Salad dressing.
Quote:
For week 2 I have just been doing EVOO and ACV. Today at lunch I though I would add some fresh garlic...well I used 1 big clove and OMG I can still taste it. I went way overboard. I wonder how long I am going to smell like garlic. I am going to try the dijon next time. I think I've read that some of you like Trader Joe's dressing. I looked in the store but could find them. I really haven't found a lite or low fat dressing that I really care for...SO if anyone know of a good brand/flavor please post.

Kelley, Thank you for your reply and I have another dumb question - did you halve your muffin or flaxseed amount? I just checked my flaxseed packet and there's 4 gr of carbs in 2 Tbsp here!!! |

Week 1-er too.
Hi guys
I'm also new here...week 1, day 2. It's actually been pretty good. I have to keep reminding myself not to take bites of things! No wonder I can't lose weight..I don't even think twice before popping a grape, candy corn, chip or whatever else is laying around into my mouth! I did Atkins a year or so ago and have kept three-quarters of the weight off, but haven't been able to get things moving again when I got off it because I was dying for some different food after 4 months. When I heard about this program, it seemed perfect. I should be getting my book I ordered today or tomorrow, but I like the idea that you can get some of those things back into your diet sooner. I've also noticed that I actually do better when I splurge once-in-a-while then get back on the diet before so it's cool that there is actually some science behind it.Quote:

You need to net out the fiber to get the carbs you have to count in week 1. The nutritional info should break those down. Please remember you do not count carbs past week 1...we cycle our carbs in based on the food lists provided in the book Tracey, Trader Joe's dressings are available only at Trader Joe's stores! I like the Berenstein's Light Cheese Fantistico dressing...I add fresh ground pepper to it and YUMMY!! |

A Note To Those In Week 2 and Beyond
Please Please Please Do not get discouraged if you see the scale move up and/or not move through these next couple of week. I lost 10 pounds in week 1 then when up and down for several weeks until i dropped a pound here and there...NOW 14 POUNDS (can I get a whoot whoot) and near 2 sizes smaller in 8 short weeks I can tell you if you work the program HONESTLY it will work. I got frustrated with my weight not moving...BUT used my pants and clothes to keep my head in check...and the support from Kelley, Renee, Connie, Tam and Marymc (miss you dear)...among others...to encourage me to keep on with it. I was a very tight size 12 and I am now comfortably in my 10s and actually wore my 8 (out of the house mind you) the other day!! So please...look for alternative ways to gauge your success not just the scale!
OK...off my soap box! Trying to help you all as best I can!! ![]() Uhm and when I say honestly, I don't mean perfectly...I enjoyed my carb up days exceedingly well!! I also had some slippage days due to illness and bad choices. This program has built in 'fixes' to assist us in getting on track. IT WORKS IT REALLY DOES!!

Week 2 Day 2 10lbs lost so far
Welcome Pam, this site will get you fit for sure. All the encouragement here works wonders. So how many week 1's are there now? Week 2? We still 8? Carb-down ladies can tell at a glance but I get lost.
Is there a spell check on this because I'm spoiled. Just got back from the gym. I'm only able to do half my work out, guess all those carbs I use to eat really gave me energy. Not getting discouraged, just figuring out what works with what. On week 1 Wendy told you 20 carbs a day total, now we know to count caloris but is there a limit? Are we policing ourselves? That certainly makes everything tricky. I'm going to try to talk one of the guys into doing this, he's trying very hard to lose weight. I think this would work for him, he loves to eat anything. So 5 times a day would be up his alley. |

Yep - for the first week when you count carbs you are counting Net or Fit carbs total carbs minus total fiber!

I haven't counted calorie one - just follow the eating pattern for the day. There is no calorie count because everyone is different. Sounds like you are pretty active so eat. There is a program you can check out that teaches you to eat to your BMR. |

Carb down day 2...week 9...
Someone asked about energy and carbs... I can say that I have learned to put my carb (when I only have one) in my meal with some protein and a little fat (my egg salad sandwich is my favorite pre-workout meal) about 1-1.5 hours before my workout. Then I have the energy to push through it with vigor. I find myself dragging when there is too much time between my carb and my workout. Maybe this helps someone!! ![]() Last edited by free to be me; 10-21-2008 at 01:25 PM.. |

!I am w1d2 as well. I think we are not encouraged to exercise during week 1. However, just because I can't help it, I do by default. I have to walk my 140 lb dog or he'll eat me . I guess starting week 2, I'll start riding him and chalk it up to "horseback riding" !!!Good luck to you and let's keep in touch and help each other ![]() |

Besides the Trader Joes' Lite Ranch Dressing which is in the cooler area where the bagged lettuce is located, Paul Newman has a lite Italian which is made with olive oil and it great too.
Trader Joes also has the Ezekiel Breads and tortillas, and their own brand of flourless bread. Word to the wise on the bread, it spoils fairly quickly, so freeze it. It defrosts really fast in the toaster. Sara |
