I have decided to try the Eat Fat Get Thin protocols on Protein... I'm going to aim for around 80 g a day broken up equally across my daily meals. This is a reduction from the 100g a day I've been eating. I'm also going to make sure I eat 30-40 g of carbs a day. Target 10% not the 5-6% I've been getting. The Macros for EFGT are DIFFERENT from what I've been doing for the past nine months and I'm ready to try something new. I will of course still be eating to my BMR... absolute base 1700 cals.

Woke up with gratitude, glad that I held firm and did sardines when I was not quite motivated to stick to my plan late yesterday. Wanted to skip eating or go for nuts, not my best plan but one that attracts me. I woke up grateful for this forum and for the reports from folks who stick to their guns - even with holiday events to work around and compensate for. So good to hear how often anyone balances a mis-step by adjusting a plan to see if more calories or more carbs will show a better result than cutting back on calories and carbs. Tweaking is how we each discover what works for OUR body, OUR metabolism. My new tweak is to sprinkle some cayenne into my sardines in olive oil. Zips 'em up!
Thank you all, for sharing your ups and your downs, your good days and dim days - the downers that challenge us all with carby temptations and slips as we live in a world that offers food at every turn and every social occasion. AGH! Here's to a successful close on December and to a fresh start in January! Yay! |

I think I may need to eat fewer calories. I'm going to stick with the BMR eating for another month or so. I'm getting a Curves membership for Christmas and would like to try BMR eating plus exercise plus my Armour before I totally give up.
The thing is that I just don't lose and I know it is the Hypo. If I don't lose even with the exercise, BMR and Armour then I'm going to have to start eating fewer calories and see what that does. |

This has been a great great thread and I've gotten to know alot of you on here. The truth for me though is that I am no longer losing eating this many calories on a daily basis and it is not acceptable to me. |

I suspect that my body likes a 48hr cycle, such as an alternate-day plan offers. Some days, eating seems just too too filling. I speculate that I'd do well to eat light every other day, then push protein on the alternate date. Just feels good to me, to lay off cramming protein into me day after day after day. Just saying....

I'm down to a new low.
I lost a pound. This is HUGE for me because I haven't seen a new low low on the scale in LITERALLY MONTHS! So, so far the Alternate Day Diet is producing results. The low calorie days have been ridiculously easy (I heart you ketosis). I'll keep you posted!

Just a note to say that I may be out of touch for a while. Not sure what I'll do, but I need to address a pulled whatchamacallit that renders my right arm, my good right arm, not so good at helping me get around. Popped or strained a muscle and have a hot spot now - at or about lower ribs on right back. OUCH!
I'm thinking ER for me, when D(home helper) arrives at 8:30am today (Friday). Dunno. Might call HMO advice nurse, a little later on, for guidance on this. ER will bring about some exploration and discovery of other issues, I'm sure, and I am hopeful to get some treatment that helps me. Anyway, bye for now. No idea when I shall be online, as I cannot really manage at home like this - and I doubt I shall have computer access away from my cozy bed. Sigh. |

Lucky for me I could not fit myself into caregiver's car this morning. Lucky also that when I called HMO's hospital I was told that my case did not warrant an ambulance. Lucky also that the transportation service the hospital referred me to, saying that I'd have to pay for transport from home to hospital ER, was not staffed today. I left a msg indicating that I was told by HMO that I could hire a lift. Then I called HMO's Advice Nurse to see why I was refused an ambulance by a staff person at the HMO hospital when an Advice Nurse had told me to see an MD for sure - at office or at ER. Took me a while to get to an Advice Nurse, but he laughed and told me he could have an ambulance pick me up within the hour. Not a problem. He said the screener at the hospital failed to see my plight as a "medical necessity" - not having transport of my own, not fitting into caregiver's capacious car. I was worn out by the time I was talking to him, so I begged off the ambulance he said he could have bring me to ER - said my caregiver was gone and would be back Monday and I might avail myself of ambulance then - and thanked him for setting me straight on the value of allowing HMO's Advice Nurse to set up ambulance. Now I know! Good to find out how to have an ambulance sent, so that I can get one in a pinch. Today was exhausting, all the phone calls and being screened and told I was not in urgent need of transportation. All of that is wearing. Now I know better who to call, who can arrange an ambulance. RNs at HMO Advice Nurse number have helped me out before. I do not think to call as often as I ought to. Got to remember that is an option, a good place to look for response!
Caregiver speaks well of the chiro who has offered to come to me at home. He has used laser on her for pain relief. She likes and trusts him. I called and left a msg that he will get on Monday, asking if he can start treatment. My ignorance is no reason for me to avoid laser-for-pain treatments. I do not want drugs that compromise my weary organs. I will try chiro. I must. And I shall work on small flexes as a way of strengthening legs that USED to work right. Shall also work on lifting feet, as preparation for getting them into a car that requires a lift-bend-twist-pull action that my legs cannot do. Maybe caregiver and I shall spend time working on getting into my car, still parked in the lot and waiting for me to regain courage to drive it. Got my sticker so car is registered and legal on the road. Hope to get my new driver's license by early Feb. b'day - which means I must fit into a car to get to the nearby DMV and will probably avail myself of the courtesy of an appt that is offered to disabled drivers. All I must do is an eye test. No driving test or written test. I had expected both. All I must do is appear, read an eye chart, give a thumbprint and have a new photo made. I can do this, with the assistance of my caregiver and with some effort at getting myself into and out of a car. I bet I can manage my own car, with some effort and some loss of inches as I work my LC plan more effectively. Had a lovely gift of 3 soft-boiled eggs at noon Friday - and had the good sense to hand back the 2pcs of dry toast that came with the eggs. I just explained that I will not lose an ounce if I eat flour/sugar. Oh, those eggs were good, even without toast to wipe up the golden yolks that ran so rich. Them I just licked up. Can't waste a bit of such golden rich yolks! Yum! Just had an avocado for a bedtime snack. Not up to a tin of sardines. Tum is just a bit touchy from 24hrs of painful adaptation to using my right arm in a way that is less likely to cause SHRIEKING as spasms clutch my right side of ribs/back. Sure takes my mind off the muscle spasms of my left groin/hip that seems mild in comparison to this fresh injury to my aching bod! OUCH! Anyway, I'm still here, still browsing in search of inspiration. I need y'all! It's Saturday, weigh day. I shall weigh and record data later on today. It's just data. It's just data, just a record of how my body handles the food that I've fed it during the past week. Not all good choices. Sigh...not all as good as the decision I made at noon Friday when I declined toast and ate eggs without toast to mop up yummy yolks. But I did all right. Light on food and faithful in making sufficient trips to the loo to build my confidence in my ability to manage that activity. Still hurts, to raise myself using right arm, but I see no other choice. How else can I rise? Just have to use that arm, suffer the pain. I am making a better choince in lowering myself as I use right arm to help knee flex as I avoid a hard landing, a tree-topple landing. Yeah, I can use my arm more sensibly than I did 24hrs ago, when I ripped a muscle by using more arm than leg to lower my mass to sit atop the loo. TMI? Yeah, probably. It's late. Time for me to catch some zzz. G'night, all! Last edited by Zer; 12-27-2008 at 02:07 AM.. |

