Thanks for the suggestions Tam. We are renting a condo on both Oahu and the Big Island. So there will be refrig, microwave, oven, etc. We did it to save money cause we'll be feeding two small kids (11 and 7) that can eat like they are 2 adults! Man, I do not know where those kids put the food, but I guess they run as much of it off as they eat! Their Mom, my niece, the kids (great-niece and great-nephew) went for Mexican food after we went to the pumpkin patch yesterday. I swear they ate alot more than I did and I was on carb up! I don't bother to keep them to kids meals if they say they are hungry if we go to a restaurant. They would eat 2 kids meals each! Elijah's loves shrimp, crab, etc. Both of them will eat just about anything. Anyway, we will be eating at the condos most mornings, and packing lunch while we go to the beaches, etc. Some dinners out, but most in. I don't think I will be too bad, but want to be prepared for it before I go. I know that there is a Walmart on both islands, so Atkins here I come!

Amazed and grateful, that's what you are! (I look at this fellow as wildly shaking his head yes). That is great that you are almost right back where you want to be! Alot of needless worry! Congrats!

Okay. Heading to bed. Hopefully my boss is feeling better and I can go back to work tomorrow. We are only a 2 person office, so neither one wants the other to get sick. Problem is that I did not work the last 2 weeks, so no pay. Then 2 weeks off + in November (holidays). Need to work - me need money to go play!

Later, my skinnier than you thought friend!

Connie

The Lovely Tam and Connie!!

I knew you two would be up burning the midnight oil (or in Tam's case kicking off her day...or is it in full swing now?)

Dear Connie...I WANT TO GO TO HAWAII!!! Actually I want to take my kiddies to Disneyland when all is said and done...that is our next vacation! You will have a blast in the sun and surf!!

Dearest TAM!!
YAY!! I am so pleased to read your news...great job...see how sometimes that darn scale can play tricks on us...staying off of it cal sometimes do wonders for us once we step back on Great job lady...and if those cravings can't seem to get kicked...see what Wildcat posted above (or on last weeks last page)...Wendy told her to do 4 deplete days...since carb downs did not stop the cravings. Interesting, see how you can make up for holidays and "life" eating in general. I am so glad you stuck with us I love hearing about your family and holidays and food...YUMMM FOOD!!!
KUTGW TAM!!

I just finished reviewing all or the tests, results, recommendations, evaluations, goals and objectives for my youngest (DD6) IEP tomorrow (that is Individualized Education Plan...for kiddos with differing/delayed/adaptive abilities basically)... Over 80 pages of the stuff.

I must say, this is the first time I am pleased with the outcome...I did have a rather lengthy discussion with the whole "Team" about my concerns/issues regarding the new placement (ie she is in Kindergarten now and moved on from our special ed pre-school) and their lack of awareness of her level of need for safety...ANYHOO...there I go hijacking the thread ...I plumb forgot how stressed this whole thing has been making me as well...so gald to put this to rest soon. Tomorrow morning is our meeting, likely to take several hours...but I will say I am pleased with what they have put together and am pleasently finding myself optimistic for tomorrow's meeting. This "Team" really seems to "get" Megs and her areas of strengths and weaknesses were adequately addressed. I am a happy mommy...let's see how tomorrow unfolds.

Until then ladies..I am off...nighty night!

OnexOne - we all have days like that the important thing is we get back on track. It was rainy and cold here too on Sat. I do like my comfort food on days like that.

Just get out and walk. No need for a gym

OMG, Jackie, you're making this much harder than it is. I keep wanting to count everything, but I think this is it:

Carb Down Days: 1 carb meal before 3:00 pm
Baseline Days: 2 carb meals before 3:00 pm
Carb Up Days: Carb meals last 2 meals of the day

I was reading it as 1 carb before 3:00 pm I was thinking how am I supposed to have a sub and chips plus a tomato? That's more than 1 carb, then it hit me, it's meal not 1 carb!

It just continues to cycle, do each week of each cycle, then start all over again except with the deplete week, right? Until you get to where you want to be, and continuing will just ensure that you stay where you want to be, right?

This is amazing if I have it right now!

Love it, Love it, Love it. I love this new body I'm on my way to!
ENJOY!

Adding fruit this week will be nice, I like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Or apples slices with peanut butter or cheddar cheese. Having one of these to celebrate my b-day tomorrow.

Jeanie my reply to you was on other thread but the jist of it was you are heading to week 3 with the rest of us.

I'm heading to bed but see you all tomorrow.
SO SORRY I'M LATE!

