Hello all, I just skimmed thru the posts and I am wondering if we put in our goal weight instead of our current weight to get the BMR for our GW, will the calories we need be more exact to what we need to lose weight?? I hope I did not confuse anyone.
I have heard of this idea but it is NOT the one that we use. We eat to BMR for our current weight. I've eaten alot less and it stopped working so...

New BMR thread, supports eating up to BMR!

Read all about it here!

OP is in good shape, works out, surprised that eating more is whittling weight away even on her trim body - so I am encouraged to push on, to work for more concentrated protein as I press on to eat up to my own BMR:2423cals and to get to my 182gProtein daily target too! Water? Still aiming for 128oz daily, in spite of dire warnings from water-phobic alarmists who abound. I am pretty sure that my whole body functions better when I keep myself well-hydrated.

That sucks!
The only thing that jumps out at me is your carbs.
I'm such a sissy I never eat over 30 - and 30 is ALOT for me.
Do you lose well eating betwen 40 and 50?
It just makes me wonder if you may be out of ketosis.
Of course if thats a good carb level for you thats not the answer...

Bleah! IDK about the carbs. . .I've been subtracting fiber, so that puts my numbers in the low-30's or less. Also, lately I've been doing more of my carbs from veggies than from things like cream and cream cheese, so I thought I was making a smart move with that.

Not. So. Much.

I guess I'm gonna go without the Fawn shake tomorrow and do more of a meat/egg/fat day in case I'm lacking in the ketosis department. Thanks for the input, Kisha!!!

Just a tip about the Fawn shake-she has posted many times she is in maintenance and this probably isn't great for dropping weight. It is a healthy addition to your diet-maybe wait till you are closer to your goal. I have read many posts from those who start the shake and their weight loss stops. Just a thought.

OK here is how it shook out for me yesterday:

Cal 1498
Carb 12

BMR 1608

Missed my BMR by a bit but will work on coming up to that number today. Seems I want to either fall short or blow wildly by it leaving it way behind in the dust.

I'm not sure what's working and why, but I'm down to 265/266.

I have been bad about logging my food every single day, but I pretty much eat the same so I do know that I'm eating to my resting BMR.

I had a few off plan treats, but usually relating to having exercised my patooty off.

I have made a habit of adding CO to my coffee. And I snack on sunflower seeds (roasted and salted, mmmm).

And voila, my 3-4 week stall resulted in a woosh and in the last week and a half I'm down 5-6 lbs.

I'm truly hoping that by my anniversary date (the day I started this journey with the gym was 7/17/07), I will be down 60+ lbs. That means I have one more month to lose 5-6 more pounds). It could happen.

CONFESSION:

I totally fell off my BMR. It started Friday. Then I let it run Saturday and Sunday. Its that CRAPPY OLD THINKING. Of course I'll lose weight if I eat way less...

WRONG! I've been up to 214 for two solid days now. When will I learn? I am so back and can't slide AT ALL on the tracking and can't let one low cal day turn into a three day weekend worth! I'm fairly confident I'll go right back down as soon as my eating goes back up. In the spirit of honesty though i had to get that particular truth off my chest!

jerseygirl: yay! congrats

ragtopwife: same thing happens to me. either i am way under, or coming up on it at warp speed. i haven't gone way over, but some days its like no more food today

i am still stalled. this is approaching 6 months now. i'm so frustrated i could just cry. i've hit my bmr every day. this weekend i was a TAD over, but no more than 100 calories.

in related (although i'm not sure how) news, i've been RAVENOUS the past few days. even my s.o. has noticed that i've been saying "man, i'm HUNGRY" more often and asked me what in the world was up with me.

which reminds me, this eating to my bmr has required planning on my part. as i mentioned, i either can't seem to make it no matter what i do, or i'm raiding my fridge for low calorie low carb snacks because i'm walking the line. so, the other day i was preparing my snacks to bring to work when my s.o. asks "what are you doing?" as i sliced my berries, i said "getting my food ready for work tomorrow." the reply? "why? is there a party?" cracked me UP.

so, for those now seeing a bump up when you eat less...i take it that made you a believer, huh!

When people comment on my loss, they usually interject about changing my eating habits and restriction and I comment, "Actually, I learned I wasn't eating enough."

Dead silence.

The sad part was I was a believer already! Silly me. Guess I'll keep butting my head against this same wall until I get some consistency with this. It really does take more effort and planning than eating LESS. Its worth it though!

Ok, it's with shame that I post today's numbers. I'm going through some scary medical issues right now and I'm fighting binging. Tonight I had TOO much dreamfields.

2244
Fat: 150 1354 61%
Sat: 52 464 21%
Poly: 26 232 10%
Mono: 60 539 24%
Carbs: 133 442 20%
Fiber: 23 0 0%
Protein: 109 438 20%
Alcohol: 0 0 0%

Now, carbs are artificially elevated, since I had 2...yes 2, servings of pasta, I can subtract 74g plus the 23g of fiber, so it's really more like 36g ...

Still tough day.

I am a binger too, and it's hard to stay on track. I can be "good" all day and then..it just hits me and I ruin the whole day. I love this thread and the food addiction thread as I am trying to heal myself to make life saving changes. I have not had the time to record all my food each day, it is sort of hit and miss. I need to find the time, for myself, to do this. With 2 jobs, and mentoring and kids of my own, my day is gone before I know it. But, I am sure we are all very busy and I admire those of you who do this.

Here's my numbers from yesterday. I had to ballpark alot of things since they brought in a taco bar at work. Obviously, I didn't eat the tacos but I had to eyeball the grilled vegetables and meats.

Total: cals-2131
Fat: grams-175 1575 percent-74%
Sat: 84 754 36%
Poly: 22 200 9%
Mono: 56 505 24%
Carbs: grams-32 88 percent-4%
Fiber: 10 0 0%
Protein: grams-114 454 percent-21%
Alcohol: 0 0 0%

For me that is a bit high on carbs but overall I'm happy with the macros. Still up this morning but I ate dinner at like midnight last night because I was out late. Onwards and Forward!

Here are my stats from yesterday, I still didnt hit 2523 but I got the coc. oil now so maybe some that will add some extra cals for me to hit it. My carbs too are a lil higher than I anticipated but I guess it goes along with the BMR eating.

I really think we're both OK on the carbs. I essentially do Atkins 72 though so I don't subtract for the fiber typically. If we subtract the fiber out, I'm at 22g and you're at 25g. Both of those numbers should be totally fine for ketosis right?

Also wanted to ask if you'v used the coconut oil yet? I LOVE mine. I've been on it for a coupla months now. I love it in my hot tea with a bit of heavy cream and also love adding a T or 2 to an eggcream. YUM!

Funny you asked about the coconut oil I had some in my coffee today 3tbs, I want to see how that works too and seems to help me out when reaching my BMR. I brought it to work so its right there.

I have had them here and there, but started having them regularly every morning since last week. Not today or yesterday, though. I really think I'm going to play with the recipe some and try to add it back in, though. The veggie carbs are good, and it's so filling and tasty. This morning I made a coffee egg cream to take to work instead of the fawn shake. . .not the same.

Today, most of my carbs are coming from the whole avocado I've eaten over the course of the day. It's also ALL of my fiber thus far, too. I only need a light dinner. . .not sure what that's going to be yet.

WCBL. . .
