This week has definitly not been a good M/E week. I just couldn't get into it.
I missed my veggies.. I haven't eaten alot of veggies though. Just some salad and asparagus.. nothing else carb wise though. No frankenfoods, no eggcreams, no fruit. Maybe I will give it a try again next week. I don't want to restrict myself too bad because I don't want to go on a binge. It kind of scared me when I was craving the cake the other day! I wanted a piece SOOO bad! I decided to add in veggies for a while and I haven't had a craving like that again..yet. |

Homegrown tomatoes...oh, what a memory!
I envy you, having a treat like homegrown tomatoes. I had two slices of pretty good tomato on my treat today - half# of Carl's bun-free burger patties with pepper-jack cheese and pickle chips. What a treat! Funny, how we change our notion of what a real treat is. I like my fish. I really do. But my weekly beef blowout gives me a lot of pleasure! Then back to fish and eggs. Well, berries are part of my plan today. Blackberries. Yum! All those seeds; fiber, right?

Morning all.
This whole waiting thing on the job is starting to get old, but I have no control over it so trying not to lose it. I saw the human resources guy in our clinic yesterday and asked him if he knew when notification would be made to whomever is selected. He was very friendly to me and I tried not to read into that, but he said that the selection was made last week after the interviews and it is just up to the headquarters in Philadelphia to make the offer. I am glad to know the process is that far, but it could take weeks to know who they chose. I did tell my parents that I definitely will NOT be seeing them the end of September. My mom took it better than my dad. I told them that with the new job issues hitting right at that time, likely starting a new job the week before they want me there and the fact that I have to put my career and future of my family ahead of one day in their lives, the timing didn't work for me and I would visit another time. I was very proud of myself for thinking of my needs ahead of theirs, finally! Have a great day all!

Best to prepare your parents for what we HOPE will be great good news in your career. Who knows but you MAY be able to slip away, to surprise them, but it is certainly best to prepare them for what you see looming ahead of you as far as advancing your career and being available to do what needs to be done.
I'm so hoping you find a really exciting opportunity ahead of you. Fingers and eyes crossed for you. Holding my breath too. Lots of vicarious joy happening here as I prepare to do a HaPpYdance as soon as you give us the go-ahead! |

Coffee has carbs. I don't care what anyone says. I sense carbs in a fragrant cuppa java, so I count carbs as I use espresso crystals to flavor my WPP. It makes sense to me. I still aim for <5% carbs, but I do love my coffee or espresso - carbs be d@mned!

Good morning ladies,
Congrats Lynn for standing up for what you want and need to do at this time. I remember your hx with family and know this a very difficult thing for you to do at this time . Still keeping fingers crossed for you!!Zer~one of my weaknesses is fried green tomatoes. I remember as a child my granny picking fresh grown tomatoes from her garden and cooking them for breakfast!! Ahh, memories...I can now really appreciate veggies homegrown. ![]() |

Good Evening Ladies,
I'm off to bed, but just wanted to stop by so you know I'm still alive! I've been "mostly" on plan, but I stopped losing as I was due to some little cheats and not eating enough... I found this recipe and wanted to share, hope someone likes it! I took it from Mealsmater.org I'll see you all tomorrow! hope you're all having a great weekend! Low Carb Sloppy Joes Contributed By: missyb1986 Low Carb Luxury Ingredients 1 1/2 pounds Lean ground beef 1 Small onion, chopped 1 Green bell pepper, chopped fine 1 cup Heinz One-Carb Ketchup 1/3 cup Beef broth * 2 cloves Garlic, minced 1 tablespoon Chili powder 1 teaspoon Paprika 1 teaspoon Ground cumin 1 teaspoon Distilled white vinegar 3 tablespoons Splenda granular 1 teaspoon Dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon Ground black pepper Preparation In a large skillet over medium-high heat, saute the ground beef for 5 minutes. Add the onion and green bell pepper; saute for 5 more minutes, or until onion is tender. Drain any fat. Mix in Heinz One-Carb Ketchup and beef broth, stirring until well-mixed. Stir in garlic, chili powder, paprika, cumin, vinegar, Splenda, oregano and pepper. Continue to heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until mixture is thick and stewy. Serve over lettuce cups, or over low carb bread/buns as desired. Cook's Notes * There's also a variation where instead of beef broth, you use Diet Cola (only Splenda sweetened like Diet Rite or Pepsi One, etc.) Cut the Splenda in the recipe to 1 Tablespoon if you use the cola. It's different, but still quite delicious.

