I'm here!!!

I thought Milk was supposed to be reserved for after day 21...not sure where I got that...and I thought it was supposed to be like a SA. Personally, I would not choose milk over icecream!

Good morning, lovely people!

I weighed myself one last time this week, like I promised earlier, and found out I was down another pound. That's 11 total since Oct. 13 I WILL NOT weigh until next week. I will give up the need for instant gratification (and the sometimes accompanying frustration) of the scale. My validation will be loose pants. See, Alissa and Kelley, this old dog can learn some new tricks!

Everyone have a blessed day!
Julie

(The Atkins cappucino tastes great with 2 shots of espresso and half a vanilla shake. The extra shot reduces some of the sweetness - I don't like mine really sweet.)

Hey Kate. Did you try the pumpkin muffin? mine came out really good. Had to double the baking powder and the cooking time. Also added nutmeg with the cinnamon. Yummy! dede

Uh yeah, that was gross. LOL! Just kidding, but you know, you're right. Someone here said they just tell people they are doing a 'whole foods' type diet so they don't get the flack for low carb (which I'm learning it's really not - it's more than that). It really is about healthy, natural foods. I know the Whole Foods store is starting to see me more regularly

I had EZ bread for the first time this morning. Just regular kind, don't really care too much about cinnamon and raisins - I just like bread. It was wonderful! Hubby was laughing at me how giddy I was at how much more I can eat that I wasn't even aware of - it's exciting to get such results and still have so many choices!

What in the world would I do without this board?! You guys ROCK!

Oh, and I managed to leave a few things un-chopped last night although my husband basically pureed my cucumbers in like 2 seconds. I guess I get cuke puree in my salads this week.

Hi Nina,
I am sad to read that you are getting discouraged. If you slipped and that upset you - don't let that one misstep take you away from the good thing. You did week 1 - most restrictive of all!!! How did you do?

We can have fruit just not every day and not w/out measure. I used to have grapes just about every day by a pound!!! Not a good thing. I am not sure what's the deal with milk (I can't drink it anyway) but, as someone pointed out, there's a mention of ice-cream on carb-up days so I would think that on baseline you can have some milk.

Gerri, if you stop by - please clarify this one for us!!!

Main thing is this is the least restrictive program I've ever heard of or been on. If not this one, then what? AND, you have all of us here to help you thru!!! If you made a mistake, the beauty of this program is that you can fix it and move on! Stay with us, Nina!

Week 2 Day 3, blah

I did weigh myself and I expected to see more of a loss. Only 4.5lbs. But I do feel thinner. I will do my Couch to 5K again today. I did it on Monday and yesterday I was busy most of the day cleaning. I mean like moving everything out of the closets, painting them, then installing new racks and putting everything back that I'm keeping. My husband will be painting all the rooms this winter and at least that part will be done. I guess I should have taken the time to take a walk and do some strength exercises.

I stopped writing down what I was eating on Sunday and going to the Football game that day messed me up too. I had a protein drink when I got there and later a piece of grilled chicken w/o the roll, condiments, etc. It will be easier the next game because I will plan and take something I CAN eat!

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed but know I need to move my body more this week and journal my food intake.

Hopefully, I don't have to start week 2 again!! Any thoughts on that??

My every day schedule is similar to yours - I don;t get to eat my breakfast until 8ish, snack (protein drink) at 11-11:30; lunch around 2, snack (if I really stuff it down my throat - more often than not I don't have any) around 5 and then dinner around 6:30-7. Lastly I have a chocolatie protein shake around between 9 and 10.

So, last two MEALS (not snacks) should be mostly starches, right? It is a bit confusing at times....

Hey there - I've sort of expanded my Carb Up day. I eat clean until Lunch and then I usually eat what I want, when I want it. I just don't stuff. So far it hasn't effected me. Sort of like a mini cheat day. I do drink extra water that day and the day after though and eat very clean all my other days.

You are doing great - no need to do week 2 over. This is an 8 week plan remember? Be forewarned - you are not giong to see the big numbers you saw in your week 1 again. That was a serious detox for your body whch lead to the huge weight loss. Expect weekly 1-2 pound weight losses from here on out. (sometimes no weigt loss at all/sometimes weight gain) This program is about losing fat, not weight. Besides that, the longer it takes to lose the weight, the more likely it will be that you will be able to keep it off. Stay off the scale!!!! The scale is not your friend LOL!!!

Hey Kelley
Thank you for your reply. I was trying to imagine how I can possibly consume 6-inch sub and a pizza one after the other

I am mostly looking forward to some crusty fresh bread, tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. I am not a huge pasta or pizza eater. I do LOVE ice-cream but I know that's not to be until another weekend. So be it. I am glad I am allowed to have it at all. And, I do miss a glass of wine

Today was supposed to be a carb down day for you? Just carb down tomorrow (that gets you to switch your baseline and carb down days) and floow plan after tomorrow. TRY to get your starches in per the plan...an occassional couple of hour tweak is not going to kill you...just don't make it a practice. Hope that helps.

