Felt quilty yesterday, as I had more protein than I should have at lunch- meatballs, and some roastbeef in sour sauce - leftovers from the holidays (celery, garlic, a bit of cubed potatoes, parsley, water, salt and pepper and some lemon juice- I cook meatballs in it- yum- and serve it on rice)- the kids were in heaven!! Had just aT of PB and a shake for M4, anFF NS ice cream pop (33 cal, 1.2carb) later in the evening as M5, and that was it...
So..... when I got on the scale this morning, I was in heaven!!!
Didn't have a moment this morning- my DS11 got up along with me, so he had me on my toes till he left the house, and then I was in a rush to get out to the gym.
Tried a hot coffee shake this morning- YUM!!!(M1)
(M2) Had the 1-minute muffin again- doubled the b.powder, as yesterday it was heavy, and it puffed up like a double muffin- sliced it in 3 to the length- dribbled it with about 1/3 t. honey, and had it with some cottage cheese. Yum Yum Yum. My DSalmost18 tasted it and loved it!!
Can I put a bit of honey on it all the time?, or just on D days? NS jam has 4 carbs in 2 t. , and I had less than 1t. honey... waddya say, Kelley???

Filled me up for 4.5 hours til I came home to the spaghetti lunch my DSalmost21 made. It was decedent to come home to a meal someone else cooked, even though it was my recipe and instructions!

BTW-My Pilates instructor remarked twice today about how toned I've become- let her think it's just her Pilates ;-)- once about my tummy in a killer tummy exercise, and once later, as a general comment. It's in the middle of a crowded class, and there I am with my 9baby belly,LOL, with 3 c sections thrown in... LOVE IT!!! I'm not talking about this WOE- our secret, right??

My DD27 remarked yesterday that I'm looking good, you oldies know that from her, that is a great remark!!! I've watched her gimme a once over afew times- and had to squeeze it out of her by asking her if she liked the outfit I wore when we met at the supermarket- so she answered-yes, and "You know I never say anything, but you ARE looking good!" No animosity, she's just a bit reserved and sensitive, like my DH.... who I am still training, LOL!

Did you do this all along? I'm also "clean" til lunch, had spaghetti and LF cheese with my famous tomato, mushroom and olive sauce, shared some candy with the kids.... that was M3. Took a nap (we have siesta here, when the kids let me.... and I slept for almost 1.5 hours- that was the spaghetti talking!) I'm used to measuring 1C pasta, and today I had an extra few strands to celebrate carb-up!!
Tip for getting LF cheese to melt in the micro. I spray it with a bit of EVOO spray!
M4 was coffee and a small bag of apple chips (green tree- just apples, no sugar or fat)-it was too sweet, and 6-7 Mentos the kids left me from their candyfest- they offered more, but I said NO!!! I'll have a shake later and go off to a wedding. I don't think we'll stay for the meal, but if we do stay for some of it, I may just have something.
Is all this OK for carb-up? No kidding? No cheating? LOVE IT!!!!

This can be great on B days, as I don't like carbs at breakfast- so I can double them up at lunch??? (M3 by me...)

How encouraging- got to the gym late again, and the 3 ellipticals were taken, so I got on the treadmill (have one in my bedroom, but it's full of clothes , towels(I get the right side, DH the left...) and blankets ) Tried to start c25k, and couldn't run a full minute. Good to hear I'm not alone. Did 3 intervals of the best I could, and went off to my Pilates class.
May just do some weightlifting to get everything off the treadmill, and try it at home on the days I don't go to the gym!!

I've also dreamed about food- how embarrassing... but it's happened less over the past few months- it may be low blood sugar, deprivation, or whatever......

As you see form all my DSalmosts... we have a bunch of birthdays coming up here- I make them the cake of their choice... but the parties are on Saturday,
so carb-up here I come!!!
Love this WOE!!

Sorry for bragging so much today

Good to see how everyone's done so well- everyone's so happy here!!! Must be our WOE!!!!

