I hate those kindof restaurants. I guess they figure people will eat an appetizer, salad, main course, dessert, so they give you small portions at each. GOOD FOR YOU FOR not going off course. I felt a little guilty eating the 4 fries, but figured it was a good thing to do. At least it wasn't the whole order and it will keep me away from them in the future. They just smelled so good. And besides, what's up with DH for asking a dieting chick to go to McDs... we weren't thinking.

I hope today is better - I am going to eat plain EZ bread and make sure my portions are filling. OK, today is another day and it has to be better

Good luck to you, Kelly, and let's check in with each other later to compare our notes
Somehow I missed a whole page of messages.... i guess i hadn't hit refresh and then hit the back button and missed it.

I agree with you that I'm a little nervous about eating today after the havoc from yesterday, but this too shall pass. It may not have been the bestest B day, but that's ok, it'll be ok we just need to move past it, TODAY WILL be better.

I never notice these things either and I'm so used to bouncing up and down in weight right about where I am now, I probably won't notice a big difference until I get below my trampoline weights.
I tend to notice DSs growth spurts in the winter. You notice when the poor child is wearing highwaters and you swore you just bought those pants a month ago. With DD I just change the name from pants to capris... kindof hard to make that fit with boys.

I soooo know what you mean about trampoline weights... I have about 6 lbs that I fluctuate between (181-187), I'd love to see 179 and below. With this WOE and you gals here I am confident that it's possible.

I know I know throw the scale out but........ I have to have a reduction in the scale I need to lose 80lbs not just 10 or 20. I cant turn 80lbs to muscle the scale has to go down. (I am not very patient lol ) I am worried that I will do this plan for weeks and not see any results. How many of you have gained weight the first few weeks that have 60 plus pounds to lose. How did you cope with it It is freakin me out. I could cope with staying the same for week two but I am not coping at all with gaining.
Everyone is so positive on here sorrrrrry for being negative but this is how I am feeling. I am sure other ppl may have this feelilng as well or have had this feeling is the past.

Nina - First Now for some tough love:

DO NOT GAUGE YOUR PROGRESS BY THE SCALE. I know many of you are tired of the broken record but I'm going to keep saying it until EVERYONE GETS IT -

This IS NOT a WEIGHT LOSS Program IT IS a FAT LOSS Program!

I had 60 lbs to lose and I'm down 27 in just 13 short weeks! I did gain some weeks and then others lost nothing, and still others lost 4 or 5! But the WHOLE TIME I was SHRINKING! I'm fitting into some of my 8s comfortably at 148 lbs - at 5'2 that is a MIRACLE.

I think you need to give it the full 8 weeks - WE are here to support you and help you the best we can but ultimately it is you who has to decide what is best for you

I will tell you the people we've lost from the beginning were the ones ruled by the scale the ones that stuck it out let their shrinking bodies encourage them

You didn't put the weight on overnight, it won't come off overnight. It is much easier to put it on than take it off, and right now some of us are taking baby steps toward that bigger picture.

Also, what exactly are you eating? It helped me to go look at the weekly menu threads last night. Gave me a much better idea that maybe I was not eating totally to plan.

We're here, especially Kelley and Alissa with so much insight to help you do all your proper tweaks.

Good luck, and whatever else you do, don't give up, don't ever give up.
EXCELLENTLY PUT! Also, many people who begin to stall or gain are usually NOT EATING ENOUGH.

Kelley,
I think that yesterday my entire day wasn't planned too well. I ate my breakfast at 8:30, snack at 11:30, lunch at 1:30 and then dinner at... 7 PM! Then I ate chicken at 9:30 and drank Atkins shake.

I think I had not enough to eat for lunch and then had a huge gap between lunch and dinner hence provoking killer hunger.

I write everything down so when I compared my previous days to yesterday it was clear that it was a combo of things.

P.S. I still don;t understand why my pants don't fit better

STEP AWAY FROM THE LEDGE!

I'm on week2 day 4 also... yesterday was TOUGH! Vladis and I both had hard days yesterday. We WILL DO THIS TOGETHER! Have faith. I don't have as much weight to lose (37 is my goal, 47 would be the bomb), but I do have thyroid issues and that makes the weight even harder to come off. So baby steps... look for those NSV (non scale victories) and cling to them, not the scale.

I also make my own dressing with EVOO - GOOD FAT! Just use less and with the full fat you typically don't need as much because it has so much flavor

Yesterday I copied and pasted the meal plans a couple of you 'elders' had done each day from the other thread into a Word document. If anyone would like me to email it to you I could. I found it helpful to have it in one place and get ideas if I ever get bored with what I'm eatting.

Maybe you're like me...I will bounce around a bit (ESPECIALLY that TOM!) then WHOOSH, I'll lose a significant amount at once. Then I start over with the ups and downs until the next WHOOSH. That's when I tend to give up if I feel like the next WHOOSH is taking too long...but don't! One day you'll get on the scale and then re-get on it thinking there's a mistake I'm also a scale-a-holic but I'm trying to do better << looking around for the scale voodoo priestess >>

DO I have to go into it again. I AM PUTTING A VOODOO CURSE ON ALL OF YOUR SCALES - From here on in they will all say you weigh 75 lbs

I typically gain between 3 and 5 lbs during my period. You have hormones that cause you to retain water so YES it does EFFECT YOU!

