Ok just got this in an email and wanted to share.

We must recognize that we are the creators of our future, and that our future is never bound to anything from our past. Yes, it’s true that we’re predisposed to repeat old habits and patterns. It’s the human condition. Yet, once we make a drastic decision to create something unprecedented in our lives, committing ourselves without hesitation by taking courageous actions to support the fulfillment of that intention, then magic begins to show up.

Vladis you are more than welcome to bring your dance to my studio and perform! Glad you are back to your cheerful self. Week 2 ladies are doing a good job of helping each other. Where's the week 3 ladies? give a shot and let us know how this week is going. We are starting to feel like pros and not worried like we were on week 1. I'm off to work on my deck, replacing what Ike tore off. Keep Nina on track people.................

Valdis,

My pants did not get loose-loose until end of week 3...then they got really loose moving into week 6. Deffo down a size by end of week 3.

Mind you...I work out like a fiend...I probably burn ~500 calories per day...sometimes ~600 5-7 times a week. And I EAT!!! 5 usually 6 meals a day...I need them. Glad you sound so chipper today!!!

I love soups and crusty breads, so I love this time of year. Can't wait to make some soups. I made my own chicken stock yesterday, so I look forward to making a soup out of it.

I have a foodblog that I have lots of vegan/vegetarian recipes on, but I've been slowly switching it over. I haven't posted for a while because I have been working full-time, but I'm back to part-time and I'll be back blogging the "cracker" way soon with lots of great recipes.
I can't believe you mentioned a Cracker Convention! I was thinking the same thing this morning, but didn't voice it because I had to leave for school. That would be a blast!

You'll have to send me the blog address because I would love to see your recipes. My other idea was that Wendy should open a chain of restaurants called "Crackers" and serve meals that are designed to be P/V/O's, P/SA's, etc. The menu could be coded so that diners would know what would fit with their current food plan for that day. Just a thought, especially if her book really takes of and works for the masses like it seems to have the potential to do.

I found EZ sandwich buns at our natural food store yesterday, but no tortillas. I'll have to go about 30 minutes to get those (I called around yesterday), but I would love to have some homemade salsa and chips on baseline days. I think Alissa wrote about baking EZ tortillas to make chips. Hey, Alissa, could you tell me how to do that? Thanks!

Kids were crazy at school today. I think they've been eating their trick or treat stashes all week and are on a constant sugar high! Glad it's not ME!!!

Keep Cracking!

OK, OK, I'll wait. I do work out but nothing like you - just walking, doing my stationary bike (minus carb deplete week), started callanetics - that sort of stuff. Oh, well, we'll see.

I'm a Week 3 lady, and doing great! down at least 11 pounds (I'm not allowed to weigh myself anymore per Kelley and Alissa. See....I'm behaving!!!) Anyways, I feel great, went down a pants size (but I was just barely in the larger size), and now my current size is getting looser bit by bit, no sugar or potato chip cravings, and I feel in control of my eating. I have more energy and sleep better at night. It's all good!

Week 3 is going good. I am carb up day today I had to change my days alittle. I had the french ez toast w/sugar free syrup and scrambled eggs this morning. Shake for snack, caesar salad w/chicken-dressing on the side for lunch and I am waiting to have my pizza for dinner. This carb up day has been good haven't really been to hungry and not craving anything.
I have forbidden the scale don't want to get into trouble. I am going out tonight to play on pool league so that will keep me busy. Sounds like everyone is doing good just keep up the good work and take it day by day.

Hi Julie!!

Pre-heat oven to 350 deg ...I've done them at 375 too but they seem a bit burnt on the edges (play with the temp for your own tastes) I cut the EZ tortilla into pieces on a well seasoned baking stone, spray them lightly with EVOO (I have a sprayer from pampered chef that atomizes traditional oils) sprinkle them with Garlic Salt and bake for 10 mins...then I leave them for about another 5-10 mins (with oven off) and then put them on the counter too cool...YUMMMMM!!!

