Vladis Thanks for asking about the cocoa. I keep seeing 'hot cocoa' but I have vanilla whatever Robb shake mix so would love to add some cocoa to it too but thought the carbs were too high. I'll check for the special cocoa you got too when I get some flax stuff today.
Pam,
It's Green & Black's brand. USDA certified. Organic Cocoa Powder. $4.99 for 4.4 oz Made in Italy

I hope your store has it. I can't wait to have it tonight before I go nite-nite

Kelley-Thanks so much for answering my dilemma. When you said just do 4 carb down days I literally ran to my kitchen to make lunch with my EZ bread!!!
Oh the little things in life.

I listened to Alissa and did some planning/cooking this am for the week. I made hb eggs, chicken and broccolli soup. I also stocked up on the shakes. Of course my husband who is working fro home today ate 1/2 of everthing. Watch him drop weight!!!

Wow it is actually snowing a little here in PA-yuck!!!! My husband was at the World Series last night here in Phila. and the game was called due to weather. Tonight looks like a wash out as well. We have had the most beautiful October until now -it is tough to be a sports fan in Phila. We are so close..... GO PHILLLIES!!!!

I want to share some ideas with my fellow crackers

1. Broccoli - not a big fan. Actually, had no strong feelings one way or the other just a short week ago. Things do change fast Can't stand it now. Looking for ways to improve - last night I sautéed it (in that one serving of allowable olive oil) with some shiitake mushrooms and put it over my fresh greens, cucs, radishes and tomato salad - it was de-li-ci-ous

2. EZ tortilla wrap. I checked the nutritional info first - one tortilla equals two slices of EZ sesame bread. I warmed up 1 tortilla, scrambled two eggs and put them on tortilla and added some ready-made salsa (no bad carbs, fat -checked that). Sprinkled some cheese and rolled it into a wrap. Yuuuummmyy

3. This one I haven;t tried yet but wondering if any of you ladies did. I saw EZ spaghetti and other types of pasta in the store. Wow! I wonder if that's any good.

That's it.

P.S. If anybody does any other tricks with broccoli, please let me know

Broccoli - LOVE IT -

I steam it - barely still like a little crunch and add parmesean

Steam it a little more than above then put in a bowl, take two knives and criss cross through a few times and them put juice of one lemon over it and salt and pepper - you can serve cold

Stir Fry in 1/2 tbsp on conola oil and add whatever other veggies you like - my favorite onion, mushrooms, garlic. Saute chicken, beef, or shrimp in another 1/2 tbsp of conola oil. When cooked add veggies back in and season with soy sauce or stir fry sauce, ginger whatever you like

Steamed crisp with just lemon juice,

Sauteed in EVOO w/crushed red pepper and garlic

For the EZ Tortilla - I make Chicken Soft Tacos all the time for lunch - MEXICAN IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE FOOD

Oh my, I've never seen EZ Spaghetti - is it with the bread. I think I may be in heaven if that is true!

Thanks, Kelley. Will definitely try all of the above
I saw EZ pasta in Natural Foods area of Wegmans (do you have a Wegmans where you live?). It was not in the frozen foods section - it was in pasta section. I hope you have it. I can't wait to try it myself (when I am allowed to)

This is my first time back in a week. I just wanted to let you guys know that I am in my 2nd day of my third week and I have lost 15 lbs!!! I don't crave sugar any more and have lots of energy now. If I don't have protein every 3 to 4 hours I get really tired and sometimes even a headache. I started carrying something with me when I'm going to be away from home for a long period of time, like when I went shopping this past Saturday. Has anyone tried the Atkins shakes? Wendy says in her book to stay away from the protein bars, but I can't remember what she said about shakes. I bought the whey powder from Wal-Mart and it's not very good. I have to choke it down! There are also times when I'm not at home and need something already made like a shake which would be really convenient. Let me know! Thanks.

Yes, I have a Wegmans here finally! My mom was from Rochester NY and her dad actually delivered groceries from the original little Wegmans store! She wrote for years asking them to come down to the DC area and they finally did about 4 years ago. LOVE Wegmans! I will look, never thought to look in the pasta section

Oh my, you have been gone a long time because we all are big FANS of the Atkins shakes. They are perfectly fine, they meet all of Wendy's requirments. I keep ready made shakes at work, home, and in my car just in case.