Ditto to what Alissa said. Don't stress. If you mess up you can always move days around. Just try and remember always have a CARB DOWN Day before CARB UP day. BTW, you didn't have a Carb Up day you just had an approved starch after 3 pm When you get to maintenance you can have your fruit every day!

Alissa - Is tomorrow too soon in the program to have a skim milk cappucino? (Week 3 Day 3 Carb Up day)

You can have your cappucino tomorrow. Just sweets and alcohol need to be saved for after week 3!

The fat thing is hard for me to keep track of too. Seems like everything that is lower in fat is higher in sugar?! Like sliced cheese. Which is the better option?

Hubby bought a food processor today! I'm so excited! I've always wanted one I have been cutting up everything I can find in the kitchen I had some yummy sliced and baked zucchini at dinner.
Hi there. My rule is to go for lowfat unless it has a bunch of ingredients that I can't pronounce. Like Mayo - I don't use a lot of it but when I do I typically go for the full fat stuff because I know what all the ingredients are. The lowfat stuff typically has things I can't pronounce.

Thanks, I had read about it in FAQ and the book, but hadn't seen the picture yet (I think the link wasn't working or there was some goofy icon in it's place) anyways, thanks for reposting the picture, I'm visual too and it does make more sense to see it. I was just having a hard time wrapping my head around the concept in words.

Approved or Clean Starches for Carb Down and Baseline. For Carb Up days you can have regular bread or even a croissant for breakfast!

all,

I started working out on Monday and dusted off my Callanetics tapes. I was heavily into them and also into BodyFlex (had amazing results with that) about 10 years ago. Then, as with any good thing, dropped it for no good reason.

My favorite is AM/PM work out. Do you, girls, have that one? It's only 20 min in the morning and then 20 Min in the evening. I like it because it's a mix of various exercises so your whole body gets a work out in 20 min. Did it now for two days and can barely walk today Everything looks so "easy" but it's not

Thank you, ladies, for reminding me about this great workout!!!

When I arrived I asked them if they could make me something else, so I had turkey with a couple of tomato slices over it, (they put bacon on it) and steamed broccoli. I also had a very nice, large salad which I squeezed lemon juice over. Dessert was sitting right in front of my plate (pumpkin cheesecake) which I love, but I did not eat it. I did very well staying on plan, because my very favorite, yeast rolls, were being passed all around. That was the hardest!!
WTG JACKIE! WOOHOO! You did awesome girl

So far so good--I've followed the plan 100% and am actually doing the plan with a friend of mine who lives 2 hours away! We email each other every day and both decided to start on Monday after I found this board, the diet, and we both got the book! I will admit that book does jump around a bit and doesn't fully explain some stuff--like the days where you have 2 carb-filled meals as your last 2 meals, etc..just doesn't completely explain some important stuff to me but I do love most of the book, I just wish certain things were explained more, which is why this message board is perfect! I know next week I start my Macro-Patterning, I had a question which I am sure has been asked already--so I apologize! One the first Saturday on Week 2 where I am allowed starches for my last 2 meals--that means I can have any kind of starch--correct? It's just not recommended to have Sweets and Alcohol until Week 4--which are ONLY the foods with the * beside them, correct? So I can have the pizza on that list or something similar--cake, candy, etc just aren't recommended yet, correct? Also--when can I enjoy fruit? Just in my Maintenance Weeks or before hand? That part was confusing! My last question involves the Maintenance Weeks. I have 100 lbs to lose so I obviously want to continue to follow the weight loss part of this plan until I have that off and then switch to Maintenance and Lifetime. So do I follow the first 6 weeks and then go right back to Week 2 OR do I follow through with all Week 7 then do 4 Carb-down Days before starting Week 2 all over again? I thought her book talked about the importance of doing Week 7 and then simply doing 4 Carb-down Days in a row before starting Week 2 all over but I'm not sure? Please let me know--I really want to be the most successful I can be!!!!

I look forward to posting on here and reading all of the inspiration!!!
Hi there - Sounds like you got it for Carb Up days you can have any starch you want! Yeah! Wendy does recommend waiting on sweets and alcohol and we've had mixed results with this one. I waited until after week 3 but there are others that didn't and still had good results

AS for MAINTENANCE - If you follow Wendy's plan you MUST do those maintenance weeks - It is an important part of shaking your body up. Doesn't matter if you 10 or 100 lbs to lose - DO MAINTENANCE! Once you finish week 8 do four carb down days and then pick up week 2 on the 5th day. Continue on from there.

Good Luck and we are all here for you!