I have actually used this method to make tortilla chips for my kiddos and I with regular tortillas (I can NOT have tortilla chips in my house...I can NOT just eat one or one hundred ) My kids have always loved them!! So...since we have EZ tortillas...I tried it once...VOILA!!! I hope you like them too!!

Jackie Jackie Jackie...

2 slices of pizza...you may add more meat but not extra cheese. Add all the veggies you want! YUMMY

Last night I ate 3 slices and felt like a beached whale! Oh my...but woke up fine today and rip roaring ready to go burn some more calories!

In fact for lunch today, I took the toppings off the left over pizza...veggie galore Za with added grilled chicken (just from 2 slices) and heated it all up and spread it on 2 slices of EZ sesame...Oh My Word! I did not miss the pizza crust! YUM!

This is your NEW Modus Operandi!

NEW and IMPROVED!!!

Thank you, Alissa. I will try it when I get the tortillas. I have tomatillos, tomatoes, sweet onions, jalepenos, and cilantro to make fresh salsa, but I want to wait so it doesn't get yucky.

I can't have chips in my house, either, so I'm grateful for the crunch of clean carbs! I can't have any kind of candy here (or bags of chocolate chips) either, but I won't miss that! The great thing is that I don't crave them!

Glad you asked cuz I'm the same way, particularly when we go to Cici's. I'm thinking anything where there is a buffet is out for me.

Seriously, people. My office has a WW group and still there is food everywhere and trust me, with the holidays, it's just beginning. Today there was 15 pies for our monthly birthday thing, every Friday is donuts, pastries, chicken and biscuits or something (alternative is fruit which I also can't have yet), there's always food in the kitchen across from me, we have 'fall feast' in two weeks, Dec. 5th is the firm open house where they fill no less than 7 conference rooms with different kinds of foods - including a dessert ROOM! I need a new job.

I found this green been recipe I think I'll try tonight (cept a little Splenda instead of the brown sugar of course and will skip the butter)

SERVES 2 -3 (change servings and units)
Change to: Servings US Metric Close

Ingredients

* 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can green beans, drained
* 12 slices of smoked cooked ham, deli sliced thin
* 3 teaspoons brown sugar (use more to taste)
* 1 tablespoon butter
* onion salt

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
3. Fold each slice of deli smoked ham in half.
4. Place 1/8 to 1/4 tsp brown sugar in center and spread a little with the back of your measuring spoon.
5. Place a thin slice of butter on top of the brown sugar.
6. Add 5-6 green beans (or enough so that the ham folds over nicely).
7. Sprinkle with onion salt.
8. Fold ham over green beans.
9. Place on cookie sheet, seam side down.
10. Repeat with remaining green beans.
11. Bake in oven at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until ham is golden brown.

Funny- I love reading other people's posts and seeing everyone's successes, and laughing along with you all, but always think that I am such a bore... gotta stop beating up on myself... guess you're right.
But- that's not new... you usually are!!

You won't want it- you'll see- I never had 5-6, but usually felt a bit deprived after 2... now I barely finished the second, and was happily satisfied.
THe chill in the air is getting to me... I get the munchies at night. Veggies will NOT cut it- any ideas, anyone?
Had my usual hot cocoa shake with some PB on a spoon.
Realized I shoulda added a bit of good fat to lunch- even though I was really full, I felt a bit ... dunno... something missing all afternoon... 'til I realized- no fat at lunch- just chicken breast (it was great in my grill pan- just a spray, no oil), rice and green beans.. It hit me when I had that PB...
My ff tonight was some no carb chocolate- about 90 cal. worth.
I am probably a bit low today also, as my body is carb depleting after all those little carb-ups ... I will NOT call it cheating- it was just life getting in the way!!
A bit dissapointed in myself... Didn't finish the mountain of ironing- did only about 5 shirts and 2 pairs of DH's slacks...many more waiting.... haven't ironed for 2 weeks, and it's piling up. post holiday style- also washed teh mattress covers and dust ruffles from our beds, and those dust ruffles will have to be ironed also before I put them back...
And, tomorrow's Friday..... we will be just 4 for the Sabbath-jsut DH, me, and the two little ones (11 and almost 16....) the kids are dissapointed. DH and I are NOT!!! Hope those 2 don't start bickering....
Maybe I'll have some tea to warm up. Only problem is I hate sweetener in tea, so I've only been drinking it on Saturdays (carb-up). Anybody get away with an occasional t. of sugar? Don't want to mess things up, especially at night. I can drink decaf w/o sugar, but I am craving some tea in bed w/ my Ipod...