My apologies to anyone who is an exception to this which I have learned to be painfully true. in any event, ALL of my recommendations and concerns were addressed...and beyond actually. I worked hard all summer for Megan to be independantly evaluated and assessed, brought all the paperwork to school the first week so that the "new team" (she moved to a full k-6 school from the pre-k special ed) would HAVE to respond. As a parent, you can request an IEP eval and the team HAS to respond within 30 school days (I may be off with the timing...but it is close). Anyway...I am very pleased and intend to let the "team" know how pleased I am and how much I am looking ofrward to continuing to assist in furthering Megs education. My goal is for her to be in Main-stream education (completely) by 3rd grade. Anyway, we are on our way...I am impressed and enjoying this team.

My Megan is similarly Tenacious It is a key component to her continued rehabilitation...she has some determination and pushed herself. I look forward to the post from you announcing your Megan's success!

I've been mopey because I can't seem to do this right lately! I am so worried I will regain my hard won 10lbs down!!! I don't think I will weigh myself until after my birthday next week. A week from tomorrow I will weigh in. Anyway, according to the calendar I should be getting my "monthly visitor" anyday now but I am so off, being 44 you know, that I never have a clue. When i feel all puffy, like now, it could be my 2 week warning! (Of course it could also be the sodium in all the food I've been eating...) I just take it a day at a time BUT I have been eating so much. Too much. And stress eating at that. Hoo boy.
If I stick to the plan the weight doesn't stick to me so I have to put an OP day under my belt today. Had an eating fest weekend and it spilled over into having too much food at every meal yesterday. I'm not craving I am just stuffing feelings down. Using food to avoid my work. Using food to hide out. Been eating to way past stuffed for three days. I have decided that whenever I get home this evening I will do the 1 mile WATP dvd I have. I need to do something to feel I am helping myself and not hurting myself! I just need a few words of encouragement today. I so don't want to lose the ground I've gained. I can't stop before I get below 250 can I? I have not been able to do that in over a year of trying! What's up with that? I have to let that 250 GO!
ugh.
SO frustrated.

this morn i made the muffin. i added 1 egg white. it was pretty yummy but would taste alot better if it had some nuts and maybe some dried fruit in it.
i think i did a no no yesterday. i have some adkins shakes (only one i could find at the store i was at) i looked at them this morn and saw that they have soy protein in them (not good) i am going to the health food store to try and find the right kind today.my question is: can i finish up the ones i have? if i find the powder then i could rotate until the adkins ones are gone. will that be aproblem? so far i am loving this/real food/and stuff i like. it doesn't even feel like you are dieting. i know i know this is not a diet BUT A WAY OF LIFE you all have a great day and many congrats to the ones who are losing
So glad you made it thru Day 1. Week one is tough, you CAN do it. My DH isn't skinny, but slender. He can go on a "diet" which to him means only eating 2 poptarts with milk before bed instead of 4 poptarts. He loses, I gain. It's sick I tell you. We are in this together.

I did follow a low carb of my own but had some fruit with my veggies and protein. Then on Sun. I added in some junk and it continued yesterday. So for the experts out there here is what I was thinking- 2 carb deplete days/2carb down/carb up/baseline-then week three starts Monday.

I also considered 4 carb deplete but not sure what to do on Sat./Sun. I thought a carb deplete may be too much but I will take the advice of the very wise ladies here.

I also looked at the menu thread and realized when I was on plan I was not eating enough. I my diet history is restrict/binge and I still count darn calories and points in my head. I need to trust this program as Wendy has done all the research for me. I really need to get out of mu own way.

I have been reading all the posts and you guys are amazing. I really want this to work and it has for so many on these boards. I saw the Oprah thing and was like OMG-love Oprah!!!

Week 1's only 5 more days to go and you get to see what all your hard work was for.

