It's soooo easy to get behind. I don't have alot of time to catch up in the evenings and when I get back in the mornings, It's so good to see this thread flying. It's hard to stay caught up.

Week 2 is going well so far, I was excited that today was a B day and to have 2 starches today. I did have a small potato at lunch (my weakness, so I was excited to be able to eat it) and I will say that I feel like crude now, a few hours later. I am craving, I feel sluggish, it's weird. Guess I need to stay away from potatoes. I had a hot cocoa protein shake this afternoon thinking that maybe it would curb some of the cravings, but I just feel strange.

Hope you are having a GREAT week.

(And I promise I won't weigh tomorrow! or Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. I'll wait til Wednesday, after baseline and carb-down days.)
You will be so happy you waited! and thanks for the wonderful compliments Pretty soon you will be the expert and spouting all of your wisdom of what you find works for you.

Just make sure you do a Carb DOWN day the day before your Carb UP day and you can switch them around whenever you need them. That is the beauty of the program you can make it fit your life!

Loose pants club!! That is what we are...I would rather have loose pants and SEE results in my physical form than watch the scale go down and not get any REAL results in the form of...well...in the form of my FORM!

Glad your hanging up your scale...better yet...take the battery out!!

p.s. My Americano's are 3 shots of espresso that is what I get for having three little ones around!

THREE shots - one for each little blessing! I can only drink decaf, so I just drink them for the taste.

I can't take the battery out yet. That will be my next big step to ignoring the scale. I'll get there, but in small steps.

Now my favorite pants are starting to loosen, and I think when I drop down to the next few sizes, I'll have them altered so I can still wear them. I'll wait til I'm in a 10 again (long wait!!!!) They are a pair of Ralph Laurens I bought on the sale rack at Macy's for $10! I thought the price was wrong, but it wasn't!

Thanks so much for your support and expertise. I wouldn't be making this progress without you and this support system!

Of course I have to read in between doing work, but still a lot of movement here.

I am glad everyone is having success with the program and enjoying discovering this new WOE. I am thinking of changing my high carb and cheat day to Friday and Saturday too. Maintenance is difficult because you miss your carb up Wednesday (Wine!!!!! )

Okay. Confession, although I am on Week 14? starting to lose track, I still want the scale to show a weight loss. Still scared this WOE won't work for me. If my waist measurement goes up 1/2 an inch, not sure if I am bloated or what. I definitely wish I was as self-assured as you Kelley and Alissa.

Sara
Sara - I'm so looking forward to Fri and Sat - I still like have my Carb up on Wed. My girlfriend from HI is leaving town on Friday morning so she is spending the night here Thurs night so I will probably have a glass or 2 then

As for the measurements going up - TOM, water weight, any number of things. I bet it goes down in a couple of days

I had fun in the whole foods store. we even bought pumkins to sit around for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Last year we had a pumpking that lasted into middle of summer. It amazed us all.

I bought different ez breads and pitas and english muffins. I'm replacing breads we all eat. Kids aren't sure they like a healthy mom they can see where this is leading. I also bought lots of different types of cheese from the deli.

they cost a lot but I told my daughter when you can only use an ounce here an there or sprinkle it's nice to indulge in a variety. they can be small as I will only use a little at a time.

My son says they are a mouthful for him. He's banned from eating the special ones as he has to learn to appreciate the value and how much a little goes a long way.

both kids did say they are proud of me still going strong and they can see the difference. also my daughter likes to read over my shoulder and see who's doing what.

It's nice to hear from those who haven't been on awhile and those just stopping by to check.

Heading to work and trying to figure out what I want my to go crazy meals to be. I look at food now and wonder how healthy is it?
Linda - that is what I've noticed too. On my baseline and carb down days I really think about what I'm putting in my body. On my carb up days I tend to indulge myself a bit. But overall I think I'm much more healthy and know I'm happier!

Hi Kelly,

You must be my lost twin sister
I had a lunch meeting and just dragged myself home.
Just like you - potato is my favorite starch - I had Yukon mashed potatoes and a crab cake for lunch. I didn't eat green beans that came with it because I had a loss of memory as to what's the deal with green beans (even though I had my little cheat notebook in my purse). Anyway, that's all I ate - it was a rather smallish crab cake and maybe 2/3 cup of mashed potato.

Well, I too feel like what you said you feel like I wonder why? Is it like a temporary carb overdose because we were off of them for a while? DI wonder if the "cracker elders" experienced something like that?

I came home and tried to do some time () on my stationary bike but had to quit because I just feel like a rag doll. I want to do my P.M. Callanetics and wonder if I just lie down on the floor and pass out

Nina - Yep - you can have pasta and pizza on your carb up day. You can have fruit, milk and yogurt before week 3 on your carb up day. Wendy just says to wait on Sweets and/or Alcohol until after 21 days on the program. It is not a MUST just a suggestion. Some people went ahead. I waited until after week 3 just because I wanted to make sure I could control myself

I did want to report that I measured,(not weighed),today and am happy to say that I've lost 1&1/2" around my bust and 2" from my waist. YEA! Didn't measure any of the other parts yet.

I am curious about something. On Carb up days it mentions to control the fats yet you can have things like ice cream, pizza etc. That doesn't sound like controlling your fats. What exactly does it mean? dede

I'm not sure about that either. I guess more like don't go overboard??? I usually have pizza for my Carb Up days love it! I don't typically get meat on it though I love veggies!