Tam - See you've been so down on yourself and everyone else is noticing! Yeah YOU! I'm the wrong person to ask about the honey - I love it! I say give it a try. Your Carb Up day sounds wonderful - I love mushrooms and olives in my spaghetti. Yep, I've been doing my version of carb up day since about week 4!

Was in a bit of a rush this morning so for afternoon snack I just have cheese sticks (2) -1 g carb per stick. But am I suppose to have something with them.. can't remember

I was reading more of the book last night and writing some notes in a little notepad I keep in my purse.. quick reference..lol I think by writing I will remember and also not "over analyze" the program. When it is broke down it is not that hard, but to start with it's a little hard to get a grasp but soon it will be habit. I can't wait for a cheat day..lol

My regular weigh in days are Wednesday.. have been for about 10 years. Although I will admit have been known to weigh daily but the "official" day is wednesday. So I weighed on Monday with the start of the plan and am down 3 pounds from Monday - but from last Wednesday I am the same. I had a pretty high carb weekend.

TTFN
Hi there! Great Job, you just need to add a little more protein to that cheese stick. Remember cheese is considered a fat on this plan and you want to eat protein at every meal.

Wed - are the perfect days to weigh because it will take the bloat away from your carb up day on Sat!

Thanks again...you are a wealth of knowledge....and an inspiration!

I got that, but wanted to make sure you knew you can have your cake and eat it too on Carb Up days! My philosphy for Carb Up is to enjoy and eat until full not stuffed. You may find your first couple of Carb Up days you go a lilttle nuts but then when you realize 'hey, I only have a couple of days until I can have this again' you begin to settle down, eat slowly and enjoy. I'm just so happy, even my hubby asks, "is it carb up day when he wants pasta or pizza"

That was too funny, Pam!!! Kelley called it a Whole Foods plan...I call it carb-cycling of clean carb...it is NOT a low carb plan.

Smart carb plan! Yeah!! I like that!!!

Kelley!!

I find I do "better" (in how I physically feel) when I eat "clean" until lunch...then I open it up and don't stuff. I drink LOADS of water...it helps minimize the "carb" high and lows Which I don't feel on the day after anymore (unless I am dancing with those dastardly candy corns )

TO BE CONTINUED...
Hey there Alissa - I'm very into Smart Carb, Carb Cycling Whole Foods - All of the Above really!

Congratulations Linda on your loss, you go girl!

vicky I have a cat that is your cat's twin, his name is Bob.

off to the health food store to see what goodies i can find.

If you know something is your achilles heel in dieting please go for something else. Don't let the bad food back till you've really know you have control. Chocolate and cokes will not be added before week 8 for me. I know me, I will not sabotage myself. I'm too happy with me right now.

Thanks for everyone working hard to be there for each other.

Pam!

Chips and salsa...seriously one of my total weaknesses...GUESS WHAT?? You can make chips out of the EZ tortillas and have chips and salsa on carb down AND baseline days if you want!! You'll love it...

Just cut the tortilla into pieces, sprak (very sparsly) with EVOO and sprinkle lightly with garlic salt, bake in oven at 380 (I sometimes use 375) for about 10 mins...I let mine sit in oven for an extra 5 mins with the oven off...then let ten cool on the counter for another 5 mins...VOILA!!! Crispy tortilla chips Cracker Style

p.s. I bake mine on a stone, baking times may vary slightly depending on what kind of baking surface you use

Dear Lady,

I was corrected by Linda (TylersGM)...apparently you can have fruit on carb up days in week 2 and 3...MY BAD! I did not have any...not a big fruit person as it opens the flood gates for my sweet tooth. Also, there is some discussion on milk there too...Kelley and Linda said we can have milk on carb up days...again...MY BAD! Again, not being a milk person (unless it was in my Latte which I have changed into a Americano thereby eliminating milk in total from my diet! )...I was wrong on this count too apparently.

I hope I did not confuse you more!!

