Try not to worry. I noticed that i lost some of the bloat I have had in my "baby belly". I think that's why I've noticed the difference in my pants. The extra "kelly roll" made my pants snug. Losing a bit of that made a difference. I don't see anything much anywhere else. But like DancingLynda said, imagine yourself in 8 weeks. 8 weeks will be here whether you stick to the WOE or not, so lets stick to it (together) and we can see where we are in 8 weeks.

That 2nd starch really got to me today too. I drank the protein shake and for a little while I felt weird, but I think the added protein helped me out. I did good and ate my leftovers for dinner. I think part of my issue was not as much protein as I should have eaten with the potato. I had a big salad, potatoe and small amount of protein. I was satisfied so I stopped. It was a good learning experience.

I did cheat tonight.... DH wanted McDs after I got done with biblestudy, I ate 4 fries on the way home. The good thing... they didn't taste very good so I didn't want to eat anymore and they lost their appeal for future cheats.

Hope you are feeling better.... ((((HUGS)))
Hey Kelly
I just posted a long reply to Alissa's post so I am not going to bore you with the details of my "mini-crisis" . After I wrote everything out I decided that I ate too little. It was the kind of a restaurant when you look at your entre and say, "Please thank the chef for this complimentary starter but when...er...hh...my dinner will arrive?" So, was hungry and it went downhill from there... At least I didn't blow it completely. AND, Missie, GOOD for you for putting down those fries and stepping away from the light

I hope today is better - I am going to eat plain EZ bread and make sure my portions are filling. OK, today is another day and it has to be better

Good luck to you, Kelly, and let's check in with each other later to compare our notes

It's been a weird day - didn't have much time to read the posts and missed doing that terribly. I work mostly from home and even when I do work I keep an eye on what's happening with my WOE friends. Today was a lot of running around.

It was also my first baseline day and I "crashed" after my second starch of the day (yeh, yeh, yeh - I do drink A LOT of water, like 3-4 liters a day)

I also noticed that I had awful cravings tonight. So far I reached only for chicken breast and Atkins shake (OK, OK - I did put a very LIBERAL amount of whipped cream on top - the organic one, no sugar, no fat).

What's up with that? Are those things normal after carb-deplete week? I don't want to blow this program (I refuse to call it a "diet").

Also, even though I lost 7 pounds I haven't noticed much difference in my clothing. My husband said that my face looks thiner and my arms (7 pounds worth???!!!). I know that whatever gains weight last would be lost first (hence my fingers seem thinner as well).
A bit down tonight...
So sorry you were down and I wasn't on Hope you are feeling better. I didn't have cravings at all, but you may be carb sensitive so I will let a few others who had the cravings and adjusted the type of carbs they did to help themselves. I think Tam had some problems with carbs in the beginning and worked through it. Keep with it and will all just slide right off - you got to give it time heck just 1 1/2 weeks have gone by. Cheer Up, we are here for you and your body will go up and down and all around

I am also having some emotional stuff going on so that makes it hard to, and to top it off I ran out of my antidepressants and have to wait till the insurance aprroves it again! Since my hytecotomy my hormornes so out of whack....so need them!

We can do this, I think we are doing the same week....w4/d4???? maybe our bodies are trying to trick us into thinking we don't want this....them damn demons....WE GOT THIS and we will both pull thru!!!!!
Hey Rhonda
Happy to see your smiling beautiful face
Yeh, those damn demons (reaching for my holy water here). We'll keep them in check!!!

I am w2d4. Yesterday was my first Baseline and that sent me in a tailspin. I think I am going to EAT today. Every...3...hours...or...else Body, here I come - eat it or...eat it

Sorry you are going thru some tough times Those darn insurance companies - why do they get to decide what we need? Shouldn't that be you and your doctor? Makes me MAD!!!

Did you try drining some soy milk? I hear it helps with some hormone problems. I am sure you know much more about it now than I do. Hang in there, my friend!!!

Dislike broccoli Now I nuke it in the m/w and then put it on my salad with other veggies so I don;t need to see it separately. I think that helps.

Oh, maaan, I hope today is better. I am afraid to eat...or not eat...or anything now

I also would like to know "what" lost those 7 pounds? I want my pants to fall of!!!! My face? 7 pounds off my face (can you even imagine that beaver with a face 7 pounds heavier?)

