Anyway, I started my first of 5 carb down days today so I'm back in week 2 with the rest of you lovely ladies.

Hey Wildcat - glad to have you back on plan too!!! I think you were on schedule with me, but jumping back to week 2 is a good idea. I'm with Kelley on the number of carb down days. Jerri did post something a long time ago, but I can't remember where. I saved the infor on holiday eating, but not vacation eating. I'm sure she'll be back soon to let you know. Yea for starting again!!!

Jody – congrats on your weight loss! Kutgw!

Pat – I lost the most the first week and was quite disappointed after that but am starting week 7 and down 10lbs now. I totally fluctuated in week 2, 3 and 4 and lost maybe one or two pounds then and now starting week 7, am down 10 so just keep at it and don’t worry so much about the scale. I still weigh myself a few times a day but I am really liking how my clothes are fitting, that is where I can tell the most. Also, I weigh myself so much cause I can’t believe I have lost 10lbs and I just need a reminder that the scale is not playing a cruel joke on me!

Kim – instead of the protein powder on your oatmeal, you should try the Atkins premade shakes. They are delicious on oatmeal, I like the vanilla the best. I am totally not a runner and have only done two days of the c25k program and I actually like it. The first day I could only do it for 20 minutes and the second day I did it for 25 minutes. I am looking forward to doing it tomorrow. I alternate days with Curves and C25k (or at least that is my plan!)

Kelley – glad you had fun and sorry you ended up not feeling well. Hope you get better soon!

Renee – congrats on the 5 minute run. I hope I am able to achieve that. I just started and will be doing day 3 of week 1 tomorrow.

Everyone – I have printed off the food logs and use them daily to plan my meals. Each food log is pretty close to what you should be eating with a few ‘tweaks’ but I just refer back to the book and fill it p/v/s/o/ff/a etc, whatever I am supposed to be eating for that week. That is also where I keep track of the day/week I am on. I actually plan almost a week in advance. I change it if I want but at least I start out with a plan. Does all that make sense? Sorry for the dumb question but people keep talking about ‘kosher’, what does that mean?

Can anyone tell me how much protein we are supposed to eat a day? I am sure I read how many grams but can’t seem to find it now, even went through the book . . . How about how much fat too?

Chris – I open word and then everytime someone says something that I want to comment on, I switch to word, type their name and my comment then back to reading again. When I am finished, I cut and paste into the comment spot on the thread.

Lani – i got rid of all that stuff from the house so I am not tempted and no one in my family needs cookies and chips anyways (they are thin but those foods are not good for them). It would be really hard for me if the temptation was there but I do find myself craving things like that less and less. I also bought the 100 calorie cookie treats and chips so that at least if I ‘fall off the wagon’ the calories are controlled.

Molly – I posted before that I absolutely HATE carb up days because I start out with a carb and then go crazy. I have now cut out my carb in the morning and eat carbs for supper and for my snack, otherwise I can’t seem to stop myself. I am like you, oh, I have lost 10lbs now, I deserve a treat . . . I have always used food for my moods, happy, sad, mad etc. and it is hard to get out of that habit. When I look at a food I can’t eat ( I made the family banana cream) I know that if I start, just one teency weency forkful, I won’t be able to stop so I don’t have any at all and was happy my family enjoyed it. There was one piece left and I made them eat it so it didn’t sit in the fridge and call my name.

Good luck to everyone starting again!
Kate - GREAT advice!!! And for my 5 minute run - you can do it too!! I NEVER thought I would be able to run for 5 minutes straight, but I was able to start week 5 today - YEA!!! I might follow your lead on my next carb up day - start with a protein based breakfast and wait till the last meals for my carbby stuff - good idea!