Thanks for the recipes Angie!
Down 1.8 today for a 2 week total of 12.6 pounds. I was starving yesterday and stayed on plan. That hunger is always a sign for me to have a whoosh so I stuck it out and ate legal food only. Have a great day all. |

Got bacon in the fridge, ready to cook up.
Cage-free eggs, too, ready to cook. No appetite. No stamina to stand up for the time it takes bacon to sizzle. I've got PLANZ to do a lot today! Ooo...recipe link? Yum! Day is breaking in SoCal and I've already consulted my scale to get the news on how well my LC choices are registering with my body. (Not so good, but not so bad as it could be.) Probably a good day to burn off some of the berries I wallowed in yesterday, to save them going bad. Uh-huh, that's the reason I ate all those berries... to save them from going bad. I saved them. Now I've got to save ME from wonky thinking by making more protein choices today! Have yourself a good LC day today! Oooo...just got a pointer from someone, on how to cook bacon in oven, 15mins at 375ş, and I can boil up my eggs in that same 15mins ... and maybe do a wash (20mins) in the same time span. It's all in the same area, so I can hear the wash spin to a stop and shift it to dryer. Maybe I can do this after all, with a chair to rest in between standing up times. What a great support LCFriends is for me. Bless y'all, all of y'all, who help me think through what seems insurmountable stuff. Step by step. Baby steps. It's not brain surgery! Happy Sunday!
Good Sunday morning Ladies! I hope you all have had a relaxing as well as enjoyable weekend! Mine flew at this end to say the least!
I had a good week with the strict m/e..... altho I have been splurging ever since which I can feel! Tomorrow starts a new day as well as better choices. I have a zucchini lasagna ready for this evening's dinner....I am more than looking forward to that...not exactly low carb but could be worse. Last night was meatloaf on the grill, and made the low carb way! I start back to school this week......I tend to think the dieting will be a bit easier once I get back into a routine. I want the additional 10 off before the Holidays are upon us......even better sooner than that! My court appearance went quite well. I am so glad that is behind me as I had myself in a bit of tizzy over it. The ex looked at me with those puppy dog eyes and I did not make any eye contact after that! This was the first of the many times so I best get used to it! Lynn-You remain in my thoughts and prayers! I also commend you for the almost 13 pounds as well as standing up to your parents! Good for you.....I am so proud of you! KUTGW!!!! I wish each and everyone of you a wonderful Sunday as well as a fantastic week! Take care one and all!

Zer - glad you like the idea...it has worked for me for years...I guess we are on some of the same sites! I friend of mine that worked in a restaurant told me that's what they did, and it work - don't even have to turn them! Why not get all your food ready at once and be prepared and enjoy the rest of your day without worrying that you don't have the food to stay on plan. I am on BMR and Meat/Egg threads, read both, and something was brought up by someone about not eating enough calories, and not weighing out enough protein...so, I thought it was sort of, as much protein as we wanted/needs....oops! Maybe that's where I'm going wrong. I did good on the m/e last week for five days, gone all day yesterday, and was off plan a little last night, but did not feel good at all yesterday...sick. I
I made a lc quiche today with very light on the cream and light on the cheese...find eggs are easier for me to tolerate with variety. Although, I did scrambled eggs for breakfast every day last week. I need to keep things simple, or I mess up! Have a flank steak marinating for later today to cook on the grill... Have a good day everyone!