My birthday went without a hitch. We went to an Italian restaurant. The garlic bread they put on the table was the only thing that had my attention. Don't know why, I love spaghetti and pizza but the bread called my name. I simply said I'm on a diet and can't drink liquor yet and ordered chicken with spinach and salad. Ice tea. I was a good girl.

I just told myself I promised to do the whole 8 weeks by the letter and I am. The results keep you on it. I've been very good with staying on the WOE. I thought all the going out to eat and stuff everyone brings to share with class would be hard. Then not being hungry just makes saying no easy. Someone passed me a mohito from the end of the table because it was toast me time.

I just held the glass and sat it down then gave it to my friend next to me. You can be part of the group and still stay on track without raising too much of a fuss.

Hang in there everyone, although I think we are all getting pretty good at this. We might have to drag in some people to help pretty soon.
WTG Dancing Lynda - sounds like you did good.

Pam,
It's Green & Black's brand. USDA certified. Organic Cocoa Powder. $4.99 for 4.4 oz Made in Italy

I hope your store has it. I can't wait to have it tonight before I go nite-nite
For Hot Cocoa:

What I do:
I take 1 tbsp cocoa, a sprinkle of spoonable stevia (1/8 tsp?), 1/2 c water and 2 Tbsp coconut oil (I know there's some debate... feel free to use flax oil) and heat them to boiling on the stove.

THEN

I put one scoop of protein powder and 3/4 c of hot tap water into my blender and start blending away. I slowly add the cooked cocoa mix. Voila! Creamy satisfying hot cocoa that keeps me full for the rest of the night.

The cooking takes the 'raw' taste out of the cocoa, and the blending step keeps the proteins in the powder from clumping or getting 'weird'.

Week 2 Day 2 - C day

Vladis, How are you doing today? Tomorrow is our first B day, anything thoughts on what you will be having? I think i'm more excited about the cinnamon raisin toast for breakfast and the fudgesicle for dessert. It's the little things that give us hope. :P

I had 2 slices EZ toast with 2 soft boiled eggs again this morning. It amazes me that I can eat it and feel full afterwards. The sandwich looks sooo tiny, but within 20 minutes of eating it, I'm full and full for a few hours afterwards. Crazy.

Very excited to see PB is a fat and 1TB anytime. WOOHOO! That is exciting, I love PB.

We are having openhouse at school tonight, so I'm not sure what's up for dinner.

If you notice, there are many unanswered questions in the book. That is why we have debated about so many things on this thread, and often still ask each other "Any other ideas out there?"

Peanut butter, yogurt, etc., etc. PB is a decision you will make in this WOE. When you feel comfortable, try it. Some of our runners have some before running. Tam likes to have it with one of her shakes. You are into week 4, so give it a try this week. Did it cause more cravings, or wanting too much of it? Have PBJ and see what happens.

And if we can never have certain things again, why do we want to stay with this plan? There are lots of others that can deny us things we like!

Connie
Thanks Connie....I think that's the entire thing of this way of eating, we follow Wendy's guidelines and then maybe add something in like Peanut butter and see how it affects us. If we still lose, then it's ok to have it occasionally. I'm sure I would lose faster if I didn't add it in. I do have some of that powdered peanut butter (PB2 or something like that) which I think is a lot less fat...so may try a sprinkle of that on my oatmeal or something. I'm thinking seriously of getting the DVD to see if there's more insight on it...and I did see Wendy is working on another book so maybe that will have more in it. I think she said it has recipes and more about exercise in it...

I'm doing well actually, and oddly enough I think eating carbs when they are shown in the meal plan is working on my mind and making it come back to normal from the obsessions I had before. Isn't that odd? I was going to weigh in in the morning but I'm feeling really bloated right now....will have to see how I feel in the morning...

Cocoa is actually GOOD for you!!! Go for it, girls! Try natural or organic, and not dutch or processed, as they kill all the good stuff!!

As for the squash- that is soooo exciting- I stab a crookneck squash (though ours doesn't have crooks in the neck- its' straight- afew times and pop it in the microwave til soft- slice it- and we eat it with the peel- or you can use it in soups, etc.... great winter comfort food, and so filling.