OK, getting to silly here

Hope your day is much, much better and hope you get those meds NOW!!! You hear me, Insurance Gods, NOW

I also saw it on Women's World and skimmed it then came home and searched for it. Found this site, ordered the book and here I am a week and a half later and 5 pounds lighter. I'm thankful that God helped me notice that magazine! I actually was nervous telling hubby I was starting 'another diet' but am so glad we did.

A bit down tonight...
Girl, it's just like kids. You don't notice them growing little by little then suddenly...they're huge! Well, like kids but in the opposite direction Suddenly, your small! hehe

I never notice these things either and I'm so used to bouncing up and down in weight right about where I am now, I probably won't notice a big difference until I get below my trampoline weights.

It works for me...maybe can help you too And you, Vladis!

You are not alone...THAT is a lovely piece of knowledge

I love this At one of our Pure Romance conferences there was a gentleman who did a presentation on this kind of thing. During this part, he was on a TALL unicycle and he showed how you can't just sit on it and not move. You have to constantly keep moving forward and/or back to keep from falling over. Life is that way too. Either you're moving forward or back but you're never still. We just have to concentrate on continuing forward!

Hopefully the next 3 25 minute runs will get easier and easier. I try to run slow to pace myself, but maybe its too slow and that was why my knees were hurting.
FANTASTIC! Good for you!!

The rolling of the foot through the whole step seems to put significantly less pressure and impact on my knees...try it while running once...be mindful of "bouncing up and down" versus rolling through the whole foot all the way to the toes. You might find it ease the pressure on your knees. HTH
Thanks for that! I am also having some trouble with my knees getting sore when I run - I'll pay more attention to how I'm landing on my feet to see if that helps.

I got registered for college last night. I was going for a year and a half until last May entirely online but I was using one of those specialty online colleges which are SSSOOO expensive. I didn't realize how much more it was than 'regular' colleges. So, I dropped and took a little break until now. I will start back in the spring. I just hope most of my credits transfer. Heaven knows I'm going to be paying out the nose on those loans for them I'm a little nervous because I know it's tough to do that (signed up full-time), my full time job AND my Pure Romance business on top of just home, kids and family stuff but I did it before...

I had a good eating day yesterday. I did end up being hungrier yesterday than normal but I held out until it was time for each meal. I ate an egg late just before bed though because I was pretty hungry again. That worked I think I'm still getting used to eating appropriate portion sizes.

Welp, off to get some work done!

That's crap! I'm sorry, but that's a big deal to just 'stop' taking them. Have you tried calling the doctor and letting him/her know what's going on? Maybe they can help push the insurance company. I know with the Wellbutrin that I take if I miss taking them correctly over a weekend it really messes with my moods by Monday. It's dangerous to go cold turkey, I hope they get it sorted out quickly!

I am going to be a bit more careful in my eating today. The miserable thing is that I thought I was so careful yesterday!!! I do think that I was just plain hungry and that caused my weakness and cravings (hunger pangs).
Promise to do better today and will report later

Breakfast was:

A 2we, 3 ew frittata with fresh spinach, sauted onion and red pepper and cherry tomatoes and a little pinch of cheese spread over the top in the last 5 minutes. EZ bread with SF orange marmalade by Polaner. It was delicious. Would also make a good dinner with a nice big salad.

Freakin out and cranky

week 2 day 4
Good morning everyone
I need to vent I am cranky and unsure of this plan I did great the first week almost 9 lbs. Which happens to me on any plan I start. Now I have gained three lbs back in week two. I know I know throw the scale out but........ I have to have a reduction in the scale I need to lose 80lbs not just 10 or 20. I cant turn 80lbs to muscle the scale has to go down. (I am not very patient lol ) I am worried that I will do this plan for weeks and not see any results. How many of you have gained weight the first few weeks that have 60 plus pounds to lose. How did you cope with it It is freakin me out. I could cope with staying the same for week two but I am not coping at all with gaining.
Everyone is so positive on here sorrrrrry for being negative but this is how I am feeling. I am sure other ppl may have this feelilng as well or have had this feeling is the past.
I want to be a believer but struggling today.
I havent went off the plan but I am teetering the slippery slope.

