BootCamp Charlie (August Edition)

August 2008 EDITION

Welcome to Bootcamp Charlie, a place started by my man Mack's alter-ego, Sarge. All men are welcome to join, but be prepared to exercise, eat right, and catch some flak for slacking off. We don't give hugs and kisses for failure, but will give a swift kick in the pants when you need a little encouragment.

The rules are easy:

1. Weigh in every Monday. Report your previous weeks weight and your current weeks weight.

2. On the 1st of each month report what you can:

All time high
Weight as of 1/1/2008
Current weight
Total pounds from high
Total pounds lost in 2008

3. No Emoticons. Nothing will get you latrine duty faster than a smiley.

4. Visitor's are welcome every Sunday and on Holidays to post encouragment or whatever you feel like saying. We're men and need our place, but we do enjoy visits from the ladies (Pictures of the ladies are always welcome!!!!).

5. Share what works, what doesn't, but check in often. Straying from the camp for a period usually means somethings gone wrong. While tempting, don't go AWOL just because you screwed up. We don't like to send out the MPs, but will when necessary. Soap Beat-Downs may be handed out on extreme cases (as in missing more than a couple weeks without checking in).

I guess since it is technically August I'll post up here.

Work was hell today. I know now why controllers have the reputation of being alchy's. had our first 3 non-radar problems today, and I had a rap sheet half a page long of operational errors and other things I had screwed up. I think I might try to transfer to the postal service, at least then I can carry a gun.

Did day 1 of push up challenge this morning, not to bad, wish I would have pushed it a littler harder in the end but I'm sure I'll come out ok. Did 4 miles tonight on the treadmill, and 100 incline crunches. Abs are gonna kill me tomorrow.

Thanks for the August thread 2000H

Stats for the month.

7/1 - 338.5 lbs

8/1 - 318 lbs

(-20.5 lbs) Which I know is pretty crazy this far into it. I did go up a half a pound for no reason this morning. I'm sure I will not get an sympathy for that though. Either way, I am ready to it again this month. Hope we all have a good numbers to report today, and some good losses in August.

-11 for July

Although I am pleased with the re-loss, since Monday I haven't seen the scale budge off that number even thou I've hit the gym hard, and stuck to the diet very close. Maybe by Monday things will be different.

Nice weight loss oobatooba and CTI. CTI: your adding muscle. No way anything can be going bad if your sticking to plan and hitting the gym.

Looking forward to a great month. Based on the heat, should sweat off 20 lbs this month alone.

1/4/2008 265.8
8/1/2008 218.0
58 loss total
48 in 2008

Check this out:

April Challenge 15.0
May Challenge 10.8
June Challenge 7.6

I'd say I'm slowing down...but the exercise has increased. Must be a shift in the body going on cuz I know I'm getting thinner still. All you other dudes that have reached a near goal weight. Is that kinda what happened?

To recap some July thread stuff:

oobs - yeah, thats the new bike
big D - Ive been sportin' those for years, interesting to hear the link
ed - I was
Harley - got passed by biker dudes on the way to work today. they were carrying bags on their bikes heading west so I figured its a Sturgis run. Didnt see any 6 ft high though so I knew it wasnt you.

C25k:
Week 5 day 2 tonight. Each time I hit the C25k I feel kinda anxious about it...but ive never had to stop yet. A 20 min run on Sunday is what the plan is....yeah, nervous/anxious about it but have the confidence I can try hard. Wish me luck dudes.

Bike:
Only the third time on the new bike and Ive already laid it down. Yesterday my H2O bottle popped out so I went to stop and get it. ummm...duh wall, youre locked in. If you dont unlock by the time you stop youre gonna topple over. I did. Lesson learned, Ill bet I looked pretty funny to the old guy who stopped to make sure I was ok.

Sounds like several of us should post some Before/After pictures.
Hey shine, try and keep your shirt on though...

This retirement lifestyle has been too good for me. I got to give myself a good arse kicking and get in gear.

Reporting for duty, Sir! (still can't drop and give you 20 yet, but soon...)
6/2/08 - 320 - Good Lord, I hope this is my highest.
7/1/08 - 305 - 15 pounds lost in June
8/1/08 - 292 - 13 pounds lost in July

Yesterday the gym gave me my free T-shirt (2x) for completing 50 workouts. Yay!
I've been going up and down the same couple of pounds for a week, then poof I drop 2 extra over night. Maybe it's all the koolaid I'm drinking lately. Lol.

real happy with maintaining, just wondering why ive not put on a little bit more weight with all the exercising and sculpting we've been doing here, i know ive only had about 4 days off this month, so that could be part of it,

for August, im loking forward to the pushup challenge, also getting into more weight lifting and keeping up the cardio, with perhaps moving on to the real deal P90X September 1st

great job all you losers and maintainers

all you AWOL'ers, get yer butts back in here and post today, you know who were talking about ! Alex, Chris (if ya still come here) dvldawg what the hell, you were doing so great and then vanish! and the others i cant think of their name cause im half asleep

I am kinda the same way some times. A few days with no loss, then down 2 lbs the next day. I try to look at the numbers by the week or month and not get to involved in the day to day fluctuations. Congrats on the new T-shirt too.