Hi Ladies...back from my run and weight session...feeling stronger. For those of you who asked...the ex...yes he is something else. He is not complying with some of the courts orders, as a result I have to file legal actions to force his compliance...right? Yes. Well, yesterday at pick up (he has a 4 hour visit on 2 Sunday's a month)...he started pestering me about the attorney and the court action. I told him I would not discuss it in front of our child (duh) and that he needed to direct his questions/issues to my attorney. He then poked his finger in my chest and came up to my face (about 1" away) and yelled at me (his spit was hitting me in the face) "If you continue with this you will regret it"...I slipped away and ran inside to call the police as he would not just go and then he yelled "Your greed will kill you" . The police did nothing, as you can imagine. They consider it a "custodial" issue. The policeman treated me like I was a hysterical ex-wife. Listen, I am NO shrinking violet and this time the ex really scared me. In any event, my recourse is to file an anti-harassment protection order...and so I am. The paperwork is extensive and I won't have it done until tomorrow...but boy howdee...getting the police to actually do something to protect you is a very hard thing to do. I felt like saying...i am so sorry to break up your coffee hour. My word. Anyhoo...enough of me I told y'all it was a story for a different support group!! Thanks for your concerns and for listening. I DID NOT EAT BADLY IN RESPONSE TO THE STRESS!! That is a success!

Carbing down has been easy today...ask me on Wednesday or Thursday! MAN, I am going to enjoy my Saturday this weekend! Aren't we girls?? Connie, Kimad, Onex, Sunny...I know there a re a few more with us restarting...how many total??

Well, I guess I'm off to do bedtime routine. I hear loud thuds and bumps coming from the living room. Yes, Power Rangers is on and that always inspires DS to karate chop everything that he can reach with his feet. Melissa, can I come hide with you? G'Night all!!!!!!

Thanks Renee...I was laughing with my sister...I told her I could be the subject of a lifetime movie!! Or maybe an ABC after-school special!! It is so absurd sometimes I have to laugh...surreal actually.

I swear kids know when we are tired and stressed...even when we keep it in check so well! My young one has been cranky ever since the ex brought her back yesterday. She went to bed cranky, woke up cranky, fussed near all day...OH MY!! It is exhausting! She is FINALLY settled down and watching a movie...thank goodness for Barbie and the Diamond Castle! I hate to use the TV as a sitter but dang!! Where is the "I'm ripping my hair out" yellow face?!?!? Melissa and Renee...I want to play hide and seek and tell my daughter to hide! I'll let her believe she is such a good hider I can't find her! Ya think it'll work??

Need your help with protein shake question

I was searching through my cupboards and found some Curves vitamin and mineral supplement drink mix; chocolate flavour. From searching on the net it's got no sugar and 30 gr of protein. The big problem is it is soy: soy protein isolate. Think I could use this for a week or so until I have more $ to get the right stuff? I am needing something like this to get through the day... how bad could this be?

Opinions?

Happy to report I had broccoli and I successfully carbed down today. Just 3 more cups of water and I will have done that too.

I did see that, thanks! And thank you Jerri! I was just looking for something on vacation eating, but after re-reading her post, I see she hasn't posted it yet. I guess I figured I would have to more than 4 carb down days after a full week of cheating.

Quick Check In

Taking a quiet moment to check in an see how we all did. I’m glad to say Day 1 is done and so much for worrying. Still not hungry. Going to work out earlier and see how that goes. How’s the Terrific 8 doing?

You all figure out the first day. See ya before I go to bed.

Allisa, perhaps he has some in his family that can talk with him. It’s pretty serious, take care.

Onexone good for you! The water will help , if I get shakey I just drinks some cold water and feel better. Hmm I’m not sure about the shake, but plenty of ladies here who drink it a lot so they will

YAY onexone!!

Well, Wendy does not like soy protein for a variety of reasons...you can google it and find tons of articles on it. There are many body builders and fitness folks who don't like soy protein. At the same time, I think you need to decide what it may mean to you and the program you want to work. If it is going to help you succeed in this 5 carb down week, then I say it would be worth it especially if you can't get an alternative protein powder/shake.

Dancing Linda - Ya did it! Nice photo!

Crickett - look for Renee's cheeseburger salad on the recipe thread (go to page 1, 3rd post). Everyone RAVES about it! I have not tried it with my Mom yet, but plan to this week.

Onex - A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! There may be reasons why soy is not the best choice, but........ A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

I forgot to buy broccoli at the store today, and you are a cup of water ahead of me! But I have about 4 hours to bed, so I think I will make it!

Meatpea - glad your BF is hanging in there with you! Hope he knows he is included when we say "Ladies"!

Alissa - Here's who I have on the Carb Down week list: Kim, Sunny, Wildcat, Tyler'sGM, Jeanib, Onex, You and Me. Togetherness Ladies!

