The purpose of the baskets will be to engage a chld for hopefully15-30 minutes while I am helping another child with a work book or something near by. Its needs to be a self directed activity that can be used with a childs creativeness. The baskets will be kept up for during "school basket time only to keep them special.
I am thinking maybe even a basket full of diffrent square wash cloth size fabrics to have them fold and sort. Hands in basket ideas home made Felt board ideas? Magnet boards letters, shapes numbers Puzzles Colored circles sort fuzzy pom, poms Laminated race track stuck in basket with 2 cars Mr. Potato head, corn head etc Basket of blocks to stack Stencils with a few crayons and paper Pattern cards with marker objects Dominos to make tracks out of Ithink I will keep extra in plastic zip bags for extra rotaion ideas, but atleast 10 at all times. That wil give each DS 1 per day. Last year was really crazy and I need los of back up plans. I cant do anything with pant, markers or clay flor messy reasons. ( they will do that with me)

I went and did a little shopping with our net rembursment check from our master school ( man I love that, I hade to pay for net either way) DH said its school money and to use it for school stuff. Sound goods to me.
Heres what I got. New class room posters wood dominos with #s on them for a basket a box shape sorter varius colored mini frogs for pattern makeing a rose art squiggle crayon. It holds 3 crayons and makes the swirl with a battery motor. 60 asorted bugs to group together and just make hop. stensils month bulitin board stuff including weather predictors large laceing buttons magnet play sets- beach, airplanes, dinos, magnetic construction trucks 2fisher price little people video that has 10 minute life lessons on them. Each one has 5 stories. Colored fuzzy pom balls some glitter and some regular. ( They will be used on a sorting color card or pattern cards. I am sure there is more but you get the point. Today is going well. I went to target and Doller tree for all the stuff. I was able to get DS meds filled . I found a whole bunch of neat activitys, stories and rhymes on the net last night. I am makeing a book today so I will be back around latter. Eating is not going well today but thats only because my mind is go crazy with ideas. The little I have eaten has been low carb. I promise to make a taco salad in a little bit. Water is good so far. |

kbetz--sounds like you did good with the shopping! The only thing I could think of was things with different textures since kids that age seem to get into that. Hope you have eaten something by now, you have to keep that metabolism going if you want to burn fat!
Lisa--so what is it about protein that you are having a hard time with? Is it the texture of the food, or how it feels in your stomach? Can you eat yogurt? Or if it's texture maybe some kind of soup where you finely grind the meat and add beans or something else for protein? I hope you figure this out soon cause you need to eat to heal--especially protein. I hope the folks on the WLS boards have some good input for you! Well, haven't had dinner quite yet so I won't claim 2/7, but I'll be back! |

![]() ![]() ![]() We're still at the beach. DH's aunt & her family didn't come down this weekend as they usually do (we inherited the house together), so we decided to stay. Neighbor agreed to feed the kitteh for a few extra days. Not 100% on plan but not bingeing. 8 times out of 10 I'm binging if I'm not on plan so that's a plus for me. We'll be home tomorrow afternoon. Talk to y'all tomorrow night or Monday. |

Jenifer- sounds Like you are haveing fun and doing ok. Great job on skiping the binges.
Teresa- I finnaly got to eat tonight, but the funny thing is I ended up eating steak and spinach. Silly me. We went to a buffet and I had 2 small steaks. During the day I had a cheese stick and spoon of pb and 1/4 of a slim jim. Oh, and 10 little peanuts. As for the textures, you gave me an idea. They make sets of texture bords that you color a paper over to make diffrent designs. My 2 youngest sons have sensory intergration disorder and that would be help for them. The vibrations would be awsome. Thanks for the idea. My FIL & MIL are supposed to be over tommarow and will bring 2 of the cusins. I wish my house was all the way done but oh well. We have been here for 20 months and dodged the bullets. He has been so sick, so we just go there. DH's one brother has been her but the other 6 sibbling have not. They all live about an hour away. I am off to do some work on the class room and ingtergrating the new found material into my lesson plans for my preschoolers. I found some great ideas last night. Tobad I was up untill 2 am reading and saveing them. ![]() 2/7 9/100 Last edited by kbetz0419 : 08-02-2008 at 07:25 PM. |

Hey Jennifer, glad the binge monster has not found you. Enjoy the rest of your stay!
kbetz--sounds like you did well eating wise. Homeschooling definitely takes a lot of effort to do well, doesn't it? My sister homeschools hers as well and I'm just amazed at all the planning and prep involved. 2/7 and way over 120 oz of water! |