Speeking of MIA's, I don't think I have seen any posts from Corpus lately. Did he go on a trip or some thing?

Hey Guys...Harley Checking in on Sat. Morning.

This will probably be my last check in until I get back from Sturgis. I am packing and getting ready to go on the ride from Hell. I would post some pictures from the rally, but I would probably get kicked off the site from most of the content.

I plan on taking it easy on the food while I am gone...try to stick to mostly protein. The drinking will be another story I am afraid.

Take care and keep working hard gents!

Saterday check in. I've been bouncing around the same number on the scale the past three days, which is kinda anoying me. I always tell others not to get so stuck on what the scale is reading, but I don't really like to take my own advise. Hope every one is having a good weekend.

Very odd, I swear I posted yesterday, but it's no where to be seen. I guess I forgot to hit the "post" button. Anyway, here are my disappointing July #s:

1/1/08 - 219.6
7/1/08 - 196.9
8/1/08 - 199.0
Highest ever - 265
VFZ - 186 (4/05)

A little up for July, but not too bad considering I was on vacation for two of the weeks. August will be a different story.

July was a good month for most of our campers. Congrats to the big losers.

Wall, the history of sideburns, Sideburns - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I am a direct descendant of Ambrose's father, Edghill Burnside. SO I guess he's a great, great, great, great uncle.

I intended to jog and then start my 100pu challenge, but after playing golf and then swimming for 2 hours with the kids, I'm beat. It was a blazing 105 here today. When I got in my car after golf this afternoon, the thermostat was reading 122. It's the highest I've ever seen it read. Absolutely brutal.

Heya - long time no see.

My new recipe I invented tonight - grilled cheese and turkey sandwich without the bread.

6 oz sliced turkey
2 slices pepperjack cheese

Heat up a little oil (I used bacon grease), break them up and pan fry until the cheese melts.

Inspired by a recipe I saw on another thread around here: real fast tuna casserole.

a 6 oz can of tuna, drained and mixed with mayo
some shredded cheddar cheese (I've just sliced up a cheese string)

heat 1-2 Tbsp oil in a pan, spread the cheese around, then spread on the tuna w/ mayo. Pan fry until the cheese has bubbled for a couple minutes.

I have been total king of slack. This must change. My goal for this month is getting back to onederland. Now it's time for me to get off the computer and go outside.

I had a nice movement this morning. A scale movement that is. So, my 3 day stall just broke. I am sure every one was concerned, and I am glad I can put every one's minds at ease.

During my bike ride this morning, I got caught in a rain shower. I though about turning back, but figured I would soaked by the time I got back to the house any way, so I just pushed through it.

I realize as much as I complain about the heat, BigD must have it worse in Texas. Although the humidity is mofo in the southeast. It feels like every time you go outside some one throws a hot damp towel on your face.

Hope every one is having a good weekend. Remember we weigh in again tomorrow morning.

Heck yeah Ken. I can see a difference all over, arms, shoulders, chest, and certainly around the waist. Nice job, even your hair looks more toned. You need to get on the next P90 infomercial.

Shiner - good job man, i hope my change is that drastic. Now get out in that summer sun and get some color in yer skin.

2nd day of 100 pushup workout today. Ended with 16 reps till failure. Not feeling to bad over all. I'm heading down town to get some ink done, been wanting a tat for my eagle scout and just never got around to it. Since I'm single now (the ex didn't like em) I figured I'd do something crazy and go get it done. I'll post up a pic later tonight of it. Looks like a small loss for me tomorrow, nothing to impressive but at least in the right direction. Went out last night for a couple of beers down town, still dont know anyone down here so it was kinda awkward sitting at the bar alone, but w/e.

Out for now.

Well I'm back, wow that was an experience. For those of you that dont have one, imagine snapping a rubber band on your skin for about 2 hours straight. Overall it wasn't to bad, there were a few points where he was shading in around my upper lats that made my whole back spasm. I'm really happy with it, cant wait for a few weeks to pass to let all the shading come through. Here's a couple of pics;
