BTW my daughter did not start. She wants to eat candy for Halloween.

Oh well. I keep hoping. I am very concerned about her weight. Now that my granddaughter is 1 and is starting to walk all over the place I dont' know how she will keep up. Plus all the extra weight is a big strain on her heart, knees and back. Not to mention she has like double F chest.

Sara
Poor Thing. I hope she decides to start the following week and at least that way she will lose a few pounds before the eat-a-thon coming up

Next week, since the pattern is the same, I can just use them again and tweak them if I want a different meal. I think my next step is to make meal plans on smaller cards for each type of meal, like a series of P/O cards, P/V/O cards, P/S cards, etc. Then I can just choose the meals I want and like (based on what I have on hand in my cupboards and freezer) and plug them into the pattern for the day.

I like doing stuff like that, even though it sounds like lots of work. It makes me feel more in control of my eating, and makes it easier in the long run! It's easy for me to do, too, because I'm single and my kids are grown and out of the house (just my beloved sheltie to take care of). I can only knit and crochet so much!!!!!

Have a great D day!
Julie
Great Idea and I hope you are enjoying your carb up day!

Way to go! Don't tell Allissa and Kelley but I bought a new scale last night - digital. It calculates everything - body fat, muscle mass, water, etc. (probably sends the info directly to the government files (along with eye color) ). Trouble is - I can't get it to work I think Allissa and Kelley rigged the scale industry

Hey, buddy, check in later - I enjoy your posts[/QUOTE]

I needed a good laugh about the scale! Thank you. Mine is digital and shows water and body fat, but I think the body fat is wrong. On the online calculators I've used, the body fat rating is lower than on my scale. I've tried 4 different online calculators. I think you may be onto something with you scale-rigging theory!

Jackie you are over analyzing it - you can have them whenever as long as they are before 3PM so say you are doing brunch you can have

hash browns and grits at one meal. You decide!

Yea Alissa!!! Guess what? I did a solid 20 minute run today - over a mile stragiht!!!! Do you know how excited I am??? I almost quit too until a really good song came on and I was able to finish out the 20 minutes. I think that was the final challenge of week 5 (I need to double check) so now it's off to week 6 woo hoo!!!

Just put some heavy cream in a mixing bowl (depending on how much you want to make, just play around with it.) If you're making enough for 1 person, probably 2 Tablespoons heavy cream, a splash of vanilla and a packet of splenda. A whole packet might make it too sweet. I'll play around with it tomorrow and let you know. I am going to have some gelatin and whipped creme tomorrow night. The whipped creme really doesn't keep well, probably not longer than a couple of days at a time, but it's easy to whip up and fresh!

take some cold heavy whipping cream and beat it until it gets fluffy. It has no flavor so the "real" stuff has sugar in it, but I'm sure you could use Splenda instead. Just be mindful of the serving size because it would count as a fat.

Okay, Kelley, you were a scale addict , I'm a fact addict, and yes, I may drive you crazy getting my facts straight, but I want to do this correctly and I have read the book, it just seems that sometimes things seem a little different when stated in here and in the book so I just want to make sure I'm understanding it. Whew a long sentence and finally I came up to breathe. But you are right, I am an analyzer!

I just want to do this right and I will get it. I am feeling so good after week 1 and 2 days in to week 2. I just can't explain how much hope I feel and not desperation any longer. 10.5 pounds the first week is huge...seeing the me I see in the shower today makes me smile and not shudder.

I know it's not all about the weight, but when you have diabetes and high blood pressure, it is all about the weight and getting it off and getting moving.

10 Years Younger in 10 Hours is the original and the best to start with.
Most people like to add Evolution Callanetics
and then the hard core go for Super Callanetics (I've only done this one once so far)

I say that, as I feel good, and my clothes are getting looser. My weekly weigh in yesterday did not show any more loss than the initial 5lb, but it doesn't matter, I know that it will come off. I was thrilled yesterday when I saw that one serving of EZ bread is TWO slices!! woo woo! I cheated myself of a slice yesterday, but no more! I had a slice for breakfast and one for lunch today...on my one starch before 3pm day. It will take me a bit to get used to what day means what, so I will walk around with the book, and all of your posts. I'm looking forward to trying the one minute muffin and fitting in some pumpkin stuff somewhere, somehow... It' a bit hard to be creative when I am on the road a lot. I'm thinking that Subway is about to become a good friend of mine, getting a salad instead of a sub..and doing my own dressing thing.

Some wonderful things that I have found this week include:
At Costco: Turkey burgers, frozen. not breaded patties, just turkey meat made into a burger, 'fry' it with some EVOO spray, add a little garlic, salt and pepper, num.
At Costco: Artichoke Tapenada - OMG..I could eat this stuff with a spoon! It is made with artichoke's, olive oil and spices. I have not decided where it will best fit in as yet, but if you count the fat as your fat...it is 1 gm carb, and very, very tasty. Stay tuned on how I might use this...
At Trader Joes - Egg white salad! An egg salad, made with just whites. I threw the pkg away, but it was wonderful with celery, and ingredients were such that it was fine for me to eat. 1/2 of the container was 1 carb.

I'm headed to Costco to get the Atkins shakes..that will work lots better for me than shaking up powder in a water bottle for the road.

Keep posting...it keeps me reading
Mitzy
Hey Mitzy - see my post with the visual of why the scale doesn't reveal your true fat loss! You forgot the wonderful Rotisserrie (sp) Chicken - YUMMY! I bought 2 this weekend and just finished the last little bit today at lunch.

Jackie - I've done the white beans as my starch on baseline/carb down before with no adverse reaction. On teacher work days we often go to Ruby Tuesdays and I usually get salad bar and the white bean chili - it is so rich and decadent I feel sinful.

great, 'cause I love white bean chili with chicken and salsa verde. YUM OR with tomatillos. So on baseline/carb up days, I could have chili with WW spaghetti and crackers couldn't I? That would be my 2 starches for the day. OMG I love chili with spaghetti and crackers. Do you know how long it's been since I've eaten that? Or with a PB sandwich instead of crackers, just count the starch and fat.

Kelley!!

Hip Hop abs...that sounds like so much fun...I know I said that before so I should just buy the darn things! I bet the kiddies like it too!! My kids do a Yoga DVD with me...it is a very fun family activity.

No child left behind...good in "theory" and good in "message" but I agree the bureaucracy (that is the strangest looking word...even though I know it is spelled right ...goes along with the complexity and silliness of the definition of the word )and administration of it muck the principle up indeed.

I'm so proud of you and you will do it. We are here for you and we will answer your questions with a little good natured fun. I hope I don't offend

And to think I almost passed on my run because my back was a bit stiff Goes to show you, a little push can get us in the saddle...once there...no stopping us!

Thanks for the virtual "reminder" CONNIE!!!

WONDERFUL!!! I'm so happy for you!

Or with a PB sandwich instead of crackers, just count the starch and fat.
Well technically no pasta or crackers unless they are EZ
I'm with you I love my white bean chili with tomatillos on spaghetti You can definitely do the EZ bread. All this talk of PB sandwiches I think that will be my lunch tomorrow!
