OK Ms Drive by--what's up with you?!

kbetz--yep, I take vitamins and a few other supplements every day. Most of them I have no clue if they are doing anything for me or not, but I guess they aren't hurting anything! As far as being ignored when I was bigger--if you had asked me that at the time I think I would have said no....but looking back now, yes, I think so. I get tons more attention now and some of that has to do with me having more confidence, but some of it has nothing to do with me I don't think. I know a lot of people have said that being overweight is like being invisible.....

Dream--so how much more exercising do you want to get in and why exactly? Geesh woman, are you training for a marathon or what?? I can't imagine exercising 1/2 as much as you do. Actually, I would be quite happy with myself if I exercised that much!

kbetz--yep, I'll take the walking/exercising challenge with you, but my goal will be at least 30 minutes 6 days a week. I like the option of having one day off in case I get too busy...or more likely if I get too lazy!

Hi, girls! Jumping in to give a quick update!

I quit smoking AGAIN last week, was a bit sick just before...got over that, then TOM hit a few days ago -a vicious attack, if I may say so, very painful. I went off lowcarbing since late last week - no big deal, just eating 'normally' ---toast, or bagels, a bit of sf ice cream - and I really don't like it! My stomach complains quite a bit.

All total, I've gained between 8-10 lbs., but that was expected. Since I've not really been losing anyway,I figured it was time to try chucking the cigarettes again and not worry too much about the scale for now.

Aw, well...one thing at a time.

Catching up with the thread and glad to see that...Kbetz is getting things in order (good going', girl!), Dream is hanging in there, as is Theresa, Jen's back on track...Lisa is feeling better - all good news! Hurray!

Jen, I hope to do what you're doing...that is, avoid the scale. Tomorrow, I think I'll return to Protein Power but [after checking the damage report tomorrow am] I'll also ignore the scale for at least a week.

It'll be good to get back into the Low Carb Saddle once more!

Sorry, Kbetz! Didn't want to fall of my lowcarb pedestal with ya, hon...but I had to be honest. (Even 'super heroes' have their off days.) Don't worry, it really wasn't a carb fest but I did allow myself 'unusual' [for low-carbers, that is] carbs every day. Like I said, one day it was pizza, another day it was toast, another day it was a bagel with my eggs. I honestly don't think I did too badly, all things considered, because I didn't have a carb blow-out.

Swearing off the cigs is a bit of a challenge, especially since I did it cold turkey, during PMS time - but for some reason, I was ready. Btw, I was expecting the wt. gain (which wasn't as bad as expected). I figured I'd see a gain during that week, anyway, so I might as well get it all over and done with. But that's me - once I decide to do something, I'm all gungho!

Good thing is I dropped 2 lbs. as of this morning, so I'm back on track already. I'm giving myself the month of August for kickin' the smokin' habit and losing the 10 lbs. gained (it could have been much worse)...and I'll be happy with that.

I'm hoping that the long-term lowcarbing and my cycling is what helped negate the BIG wt. gain that quitters (smoking, that is) usually acquire...We'll see!

In the long run, it's all about health, and smoking is definitely not healthy for me, either! So, dontcha worry, hon...I have every intention of keeping my low-carb crown. It just needs a little polishing from the teeny bit of tarnish it accumulated during this past week's adventure.

Morning and Happy Friday (thank God!)!

It's a fresh new start for 7/7--who all is playing?

Miss M--good for you for quitting smoking! I hear you on the timing thing, sometimes I feel like I pick the weirdest times to make some kind of change in my life but if you feel ready then you have to go with it.

kbetz--glad you got out and enjoyed yourself. Can't wait to hear how the scale treated you this morning--hope it's great news, but even if not--there's always tomorrow!

Jeannie--you are on a great roll! Sorry you had a rough day at work but 209 and staying on plan--great job!

Dream--what are your plans for having an on plan kind of a weekend?

Jennifer--are you going to join us for this round of 7/7?

Lisa--how about you? Like kbetz said, you can pick anything you want to change or improve on and make a goal and stick with it for the next 7 days.

Hello everyone. My life is finally returning back to normal.

My daughter ended up being in the hospital THREE TIMES with pancreatitis! She is finally starting to feel better, but between being doped up from the pain meds and not being able to go anywhere or do anything but sleep and being so lonely because all of her friends are away from school for the summer, she has been so depressed! I'm sure being off of and returning back to her hormones has had a huge impact on her mood also. But I thank you all for your prayers. She has been through so much. Hopefully this last year of school will fly by and she will get a great job!