And now I have to burst your bubble - NO FRUIT except on Carb Up days until Weeks 7 and 8 and then you can have fruit on baseline days.

I also wonder about this.... how does it impact our blood sugar- it would really help me at times... I'm not so sure it's allowed... did anyone find out about this??

I am a big believer in Pilates, as it really strengthens the core- I have a great instructor, though my DB did it with Pilates for Dummies, and was very successful. I prefer the classes.
Tam - I had a tussle with brie and french bread this weekend and lost! So don't despair. If you can't control the cravings maybe do what Wildcat is (per info from Wendy).

FYI, I am just finishing my first week tonight, tomorrow I start week 2! I made it through the hard part, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought that it might be. I am a person who is on the road for work and it is tough to find places to eat, so I just packed up my cooler with things that I could have and it worked great. My only complaint is having to stop about once every 45 minutes to pee!! At times it is tough to find a good bathroom. I am anxious to have carbs here and there this next week, and a lot larger list of things to choose from. Yes, I do have the book, and have read it, and now will just need to get used to the different types of days and what they mean and when they are allowed. I guess that I will carry the book with me for a while. I also need to start excersizing this week, which is a lot harder than the diet part. I'll just have to do it! Anyway, wanted to say hi. I'm in Oregon and wondering if anyone else on this board lives in Oregon??
Here I go...week 2!!!
Oh, and I will weigh tomorrow and see my results after 7 days!!

I so agree with Connie - YOU have done a wonderful job given your wonderful holidays with all those yummy foods. YOU should be proud of what you have accomplished and know you can get right back on the wagon when things settle down.

Good Morning everyone!

I was so pleased to weigh myself this morning and be down another 1/2 pound after my first carb-up/baseline weekend! I didn't expect that. Yesterday I drank so much water I felt like I was sloshing! Is that normal after a carbg-up day? I was so thirsty all day. One time, when I thought I was hungry, and not at a meal time, I just drank water and that did the trick. I ran a lot of errands, and I'm quickly learning where all my favorite stores hide their bathrooms! I didn't even know JoAnn Etc. had one!

Anyways, I'm so thrilled to have found Wendy's way. I was getting more and more depressed about my weight, and the more I did that, the more I figured it was hopeless and would eat anything. This is the first time in about 4 years that I fell like I can be in control of what goes into my mouth because Wendy did all the thinking, and I just have to act on it. Seeing the scale go down, even if it's only a little, is very validating for me. I weigh myself every morning just to see, but I don't record my weight as official until Monday. Eventually I'll forget the scale during the week ( Iread all the posts about it) and let my clothes tell the story.

Have a great day today, everyone, and thanks for being here!

Julie

Tam-I know how hard it is when the kids are home. Mine say I'm the best cook in the world ( they just say that to make me want to cook for them),so I like to show off and cook all the things they like that I can't have now! It will be interesting to see what happens when they're all home for the holidays. I just keep saying my mantra " nothing tastes as good as thin,(and healthy) feel!

Welcome Mitzy! Sounds like you're off to a great start. How smart that you thought to put good foods in the cooler and take them along. I think planning is key to this WOE.

What About?

[QUOTE=Mischief1;11046265]Jackie, it means One Serving of Carbs at one meal before 3 pm for Carb Down Days, and One Serving of Carbs at 2 meals before 3 pm on a Baseline Day, but on Carb Up days you eat primarily carbs, with a smaller amount of protein.
Now, that means on a carb down day, you could still have carbs at both breakfast and lunch by eating 1/2 serving at each meal. For instance, a piece of EZ bread with your eggs (or whatever) for breakfast, and then another 1/2 serving of another carb at lunch.

Thanks, Connie. But what about on page 184 in the book on Carb-Down Day plan, she lists onion, tomato and salsa on lettuce wraps. Isn't that more than 1 serving at a time? That's 3 different carb items. Or is it just one lettuce wrap like that with all three of those different carb items?

Maybe I don't get it after all!

week 3,day1 Pumpkin pancakes

Okay.I just made something awesome for breakfast. Used Wendy's crepe recipe and added 1/4c canned pumpkin. According to the Libby's can.1/4c would be half of what they call a serving and has 20 cal, 0.25g fat,4.5c, and 1g protein. Was it bad that I did that? Sure was good! I also added 1/2 tsp vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Hey, Connie, Kelley, Alissa and Dede- you are soooo sweet!
Feeling great today- I think part of it is that even though I went a bit wild last night, it wasn't sugar, so things are settling down by me...
We are waiting for the pizza to arrive, and even though I haven't eaten for over 4 hours- I am fine.... blood sugar steady (it wasn't yesterday, to say the least!!)
Alissa- I have been weighing EVERY DAY!! (barring Sabbath and holidays that are "holydays"...)That's why I was so shocked

Hey, DEDE- do the holidays my way, and you will be fine- at least will maintain, or even lose!!!

