Let's Lose 5~*~May 5 - 11~*~

Is it Monday already?

Good morning, fivers!

Had gorgeous weather all weekend and, yes, I rode my bike. Went 16 miles over the course of both days. Also took Spike for a walk both days, so I stayed pretty active and that's my goal!

This will be a short week for me. I leave Thursday morning to go to my mom's and won't return home until the following Tuesday. I'm looking forward to spending time with her and my brother.

Patty - I know you are looking forward to seeing your mother. Is your brother still living with her? We had a beautiful weekend here too. Now it is pouring rain.

I didn't cheat all weekend and the scale is gradually moving down (in .2 increments). Friday, Jim and I went downtown to ride the MetroRail. He worked for the city when the rail was first installed (and he hated it). We had a wonderful lunch downtown then planned to go to the zoo. After walking to the entrance, we realized that neither of us were wearing good walking shoes so decided to wait until another day. Humidity was at 85%! Yesterday I was pulling weeds and pulled something in my back. I'm taking muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatory but still in pain. I was up and down all night long. When the pain gets bad, I get the dry heaves which makes the pain worse. I managed to make it to work (45 minutes late) but not sure if I will make it through the day. I hate this!

Oh no Karen!!!! I'm so sorry you hurt your back
Wtg on the loss!

patty glad you got to enjoy the weekend on your bike. Is your mom doing better now? That's great that you'll get a nice long weekend with her and your brother!

I felt like a bum most of the weekend...all I got done was staining my front deck.

I woke up with a migraine and haven't been able to shake it yet...too much crap going on at work I think contributing

Hi

We had nice weather this weekend also - did nothing to really enjoy it, but still nice to have. I helped my mom with her business web page. Never done anything much like this so I'm hoping it works for her (it's better than what this other chick set up for her though). She specializes in the hard-to-find - odd sized underwear, bras, snuggies, flour sack towels etc. Check out her site: Home.

Lost 3.5 last week and only regained 1 over the weekend. Pretty good, for me. At 143!

Karen - ouch, take it easy!
Kim - all you got done was staining the front deck! You truly are a bum.
Patty - 16 miles, you amaze me!

Busy Monday and some County issues to get through. Have a good day all,
Renee

lol renea you should have seen the list I had PLANNED to do LOL

Scott emailed me and said they are going to have a big wedding reception back home this summer and he wants me to come. Now I need to drop a tonne of weight, because of course, his new wife is gorgeous. And once again, I'll pretend I'm not totally bummed out, but I am totally happy for him.

I picked up the nordic track last night and we went and looked at the weider home gym friday after work..and it totally rocks! It is brand new and awesome! allen was giddy with excitement. He wants me to show him how to lift weights. Which I told him he can do some of...with light weights, as I'm not a big proponent of heavy lifting in kids prior to skeletal maturity

At least you had a list! I think I picked up the living room slightly and that was it!

Congrats on the equipment. I have a dusty Nordic Track sitting in the basement. At least Allen has an interest - that's a start.

Monday again already! I have a busy week, several meetings, a couple of them big ones. Plus this is PMS week and I'm feeling it. It just gets worse the older I get. But I'm in my "take every Friday off" phase of the year so it'll be a short week. I will need that day by Friday.

Renee, good job on the website.

Kim, are you planning on attending the wedding reception? It might be good closure for you. And I KNOW it will be great motivation to get off the weight you're wanting to lose. I know seeing someone from my past always keeps me on the straight and narrowl. Nice score on the equipment!

Patty, nice that you had pretty weather. That makes the weekend so much better, doesn't it? (of course I dig a rainy Sunday better than just about anything) GUESS WHAT I DID! Grant and I drove out to the greenspace (a walking/hiking/running/biking/horse trail about 8 miles from our house) on Saturday and walked. I loved it! It wasn't boring, it was gorgeous, and once you get into the trail, past the open space, it is cool and shady because it is completely covered by towering canopy oaks, sweet gums and hickory trees (sun peeking through but no heat at all). It's like being in the forest. In spite of the fact that I don't *like* the forest, or nature in general (love the flora, hate the fauna), I had a great time. FINALLY some activity I enjoyed!

Karen, your weekend sounds great and congratulations on not cheating and seeing a loss. I cheated ALL weekend. I fully intended to get myself back on track Thursday, didn't happen, okay then Friday, nope, Saturday? no, we ate lunch out after we walked , Sunday was another bust. But I am back today, had two egg yolks for breakfast (which kind of made me sick ), tuna salad on lettuce "cups" for lunch, I'll have a slice of cheese for snack then probably just protein for dinner. I'm going to Memphis for work two weeks from today and I want to be at least 10 pounds down. All my work clothes are uncomfortably tight (again ).

I think Celeste returns tomorrow? Can't wait to hear about her trip and see pics.

Do I ever miss that nice Palm Springs weather! At least it's not raining today, though. We had a great time ... hung around the pool a lot, played tennis, went on a hike up the mountain trail, went to the art museum, went to the Living Desert, had a couple dinners with my aunt ... very nice trip for all of us. Yesterday I took Mom to a Degas exhibit at the Portland museum.

Sorry about the back, Karen ... I do that once in a while and HATE it! ... takes so long to feel 100% again!

Web page looks very professional, Renee!

Sounds like a great walk, Susana!

Glad you're getting all that bike time in Patty ... have a great time at your mom's ... weather should be nice down that way.