We have finally moved into our new house! It's HUGE! I'm still in shock going from a 2/2 apartment to a 4/2 house. It also has a study, so BF is working from home. I'm 30 miles from work now, but the drive is worth it because we LOVE it! It's in a gated golf community (now I need to learn to play golf). I've never had anything so nice. I can't believe it. We also got new bedroom furniture, and his sister gave us some, so we've gone from 1 queen and my daughter sleeping on the couch (when she comes) to 1 king and 2 queens. The last bedroom is my sewing/ironing/exercise room. I think we're going to get a treadmill and put in there.

I've been gone so long that it will be hard to catch up with everyone, but I must say to DMM how proud I am that you've quit smoking! What an accomplishment!

Teresa - what is 7/7?

I've been on plan during the week and cheating on the weekends still. I know I need to stop doing that. But it's always something.

Hi ladies:

I had another good LC day yesterday. I hope I've fallen back into the lc swing of things. The scale was good to me. I'm not quite down to what I was on August 1, but hopefully I will get there today or tomorrow. I, for some reason, have been retaining a ton of water. My ankles were very swollen last night which is unusual for me. I'm hoping its hormonal. I have a physical with my gyno in a few weeks at which time we always talk hormones. In the meantime I will stay away from the salty stuff.

Teresa: Congrats on another 7/7. You are a great example. I'm in for another 7/7 this week for sure. I have a mind set and don't see any obstacles in front of me this weekend. So I will stay on plan. My friend cancelled on dinner tonight so there's one obstacle out of the way. I wasn't looking forward to ordering "salad" again! Especially since I packed one for lunch. Oh and as far as the exercise goes, all I know is when I don't exercise, I don't lose period! I must continue to exercise and eat LC to make things work. Not to mention, I like to exercise. This weekend is the 14 mile bridge pedal. Never in a million years did I imagine myself being able to do it, but here I go. Yippee!

Divine: Its so good to hear from you! I'm glad you are back in the swing of things. You are such a trooper. Hang in there on the no smoking. Its all for the best.

Kbetz: Sounds like you have a great exercise plan. I met someone about your age on line and she's going to meet me at the gym Monday. I'm excited to have a gym buddy. It will insure I go. How did the scale treat you? Congrats on your 14/14 personal challenge. You are doing great!

Jeannie: Hope today is better for you. At least you stayed on plan. You have the right mindset. Let's do this!

Dream - There are plans to add 9 new holes to the golf course (how many more do they need?) and then one of the new holes will come right next to my back fence. I haven't checked out all the amenities yet, but it's really nice. Now we can "have lunch at the club"! I've always wanted to say that!

Jen - Thanks! They would control her pain in the hospital and then send her home, and she would be right back the next week. It was horrible!

We're in the 290 & Barker Cypress area. Quite a drive to the Galleria to work, but I'm still in heaven! I don't remember how to post pics. But I want to have BF take some because I want to send them to my friends and family. I'm super excited!!!

Lisa - I haven't read through all the posts yet, but how are you feeling?

Just stoping by to say we are ok. The scale was good to me this morning 271! thats 2 more pounds. ( and TOM) I think its funny how its happening. I dont have time to eat some times so I grab a bite of PB and cream cheese or I swish of heavy cream in my D DR Pepper . I started drinking 2 scoops of protein drink for breakfast. I throw a salad in some where, and nawl on some meat for dinner. When I go to bed if I feal hungry I eat a spoon of cream cheese. My goal this week was to just maintain and I have DROPED!!!

DS 2y/o saw the cardiologist today..... hmmmmm. They did the ekg and yes he is haveing droped beats where he skips. The Dr said some kids do this and then he ran the ultersound. Every thing is fine on there. The kicker to this is he had an eposide rite before leaving the house today and kept it mildly going the 50 minute drive to the hospital long enough for them to see him. They dont know why he is looseing muscle control. EEG is fine and EKG just has the droped beat. They put him on a heart monitor to track and we are now going to the endocronoligst and back to the nuroligist. They asure me that as long as he snaps back he is ok! I felt like saying snap this! Now fix him, but instead I just nodded thinking to my self.....Next please!!!! Atleast they have seen him go limp. Up untill now it was only the 2 diffrent groups of paramedics that saw it.The episode today caused him pain in his neck. He still squints his eyes and wimpers when he turns his neck. I would actually consider contacting the birth mother to see if she could give me any clues if I wasnt so darn afraid of her! It may come down to that. She didnt sign the release forms to contact her but I know where she lives.