I've really changed how I approach protein. I find eating protein a burden. It fills me up fast. I can always find space for carbs, but protein is hard for me to manage. Now I fix a pound of fish and work all day on getting it into me, a few bites an hour over several hours. Big change for me, as I used to eat for two days on a 7.5oz can of salmon or a 6oz can of tuna mixed with mayo. One of the changes is that I am no longer adding mayo to the mix; I used to use almost equal parts of mayo to fish - calling it fishy mayo and mixing it into a bigger mound of slivered celery. All in all, I am now eating way more protein, which helps me keep carbs to <5% and which supports muscle strength (theoretically). I've seen old folks cut food intake to the point that they are malnourished and act senile while saying they are not hungry. At 64, I am eating more protein daily than ever in my life. What a change. Fish is brain food, so I hope my brain is happy. Weight should drop too, once I stop fiddling around.

thanks zer - I figured out my bmr, but, not the amount of protein...how do you do that? I will be 60 in November, went through menopause, and after my husband died, gained weight steadily up, up up!!! I do feel good, except for my weight, and the fish protein for the brain, I like that thought! When I started this I was 223, I am now 210.5...coming off slowly, but I have been a binger, and NO support whatsoever, until I found this site. I love having our daily "meetings" of the mind, throwing out ideas and maybe someone will benefit from something that another person has learned.
You are doing great! Talk later....going to the beach now... |

Morning all...I am up again today. No surprise since I ate too much, too late and too salty yesterday. All was legal, but I was just so hungry and chose to eat extra protein to deal with it. It will be off again soon since during the work week I get into my routine and am too busy to focus on food.

Good morning everyone:
Just a quick post to let you all know how it's going...I'm up almost a pound after eating very little of the supposedly low carb sloppy joes...I made 6 servings. My breakfast yesterday was coffee and a turkey frank...exercise 15 minutes of HIIT. I had to go out msot of the day so I didn't have time to eat that much...only 1 to 1 & 1/2 serving of the sloppy joe and nothing else... After I came back, at around 5 I had another 1 & half serving and nothing else, that was it for my day...had plenty of water but this morning I had gained..so I'll have to blame nothing else than the sloppy joe....just in case anyone tries it, be warned...and let me know if the same happens to you.. I'm off to start my day but didn't want to leave before congratulating Lynn on the big loss! And everyone else on plan, let's just keep eating healthier and the rest will come on it's own.. Take Care...Have a beautiful day! |

I was UP 0.2 of a pound this morning. I figure it is water since I was on plan yesterday. Will be on plan again today. Had a shake for lunch and for dinner will have either broasted chicken or a 3-egg omelet with chicken/asiago sausage chopped up and browned in it.
Lynn....Congrats on the losses lately. You are doing a great job. KUTGW... Using extra protein to manage "the hungries" is the way to go. So much smarter than carby crap!! KUTGW....you are doing SO well. The salt probably caused some water retention too. ![]() Zer...here's what I use to cook bacon. It is SO easy and since this is designed for the microwave, you don't have to heat up the house with the oven. I like mine pretty crispy. You can adjust the "doneness" of the bacon just by how long you cook it. Be sure to cover it with a paper towel so it doesn't splatter. This was invented by an 8 year old girl. You can get it at Walmart. That's where I got mine. If you don't have a Walmart in your area you can get it online. But Walmart is cheaper. Check it out at: Microwave Bacon Cooker Thanks for that protein link. Very interesting. Kim...congrats on the court thing. DON'T let him weaken your resolve. Think about YOU!! I know sometimes that's not easy, but you really MUST do it. You are the important person here. Angie...thanks for the warning on the Sloppy Joes. Won't be making any of that anytime soon. ![]() Have a good day, my friends and KUTGW....We CAN do this. ![]()

Thanks Angie and Judy!
Hi guys...feeling a little sick. I found out in a very unprofessional manner that the job and interview were pretty much all a joke and the position was always going to the current holder---an active duty person who doesn't even retire until 11/1/08. I am being told by the Office of Special Counsel that this sounds like it needs to be reported and investigated. Don't know what to do...feel numb and very used. |

Lynn - OMG - I've been reading all your comments for weeks now, and I have to say I'm so sorry, but that does not seem like enough to say....how could that be a joke? I just don't get it! Some people just make me sick. Hang in there, be strong, patient, and hopefully something good will come out of this. You are in my thoughts and prayers..