Back home
The kitchen is stocked with l/c foods & I'm ready to get back to it. I've decided that August will be a no scale zone month for me. I can feel myself getting obsessed with the stupid number, so I have to step away. |

Do you think I am eating way to little or am I ok?
Today I had total of 8 shaved thin slices of salmi, 1 motz chese stick 1 heaping spoon full of pb, 1 cup of brock, 1.5 hotdogs. When I think about eating I feal sick, but I know not eating enough can cause you to stall. I feel like I could get sick any minute. I know I could use more veggy and could eat more. I just dont want to eat and then get sick. I have no hunger, and I am not trying to spare calories or carbs. I am trying to eat threw out the day to help the matabalism Last edited by kbetz0419 : 08-03-2008 at 06:46 PM. |

kbetz--I'm going to have to say that is way too little--that's about what you need to be eating at one meal, not all day. You may want to find some ways to sneak some fat in--like instead of just brocolli--have loaded broc with sour cream, cheese and bacon on top. Instead of string cheese have a hunk of cheddar. Instead of a hot dog have egg salad with a lot of mayo. Mix your p.b. with a chunk of cream cheese. You don't have to eat more meals or snack all day, but make sure when you do eat it's substantial. If you find you can't eat more or that it makes you sick, then you are not getting in enough carbs so add in some more healthy veggies or whatever type of carbs you are allowed at this point in your plan. The number one way to mess up your metabolism is undereating. If you haven't checked out the BMR thread yet, I would highly recommend it. There is a link on the first page that shows you how to figure out what your BMR is. You should never eat less than that or you are setting yourself up to slow your metabolism. That is one of the things that causes those wild fluctuations on the scale as well as long nasty stalls. Keep the fires stoked with the right amount of foods and your body will be far more willing to let go of fat. "Starve" it, and it will hold on to everything fearing it won't get enough to take care of the basics. People think the whole starvation mode thing is crazy--I suspect it's because it makes them think of starving children in 3rd world countries. But it's truly just a survival instinct our body has to protect us. So--getting off my soap box, but my vote is you need to eat more! It's a topic that I'm pretty passionate about--I messed up my metabolism years ago and I don't want to see anyone else do that.
Jennifer--glad you are back and ready to be back on track! 3/7 and I've had 120+ oz of water! |

Thanks Teresa, and you didnt give me a soap box speech.I asked for it. I thought it might be too low. I needed to hear it. I dont like to bother with fitday, but I am thinking I need to start writting down for a few days what I am eating. Not to keep it low but to keep it higher instead. I just dont seem to remember to eat. My 4 year old ( as far as we know) does not feal hungry or much of anything untill he is dangerous low. If I didnt force him to drink his resource or feed him threw a tube, he litteraly would go days and not eat. I know there nothing wrong with me but I can relate to him now. Im' not growling and I am sure that I have had nothing else. The only stomach thing happening is nausea.
I will go make a chedar onion and pepper omlet. I have 2 lts of water in for the day and am going to struggle to get some more in tonight. I almost have a feeling of panic happening tonight,I'm jittery if that makes any sence. 3/7 |

I think you are experiencing what the Kimmer folks called SNATT--"semi nauseous all the time." They thought it was a great thing, but it's actually not healthy at all. When they would get into that starving thing they would drop some weight really quick depending on how much they had to lose, but then they would stall and have to eat less and less. Those people seemed to "fall off the wagon" more than anyone and it's no wonder, they were starving and setting themselves up for eating disorders and all kinds of things. Shoot, there I go again. It's just one of those topics that gets me going! I'm going to go figure out your BMR (I think it's kind of fun to do) and I'll be right back.

Teresa- Ok so I checked out the BMR thing and I should be at 2029. I have not been eating that much and have not lost any thing in a few days.
I think what I am doing is eating to much spinach on most days. I pile spinach on a plate and put a little protein on it.. I need to go back to keeping bacon cooked in the fridge and more cream cheese and sour cream on hand. They can pack a cal. punch with out haveing to blow up my stomach. I just feel so full if I eat to much.I use to be able to eat an entire pizza my self. I made a taco salad yesterday , & after about 6 bites I gave it to DH. I am not going to call this a cheat but DH just made me 1slice of extra thick-PB toast. This should help with the sick feeling pretty quick and gave me some easy carbs. |