Gotta do some new food ideas- I am all cooked out from the holidays- as soon as the guys leave and things quiet down I'll try some soups, new veggies and stuff.

Aquarium is done, groceries never arrived- oy- my daughter made an order with me and her's came.(we just happened to meet there, and I got to see my GS11mts- wearing my DSalmost16's shirt- one of my favorites (he wore it at 2, but this one is a BUSTER!!)).. but she lives in a different neighborhood... If I call they just say "24 hours max, ma'm"- and I will have to wait it out til tomorrow anyways... Nothing perishable there, so it' s just an inconvenience...
Off I go to make another hot cocoa shake, and off to my mom. She's not happy I haven't been eating at her house- she used to make me dinner, but it's better this way- we just sit and schmooze....

KUTGW
By the time I get back you will have another 3 pages for me to catch up on!!

Ok, you can go to wendy's Foreverfit site to order dvd, I ordered the bundle. It has a planner to write everything down and the days are listed with type. a cook book, and a mini crack the code. I haven't watched the dvd as I gave it to the twins to view but they said they were lost as they needed the book to understand the lingo.

I hate broccoli and never once ate it. I also eat pb on ez bread twice last week and once yesterday. I shall let you know how it effects me. Lynda64 congratulations! I think you might be the best loser in our group so far. Yeah!!!!!!I'm gonna be it for week 3, watch out, unless the pb gets me.

Kelly!
I am doing fine. Yes, I am looking forward to our first baseline day. I am planning on that delish cinn-raisin bread for breakfast (with eggs, of course and I have to meet someone for lunch so I am dreaming of some potatoes. Funny what we crave, isn't it?

No fudgesicle for me - if it's on a stick it has to be a real ice-cream

I noticed that I get full very quickly now. It's 2 pm here and I had my breakfast and a protein shake and I am not hungry at all. I guess at 3 I have to eat something

Good luck, Kelly. Let me know how you like your c-r bread tomorrow.

Hello everyone,

A question for all the wonderful experts on this board: Week 2, Baseline day in the book has for lunch Wendy's Burgers on Unbuns:P/S/V---if you read though the recipe there is no starch I can see. Is it a mistake in the book and if yes what kind of starch do you recommend?

Thanks for all the prompt replies to my questions and for the encouragement.

I hope your store has it. I can't wait to have it tonight before I go nite-nite
Found some, although the Green & Black's was completely out! Got another kind but it says it has .6 carbs and 1 fiber. So negative carb count? Cool!

Also not a big fan. I'm still working on ways to make it good but so far it's been stir fries or cooked with EVOO and Parmesan also. I've mixed it with a little mayo, lemon juice, splenda, chopped onion and greek yogurt for a broccoli salad last night.

I'm a bit confused. I thought in week 2 we aren't supposed to have EZ Bread until baseline or carb up days? My baseline is tomorrow (day 3) so I get 2 pieces then another serving of something at lunch right? What about the tortillas and all that stuff. They are also to be counted?

Lastly, I'm sorry to keep bringing up those muffins, but I went back to the store and got flax meal today also. So are those or are they not one of our carb meals? It says 4 carbs but 4 fibers so cancels out but still....? Spaghetti squash I'm going to use as a veggie since it seems very low and like you guys said, it's not on the bad veggie list.

Sorry...I just get confused as to what is a 'countable' carb and what's not?

Pam

alright a week off it can't get any better than this. we live on a farm so our dogs have free range. i am gonna have to get back into the mode of walking again. the weather is cold but that doesn't bother me. just the snow and ice and that isn't here yet. went and got my protein powder at a health food store it is whey based and 24 protein/1 sugar and 3 carbs. hope it tastes as good as the stats i got vanilla so i can add flavoring. i was also wondering-can you chew sugar free gum on this?

I went online last week to check if the Wegmans near me had EZ bread and I was thrilled. Went Sunday and I couldn't believe all the great things they had in the natural food department. I also bought the Tortillas and burger buns. I can't wait to have a lean meat burger. I'm going back to get the pasta too!!

Thrilled about the PB too. I will look for cocoa next time I go. Fudgesicle, yum!
