We can have fruit just not every day and not w/out measure. I used to have grapes just about every day by a pound!!! Not a good thing. I am not sure what's the deal with milk (I can't drink it anyway) but, as someone pointed out, there's a mention of ice-cream on carb-up days so I would think that on baseline you can have some milk.

Gerri, if you stop by - please clarify this one for us!!!

Main thing is this is the least restrictive program I've ever heard of or been on. If not this one, then what? AND, you have all of us here to help you thru!!! If you made a mistake, the beauty of this program is that you can fix it and move on! Stay with us, Nina!

Thanks for the encouragement I am still trying to stick to the plan I did well on week one almost 9 lbs but have gained back 2lbs so far on week two (I know I know I should throw out my scale) I am still hanging in there.
Nina

It did dawn on me about 15 minutes ago that today is a B day and I can have cinnamon raisin french toast. WOOHOO! That sounds heavenly.

How did you do yesterday?

We ended up going to my favorite italian restaurant after open house last night. I was dying... but I passed on the bread and ended up ordering a grilled chicken breast over a bed of spinach with a side of steamed veggies rather than pasta. We go there often and love the staff, so the manager brings out our food and asks, "who had the healthy plate" I was pleased that I'd made the right choice. It was REALLLY good. I ate about 1/2 of it and got the rest to go. Tonight is biblestudy so I'll feed the kids before I go and have leftovers when I get back. WOOHOO!

One thing that shocked me, they have awesome iced tea. The best. In the past I'd put 2 splendas in one glass. So I do the same last night and it was terribly sweet, I ended up sipping about 1/2 of it and asked for a refill, it was perfect then. It was shocking how sweet something is when you haven't had sugar/sweets in a while. I thought it was a good sign that I may not over do it on Friday (my carb up day).

Hey lady
Glad you are doing well. Way to go - "healthy plate" I bet you soon your relatives will be asking you (no - BEGGING you) to let them in on your secret WOE weapon.

I have been avoiding eating out. Today I am meeting a client for lunch so I am on the restaurant's website picking my food.

I have been having weird cravings at night - I do have 4-5 meals a day and sometimes I am not even hungry during the day. I have my last snack (usually protein shake) around 9 pm and last week that was enough. This week I feel hungry around 11 (I go to bed late) so I had to reach for some protein (chicken breast strips). I hope that was OK (hey, it's not candy)

I also started exercising - Callanetics. Love it. Feel it in every part of my body. Hurts

Let's check in with each other again - Good luck, Kelly!!!!

I loved the chicken chili receipe. I told my daughter I was making chili tonight It's D day but might as well stick with the chicken and can have it with my ez bread.

I was looking for more stuff by ez and could only find cereal. they had several varieties. so looking forward to that. My class last night surprised me with another cake, this will happen all week till I get through them all. But getting good at the slight of hand. I cut the cake and made them large pieces. none left for me and went an washed my hands so the icing wouldn't tempt me. everybody happy.

Wanna know what motivated me even more last night?????????

I went down a pants size! I saw some pants hanging in my closet that wouldn't even go over my big butt and thought well, hell let's see how much further I need to go. they slipped right up and zipped no problem. I was a proud peacock let me tell you. Thought about sleeping in them. I'm going through my whole closet to see what else does and getting rid of the ones I started this with. Well maybe save one pair for the Oprah show...

Ladies run to your closets you might be there already for the next size if not you can see how close you are. I have arrands to run but be back later.

This program works , by new years we are gonna be looking good!

Yeah for you! Doesn't down a pant size feel so much better than that number on the scale????

Just for your info Jerri has told us more than once to take full advantage of our carb up days. She says many people feel that if they don't they will lose more weight but it actually works against you. So have that regular bread - nice crusty french bread or corn bread would be so wonderful with your chili!

click on the "+ icon on the bottom right side of the message, you can go thru all the messages clicking on that icon and then post your reply.

I tried it yesterday and it took me FOREVER to get thru a few pages of posts, then when I got to the reply with all the quotes, I forgot what I wanted to say. Plus my fog brain couldn't see past all the html codes to figure out what was the quote I wanted to respond to.

What I did today, was read and post reply at that message, I post and then hit the back browser button twice, it put me right back to the post I was reading. Granted it gives you a slew of posts, but it was more efficient for me.

P.S. I just had my cinnamon raisin french toast with a little sf syrup and it was DELISH! Sadly, we've eaten out more than I'd like, but I think I've made good choices. Definitely thinking about what I'll eat before I go is the key. Knowing what I'm eating before I walk in the door has helped with any temptations. Good luck.

isn't it funny how food takes over our subconscious. "Lady, walk away from the bread"

week two day three
Soooooooo do I have it right on the carb up days you are eating more carbs than protein to shake up your metabolism. Just how does that work? Is it that you dont let the body go into that starvation mode and it uses the handy carbs then the next day it searches for the fat not thinking it is starving.

