Good morning everyone. Work posted requesting resumes for the Supervisory Clinical Nurse position. I will be turning in my resume today. I am having issues with the old Pediatrician again. He sent an email to the head of the clinic, the senior medical officer and my supervisor stating that he needs me to do his job and they need to stop having me fill in as boss. He commented that I am a 'god send' and he couldn't find me when he wanted to talk to me. I am so ready to move onward and upward!

I stuck to plan yesterday but didn't get in a workout. I did lose some water weight which was nice but I need to get off a few "real" pounds

Lynn~ If he has been around a long time then they probably know how he is and may only take what he says with a grain of salt. I always hope people will judge you for who you are and not what someone else thinks of you.

Good afternoon....nice to see a few people here today! It's been WAY too quiet lately.

Was on plan again yesterday and am DOWN another 1 lb.

Lynn....When does the old coot have to retire? Or is there a mandatory retirement date in the military? If not, it's too bad. Here's hoping you will be able to move on soon. Just be careful you don't jump from the frying pan into the fire!! Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know....but that said, sometimes it's better to get out and at least have a different devil to contend with. I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Cat....Even water weight loss is better than gaining!! Hang in there, we are on the right track!!

Hi...to anyone who checks in. Hugs for those who need one....

See ya all later!!

Hi Ladies!

Just dropping by to see how everyone is doing. I'm down another pound, but it's definitely slow going! I guess I didn't gain it all over night right? LOL

I had a very yummy salad for lunch today and it was from McDonald's! It was a grilled chicken southwest salad with Paul Newman's Southwest dressing. I was surprised at how good it was....will definitely be ordering that again!

Keep up the hard work and the results will be soon to follow!

Take care everyone

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but are you aware that this salad is really a pretty high carb meal? The salad without dressing has 30 grams of carbs (11 grams sugar). The Newman's Dressing has 11 grams of carbs (3 grams sugar)....so that's 41 grams of carbs. It does have 30 grams of protein, but that's still really not a good ratio. That's probably why it tasted good.

Here's a link to the counts for McDonald's foods for anyone who is interested:

Thanks for the info Judy but if you remember I am eating more carbs because the very low-carb eating was screwing up my TOM cycles. I am TTC and the very LC diet was causing me not to ovulate. Since I switched I've lost about 9 pounds and I watch my calories. I usually eat about 1500 calories per day. Per my endo's advice, I've added more carbs.

Gracie...I guess I have even less memory cells than I thought. I had forgotten that. I'm beginning to think maybe I should add some more veggies occasionally just to shake things up a bit. What period of time did it take to lose the 9 lbs? And how many carbs are you averaging? Per meal or daily?

I was DOWN just 0.2 of a pound this morning. It's SO slow most of the time and it looks like I just might be in line for a bounce UP soon. That's what usually happens after several days of losing fairly well, which I have had for the last few days now.

Have a good day and KUTGW!! See ya....

Hey Judy, I know how it is, I can't remember what I did yesterday let alone what everyone on here does! After I went to the endo I actually started following Slim-Fast Optima (gasp!) which was on June 19th. I checked my calendar and as of today I am officially down 10 pounds. So, it's been about 2.5 pounds per week. I'm sure it will slow down soon. I like it because I can easily stick to plan. I have a shake in the morning about 8 am, a slim-fast snack bar at about 10:30 am, lunch is usually a big veggie salad with maybe a little grilled chicken along with either a shake or meal bar, and dinner is whatever my family is having. I can also have another snack in the evening if I feel like it. I have been drinking tons of water. I still am staying away from a lot of fruits and trying to eat "whole" foods. I like it because if I do have a "cheat" I don't bounce up 5 pounds! Last weekend was my anniversary and I had a few beers, a turkey hoagie, and a chocolate cookie and didn't gain an ounce. I had been very low-carb for a long time and my body didn't like it anymore. I guess to each her own right? I feel like I'm repairing my metabolism. I'll keep you posted on the weight loss, we are going on vacation at the end of July I plan on staying on plan while away. Good Luck!

HI girls!

I've been missing you all. I've been hanging out in the Main Lobby recently, but haven't posted here because I'm not following M/E right now.

I've been trying to stick to Atkins '72 induction rules (hard!) and keep my fat percentages pretty high. Honestly, though, I've been doing more of a DANDR induction (carbs <20) and have actually been losing weight the past 3 days.

Gracie, it's funny you mentioned that you've lost 9 pounds since adding in more carbs. . .I've found that recently, the days I'm losing better are the ones with higher carb numbers. I'm going to keep track of that, to see if it's real or just a coincidence. However, I AM back to religiously using ******. I have to do it, just to be sure I'm not getting out of hand with my food, AND to be able to look back and see what I was eating when I either had a nice loss OR had a gain.

