Yeh, ladies, you wish you were alone
I am here lurking in the cyber bushes![]() OK, a question now that I got you "Cracker Elders" all to myself (well, almost). On carb up days - two last meals - does it mean lunch and dinner? I can't imagine having a sub as a snack prior to dinner?! Tell me how you, girls, do it. Please...pretty, please ![]() |

Confused... again
On Saturday is my first carb up so I am burning the midnight oil planning
![]() Just opened Wendy's menus and I see that on Carb-Up day she has a bagel for breakfast and then, of course, starches for 2 last meals of the day. Well, how come there's a bagel for breakfast? I thought I had it but now I am confused ![]() ![]() Please enlighten me, dear Cracker Elders ![]() |

I usually have a late lunch (later like 2:00ish) and a later dinner (after 6:00pm generally). I eat a healthy breakfast...though you can have other carbs, I prefer the EZ bread and only do one slice with my eggs or I do oatmeal with strawberry atkins poured on it...love how that tastes! Then I'll have a Shake around 10-11ish followed by my first starchy meal and then second starchy meal. If I get hungry...and I usually don't...I'll snack a bit on veggies and laughing cow light cheese. BUT last week...darn candy corn ...anyhoo...live and learn!Hope that helps!

Well, now I have to re-work all my feast plans to make them even "badder"![]() ![]() ![]() My every day schedule is similar to yours - I don;t get to eat my breakfast until 8ish, snack (protein drink) at 11-11:30; lunch around 2, snack (if I really stuff it down my throat - more often than not I don't have any) around 5 and then dinner around 6:30-7. Lastly I have a chocolatie protein shake around between 9 and 10. So, last two MEALS (not snacks) should be mostly starches, right? It is a bit confusing at times.... |

Alissa – I just talked to Meggie (she lives about 40 minutes from us) and she has finished some more math and is looking into a college program. She said she needs to upgrade her grade 12 English before she can apply. I offered to let her move home for free (I wouldn’t charge my kids anyway) and told her she wouldn’t have to work full time so that she could concentrate on her English mark. I hope she considers it.
Dede – It was me (the pumpkin in the minute muffin). I love pumpkin, let me know how it turns out! By the time I got this all read, you had tried the pumpkin muffin. I am going to make one for a snack as soon as I finish reading (which could be midnight!) Onexone – you just need to get in control again. When you are in control, you will have more determination. Planning ahead puts you in better control. My suggestion and what helps me is to plan at least 3 day ahead so you know what you are going to eat. I enter everything on fitday.com(free version) and it has been such a helpful tool for me. YOU CAN DO IT! Pam – spaghetti squash is not a winter squash. It is like zucchini so you can have a cup of it with a meal. I love it but it is hard to get where I live because of the short growing season. Good job on your weight loss. Renee – I hope pumpkin is not a starch cause I want to eat it soooo bad and haven’t because I thought it would be a starch. I know spaghetti squash is not a starch. Vicki Lynn – everyone has been drinking the atkins shakes so I think that they are ok. I didn’t know they had soy in them but maybe it isn’t enough to make a difference. Kim – at least you are trying and know you can come back and start again whenever you want. That is the great thing about this WOE. And, your support system is still in place, us! Gemini – the bag of milled flax seed I have says that between 2 tbsp and 4 tbsp is a daily serving. I love the milled flax seed because it has a nutty flavor and I can no longer have nuts due to a severe allergy. It is a good substitute for me. Always dancing – good for you for sticking to your promise to yourself. That is half the battle, sticking to the plan. Molly – I felt so thin the other day that I weighed my self and my weight was up 2 lbs, can you believe it. So, I am waiting a few more days and trying just once a week but it is hard. Kellycarbaddict – I am not sure how it works either, but it does. My sister is not on this WOE and we have been going to curves. I have been going more often than her. So, we weigh in and do measurements and body fat percentage. She lost more weight, a bit more inches BUT she only lost ½ % body fat and I lost 2%. Go figure. Of course, I am very happy for her but you can see the difference between losing weight and losing inches/body fat. Julie – good luck with your surgery. Now you won’t have all day to worry about what you are not eating. Kelley – I love green beans so I am going to try that recipe, sounds good!

Why cant we have fruit, milk or yogurt I am unsure I am finding this hard to follow. I have read the book but it confuses me it jumps all over. I was horrible today I ate potatoes at supper soooooooooooooo not before three and I had carbs at lunch Eziekel bread. Soooooooooooooooo two carbs today like a Carb up day four days early. Do I just keep going and follow baseline tomorrow or should I do a carb down day. I am cranky and want to eat cookies today. Gettin discouraged Nina |

![]() You can have milk...on carb up days same with yogurt and fruit (after day 21). These are NOT good protein sources and they have significant sugars which you are trying to rid your body of in the early weeks. Today was supposed to be a carb down day for you? Just carb down tomorrow (that gets you to switch your baseline and carb down days) and floow plan after tomorrow. TRY to get your starches in per the plan...an occassional couple of hour tweak is not going to kill you...just don't make it a practice. Hope that helps. |

I copied the C25K program chart and downloaded the podcasts to my ipod. Can't start it until my knee heals, but I can study it and be ready to start when i get the go ahead. I used to love to run half my life ago. It kept me lean. Hope I can do it again.

