Big Yapper!!!!

I have been slammed against the wall. My mom and I decided to close our business and we have been busy as heck.
We are having a huge sale and it has been crazy. Neither one of us is sad about it. My mom will be 65 soon and she is sick of retail hours. I don't want to do it without her b/c she is the heart of the operation. I'm actually excited by the possibilities ahead of me. I don't know what they are yet but a little giddy just the same. On the diet front....well, y'all know me! |

Sarah, that must be so exciting! And scary. A whole new start doing something new. I hate change and stayed in a job i hated for 4 years thinking, 'better the devil you know'. I only left because i left the country. Are you thinking of doing something similar or a complete change?
I am up 1lb today after doing L4L yesterday. I will give it a month to decide if it works. It is hard to eat so often and so much salad and fruit when i'm still in the mind set of the less the better. At least the extra fiber will help my bowel problem. |

Immediately Toni, I will be taking over all the building duites. Paying bills, collecting rent, unplugging toilets!!!!
My mom is completely freeing herself. I figure I will ride this out for the summer. It does not require full time hours so I will enjoy the summer. In the fall I may get a part time job, maybe school? I just don't know. |

Happy Memorial Weekend! Toni, do you have a first long holiday weekend of the summer? It's suppose to be the beginning of summer for us - but it has been in the 40s the last few days! Not exactly summer weather! But the weekend is suppose to get progressively warmer and be in the low 70s by Monday!
I'm the same - been so good - just can't believe that I haven't had a huge woosh of something!! I'd like to go part time at some point - however, think that I would end up being at home and cleaning - and I can do that at night NOW! So might as well work!

Back down the 1lb, its up 1 down 1, up 2 down 1, talk about yoyo. I've been eating more food and carbs, i'm a bit nervous how it will effect me but i'm going to give it a while before i panic.
I'm still doing my nightly 30 minute walk and its pretty brisk trying to keep up with DH! Even if the scale isn't moving maybe i'm toning and getting smaller. I've noticed that walking outside is harder than the treadmill. I don't know when the next long holiday weekend is, we have one in august but there might be one before that. It feels like summer here already. |

No change, i can't believe i only lost the first few days and nothing for 2 weeks. I took my measurements yesterday so i will re-do them in a week or two to see if i am really stalling or if my body is changing.
Maybe i should cut out all the fiber i'm taking, i'll be back to having bowel problems but i might lose better. Take a look at todays menu and tell me where i'm going wrong. Breakfast, shake with green veg, berries, 1/2 tablespoon peanut butter, 1/2 cup yogurt, inulin (fiber) chia seeds (fiber), sweetener and xanthum gum (more fiber!) I have half of that for B. then the other half for a snack. Lunch, salad with little of cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, 1/4 avocado, bacon crumbles, 1/4 chicken breast, fetta cheese and low fat dressing. Plum Snack, yogurt with strawberries and flax meal (fiber). Dinner, same as lunch without the fruit. Herb tea and one coffee with LF milk. When i see it written down its a lot of fiber but i'm still struggling to 'go', i'm lucky if i manage every other day. Maybe i should cut out all the fiber and add more fat to keep things well greased. ![]() I'm trying to stick to healthy food thus the mostly raw food. |

I'm up 1lb today, aarrggghhhh!!! Life used to be so easy, go on a diet and lose weight, go off the diet and gain. Now i lose and gain while on plan.
I had some shrimp with asparagus today, maybe more fish is the answer but i don't like fish. |

Toni - I have no clue on your meals. Are you doing LFL again, I can't remember? It doesn't look like you are over doing it. The only suggestion I have is to stop weighing daily so the one up one down thing doesn't drive you mad.

Yes i'm doing L4L, since my sister was diagnosed with cancer i'm more concerned about my health so i think the extra fruit (not too much) and veg would be better for me. I wouldn't be so obsessed with the daily fluctuations if i was losing on a weekly basis but i haven't lost anything in 2.5 weeks. I know its not a long time but it makes me think i'm doing something wrong, i don't want to wait 6 months to 'give it a chance' then decide i need to change something kwim?
Still the same today and i had some bread, being frustrated doesn't help my willpower. |

Well i'm up 6lbs from the extra carbs i had yesterday, that proves i wasn't over doing it on the carbs before. I didn't go crazy and eat all day like i normally would after going off plan. I had a sandwich for lunch, a few fries with mixed grill for dinner and some toast with breakfast. Just shows how much water those carbs hold onto.
DH says i'm not losing because i'm not exercising (apart from the brisk walking). I know it would help but i just feel too heavy to do anything energetic. |