Have a great day, all you wonderful losers!!!

Happy Friday to everyone!

Well I did the very thing that I try to avoid, which is way too much Splenda...ouch. I was very crampy yesterday. I am feeling better today but my insides still feel a little weak from all the cramping. I am still up a couple of pounds, but I am still working M/E as close as possible I just need to add more water. I am just 12 days away from vacation and will try to stick close to plan for most of my vacation although it will be hard. We camp so I cook most of the meals except for just a few so I am just hoping to maintain.

Gracie & Andrea ~ Happy Anniversary!

Have a great one girls ya

... Everyone!!

I bounced UP 1 lb yesterday and another 0.4 today....and was on plan other than having some cheese. I gain so much easier now than I used to, it's disgusting. I know my metabolism is all messed up, but I really don't know what to do to straighten it out and I swear, doctors know even less than we do. Or at least if they know more, they aren't sharing it.

It seems like I just keep "starting over." But, if I didn't, I can't even imagine what I'd weigh by now. That said, eating this way IS healthier than eating junk food...weight loss or not....so I will stick with it for the most part and when "life" interferes and I go off plan, it's right back on. That's the best I can do and I know it. Getting depressed about it just sabatoges me so I have stopped doing that.

Cat....Maintaining while on vacation is SO good. Not many are able to do that. I know I never do. KUTGW and stay true to yourself. We can do this.

Hello Ladies!

This is my second attempt and the sad thing is I was almost finished with my long winded post.....oh well if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

Hello ladies! It has been awhile as life at this end has been quite busy! I finally got my pool and have been enjoying that every chance I get. I start back to school the 19th of August so as you can imagine every day the sun is shining I am in the pool!

I woulde be quite anxious to see what it is you are doing Gracie as I have hit a big standstill and am getting quite frustrated. As you all know I have been following the meat and eggs since June of last year! I think my body is ready for a change as well as more carbs, or at least I think it is! I also find myself "splurging" more and I don't like that! My usual day consist of 3 scrambled eggs with deli ham for a mid day meal and then meat and a salad with ranch dressing for dinner. I have been walking, matter of fact I got 20 miles in......in 4 days last week. I also find myself staying away from the scale which throws my accountability out the window. I have been playing with 5 extra pounds on and off for the past month! Any suggestions would be appreciated! I do know there is no going back, just want to start losing again!

I will have to admit this divorce has agreed with me as life is simply wonderful which is something I never thought I would say! I am a different person because of it and my attitude has done a 180!

I do hope this finds you all well! I will try to get on this more as you all have such a wonderful way of motivating me and I know I would not be where I am today if it weren't for all of you ! Thank you ladies!

Have a great weekend one and all and as always......be happy and keep smiling!

Kim...Good to see your smiling face again. Or should I say, it's good to see your face smiling again??

Divorce can be a horrible experience, or it can be a wonderful and liberating experience. I'm glad yours was the latter. Mine was too. I only wish I had done it years before I did.

Do keep coming back, no matter what plan you are on. We need all the encouragement we can get (at least I do) and it's been pretty quiet here lately. Everyone seems to be pretty busy as they always are in the summer.

KUTGW and let me know if you find the magic key to getting out of the "stalls." I seem to live in "bounce-land" and I'm really tired of it.

Hi all,
I have been lurking off and on for the past few months. I lost about 35 pounds last summer following meat and eggs. It was such a "god-send" for me! I had lost some weight doing Atkins several years before that and even though I was still eating fairly "low-carb", the weight just kept creeping back and even though I would be more faithful following Atkins, I could not lose weight. I saw the article in "Woman's World" last June and then found this site. In fact, I think I started ME about the same time that Kim did. By the way, Kim, you look BEAUTIFUL!! Congratulations and I am so glad your life is going so well.

I did reach my goal beginning of last August and then I started following Carbohydrate Addict's Diet. Then I even got about 5 pounds under goal. That was wonderful -- I had a great winter! However, when spring came, I went back up to goal. When summer came, I gained another 5 pounds and then about a week ago, I went back to ME again. IT WORKS!! I lost those 5 pounds in a week and I feel so much better.

I was so scared that the weight would not come off -- I've lost hundreds of pounds throughout my adult life, but it is so hard to keep them off. My plan is to strictly follow ME during the week and then do CAD weekends to make sure those pounds stay off. I have found that CAD is definitely something that is easy for me to maintain on -- I just was starting to have too many desserts during my Reward Meal... that doesn't work. What does work though is Meat and Eggs.