Crud...well I only used a tablespoon of it in the whole recipe so hopefully I didn't hose myself yesterday evening. The fat thing is hard for me to keep track of too. Seems like everything that is lower in fat is higher in sugar?! Like sliced cheese. Which is the better option? Hubby bought a food processor today! I'm so excited! I've always wanted one I have been cutting up everything I can find in the kitchen I had some yummy sliced and baked zucchini at dinner. |

Julie,
You should wait until after day 21...in my opinion. I base that on the guideline for sweets/alcohol after day 21. HTH! Alissa p.s. I love my Americano with vanilla Atkins...YUUUMMMM I add the Nutmeg...OHHHhhhhhhh Bliss!! |

Hi PAM!!
![]() Don't sweat one TBS. Just use the guidelins from now on! What kind of cheese are you looking at? It is always better to fet lower fat and low/no sugar...they are out there. Laughing Cow Light wedges are a nice creamy treat... Regarding Sliced Cheese...I don't think anyone should be eating "fake" cheese anyway...enjoy the real McCoy in controlled amounts. Real food is always more satisfying anyway! I LOVE my Cuisinart...and my KitchenAid...don't know what I'd do without them!! See, you don' need sliced cheese...you can slice your own! I do use low fat cheese sticks...in stead of the full fat varieties but mine is a texture thing. ![]() HTH!! Quote:

Started My 1st Wk on Monday!
I introduced myself the other week and just wanted to say I started my first week this past Monday!
So far so good--I've followed the plan 100% and am actually doing the plan with a friend of mine who lives 2 hours away! We email each other every day and both decided to start on Monday after I found this board, the diet, and we both got the book! I will admit that book does jump around a bit and doesn't fully explain some stuff--like the days where you have 2 carb-filled meals as your last 2 meals, etc..just doesn't completely explain some important stuff to me but I do love most of the book, I just wish certain things were explained more, which is why this message board is perfect! I know next week I start my Macro-Patterning, I had a question which I am sure has been asked already--so I apologize! One the first Saturday on Week 2 where I am allowed starches for my last 2 meals--that means I can have any kind of starch--correct? It's just not recommended to have Sweets and Alcohol until Week 4--which are ONLY the foods with the * beside them, correct? So I can have the pizza on that list or something similar--cake, candy, etc just aren't recommended yet, correct? Also--when can I enjoy fruit? Just in my Maintenance Weeks or before hand? That part was confusing! My last question involves the Maintenance Weeks. I have 100 lbs to lose so I obviously want to continue to follow the weight loss part of this plan until I have that off and then switch to Maintenance and Lifetime. So do I follow the first 6 weeks and then go right back to Week 2 OR do I follow through with all Week 7 then do 4 Carb-down Days before starting Week 2 all over again? I thought her book talked about the importance of doing Week 7 and then simply doing 4 Carb-down Days in a row before starting Week 2 all over but I'm not sure? Please let me know--I really want to be the most successful I can be!!!!I look forward to posting on here and reading all of the inspiration!!! |

I remember your posting!!Fruit...after day 21 where shown on substitution list (carb up days) and in maintenance baseline days where shown on meal plan. The program is 8 weeks, not 7...after week 8, do 4 carb downs then pick week 2 up...it will be a carb down so in actuality you are doing 5 carb down days in a row then a baseline before a carb up and baseline before moving on to week 3 (10 in restart). YOU MUST DO THE WEEK 7 and 8 Maintenance...MUST...it is important to give our bodies a break and then reintroduce the macro patterning. Please read over the FAQ thread...the first post list many of the answers to these questions ![]() I hope this helps!! ![]() Please, no need to apologize...it is fun to be helpful ![]() ) Quote:

Glad to help...I was never an Atkins person, so I am guessing I did not need the same retraining...I was a WWer for a time long ago. Try to enjoy the foods flavor then add as needed...you will find the taste of things exceptional after a time and will not need the dressings, fat or cheesy toppings. These things are all OK in moderation...but an abundance of fat is NEVER a good idea...why would you want to eat the very thing you are trying to lose?? Maybe that image will help ![]() |

From what I have understood per the book (page 102) is that on the SA list, only those items marked with an asterisk are not allowed until after week 3. Fruit (A) (milk also) is allowed in weeks 2-4 only on carb up days (chapter 10-macro-patterning carb up days-meal 4). ![]() Last edited by Tyler'sGM; 10-28-2008 at 10:08 PM.. |

I stand corrected on fruit (I have to admit that I am not a fruit person anymore...no sweet craving for them in the least) and I gave up milk (which my bowels are very happy as a result)...so milk does not apply to me as such I placed it into that "SA" category. Thanks for clearing that up! Milk...can be in week 2?? Interesting, I though not. Hmmm...interesting! ![]() ![]() |

That is so funny Alissa, our Megan gets every name but Megan. My favorite one is magpie. It is a bird we have around here that is noisy, sort of like a blue jay and they just never shut up. So, magpie, meggers, meggie, meme, meemers, and her name given to her by her daddy when she was little, pork chop. hmmmm I am sure there are more i just can't think of them right now. |

Actually, page 102 lists ice cream as an SA, but does not specifically say "milk". Interesting..... Bueller, any comment?
