It IS hard... its so different from all the years of ingrianed thinking. the proof however is in the pudding! I'd much rather lose trying to eat more than lose trying to eat less and less and less and still less...

Having fits with FitDay...

How do I curb FitDay? I keep getting hit with calories for ONE LITER of olive oil when all I want is to list an entry for ONE TBS - and I know that I can twiddle a selector to dial up TBS, but I'd like to manage my FitDay so it does not first slap me upside the head with calories for a full liter of olive oil. I've tried and discarded entries and seem to keep resurrecting ONE LITER when I select what I think is the ONE TBS item. I've muddled up all prior-day counts by my efforts to set up a list of amounts most useful to me. I feel quite inept. Any ideas?

Is this the price of using a free FitDay? Maybe so. It's frustrating.

Try adding a "custom food" with the one TBS values then adding that to your list and deleting the entry you have for the one Liter.

FitDay is still giving me fits. Maybe it's time to give it a rest. Erasing/Editing values in a rapid-fire flurry may be challenging for the program. Aspie habits are often overwhelming for ordinary vehicles. I'll try to relax a bit. Breathe.

I appreciate the support on this thread. Thanks for the tone set here. It is your kind support and the encouragement of my BMR LCFriends that gives me courage to go on in the face of stubborn weight that bounces up and down.

With 4# being a scant 1% of my total weight, it is not a big deal to this body to show a gain or loss of that amount overnight. Hard to let go of the fond hope that such a swing downward means that a handful of fat is Gone Forever. I'm trying to remember that my scale delivers simple data, and that a trend is more meaningful than a sudden surprise - up or down. Same as the perfidious stock market, where one learns to ride out abrupt spikes in either direction without giving too much weight to spilt milk or to vicissitudes of Fortune.

The important thing is to stay the course, adjusting a bit for rough weather - or programs meant to count calories/carbs - but not losing sight of the Nature of Things. Normal life pulse is up-down, as on a cardiac monitor. Flat line is not natural. Rhythm of life is up-down-up ... down...up-down-up....

I've muddled up my FitDay, so am not quite certain what my calories are, but I started off today with my WPP (20g protein, 500cal) hot slosh with about 4Tbs of clear liquid VCO. As I pour it I guestimate the Tbs flowing past me.

Here's to a happy hump-day and a wildly successful LC day today!

here you go! Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

HB's Tips:

~ I use Neufchatel Cheese instead of Cream Cheese (same carbs but less fat/calories)

~ for "liquid Splenda" ~ I use SF Torani or SF DaVinci ~
I've done French Vanilla; Chocolate; Coconut; the BEST was Almond Roca!!

~ I don't bother w/ the Vanilla ~ doesn't add anything when using SF syrups

These CCC's have saved my butt more than once when I was craving something sweet!
Just keep a batch in the freezer and pop one out whenever you need a sweet "fix"!

LC Breakfast Bowl: 900cals, 58gProtein, 5gCarb(w/2gFiber)

Someone was celebrating Hardee's LC menu... with a LC breakfast bowl:
Quote:
Originally Posted by happycat View Post

I could only eat half of it, there was so much! I looked on the website, and it has 6 carbs - so I only had 3. Just wanted to share.
I think my local Carl's has this too:
Quote:
Carl's Jr. Low Carb Breakfast Bowl (315 g)
900 Calories
73g Fat
. 875mg.Cholesterol . 2050mg.Sodium
58gProtein
660 Calories from Fat . 33gSaturated Fat
5gCarbohydrates with 2gDietary Fiber 2gSugar
Source: FoodFacts.info
And here's a description, with a 2004 price cited that may not still ring true, inflation being what it is today:
Quote:
Carl's Jr. is taking their low carb menu into breakfast territory. The popularity of the low carb Six Dollar Burger at the fast food restaurant has prompted the company to now feature the low carb Breakfast Bowl.

The bunless Six Dollar Burger, with six grams of carbohydrates, currently accounts for one-third of sales in their Six Dollar Burger line.

The new Breakfast Bowl boasts only five grams of carbohydrates. Not only that, but it is the first low carb breakfast item to be added to a fast food chain menu.

The Breakfast Bowl contains two scrambled eggs, a sausage patty, a slice of Swiss cheese, and a "Loaded Omelet" made with sausage, crumbled bacon, diced ham, and cheddar cheese. The dish is then topped with more crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese and served in a 20 oz. plastic bowl. The bowl costs $2.99.[2004 price]
I am now paying close to $4 for Carl's $6 burger (with a 10% senior discount), so my guess is that the breakfast bowl costs more now. But I'll sure take a look next time I'm up and out and hungry! Good cue, to ask for no salt added, as the sausage is salty enough as is.