4.5 is great! Shoot, that's exactly where I am and I'm doing the happy dance I'm also W2 D3. This is the first time in a long time my scale has stayed relatively steady...not up and down and up and down. Just a little down

What a great idea! I got some Asian Dressing the other day that I actually loved but I think I'll ditch it and find something else. It's got something like 11 or 12g fat. Seems like a lot.

I have returned....

0.4 lbs to back to the lowest.... Felt quilty yesterday, as I had more protein than I should have at lunch- meatballs, and some roastbeef in sour sauce - leftovers from the holidays (celery, garlic, a bit of cubed potatoes, parsley, water, salt and pepper and some lemon juice- I cook meatballs in it- yum- and serve it on rice)- the kids were in heaven!! Had just aT of PB and a shake for M4, anFF NS ice cream pop (33 cal, 1.2carb) later in the evening as M5, and that was it...
So..... when I got on the scale this morning, I was in heaven!!!
Didn't have a moment this morning- my DS11 got up along with me, so he had me on my toes till he left the house, and then I was in a rush to get out to the gym.
Tried a hot coffee shake this morning- YUM!!!(M1)
(M2) Had the 1-minute muffin again- doubled the b.powder, as yesterday it was heavy, and it puffed up like a double muffin- sliced it in 3 to the length- dribbled it with about 1/3 t. honey, and had it with some cottage cheese. Yum Yum Yum. My DSalmost18 tasted it and loved it!!
Can I put a bit of honey on it all the time?, or just on D days? NS jam has 4 carbs in 2 t. , and I had less than 1t. honey... waddya say, Kelley???

Filled me up for 4.5 hours til I came home to the spaghetti lunch my DSalmost21 made. It was decedent to come home to a meal someone else cooked, even though it was my recipe and instructions!

BTW-My Pilates instructor remarked twice today about how toned I've become- let her think it's just her Pilates ;-)- once about my tummy in a killer tummy exercise, and once later, as a general comment. It's in the middle of a crowded class, and there I am with my 9baby belly,LOL, with 3 c sections thrown in... LOVE IT!!! I'm not talking about this WOE- our secret, right??

My DD27 remarked yesterday that I'm looking good, you oldies know that from her, that is a great remark!!! I've watched her gimme a once over afew times- and had to squeeze it out of her by asking her if she liked the outfit I wore when we met at the supermarket- so she answered-yes, and "You know I never say anything, but you ARE looking good!" No animosity, she's just a bit reserved and sensitive, like my DH.... who I am still training, LOL!

Did you do this all along? I'm also "clean" til lunch, had spaghetti and LF cheese with my famous tomato, mushroom and olive sauce, shared some candy with the kids.... that was M3. Took a nap (we have siesta here, when the kids let me.... and I slept for almost 1.5 hours- that was the spaghetti talking!) I'm used to measuring 1C pasta, and today I had an extra few strands to celebrate carb-up!!
Tip for getting LF cheese to melt in the micro. I spray it with a bit of EVOO spray!
M4 was coffee and a small bag of apple chips (green tree- just apples, no sugar or fat)-it was too sweet, and 6-7 Mentos the kids left me from their candyfest- they offered more, but I said NO!!! I'll have a shake later and go off to a wedding. I don't think we'll stay for the meal, but if we do stay for some of it, I may just have something.
Is all this OK for carb-up? No kidding? No cheating? LOVE IT!!!!

This can be great on B days, as I don't like carbs at breakfast- so I can double them up at lunch??? (M3 by me...)

You'll start to see your "recovery" time gets shorter and shorter and before you know it, your jog time is longer than your walk time. Know what works for you. I couldn't follow the C25K chart when I first started. I wasn't even able to start with the week 1 guidelines in the chart!
How encouraging- got to the gym late again, and the 3 ellipticals were taken, so I got on the treadmill (have one in my bedroom, but it's full of clothes , towels(I get the right side, DH the left...) and blankets ) Tried to start c25k, and couldn't run a full minute. Good to hear I'm not alone. Did 3 intervals of the best I could, and went off to my Pilates class.
May just do some weightlifting to get everything off the treadmill, and try it at home on the days I don't go to the gym!!

I've also dreamed about food- how embarrassing... but it's happened less over the past few months- it may be low blood sugar, deprivation, or whatever......

As you see form all my DSalmosts... we have a bunch of birthdays coming up here- I make them the cake of their choice... but the parties are on Saturday,
so carb-up here I come!!!
Love this WOE!!

Sorry for bragging so much today

Good to see how everyone's done so well- everyone's so happy here!!! Must be our WOE!!!!

You "think" ice cream? Hmmm... sounds like selective amnesia... That's what this WOE is all about! We can forgive (ourselves) and forget

You're doing great, Lani!!

I had the cinnimon raisen french toast today for breakfast, AMAZING!!! Totally worth getting up early to make it!

Week 1 Day 3

Good Morning all - Happy Wednesday!!!

I didn't get in all my food last night I was gone some and then wasn't that hungry when I got home. I had venison last night and 2 cheese sticks..lol I have my salad/ cottage cheese and snack packed for today.