Zer, Zer, Zer! I'm so distressed to hear about your latest difficulties -- PLEASE don't hesitate to share with us here if it gives you a much-needed safe space to vent (or even shriek, for that matter).
![]() I so wish there were something I could do for you or offer you that would ease your distress -- so frustrated with this "cyberspace" where folks who seem close enough to be neighbors are not. ![]() Please PM me if you think of any assistance I can provide from a distance. ![]() |

The support that I find in cyberspace is amazingly warm and tangible to me.
Distance seems not so important, as we reach out and touch minds and souls. Each treasured friend online is an encouragement to me, to look for friends in those who are within reach. I am learning online the value of real support. Thank you, all who reach out and let me know that you hear me. Thank you! Last edited by Zer; 12-27-2008 at 08:58 AM.. |

How often I write through tears of gratitude at LCFriends. Weeping now. Got to find a hanky, as salty tears trickle to my lips. I taste salt. I feel such joy!
Oh, stuffy nose. Got to blow. Where's that tissue? (honk) I'm so grateful I found my way to LCFriends. Oddly I found my way here about a year ago, when I was cast out of a LC forum where an assortment of grumbly folk found me so distressing that they convinced the owner to discard me. Funny how grateful I am to be shut of that ungracious list, for being cast out of that fellowship forced me to figure out how THIS list works. So it goes, that life's adverse twists bring a blessing that we cannot imagine. I'm finally losing weight that was not coming off while I tried to find acceptance on that other LC list. I'm blessed to be here at LCFriends! Last edited by Zer; 12-27-2008 at 09:09 AM.. |

What can I say. Some folks got riled up and I still don't know why or what! But being Aspie, I know that I am often viewed as alien - and some folks think that means they have to put me in my place. Well, this clique decided that my place was OUT of their cliquish LC "support" group. Still puzzles me. Go figure.
Just saying, really weird stuff happens - and often it works out better than we could have imagined. I felt battered and bruised, as you can imagine, being dumped and treated like toxic waste by the list owner who had apparently been told a bunch of stuff that led him to believe I retaliated or did bad stuff. Mostly I just put difficult folks on my IGNORE list. Anyway, look how good it was for me - after such a traumatic event a year ago. Some folks from that list still contact me, now and then. I think there was a LOT of stuff said that I never knew about, as some folks defended me and questioned the list owner. But in the end, he felt I was not good for his list. And he owned the list and was making a living from it, so ... any list owner has a right to weed out problem folks. I do that on a few lists that I started and am neglecting right now. I am not tending to groups of people I met and collected years ago. I am now doing little but LC lists. List owners do NOT have an easy job, balancing a list! LOL that's hilarious! My Mom believes that Vick's is the Remedy for EVERYTHING (so did Hubby's Grandma) ~ and we were JUST having that conversation the other day! Pretty cosmic, eh?
![]() Ya know, it's a hard thing to accept that "not everyone likes us" (believe me, as a Gemini, I am very almost overly sensitive to this fact of life, too! )But, hey, it's THEIR LOSS to not benefit from you witty & wonderful wisdom! ![]() CTFLC = Crack The Fat Loss Code (by Wendy Chant) |

Thanks for the support for Vicks as a remedy for whatEVER ails us!
I just peeked at the Crack the Fat Loss Code thread. Do you think it's for massive folks or best used by those whittling away just a few pounds? I'll read some, but it looks as if the weights are mostly not massive folks. I just wonder..... Last edited by Zer; 12-28-2008 at 11:31 PM.. |