See newbies. We are not perfect, but what is soooooo wonderful about this WOE, is that if you really screw up it is not hard to get right back doing it again! You all enjoy your baseline days this week!

Later.

Connie

Please, please be careful dear lady! We don't want anything to happen to you and those precious babies. If you need to "get away" for a while, take a trip to Texas! I'll be glad to put your family up for a while!

Week 2 Day 1 10lbs lost

Seem's day 1 went without a hitch. good for us! Dede just go to the top left corner and click the user control and you'll see where to go. Then go down and check you want to use your own avatar and download your photo and then.............go to the bottom and click save. We shall see you tomorrow.

onoxone even though it is a protein drink, because it is soy, I would ask is it effecting how much you lose. Peace of mind might be more important. It's not going anywhere so won't be wasted save for one of your carb-up days.

Carb-Down Ladies our hats are off to you and keep inspiring your underlings!

I'm heading to the gym at 5a.m. so I'm off to bed. This is our usual time but not eating all night in bed might effect how much energy I have to do this. will post tomorrow results.
goodnight everyone~

Dede– I usually have it for breakfast and when I was really hungry, I had two of them. I don’t know about anyone else but I do not count them as a starch because they are mostly egg and flax seed. I would eat them anytime and I count them as a protein.

Alissa - sorry for our experience. It must have been frightening. He isn’t getting his own way so he is getting nasty. I will pray for you.

WHO HAS THE RICIPE FOR ZUCCHINI FRIES??? Please tell me where it is or post it. Thanks.

Your profile picture is the picture that shows up on your personal profile and your avatar is the picture that shows up when you post something. Does that help anyone?

4 carb down and back to week 2 - Day 1

Jusr wanted to tell you what I had for dinner tonight. It was really good and I don't know why I did not think of it before. Made beef fajitas, and since no evening carbs for me, I thought I would have a nice salad with it. Then I said, why not put the fajitas on my lettuce? And I did and it was goooood!!!

So another dinner/lunch idea for everyone.

Wanted something warm after my walk this evening as it is getting cool here. Hmmmm...what would happen if I warmed up my Atkins chocolate shake and had it like hot chocolate? It was pretty good I think!

Tam - are you out there? Hope all is well with you and your kiddo!

Have a cracking good day Ladies and Gentlemen!

Hey Alissa. Just couldn't let this go by without making a comment. I was actually having flashbacks to a few years ago when my ex did the same thing to me. I swear, there was one particular time when if there'd happened to have been a sharp instrument close by....well,let's just say that the temprary insanity thing is real!
WHEW! glad that craziness is all done now but I have to say,he's still an a** most every time I have to talk to him. Unfortunately, because kids are involved,we'll be tied to our exes forever. The good news is that it does get better. Your ex does not know how to handle NOT being in control anymore. It drives them crazy. Just keep your cool,(as it sounds like you did), and you'll be so much bigger than him.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I truely understand. I'll keep you in my prayers sister!

So another dinner/lunch idea for everyone.

week 11 day 2 (and day 2 of carbing down)

Hello Cracker Ladies!

Well my killer school week starts today. I am up-to-here with projects that are due, things to hand in, and a meeting about the job I have at school in the ceramics room.
I'm not sure how I'll get everything done. I don't think I've been this far behind before but I must have been at some point. I will get it done no matter how late I have to stay up this week. Next week my schedule changes cause I don't have to work over the weekends anymore. That will be a relief.

Anyway, have my lunch packed, ate my breakfast, am waiting on some boiled eggs to throw in there for snacks and I am good to go. My body let go 4lbs of water weight overnight from my carbfest this weekend. I am not so far from 249 as I was yesterday. I may just make it in time for my birthday yet

Gotta run. Have a crackin' day everyone!

Good morning all. I tried a protein shake yesterday afternoon, it wasn't bad and it certainly helped me through a late afternoon meeting until I could get home for supper. I will try one as a morning snack today.

Wendymarie, Are you using the powder or premade shakes? If you are using a chocolate powder and like coffee, try adding a tsp of instant coffee. It made a huge difference in the taste for me and I don't even like instant coffee. Anyways just a suggestion for variety...The Mocha protein shake receipe is in the book...It's yummy!