1/7.......15/100 water down, walking down and vitamins going in now.

I'll be back around latter when I have more time to respond to every one. I did read them I am just out of time.

Penny I am doing alot better... I am still learning what works and what does not..... thanks for asking

Kbetz I have been reading on another board that your body does not absorb over 23 grams of protein at a time..... I am not sure if this is only for people that have had WLS or norman people.... so sorry you are having trouble with the doctors.... I hate it when they thing they know everything and they seem to tune out what you are saying because they know it all....

Yay--looks like just about everyone is in!

Penny--kbetz started a challenge where we work on staying on plan every day for 7 days. Each week we have been adding something extra--certain amount of water, exercise, whatever. If we do all that we committed to do, we basically get a point for the day with the goal of getting 7/7. Want to join us? I'm glad to hear that everything is turning around for the better in your life!

Jeannie--how are you today? Are you in for a round of 7/7?

kbetz--wow, I'm sorry your DS is going through this and equally sorry that you aren't getting answers. It is good that if he had to have an episode, at least they got to see it. You have got to be worried out of your mind right now though.... Congrats on the lbs flying off--that is fantastic! Good idea to plan on maintaining for the next week. It may slow down for a bit to re-adjust, but then again, who knows, it might keep melting right off!

Dream--I wish I loved exercise! I am growing to like it a bit--which is a start--but love is definitely not how I feel about it! I'm glad your weekend is obstacle free, and hope you have a good time pedaling your buns off!

Jennifer--are you going crazy yet not stepping on the scale?! Good for you for having that kind of discipline--I am still a total scale ho and not sure if that will ever go away!

Lisa--great goals and glad to hear you are home and doing better! I have actually heard some things like that about protein before too, and I don't think it was just with WLS. There is so much contradictory information out there however that I never quite know what to believe!

1/7 for me, 30 minute walk and tons of water.

Have a great night and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Lisa- I am not sure if you were telling me the thing about protein because you thought I was trying to crame it all in at once or just to share? Either way thank you. That is helpfull to know! I actually have been doing the 2 scoops for calorie and fat reasons + protein a little. The bottle gives content for 1 or 2. I do try and grab some proteins threw out the day, but I find the shake in the morning has helped keep me going this week. I had 3 apts and 1 ER visit in the last 5 days. There were days that I would not have been able to get to a real meal untill2 or 3 pm. Thank goodness for the morning shakes I had.

You gave me an idea for back up emergencys. I am trying to avoid wasting monet at fast food places. So if the body can only consume 23 grams at a time. I should get some skinny snack baggys and put a scoop full in there. I used to do this with baby formula and then all I had to do was add water when I needed a bottle.
I refuse to let my self get screwed up from lack of calories. I question that I need over 2000 calories but I also know that I probbaly do RRRRRRR! Old mind set, I guess!
Since these shakes have been going well for me I might use them a few days a week when I dont feel like making a big breakfast for my self when we start back at school work. I also plan to make the kids oat meal ahead of time. I could do HB eggs but I get sick of them and kind of enjoy the shake in place of pop.

Dream- what are you doing to avoid the nibbles this weekend?

Teresa- great job on the walk. I got my dad to go along with us for ours.
Penny Hi

I had a little make over today. Some friends of mine last night suggested getting my hair cut into a bob with layers... so I did! Its really cute and my curls are coming back. I also bought new make up and 2 new shirts on clearance at wall mart. I dont know what got into me it just felt rite! I am doing my nails when all the kids are in bed. I almost bought a new bra and undies! but I decide to wait. I didnt want to cut the grocery bill any lower.
I will be eating ground beef and eggs for meats all week in exchange but I can live with that.

kbetz has the "girly bug!" Make up, nail polish, new clothes, hair cut--you go girl, you deserve some pampering!

I think it's great that you have the whole family out walking/strolling. Good way to bond, get fresh air and exercise!

I had the munchies so bad last night! I ended up having an oz of wasabi soy sauce almonds & a mug of hot tea at almost midnight & that helped tons. That's actually a break through for me because normally I would have deprived myself ("it's too late to eat now"!) & obsessed over it, but once I had my snack the munchy monster was quiet. Listening to my body helps I'm learning, slowly but surely

I almost bought a new bra and undies! but I decide to wait. I didnt want to cut the grocery bill any lower.
I will be eating ground beef and eggs for meats all week in exchange but I can live with that.
good for you! We all need to treat ourselves sometimes.
