and other stuff. I have to say that I truly missed the veggies but one week of semi deprivation is a very, very small price to pay for such great results!!!! Bravo, Wendy

I dusted off my Callanetics TAPES (yes, pre-historic). watched them last night to remind myself what's needed, blah, blah, blah. And then... discovered this morning that....uh.....no VCR in this household

Went to Amazon and paid thru the nose for the next day delivery - yes, I am that motivated

How are the rest of my Week 2 friends? What are your results?

Let's make it a great Week 2.

Kelley, Allissa, Connie, Linda and other "elders" - thank you all for keeping us on track.

Vicki,
That digital scale is one of the best purchases I ever made. Did you get the one with the nutrition info? I also like that if you put a plate on the scale BEFORE you turn it on it will show "0" so then you can add your meat or whatever you need to measure w/out messing up another plate or scale. I have Salter brand and LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!

Week 3 Day 1

Good Morning to all. Welcome to newbies just starting week 1.
Well I survived my trip to St. Pete on Friday. I followed the plan the whole day. Then Sat I had carb up day. Sunday I was really hungry and noticing some cravings. Is this going to happen every time I have a carb up day or cheat day? I stayed on the plan but it was starting to feel like other plans when I wanted something and couldn't have it.
Today I can only have M1,M2 and M3 because I have to only have clear liquids until lunch tomorrow because of medical procedure. So I want to know what I should have for lunch. Should I add something because I am going to really be hungry. I haven't checked to see what week 2 did to me. I will wait to weigh on Wed.
Also I have been really tired week 2. Week 1 I felt great but don't seem to feel like that now any reasons or suggestions?

Thanks Kim

Question for Monday Morning... On the plan there are 5 meals.. do you need to eat them all seperately or could you say combine meal 2 & 3.. or if you miss it is it just gone?

Week 3 Day 1 12lbs lost total

Congratulations Vladis, that first week really motivates you! I never used a scale but my daughter insisted I buy one for her so we'll see if my eyeballing was equivalent to serving size.

If your feeling tired after week 1 maybe your still figuring out how much to add in. Make sure the protein and water are there. After eating macaroni and pinto beans I know they felt like lead in my stomach.

I am making sure not to eat more than what's recommended and the rule stop when your full is it for me. Half way through I'm stuffed and I'll eat a couple of more bites to make sure then toss it out. I'll eat again in 3 hours.

I know I can have chocolate but that and cokes are my down falls for every diet. They aren't necessary and now that I have the will power why add them. I want to love a size 8 again. My attick is full of 10's and 8's just calling my name.

Carla 5 separate meals, this keeps you stable.

Pam - most ex-atkins people didn't see a great loss during carb deplete because their bodies had been there done that.

Remember we no longer count carbs so for your dressing go for lowfat dressing. If you remember from the book Wendy is not a big fan of Low Carb foods - so just go for lowfat - your dressing sounds fine.

For the crepes - really the thinnner the better - I think they are a bit rubbery if they are thick like pancakes. If you make them really thin and add some banana extract and a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg taste like banana pancakes. I splurge on my baseline days and add a squirt of reddi whip to them

Great Job resisting the food and drink pusher! Remember get out that tape measure and pair of tight jeans you want to get into to measure your progress. I have a belt that I couldn't even begin to wear when I first started and now I'm on the 3rd hole!

What a week!

Last week was so incredible for Wendy! First, she made the NY Times Best Seller list and then Oprah's lips! On Friday's show, Oprah talked about the Kindle (?) which is an electronic device to download books. She showed what she had downloaded to her Kindle and "Crack the Fat Loss Code" was on it! As she was reading down her list, she said the name of the book and said something like "I hope that somebody can do that". Wendy's publishers sent a basket with a copy of the book. They're thrilled about the NY Times but we think that Oprah is more exciting! The "Goddess O" has spoken!

About 30 of us went to Cracker Barrel to celebrate yesterday. Oh, I just got that...."Cracker" Barrel. Geeze, I'm slow! Anyway, Wendy is thrilled about this link and had me tell everybody about all of you. Yes, she has been here! Not too often, but she has been here.

And.....Wendy will be submitting the outline for a new book this week. She's planning on it being related to the first book and getting more into exercise programs and recipes and stuff like that.

Can you tell how proud I am of her and how happy I am for her!

I had at home those Kelloggs Protein packets you add to water so will add that to the crystal light. Is that going to be ok? The protein packets have 1 carb??

Looking forward to a successful week 11

Check the sugar grams of the protein packets don't use if over 1 gm of sugar. Good Luck and chime in when you need us!

One at a time but if you're still hungry at night you can have it there.

Yeah - What a difference a day makes. But gosh darn it - I have to burst someone else's bubble again!!!! Per WEndy save the EZ Cinnamon Raisin bread for Baseline and Carb Up days only. YOu should be fine today but for future reference no more Cinnamon and Raisin EZ bread on CARB DOWN Days And remember Wendy says 2 slices are a serving - so technically if you ate 1 slice you get another 1/2 serving of approved starch before 3PM -

So happy you are so motivated with the exercise don't forget to visit our exercise thread!

hi kelley thanx so much for the advice. with the coffee i would be climbing the walls by noon. i really don't need to have it i do like just plain water. i only went pee about 5 time already. power to the water. i am not a big pop drinker which is probley a good thing. (maybe i can a month) or if we go out to the bar i drink diet pepsi but usually only about 1 i am now having a delicious snack ( full fat cottage cheese, just 1/2 cup full) i set my phone alarm to keep me on track ( hint from jody jane)
i was used to eating low fat variety so now my taste buds are getting a real treat

Thanks Kim
Kim not sure what to tell you - hopefully Jerri will chime in but you take care of your health concerns first! Prayers for you that the procedure goes without a hitch

Carla - the rule I follow from the book is - EAT at LEAST every 3-4 hours up until 2 hours before bed. Does that help?

Vicki,
That digital scale is one of the best purchases I ever made. Did you get the one with the nutrition info? I also like that if you put a plate on the scale BEFORE you turn it on it will show "0" so then you can add your meat or whatever you need to measure w/out messing up another plate or scale. I have Salter brand and LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!
hi vladis i do have the one where you put the dish on and it starts at 0 good thing cause i sure would hate having to eat the dish i'm having my snack. cottage cheese. i like just about every food they have(sometimes not a good thing) and i really wasn't hungry. it seems too easy right now but it is only my day 1.i feel really confident that this may work for me. i always ate pretty healthy but just too much

Kelley, please do burst my bubble. I'd rather do things right. I had no idea that Wendy discourages c/r EZ bread in week2. I am fine with sesame bread from now on. What's her position on EZ tortilla wraps and pita pockets? I e-mailed her a few times but everything went into a black hole - no response (I am jelous that she responded to Wildcat)

And I did eat 2 slices so I am done with my starch of the day

I know what you mean about coke - I'm a cherry coke addict and I've only had 1 on my carb up day many moons ago. You will get more relaxed after the first go round and realize what are your trigger foods. I can't believe I'm in maintenance of my second go round! I can't wait to start the cycle again - how many times have you said that about a program???? I love it!

Vicki - it seems we are on the same day with the same eating pattern. I just had my cottage cheese also, wasn't real hungry though since the cheeseburger eggs this morning filled me up.

I didn't have the vanilla protein powder so am using the Kelloggs Protein in a Crystal Light water for afternoon protein. Hope that will work out ok

Kelley - yes that does help.. i have read the book but some things take a bit to sink in. As they say anything new takes 6 weeks to become habit. I want this habit. BTW - you have done wonderful on this plan and Thank you for the advice.