Ok it is carb down day for me because I had the medical procedure yesterday. Anyway, I want to make sure I am eating enough or eating too much. This is what I had today so far:

M1 Oats with strawberry atkins shake
M2 Protein Shake
M3 Cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes EVO and ACV, 2 oz Turkey breast, 1/2 of lowfat 2% cottage cheese
M4 Protein shake atkins

Dinner I plan on having chicken, salad and a veg.

Thanks for the help

Week 3 Day 3

Hopefully I will get a picture put up on here tonight. It is quite cool here today for Florida. But I love it. I don't like the heat, palm trees or sand. So I really need to be somewhere else! I would love to see snow again. It has been quite some time. Well tomorrow is carb up day and I don't know if I am looking forward to it or not. We have pool though so can't wait until next week so I can have a drink again when I go out.
Everyone seems to be doing good. Keep up the good work. I went walking on Monday for an hour and both my knees were killing me and my hip. But today I am fine. I walked at lunch around our building here at work about 4 times. Hope to walk again tonight with my girlfriend. That is about as much exercise that I have been doing so far. Hope to increase. I better get back to work. I will check in later.

Kim

Well, I've been quiet since the weekend, but thought that I might add a little bit to the conversation.

This morning I noted that my ring that I normally wear on my left hand is very loose, loose enough to move it to my right hand so it doesn't come off unnoticed. That is a small thing, but we need to take our positive cues where we can find them. My "measuring pants" will probably be tried on tonight!

I've come to grips with two things--number one--I can drink a caffe americano in the morning and not even feel deprived because it isn't a latte--and number two--portion size is something to remember. I'm not hungry so it is easier to eat smaller portions and smaller portions are enough. I don't need a huge pile of anything on my plate and it will help as we get farther into the cycle.

I haven't weighed my self since Kelley "gave me heck" but I might try at the beginning of next week to see how I am doing.

Thanks for all of the good ideas that I get from all of you when I read the thread. Some of it is about the WOE and some of it is about life. Both are helpful.

Same for me as far as the ring goes. I have gotten into a pair of pants that wouldn't even go together before I started this and last night I wore them. But I have that really skinny pair that I am shooting for about two sizes smaller. I am going to wait until next week to weigh. I had some medical things done yesterday and couldn't eat for a day and a half so I think that kind of through my body off alittle so we will see. But you are right every little positive does count!! So keep up the good work. My motto is one day at a time!!

One Minute Muffin

Hi Ladies - I just wanted to share the way I make the muffins. First of all, I have one type of protein shake that I bought at Walmart that has a sweetness to it. And I also have one that I bought at GNC that has no sweetness. So Kelley, this one is for you since you said you don't like to use sweetners. I use 1/8 C vanilla shake (unsweetened kind) 1/8 C flax meal, dash of salt, dash of garlic powder, 1/2 t baking powder. I mix those together in a cereal bowl that has straight sides. Then I add 1/4 C egg beaters (you could use one egg or egg whites if you prefer). Stir it up to mix in the dry ingredients and microwave for one minute. Then you can slice it into about three slices and use it like bread. Sometimes it's nice to have a sandwich later in the day and this does the trick. Also for my chocolate sweet tooth, I make it this way - 1/8 C each of flax meal and chocolate protein shake, dash of salt, 1/2 t baking powder, 1 T cocoa, 1 t of cinnamon, 2 pks of sweetner. Mix up the dry ingredients in a mug, add 1/4 C egg beaters and microwave for one minute. This makes about six slices. Sometimes, if it gets a little dry, I use a squirt of whipped cream on top. Yummy! There are a lot of variations to try - just use your imagination.

Yes I remember reading that, I will have to scrounge around the dietary and see what they got, if not will just not have that snack. I am full from lunch.. had salad (lettuce, cucumber, lean ground beef, and acv with splenda)

Thanks for the reminder though. I need to really get my little quick reference book done. Maybe tonight

TTFN -

Everyone here is so successful.. love all the positive too.