Well that is no good Toni. I know how you feel. I had a hard time dragging my rear out of bed this morning. I have flaked on the exercise this past week b/c we were so busy at work that I never sat down and was just tired.
I am also in the throes (sp) of quitting smoking. I'm taking Chantix. I am on day 4 and can still smoke if I want but this friday will be the official no more. You take the pill for a week before you officially quit. It has seemed to take the urge/desire away. So, I wonder if I'm kidding myself trying to do so much at one time. I figure quitting smoking is #1. Diet will be #2 and then exercise is #3. |

Sarah, well done on the giving up smoking, thats a great way to improve your health. Having never smoked i've no idea how long it takes going without until you no longer crave them. I hope it doesn't make you turn to food to cover the need to have something in your mouth. One day at a time.

I need to get back on my TM, its been quite a while. The beach walks are good but i could do with some incline and change in speed. Not a good day food wise, i had a lot going on and grabbed what i found. I'll be back in control tomorrow.

Chocolate, bread and potatoes!!! I'm switching to your WOE!
Although those are three things that I actually don't really miss. Unless it was some sort of chocolate cheesecake or whipped cream type of dessert! I was here yesterday, must not have had anything to post or got busy and forgot to submit!! I'm hovering about 150 - can't seem to get under that stupid mark. Today I feel 175! Just feel fat for some reason and cranky about the fact that the scale won't budge. I got it in my mind last week that I was starting fresh - pretending to be totally new to this, and just trying to lose 15 pounds. So I've still been eating HB eggs, lots of lettuce and meat. But I still don't think that I've gotten back into ketosis at all like I used to be. So maybe that's a problem. I just swear that I should be able to do this and still lose! I just don't really want to learn another WOE! ![]() We had freeze warnings this morning and snow showers over the weekend - spring will never get here and just stay here. In two weeks it is suppose to be summer! 29 this morning with frost on my car. Brrr! |

Juli, it seems strange to think of you wrapped up warm and cold, its well and truly summer here and i'm not in swimsuit condition as usual. Did you see the thread about eating to your BMR (they have a challange) a lot of them were eating too few calories and started losing when they added more food. Do you check your numbers?
We are really different, you have stuck to plan through thick and thin even without any results, if i don't lose for a week i change something or plans. Not that it does much good, nothing seems to work these day, i just hope its a temporary glitch. I stuck to plan today, lets hope it makes a difference. |

Tomorrow is DDay on the smoking. I didn't have any all day or night yesterday. I freaked a bit this a.m. thinking that today is the last legal day that I'm allowed to smoke. So, I had one. It wasn't all that great either.
Yesterday, I think it was easy b/c i ate crap instead. I have got to stop that. I woke this morning so depressed about my weight. |

We were the first thread today -Puppy was just here and gone!
DH got the prescription and thought that he'd try the Chantix again - but the bag still appeared to be closed on Tuesday morning. He was going to start on Monday! I don't think that he tried too hard last time he did it - pretty expensive little experiment. He quit for almost 6 months last year using the Commit lozenges - don't know why he doesn't try that again - but heck, I guess he is at least thinking about quitting again! ![]() I actually ran across a BMR calculator earlier this week - didn't see that particular thread though. The calculator said that my BMR is around 1400 - and I shouldn't eat less than 500 calories below that to lose weight. So I should be shooting between 900-1000 - which about par I guess - was hoping for thousands more!!! ![]() |

Juli, are you sure that was the final number? The BMR only accounts for basic needs to survive, you add more depending on your activity level, even sedentary would use a few hundred. Mine was 1500-1800 to lose weight. Its not a one size fits all anyway.
I was down 1lb today, not much considering i used to lose 5lbs a day after carbing up. It seems that everytime i eat off plan, one item or a complete splurge i never lose the whole amount. I have major sugar cravings today, TOM must be due, i should write it down, i never know when my last one was. Sarah, good luck on the first day smoke free. |

Back up a pound today! Looks like i'm back to my up and down routine and the weight just seems to be piling on. I tried some clothes on today and i look like a barrel.
I'm thinking of doing a VLCD for a few days to get some fat off, i have to stop this constant gaining before i end up where i started. I'm going to my sisters at the end of June for 11 days so that will be ideal to keep my eating under control with no having to cook for other people. (She is off to New Zealand and Thailand) I am away for the weekend and invited out to dinner so i will have even more temptation to face. |
