OK - only 2 more days to the end of the month & i've still got 3 more pounds to meet my monthly goal of 10 lbs per month. Time to get starting eating if I'm going to make it.
There's worse fates than that!

Lots of credit goes to the LCFriends who are patient with me as I struggle.

Reporting data and summing up pounds GONE really keeps me conscious of my goal and SEEMS to help me avoid "forgetting myself" as I face temptation. Yay!

I have a BMR of 1554, and H-B of 1864, so does that mean I aim for calories in between those two numbers??

Does the HB include -300 calories for weight loss? If so then yes you would aim somewhere in those numbers with the MAIN point being to never ever ever eat below the 1554 number per day.

How many calories have you been eating per day lately?

No, the HB was without any subtractions.

I've probably been averaging 1800+ calories per day.

For the past 3 days I've been trying meat/eggs, to get myself into kesosis, as I have been stalled for 5 months now (mostly my own fault for too many cheats).

I just want to NOT feel hungry so often

But if I'm getting too many calories, I'm going to have to drop back into strict induction levels, with less meat, and add my tossed salads back in.

I've only lost 28 pounds in just over a year, and still have at least 30 to go.

A few thoughts...

The main purpose of this thread is not to limit calories - as in - eat below a certain number. The main purpose of this thread is to make sure that we are consistently eating enough calories to keep our bodies fueled and metabolisms fired. We look at the BMR calculation more as a number to never go below.

I COMPLETELY understand your frustration at being stalled for so long. I have been there. More than once.

Have you been religiously tracking your food into fitday? This is always where I start when I realize I'm stalled. A week of strict tracking will give you an accurate picture of exactly where you are with your calories, carbs and other ratios/macros of fat etc.

If you are hungry alot you probably are NOT in very deep ketosis. Three days of meat/eggs should have gotten you way into not hungry ketosis territory. You are still really hungry even doing meat/eggs?

Have you had a complete and thorough thyroid check? Turns out thyroid was MY problem and caused my extended stalls.

How old are you?

yes. yes i do.
I believe so because I have tried SO MANY things to break them. Meat and eggs, no dairy, no nuts, low calorie, higher calorie etc.

Its only two weeks on the meds and I am down five pounds since I started them...however NOT down to a new low low. I was 207.5 this morning which is a number I've seen before. Its my low for the last two months. It takes quite some time to get the dosing right on thyroid meds. Its not an overnight fix but I know I will get it right at some point and lose the rest of this weight.

Hi everyone,

I thought I would give this a shot so here are my calculations. Hopefully I did this right.

My BMR: 1719.95
My HB: 2364.93125
Substract 300 = 2064.93125

So my range should be between 1700 and 2000 calories a day. I hope I did this right.

Btw, I don't have much time to sift through the many posts in this thread because I'm at work but I was wondering if anyone can PM me with their progress so far while sticking to these numbers? I only suggest PM so that the posts aren't repetitious within the thread unless you don't mind rehashing. ^^; I have been stuck between 205 and 208 and I need the scale to budge...or something.

TGIF & Happy Hallowe'en, LC wienies...

Nearly 9am and I am on track for today. Feeling feisty. Some pain, but who has no pain? By 8am I'd already set up a Monday visit for Dora (a home helper I met through a slipshod agency 4mos ago and who has agreed that we two can do better on our own than with agency neglect - so we waited the 3mos our contracts specify for NO CONTACT, and now we are free to do biz). Monday morn we shall contract for a schedule that will fit her busy life and help me be more of an active (if slow) person. I'd like to see her 2days a week, to start off, for a half day that makes it worth HER while to leave home to give me 4hrs at a time. She seems to have a clientele already that ask half days of her. I'm hoping she has a couple of mornings a week for me. That's a good start in setting a schedule.

And my personal chef (leaving for AZ on 11/3) thinks that MAYBE she can still send me the LC biscuits or muffins based on almond meal and eggwhites, as they should travel all right from AZ in 2 or 3 days. Probably best by USPS, as UPS boxes arrive too hot from sitting all day in dark brown trucks. Dumb of UPS, to use dark brown on top of their trucks, when a light color might deflect the heat. I've opened UPS pkgs that were so hot inside that I'm sure the product was damaged. Oven hot!

Plan for me is to not go online until I have started my pills and breakfast, so that I am better balanced as far as healing my body. Somehow I lose hours browing online, so I shall just have to wait to sign on, until I am fed/pilled.

Just read an article in AARP, about how our body CAN heal itself if we provide adequate nutrition, sleep and (ugh) exercise. Physiatrist Julie Silver, MD, writes about her specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation - and I am off to see if a site shows a physiatrist in my area that I can work with, even as I work with a NDoc (and maybe her son, a chiro who does laser treatments for pain mgmt) and follow Dr.Atkins' LC plan to reduce inflammation (as well as reduce size). The site? AAPMR dot org - American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation - lists physiatrists.

Found one, a few blocks from me! Just left a msg on what sounds like the good doctor's own answer machine. His voice. Wish me luck in locating someone nearby who can work with me on this!

What has changed? I think it is the running tally of POUNDS GONE that gets me to thinking about the value of sticking with my LC program. All my eating is a mindless stuffing of random carbs - never anything really good. Just random. If I wait until month's end to tote up POUNDS GONE, I leave myself vulnerable to "forgetting" myself as I pass by carby temptations. But when I carry a figure of POUNDS GONE, I seem better able to REMEMBER that I want - really WANT - to weigh less each day than I did the day before. I think that's why this past month was better for me. Cannot say for sure that what the NDoc has me on has NOT contributed. The magnesium pills are likely helping me eliminate more regularly, which feels right to me.

Been tracking, doing the math, thinking daily of POUNDS GONE - or ounces gone. I'll settle for ounces, any day of the week! Try the reporting of weight, with a total for POUNDS GONE that week, that month. It snowballs, gains momentum.

Retroworx, thanks for the good thoughts, the energy. I did call a local physiatrist Friday, left a msg on his answering machine, asking to be seen. Physiatrist is an MD who is a believer in the body healing itself and in rehabilitation and it all sounds healthy to me, from the article I read in AARP's recent magazine. My social worker says she's heard of it, but does not think that our HMO Kaiser has any physiatrists on staff. Maybe I can get referred outside of Kaiser to see someone. If not, I'll find the cash. I'm worth it. I am!

Bless your heart, Renee! Someday I hope I truly SHALL be under 290# - as your fingers slipped a "2" in place of a "3". For now, I'm glad to report I'm under 390...and under 380...now aiming to work my way through the 370s to find myself in the 360s - possibly by Dec.1? Let's hope so!

And if tracking in a positive light is what it takes, then I say GENIUS to you for coming up with it. I like to think of myself in light of pounds/oz lost.

It happened!

It happened! I got on the scale yesterday to find an alltime new LOW LOW of 205.5!!!! I'm beside myself with glee. I think its about three months since I saw anything lower than 207.5... with many numbers above that including 213 the day I started my thyroid meds on 10/15.

I have NOT been doing anything different other than taking the Armour Thyroid. Still eating about the same types of foods in the BMR calorie area with identical ish Macros. Its the meds. I'm so stoked.