Jackie - YOU ARE NOT COUNTING CARBS BUT STARCHES - TOMATOES AND SALSA ARE NOT THE STARCHES THAT WENDY IS TALKING ABOUT. Go to your approved starch list:

EZ bread, rice, grits, cream of wheat, black and red beans, etc... those are the starches you can have 1 or 2 before 3 PM. Your tomatoes are considered a veggie - you can have 1 cup per serving.

I also added 1/2 tsp vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Sounds yummy! Enjoy and I still haven't tried my pumpkin shake.

No.. no... no- you can have non starchy vegetables- they are not carbs!!! Carbs are potatoes, get it?

Get this from Page 101 from the book:

Type V Vegetable Requirements and Substitutions
• You may consume the following listed foods in
unlimited quantities with proteins or a meal. Don’t
snack between meals on veggies.
Asparagus
Broccoli
Cabbage
Celery
Lettuce
Mushrooms
Radicchio
Radishes
Spinach
• You may consume any other veggies not listed in
minimum (1 cup) quantities.
• Do not eat carrots, corn, peas, or beets except on
carb-up days.

So, up to 1 cup tomatoes and onions are fine!!!!
Enjoy!!!

hi everyone, you all were busy without me...I'm not even going to try to read 6-7 pages that I missed over the weekend.

I had a bad weekend so yes it must have been in the air. Wasn't so bad with food but went to a halloween party and had way to much to drink. THen yesterday with a hangover nothing taste better than a nice greasy pizza. just didn't really eat much of anything yesterday. So should I do 2 carb down days???? or do a baseline start on week 4???? I'm not craving just needed to get the alcohol out of my system. Lots of water for me...

Welcome to all the newbies....and Happy Birthday Linda

Alissa- I have been weighing EVERY DAY!! (barring Sabbath and holidays that are "holydays"...)That's why I was so shocked

Hey, DEDE- do the holidays my way, and you will be fine- at least will maintain, or even lose!!!

Glad you're not beating yourself up anymore. Movin'on right?! I will take your advice about holidays!

*sighs*

okay here I am again.

Restart #2

I got sick - very sick (I'm still sick, frankly) and stopped posting right around Yom Kippur.

When I don't check in with y'all, I don't stay On Program.

And you know that can't be good.

Here I go carb-depleting again. This time I'm making it the full 8 weeks.

I decided to fully restart, since Wendy said we can do this twice a year (and no more) and it was about half a year ago when I first started. I was getting dizzy trying to mini-deplete and keep track of where I was, so I figure a full restart is better for my brain.

I feel a bit like the George character on Grey's Anatomy a few seasons back, repeating my 'intern year' -- ah well...
How has everyone been?

Naomi

Okay so it wasn't bad to add that little bit of pumpkin? Forgot to say that 1/4cup pumpkin has 2.5g fiber! Here I go again singing the praises of the pumpkin. ha! You all know how I feel about it.

Your turn to make the shake now. dede

Hi there. Sounds like you've had a hard time. Know what? If I can do this ANYONE can. On my third week and feel so proud of myself for coming this far. I truely believe that if you do the first week exactly right, you lose your cravings. I sure don't feel like I'm on a diet. Oh wait...I'm not. Just a healthy new way of eating!

Week 3 Day 1 12lbs lost

Good Morning everyone!

Congrats mitzy on making week 1, you are clever at figuring out your obstacles ahead of time.

Everyone who lost weight? You did it, keep it up! Week 1's how did you do?Brag a little.

I lost 2 lbs. so it's working for me. If I could keep that up I might could catch up with Alissa!

I start coaching my daughter and the twins today. Gave the DVD to the twins to watch and my daughter has everything she could possibly need for week 1. Once her mind is made up she is a rock.

Going to the movies to celebrate my birthdya which is today. Told everyone who knows I love chocolate so I get a lot for my birthday to save it till week 8. They'll forget by then.................

Vladis? you said wait till Monday, ok, how did you do?

I did see fruit wasn't allowed while reading the book this morning. That's ok, I can take it or leave it. I have will power.

I think when you are starving you should go back to a deplete day, 1or 2. They get you back in control.

well, off to eat oatmeal will check in again.......................