I ate a lot of pineapple and cheese yesterday and I more than likely ate over my BMR. I was told since I'm close to my TOM to relax and just jump back on the wagon. Oh, and to make sure I tell DB to hide the goodies from now on. (Out of sight, out of mind!)

HB - That looks like you are doing it EXACTLY right. perfect induction level carbs and eating to your BMR. Way to go! I can't wait to see how this pans out for you...

Lora, I too had a little eating episode last night. Please remind me NOT to buy spinach dip from Trader Joe's ever again. I planned on eating 1/4 cup of it. Its nothing major but I ended up eating more like 3/4 of a cup. rolled in salami. I owned it and added it to my totals for yesterday and I ended up eating 35 g of carbs (!!!!! at least I know its all spinach !!!!!) and 2500 calories. its alot! i was still in very very good ketosis this morning so the spinach doesnt seem to have hurt. Its just one of those things. Don't beat yourself up, you're still doing great!

Zer, fitday can be frustrating. I checked out the olive oil in there. Just go to the search box and type in olive oil, then click the link that comes up. It takes you to a screen where you type the number of servings in the box and then there is a drop down menu on the right. move the drop down menu down from liter, right below it is tablespoon as a choice. select tablespoon then click the add to foods eaten button.

I'm starting to consider buying my coconut oil by the gallon!

Been buying my coconut oil by the pint (or so) but am now going through the jars so fast that I think maybe it's time to start buying bigger pots of this remarkable fat. Storage is an issue, so maybe I'll delay buying bigger, but maybe I can re-use my smaller jar as a handy access, as I dip from larger vat of coconut oil. Got to do some pricing. Meanwhile, I'm still ordering 20oz jars from Netrition and scooping or pouring (depending on ambient temp) my daily fat into the morning's hot slosh (WPP). Sure satisfies for hours and hours!

I, too have been buying by the pint. But yesterday I ordered 53 oz from netrition. Can't wait til it gets here as the Netrition brand is SO much tastier than the kind I've been buying at the market. YUM!!!!

I've tried two brands from Netrition: Nutiva Organic EVirgin Coconut Oil (15oz) and NOW Certified Organic VCO (20oz) - both are cold pressed, unrefined. I'm not sure how I slid from Nutiva to NOW, but I never went back once I changed. Maybe it's the black jar that NOW uses. I'm not sure. I think I like a bit of coconut scent/flavor in my coconut oil. Some don't like that. Anyway, I shall be looking for a larger size when next I order from Netrition.

If you feel you're eating as much as you can, you could consider adding PP to something you already drink/eat? maybe TJ's spinach dip?

Or use it in an EC. That's what I do. And I just had a good discussion w/ 2Big re: Jay Robb's PP on a Main Lobby Thread. Jay Robb's is a good choice (100% whey protein isolate as opposed to a blend or concentrate) - but probably need to count 2.5 carbs per scoop rather than the 1 carb indicated on the label as the macros are 6 calories short...

maybe you can just add the PP to the mayo & coconut oil - I would reccomend the Pina Colada flavor for that - YUM!

HB

congrats on the 4# Zer! that's fantastic!

besides FitDay, there is also thedailyplate.com, it is also free. at times you have to scrutinize the data, there are mistakes - but it works for me!

Ilpirata! I have a present for you! This sounds awesome to me!
I think I'll try making it with the ingredients I already have on hand:
Cream Cheese + Pina Colada flavor PP + Coconut Oil + Coconut SF Torani syrup (gotta go get the good flaked coconut) - YUM!

I so appreciate being kept in the loop. I think this would be interesting (I just made this up as I'm typing so bear with me) (LOL)

Take 8 ounces cream cheese at room temp.
Mix with a scoop of vanilla PP and 2-4 Tbsp davincis pina colada flavor (to taste).

Form into small balls.

Roll in flaked real coconut (the good stuff, not that crappy crap crap they sell covered in powdered sugar).

Chill.

Does that sound ok?

OMG, I don't post in here for a few days and you guys go all X-rated on me

Just peeking in to say . Still doing well, eating up to BMR, but finding it harder some days than others. Scale is not moving. (I know, I know, patience!)