Was in a bit of a rush this morning so for afternoon snack I just have cheese sticks (2) -1 g carb per stick. But am I suppose to have something with them.. can't remember

I was reading more of the book last night and writing some notes in a little notepad I keep in my purse.. quick reference..lol I think by writing I will remember and also not "over analyze" the program. When it is broke down it is not that hard, but to start with it's a little hard to get a grasp but soon it will be habit. I can't wait for a cheat day..lol

My regular weigh in days are Wednesday.. have been for about 10 years. Although I will admit have been known to weigh daily but the "official" day is wednesday. So I weighed on Monday with the start of the plan and am down 3 pounds from Monday - but from last Wednesday I am the same. I had a pretty high carb weekend.

TTFN

I'm confused what you mean about only on cheat and maintenance days. You can have pretty much anything on carb up days after your first 3 weeks. Take a look at my menus on the menu thread and you will see I thoroughly enjoy them.
Thanks Kelley, I had no idea you can be so liberal on the carb up days....I have saved all the menu thread and have been looking at it....when I said Cheat I was referring to the 6th day on the Maintenance sample menus, same with high carb. When I said maintenace days, I was referring to weeks 7 and 8...

Thanks again...you are a wealth of knowledge....and an inspiration!

Soooooooo do I have it right on the carb up days you are eating more carbs than protein to shake up your metabolism. Just how does that work? Is it that you dont let the body go into that starvation mode and it uses the handy carbs then the next day it searches for the fat not thinking it is starving.
Nina

The last two meals would be mainly starches

Everyone is there first few carb up days. You learn what your triggers are and know what to stay away from in the future. I have loved eating my french bread and being semi in control. This past weekend I went a little overboard though

OH MY!! See what happens when I wake up and get the kiddie sof fto school!

Three pages of dialog! Oh my...I have to catch up!!

EVERYBODY!!!!!

Juile, Lovely Julie, don't make me post my lecture on the dastardly scale again

Loose pants club!! That is what we are...I would rather have loose pants and SEE results in my physical form than watch the scale go down and not get any REAL results in the form of...well...in the form of my FORM!

Glad your hanging up your scale...better yet...take the battery out!!

p.s. My Americano's are 3 shots of espresso that is what I get for having three little ones around!

See, Alissa and Kelley, this old dog can learn some new tricks!
Everyone have a blessed day!
Julie

(The Atkins cappucino tastes great with 2 shots of espresso and half a vanilla shake. The extra shot reduces some of the sweetness - I don't like mine really sweet.)
Rhonda!!

HEY!! Y'all are only aboy 4.5 hours fro me!!! IN A PLANE!!! My sis lives in Clifton...I'm gonna visit Kelley when I go see her!!! And it WILL be a carb up day!! We'll have to plan a "Loose Pants Club...Cracker Style" Reunion!!

That was too funny, Pam!!! Kelley called it a Whole Foods plan...I call it carb-cycling of clean carb...it is NOT a low carb plan.

Smart carb plan! Yeah!! I like that!!!

Try the EZ sesame bread...nice nutty flavor...a good mix up

Regarding the cukes...CUCUMBER SOUP???

Uh yeah, that was gross. LOL! Just kidding, but you know, you're right. Someone here said they just tell people they are doing a 'whole foods' type diet so they don't get the flack for low carb (which I'm learning it's really not - it's more than that). It really is about healthy, natural foods. I know the Whole Foods store is starting to see me more regularly

I had EZ bread for the first time this morning. Just regular kind, don't really care too much about cinnamon and raisins - I just like bread. It was wonderful! Hubby was laughing at me how giddy I was at how much more I can eat that I wasn't even aware of - it's exciting to get such results and still have so many choices!

What in the world would I do without this board?! You guys ROCK!

Oh, and I managed to leave a few things un-chopped last night although my husband basically pureed my cucumbers in like 2 seconds. I guess I get cuke puree in my salads this week.

Pam

Pam
Back at you Renee!!

Main thing is this is the least restrictive program I've ever heard of or been on. If not this one, then what? AND, you have all of us here to help you thru!!! If you made a mistake, the beauty of this program is that you can fix it and move on! Stay with us, Nina!
Gemi!! ONLY 4.5#???? Have you lifted a 5# weight recently??? HUH???
Once again, focus on how you feel and STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE!!!!

I did it on Monday and yesterday I was busy most of the day cleaning. I mean like moving everything out of the closets, painting them, then installing new racks and putting everything back that I'm keeping. My husband will be painting all the rooms this winter and at least that part will be done. I guess I should have taken the time to take a walk and do some strength exercises.

I stopped writing down what I was eating on Sunday and going to the Football game that day messed me up too. I had a protein drink when I got there and later a piece of grilled chicken w/o the roll, condiments, etc. It will be easier the next game because I will plan and take something I CAN eat!

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed but know I need to move my body more this week and journal my food intake.

Hopefully, I don't have to start week 2 again!! Any thoughts on that??
Kelley!!

I find I do "better" (in how I physically feel) when I eat "clean" until lunch...then I open it up and don't stuff. I drink LOADS of water...it helps minimize the "carb" high and lows Which I don't feel on the day after anymore (unless I am dancing with those dastardly candy corns )