By the way, when I went in for my yearly check-up (which was 3 years check-up instead), my doctor remarked on how healthy I was and he recommended I stay on my Low Carb diet. My cholesterol and trigycerides along with my blood pressure were improved!

Enough rambling, I just wanted to tell you all how inspirational you all are... even when I'm lurking!

Thanks and KUTGW! This is a great place!
Karen

Morning all...It is steamy here. I have got to get this weight off before next summer. I do not want to live another hot season covered in long pants, highly insulated with fat and sweaty and uncomfortable. Time to start living the life again!

Well, now....here's one for ya!! I went to a b-day party for the 82 year old mother of one of my son's friends. I ate WAY off plan....but I am DOWN 0.2 of a pound. Go figure!! I had a piece of fried chicken, passed on the potato salad, beans, etc......but I had beer and beer and beer....with which I had a couple of bread rolls (to soak up the beer since my stomach was pretty empty...hadn't eaten all day) and a few cheezits. Then later I had more beer, a small piece of cake and a couple of homemade cookies.

Now, don't get excited thinking this will work for ya all or for me all of the time. I "know" that what I didn't gain (and the miniscule amount I lost) is due to the water lost because of the beer. I always lose when I occasionally drink a lot of beer.
It goes right down the toilet...so to speak.

back, Karen.... Do check in more often. As Lynn said, you are an inspiration and I NEED all the inspiration I can get.

Lynn....so long as you don't give up, you are on the right road overall. We CAN do this. We both know it. I'll be damned if I'll give up....excuse the language....but I won't. Even when I'm not losing, I feel so much better eating this way. I KNOW it's healthier for me. Anyone who feels it isn't healthy, shouldn't do it....but I shall continue and hope you guys will always be here. I NEED you....and together, we can do this.

Kim....You are lookin' so good. I appreciate you continuing to come here and inspire us after you have been so successful. It seems like so many who make it to goal stop coming....and those of us who are struggling are so encouraged when we read posts by those who have been successful. KUTGW and keep inspiring us.

Gotta run....See ya all later.....Hi, to anyone else who checks in.

In the heat I really FEEL my weight. Eating off plan only makes it worse. The heat makes me feel swollen and all of my joints are feeling the heat and my extra pounds these days. I am also so much more tired feeling in the heat. Going to get up early each morning and get back to walking. It always makes the day better once done. I have more energy and more willpower to stick to an eating plan when I have exercise starting the day.

It's Monday which can be great for so many of us weekend cheaters

I had a party on Saturday, which I of course cheated at. But yesterday I did so good that I am even down a pound. Ten pounds to go and hello maintenance.

Karen ~ I am planning on doing 4 days of Stillman's QWL & 3 days of something else (not sure yet) when I get to my goal weight. Congrats on your losses, what an inspiration.

Kim ~ Always glad to read from you. You look great, glad things are working out for you! I am close to goal and I feel as if I am pulling on stubborn mule trying to lose these last ten.

Judy ~ Whatever works

Lynn ~ Don't give up you can get that weight off, just keep working on it, it will happen for you!

Have a great day everyone, see you tomorrow!

I was UP 0.6 of a pound this morning, but after what I did on Saturday (and lost a smidge on Sunday), I'm not complaining.
Was on plan yesterday and will be on plan today so maybe the scale will be good to me tomorrow.

Gonna be hot and humid here today. Keep cool everyone who lives in the hot/humid areas. The rest of you enjoy the weather and think of me.

Gotta run.....KUTGW....See ya later!!

Thanks for the encouraging words, but I'm not an inspiration . What has made a difference in my weight is the "Meat and Eggs" WOE. I could not successfully lose weight no matter what I did -- I wasn't gaining a lot with all my dieting, but I could not lose until I started M/E. I have been somewhat successful maintaining the last year or so, but when I did gain some I needed to go back to M/E to lose. I am so thankful I found this thread last summer -- it has changed my life !! Many of you were the encouragers that helped me lose my weight -- THANKS

I did gain a pound during the weekend, but I had a couple of picnics to go to so it could have been worse. My plan is to eat M/E during the week and then add more fruits/veggies during the weekend, but things keep coming up making it hard to follow that exactly. Tomorrow I'm having some fellow-teachers over for lunch. I'm serving "summerberry salad" copied after a salad I had at Paradise Bakery/Cafe. It's romaine lettuce with slice strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple, and poppyseed dressing. I'm going to have a tray of sliced turkey and ham ... I'll try to eat more of that.

Have a great day tomorrow -- stay cool!
Karen

Nice to be appreciated. Unfortunate to be held back by those we look to for support and encouragement. I hope you get fair consideration of your qualifications - and are offered the chance to MOVE ONWARD AND UPWARD!