OK, so I calculated it at 5'7", 28 yo and 275---but if I'm wrong on one of those, let me know. Your BMR is 2035 calories per day. That is the bare minimum that your body needs at rest to take care of your organs, breathing, etc. To determine what you need beyond that you have to determine your activity level. You are a very busy person, but you said you haven't been able to exercise, so I'm going to assume you're above sedentary but below the active level so 1.35. If we take that time your calories you get 2747 calories which is what you would need to maintain your current weight. People suggest that to lose subtract 300-500 from your that number to give you a healthy weight loss range--that would be 2247 to 2447 for you. Personally, I just think it's crucial to eat at least the minimum of 2035 a day and if you want to go higher that is fine. Every 10 lbs you would want to re-calculate as it will drop your calorie needs. See--kind of fun (OK, I'm a bit of a math geek!). Does that make sense?

Opps, posting at the same time but it looks like we came up with just about the same calories so we're right on target there! Good for you--pay attention to this now before it really has an impact on you. I really believe this is the reason that a lot of people quit low carbing (and other diets). They get into the starvation mode and the scale bounces around and eventually they give up. Or--with l.c. they get into the snatt thing and there is only so long your body and mind can handle that before you will buckle--for me that would be about 2 seconds!

Ok I ate a 2 egg pepper omlet and drank another 1lt of water. Now I am going to be sick. I think I will sleep sitting up so it doesnt spill out. ha ha. It was weird, once I started eating I had an over powering fealing of SHOVE IT IN NOW!. What was that about. Thank goodness its 10 pm here and I can sleep off any future desires. I will watch tv for an hour or so before going to bed.
I must not let my self go so low ever again. I am really thinking I need to get some protein shakes in the house before school starts up again. I never had problems in the past with them. Mabe just split one up over 3 servings. Any thoughts about the protein shakes for crazy days only? Last edited by kbetz0419 : 08-03-2008 at 08:16 PM. |

Sorry I didn't get back here quick enough. I hope you don't get sick from eating tonight! I think when you find yourself under on cals I wouldn't panic but try to eat at least a little bit of protein/fat to keep your body fueled overnight. As far as the shakes, I'm not into them much but I do use them when I'm on the road. If they don't have a negative impact on you, I say go for it. One of the things with them though is that they have a lot of protein, but very little fat. If you were going to do them very often I would add a couple of tablespoons of cream or some kind of fat to them. Someone once mentioned that they would blend them with cream cheese and ice to make a great shake--that would be a good way to up the calories and fat and probably very tasty. But when on the run dumping some cream or half and half in would be much easier. Or making sure that you also grab some nuts or something else high in fat and portable to go along with the shake. Also, people say that too much protein turns into fat--I don't really know what to think about that as I'm not huge into protein so I've never really looked into that. A shake daily would not be a huge amount, but if you were going to drink several a day along with other protein you might want to research that a bit.
Have you got all your water in for the day yet? If not, I wouldn't push too much more if your stomach is already full---that might not be a good thing! |

Well I am still 275. Errrrrrrr! I know exactly! So what do I need to do about it? EAT!!! But not indulge! I still have the sick feeling thing going on and I am a littel afraid to eat. When did this happen? I have one of my faves in a crock pot. Its 3 pound of ground beef with1 can of manwitch. It cuts the carbs down to a 3rd per servng. Its about 2 carbs perserving.. I will go to the store today and get a little more stuff. I am going to make sure my water is half one by 2 pm today. eggs for breakfast with fried salomi. Ohhh why do I need to do this? I just dont fell like eating, but I will. |

Hi everyone. I have missed you guys. I have been wanting to come back, but I'm so ashamed. I have let myself get back up to 214. I have been on a downward spiral and I'm totally out of control. I don't feel good anymore and my carpal tunnel is starting to hurt again, but yet I continue to stuff my face. I am an emotional eater, and lately my emotions have been out of control. I know I need to get a grip and get back on track, but it has been so hard. I'm right back to my old way of thinking "I'll start back in the morning" and "the morning" hasn't happened yet. I work a pair of blue jeans to work on Friday that used to be very comfortable, but I was so miserable all day because they were digging into my stomach. You would think that would be motivation enough, but it wasn't I pigged out all weekend. I ate so much yesterday that I was sick last night. Honestly girls I'm a mess.
Please say a little prayer for me. I'm going to try and get back on track today. I know if I don't I will end up gaining everything back. Even though I'm still 34 pounds less than where I started I feel bigger than ever. I'll check back later. Jeannie