hi!!!
Quick note: It's a regionalism... when we say 'should' around these parts it's not as in 'you should be doing something about that exposed wire' but more 'this is an assessment of what you might be able to realistically expect' -- I know lingo varies from culture to culture and country to country... my apologies

Kelley, feel free to change 'should' to 'could' and to append this to the original post:

My assumption for weight loss at an average of three pounds a week are:

1) There are more than 40 pounds to lose. We tend to lose weight faster the more we have to lose and slower the closer we are to goal. This is healthy, and our body's way of double-checking whether we 'really want to do this' just incase (if we were in nature so we wouldn't starve in a famine)

2) You are drinking all your water

3)You are moving for at least 30 minutes 4 times a week. Since Wendy says we only get one carb-Up day if we exercise every day (and I assume, like me you want two of those lovely, lovely carb up days) four days a week is a minimum.

By moving, I'm assuming a nice snail's pace like I walk - about a 25 minute mile, so about two miles (or roughly 200 extra burned calories) per workout, for a weekly 'burn' of an extra 800 calories a week.

4) You are working the program. The longer you're on it the easier it gets to legally tweak it. Since this is a first-time, I'm assuming you're being religious in sticking to portions and times (not too much or too little, and at least 4 but no more than 6 meals a day).

Here's another post Picture This Post for those of you who feel you need a more scaled down timeline, to help you get an idea of where you CAN be this time next year.

Here's the scenario: You have 80 pounds to lose. You are a slooooooow loser. So slow you only lose a pound a week average per eight weeks. Even doing everything perfectly by the (reedited and clarified ) book.

Here's where you COULD be this time next year:

By January you could be 8 pounds lighter

By April you could be 16 pounds lighter

By June you could be 24 pounds lighter...

By August.. you could be 32 pounds lighter....

By October You could be 40 pounds lighter....

By November 1 (this time exactly 1 year from now) you could be roughly halfway to your goal and.... get this... about 4 dress sizes smaller!!!!!

You could go from a 24 to a 16 by this time next year.

And that's assuming you gain NO muscle (which helps you lose faster) to replace that fat, that your metabolism doesn't change an inch from where it currently is, and that you're actually the kind of loser that has thyroid issues or something else that precludes you from losing fat at any rate more than 1 pound per week.

Even the most conservative estimate gives you hope of being at least halfway to your goal by this time next year!!!!!!!!!!!

There is hope.

We need to hope in terms of the long term goal, and work for success in terms of our short term goals.

Imagine where you COULD BE in a year.

Work for what you CAN ACHIEVE in a month.

Commit to what you CAN DO today.

hey if mentioned on Oprah the stores will stock everything they make so that's good!
I bought some fresh green beans looking for healthy and realized I don't have a clue how you cook them.

Listening (not literally) makes me realize I need to get on the wagon with exercising. I'm not doing my best in that department so will have to start scheduling that in. well, off to work check in later.

Ingredients

* 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can green beans, drained
* 12 slices of smoked cooked ham, deli sliced thin
* 3 teaspoons brown sugar (use more to taste)
* 1 tablespoon butter
* onion salt

Directions

This recipe brings back memories. That's how my grandmother made them or something like that. Yum.