I had mashed potatoes on Tuesday for my lunch starch and felt okay. I was a little slouchy but then drank some water. Have you been drinking enough water, that may be it? I hope it is something simple and you can still keep enjoying your potatoes!

hee hee.... we can DO this together. I'm thinking carb overload for sure. And I measured the potato it was only 6 oz. Not a huge amount. It was SOOO good too, but I FEEL dreadful, now. I'm gonna slug some water as I go pick up the kidlets.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

P.S. What callanetics dvd did you order from amazon? I was going to get one, but wasnt' sure which one to start with 10/10 or evolution.

Week 3 Day 3

Hi all....

Well, the scales aren't moving, but I'm sticking with it. I had a great workout today, so that was fun.

I measured yesterday for the first time. So that will give me another way to track any progress.

Hi Meatpea,
I don;t know what was up with that. I do drink a ton of water - that's something I've been doing for a very long time. Tomorrow is another Baseline day so I am curious to find out how I'd do tomorrow.

Congrats on your new-found pants!
I did end up doing my callanetics routine (the champion that I am).

I do AM/PM - every session is only 20 minutes long and it gives you a mixed variety of exercises. I figured it's a good way to start. I have 10/10 as well and when I watched it first i found it to be a bit long for starters. And if you don't do the whole thing then some parts of your body wouldn't get any work out. I think as I get a bit more familiar with the exercises and a bit stronger I'd move to 10/10.

Are you feeling any better?

Vladis, I have had the "carb-flu" before...and yes you can learn how to eat to balance it out...most important (IMHO) is to keep drinking LOTS of water

Sara, I'd wait...lack of sleep can really whip you...I guess it depends on how you are feeling come "run time". Sometimes a break and a nap can boost you BIG TIME

I hope you sleep well tonight!

Week 4 Day 3

Hi everyone, I'm really happy to hear how well everyone is doing. This is an awesome WOE. I had a carb up day today and did just fine. I find that I feel like I will be able to eat a lot but when I eat I fill up so fast! I guess my stomach has shrunk so I can't eat as much. Anyway, I did enjoy the day. It's a good feeling knowing you can have what you want if you want it. I am on week 4 day 3 and am down 16 lbs. It's so nice not to be hungry and craving food all the time.
Good luck everyone!

I'm on W5 D2 and am not getting it done today either - just got home from meeting with my college advisor, ate dinner hubby had ready and now everyone's waiting on me to carve pumpkins (plus it's DARK and COLD outside). I'll do it tomorrow then Saturday.

Wendy you are officially on OUR VOODOO SCALE LIST! Once again:

STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE, THE SCALE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. DO NOT MEASURE YOUR PROGRESS ON THIS PROGRAM WITH THE SCALE - YOU ARE ONLY TORTURING YOURSELF.

Do you want a smaller number or smaller pant size???

How do I shrink and not loose on the scale?
"One pound of muscle and one pound of fat are NOT the same size.

If I place one pound of muscle on a scale and one pound of fat on a scale, they will both weigh one pound. The difference is in total volume. One pound of muscle may appear to be the size of baseball; one pound of fat will be three times the size and look like a squiggly bowl of Jell-O.

Why is it that we can lose sizes, yet the scale remains the same? Because muscle weighs more than fat...

Muscle is a denser tissue and thus takes up less room than an equal weight of fat. That's why it's possible to lose inches but show no changes in scale weight. Having more muscle means you have a more desirable body composition, or fat-to-muscle ratio. You may still weigh the same, but your body will look different, smaller, better and tighter. Though it may take you a few weeks to see measurable changes, you begin to put on muscle and burn calories from the moment you start exercising.

The muscle weight you gain also beefs up your metabolism which in turn, helps you to burn off more fat. Talk about a win-win situation! (You won't jiggle as much at your ideal weight, either

Thank you Kelley This WOE has changed my attitude for sure! I'm just glad I was standing in that checkout line at the grocery store that day and saw Women's World or I never would have known about this diet. After reading it I went online and found the book and ordered it. While waiting for the book I found this site and I'm so happy I did. Having you and others to answer questions has made it less confusing. I have so much more energy now. It's amazing what a few lbs. gone will do! Thanks!

Good evening~~~

Kelley, I hope you are still on
It's been a weird day - didn't have much time to read the posts and missed doing that terribly. I work mostly from home and even when I do work I keep an eye on what's happening with my WOE friends. Today was a lot of running around.

It was also my first baseline day and I "crashed" after my second starch of the day (yeh, yeh, yeh - I do drink A LOT of water, like 3-4 liters a day)

I also noticed that I had awful cravings tonight. So far I reached only for chicken breast and Atkins shake (OK, OK - I did put a very LIBERAL amount of whipped cream on top - the organic one, no sugar, no fat).

What's up with that? Are those things normal after carb-deplete week? I don't want to blow this program (I refuse to call it a "diet").

Also, even though I lost 7 pounds I haven't noticed much difference in my clothing. My husband said that my face looks thiner and my arms (7 pounds worth???!!!). I know that whatever gains weight last would be lost first (hence my fingers seem thinner as well).
A bit down tonight...

Okay, well it took me all day to recover from getting beat up so badly in here last night, you all left and left me by myself to get picked on by the voodoo scale people in here! No seriously, I've been at work today, went and worked out and then taught a class tonight. Been busy on my first baseline day.

All in all I did a great job with eating I think, though. I have a question though. With regards to EZ bread, 2 slices is one serving per Wendy, right? So, does that mean if you want to have bread at breakfast and lunch you would have 1 slice for breakfast and 1 slice for lunch or 2 at each?

Linda: Great job!

Never Mind, Found It

I found the menu thread, and I found it all by myself!

See, I'm not so helpless after all, just tired. Asked the question before my brain thought about going to look for it!