Nina: Why are you weighing in at Day 4? I wouldn't. Wait the full time. Your need to see weight come off is a way you can sabotage yourself into quitting and saying it is not working if you aren't careful. Try to look at the "Big" picture. You didn't put the weight on overnight, it won't come off overnight. It is much easier to put it on than take it off, and right now some of us are taking baby steps toward that bigger picture.

Also, what exactly are you eating? It helped me to go look at the weekly menu threads last night. Gave me a much better idea that maybe I was not eating totally to plan.

We're here, especially Kelley and Alissa with so much insight to help you do all your proper tweaks.

Good luck, and whatever else you do, don't give up, don't ever give up.

I am thinking (only because the same thing happened to me) that it just wasn't enough protein to weigh out the starch. And I ALWAYS find when I eat seafood (fish, shrimp, crab) that I'm hungry shortly after. Maybe because it's leaner protein that there isn't enough "fat" for lack of a better word to sustain us from one meal to the next. I usually have salads with oil/vinegar. My salad yesterday only had vinegar because I put about 2T of light sour cream (a serving) on the potato. I figured the sour cream was my fat (as compared to the oil for the salad) but maybe because it was light it just wasn't enough fat just trying to figure it out too. Yesterday was a weird day for sure.

I am back to carb down today since I want to carb up tomorrow. I am kindof looking forward to not having to worry about the extra starch at lunch. How sad is that....

Rhonda, I am on the same week and day as you. I do like broccoli and veggies but I also like the full fat dressings. I have been using the Good Season's Italian which I make with Canola Oil and it has not affected my weight loss at all and tasted so good. It's a good fat. I use 2T and it is plenty. Just a thought.

Kelly, agree with you 100%. That crab cake was a c..cake. It wasn't filling at all. PLUS, I didn't have a salad (thought I would have enough - surprise). I will make sure my lunch today has a good amount of protein. I might got for a tuna salad (will make it myself) on EZ bread.

Good luck to you today

Alissa, I Third Day! Third Day (and Mercy Me) got me thru some tough times in the past.

I had 2 miscarriages, both at 40 days.

"40 Days"

Here I am at what feels like the end
And so I come to You, my Lord, again
With this burden buried deep within
This heart that You have made
In this trial that I'm going through
I don't question 'cause I know it's true
That the sorrow brings me back to You
And You have made me stronger
It's been forty days and forty nights
Down the road of many trials
And I pray it's only for a season
'Cause in the wilderness and in the flood
You're the one I'm thinking of
And I know You've brought me for a reason
I have one more thing I've got to say
Before they try to take my life away
Let it be known that I am not afraid
Let You will be done, Lord

Yes, Rhonda, that is what I'm talking about and yes you can use the EVOO if you want. I use the Canola because a couple years ago DH had to go to a cholesterol specialist and she recommended Canola over Olive but both are fine and delicious! I've had both.

Wow this board moves fast! :)

I came to check back in and WOW this board moves fast! Congrats to everyone who has dropped more weight or are now fitting into small sized pants! That is AWESOME!!!! Today is Day 4, Week 1 and I was down 6 lbs yesterday! I think I am now at the point in the diet where I am burning fat because I am filled with energy, feel full, and just feel better all in all! Yay!! -6 lbs, now a little over 100 to go My mini goal is 28 lbs gone by Dec. 8th and after the full 8 wks are done I'll restart the plan and keep doing it until the weight is gone! Also, because so many people are doing the C25K program, I downloaded some free podcasts from the program and plan on starting next week! I used to do interval training on the treadmill where I'd speed walk for 1 minute then run for 1 minute, repeat for 40 minutes with 2 sprints in there so I think this program will be right up my alley and I'd LOVE to be able to jog for 30 minutes finally! My friend and I are discussing doing a 5k by the end of next summer! I hope all is well out there!

You hear me, Insurance Gods, NOW
Vladis - I forgot to ask are you getting enough protein and eating AT LEAST every 4 hours? I find I have cravings when I miss a snack or meal or don't get enough protein.

Promise to do better today and will report later

I just wrote you another post, but make sure you are getting protein at every meal!