Also, because so many people are doing the C25K program, I downloaded some free podcasts from the program and plan on starting next week! I used to do interval training on the treadmill where I'd speed walk for 1 minute then run for 1 minute, repeat for 40 minutes with 2 sprints in there so I think this program will be right up my alley and I'd LOVE to be able to jog for 30 minutes finally! Hi Nina
Sorry you are having such a rough time.
I had a pretty weird day yesterday. I did lose 7 lbs on week 1 but my pants fit about the same and I am frustrated. But you know what? We are all different. Our bodies are different and we will observe this weight/fat loss happening in different ways for each of us. My brain understands it but my heart sometimes rejects it.

I never even considered quitting this WOE but I did get very frustrated last night. Everybody's reporting pant dropping and my pants are sitting on my belly just like before! What the hell!? But again, we are going to Disneyworld and today we are in Houston. We can't stop and say, "Hey, DW is not here! To hell with it and I am going back!" What you and I see from our window while we are in Houston might be a very different scenery. I am writing to you but I am also talking to myself. I need to hear my reason not only my heart crying.

Hang in there. Stay with us and we'll get to DW in just a few weeks. Then you can decide if you'd like to take another trip or fly to Hawaii on another jet

Hang in there. Stay with us and we'll get to DW in just a few weeks. Then you can decide if you'd like to take another trip or fly to Hawaii on another jet

You are both only in WEEK 2 - My goodness give yourselves a break! My pants didn't get baggy until at least the 4th week. Everyone is different. Please give it the full 8 weeks!

I need to vent I am cranky and unsure of this plan I did great the first week almost 9 lbs. Which happens to me on any plan I start. Now I have gained three lbs back in week two.
I want to be a believer but struggling today.
I havent went off the plan but I am teetering the slippery slope.
Nina
It's common to show a slight gain in week 2, especially if you're carb sensitive. DO NOT GIVE UP!!! You've already made it through the toughest week. The important thing is to step away from the scale. What you weigh is none of your business! Once a week is plenty. If you haven't measured yourself yet, do so. That's where you'll see the big loss.

I'm down 75 lbs so far and down a total of about 50". I had a bit of a set back due to 5 weeks of high dose steroids and after-affects from it. My body is finally getting back to normal (blood sugar within range for the first time in 2 months and the cravings are finally going away) and I refuse to give up. At age 49, I am in the size that I wore when I was 13 years old altho I'm still about 25 lbs heavier due to muscles. I figure that I'll have about 40 more lbs until I hit 24% body fat.

You can do this and we are doing it with you!

And while in HOUSTON you can stop by for a visit with me. No sense turning around now, we've made it thru the rough part and I want to go to DW.

Have a good time at Disney World! I'm only about 20 miles away but haven't been in about 18 years. Epcot & Animal Kingdom are good but I prefer the Universal parks. Islands of Adventure has great rides.

Don't you give up!

Thanks eveyone for the encouragement. does anyone have any ideas of something good that can be eaten at tropical smoothie or panera bread that you can have during week one. I have to work out of town this weekend and i know they have those two places.

Try to go on their website, most places have their nutrional values posted and then you can make your decision before you even leave the house

Love That Song! I am sorry about your loss, I had one as well at 10 weeks.

My favs are "Tunnel"...if you knew how ugly my divorce was and how long you'd understand the parallel! Sing a Song. It is a 5 min song and at the end of my last 25 min run it came on. I couldn't WALK to that one!! So I ran for the whole extra 5 mins!

I am off to get my little ones to school and then guess where I am going???

You got it...

THE GYM

More later Lovely Ladies!

Vladis...I would agree...not eating enough can get that hunger demon working on us big time.

Here I am at what feels like the end
And so I come to You, my Lord, again
With this burden buried deep within
This heart that You have made
In this trial that I'm going through
I don't question 'cause I know it's true
That the sorrow brings me back to You
And You have made me stronger
It's been forty days and forty nights
Down the road of many trials
And I pray it's only for a season
'Cause in the wilderness and in the flood
You're the one I'm thinking of
And I know You've brought me for a reason
I have one more thing I've got to say
Before they try to take my life away
Let it be known that I am not afraid
Let You will be done, Lord

Hey there girl!!!! I've missed chattting, but this moves so fast and by the time I get back on it's been answered or said, so I just read....and love all the encouragement and love that all of you give!!!!!

So your sis live in Clifton on the Potomac?? Newburg??? That is where I used to hang out when I was a teenager....feels like yesterday!!! We will have to do the Cracker Reunion think that would be great

I've been following so you KUTGW, it is to cold for me to go run outside, so might have to go to the MIL around the corner to use the treadmill. I really liked taking the dog the other for he is big and full of energy, it wiped him out!! He is pit and lab so lots of energy. WIsh we could bottle that up