Must get going on losing ... got Alice's graduation coming up and then our cruise. Have to get into my fancy dresses for the cruise! And not too snugly!

gosh I can;t beleive Alice is graduating!! It seems like just months ago that she was making the big move across country to start college.

Susana - hoping that his date coincides with my trip home end of July. That's cool about the walking area!

Thanks for the comments on the web page. Because it was originally designed through Office Live, it has it's limitations. I would be a bit more creative with it, if I could............or I just haven't figured out all the details since I spent less than an hour working on it. It, at least, represents more of what my mom wanted vs. what this other lady was doing with it.

Feel free to share this with others!

Susan - it's cinco de Mayo so of course we had to go to the Mexican restaurant for lunch. I got nachos which is better than what I could have had. What I really wanted was a margarita, but I didn't dare.

Linda - glad you had a good time. I can't believe Alice is already graduating! I don't think you are the oldest of the group (unless you are over 56).

Kim - I hope his date DOES coincide with your trip. Seeing him (and others) should give you the needed willpower to get those pounds off. Great news about the equipment you got! All I could think of last night (while I was in pain) was that I won't be able to get my exercise in. But right now I can't lift my arm to scratch my nose without spasms grabbing me so I'm sure not going to touch any weights.

Renee - Glad your scales are cooperating.

Karen - Yes, my brother is still living with mom. I'm glad it's worked out that way because I'd be worried sick about her being all alone if he wasn't there. Sorry about your back! Hope you're doing much better and will heal quickly.

Kim - Yes, mom's doing better; thanks for asking. She still tires easily and has to take a nap every day, but she's been through a lot the past several years. Maybe seeing Scott again and attending the reception will bring closure and the motivation to drop those pounds. I know how much he meant to you. Enjoy the exercise equipment!

Renee - That is a nice website! I've never heard of a flour sack towel.

Susan - Good for you on the walking and glad you enjoyed it! See, that wasn't so bad, was it? I LOVE places like that with nice trails.

Linda - Welcome back! Glad you had a good trip. Wow, Alice is graduating already?! It seems like she just started college!

That is probably why my mom sells them as one of the "hard to find items." They are often used for needlepoint. They are somewhat thin and large. Not sure how else to describe them.

You can order some from my mom to find out what they are though!

Grant and I walked around the neighborhood for 45 minutes after work last night. What's gotten into me?!

Patty, I'm glad you'll get to spend time with your mom this week. Will you get to take walks on the beach? I love the beach, it's the "go to place" in my mind when I'm stressed out.

Karen, ack, sorry about your back. I hope it feels a lot better today. If it doesn't you need to stay home and take care of it! They can do without you for one day!

Linda, sounds like a nice time with the family. We've got great weather except the thermometer is threatening to hit the big nine oh for a few days. Ooh, I bet the Degas exhibit was awesome. I love his work. I'm also surprised it's graduation time for Alice! Doesn't seem possible.

Renee, my grandmother used to use flour sack towels. I think they are (or were) literally the cloth sacks flour used to come in then cut and sewn into a dish towel.

Kim, I hope it works out where you can go to the reception but if not then you will at least have an excuse to see him (to give him a wedding gift).

Gotta' run get ready. Meeting at 9:30 that I'm going straight to instead of going into the office (opposite direction of where I need to be) so I'm dragging my feet.

Susan - I would definitely stay home from work if I wasn't going to be out next week. I have less pain today. Not sure if it is because it is getting better or that I've learned not to move certain ways. I'm impressed that you are out there walking. What has gotten into you?

Linda - Okay, you beat me. I will be 56 on my next birthday and have a daughter that will be 35 on hers. Only time I've wanted to age faster is so I can retire.

Renee - I remember flour sack dish towels! I can't open the site from work but will try to rememeber to check it out tonight when I get home.

Patty - so glad your mom is doing better AND that your brother is there to help her. Health issues are hard enough any time but especially when you get older.

Kim - Good morning! So did you and Allen work out last night?

Scale up this morning but I'm sure it is from the luncheon nachos. I went home and climbed in the recliner with the heating pad. Never thought about how I would get out of that dang chair!

Way to go! Remember, walking is GOOD for the soul!

I'll try and do some walking on the beach...it'll no doubt be crowded though. We'll see.

Karen - I love nachos and haven't had them in ages! Is your back better today?

Took the dog for a walk yesterday evening. We are having a beautiful spring!

DBF checked under the hood of my car and my tires to make sure everything is okay before I hit the road on Thursday. One of my tires (front passenger side) has a thin nail in it, thus a slow leak. He noticed right away how low the tire was, but I never paid attention to it and my car wasn't handling any different on the road, so how would I know anything was wrong? I probably would've had a blowout eventually. Anyway, he's going to get it fixed for me this evening.

awww Patty that is awful sweet of him!

Karen nope we had scouts last night and then I had to come home and mow the lawn and water the sod since yard waste pick-up is today. I need to find a moving company to move the gym from her house to mine. It is quite big! I'll re-assemble the nordic track tonight after work. I've just been sooooo tired the last couple of weeks

Hi - maintaining today, the 143. Thats ok, I guess.

Have to get a bunch of little things done today. I took off on Friday, assuming that I'll have to write my final paper due the 11th. If I can knock out some stuff today, I could potentially begin writing it today at work.

I have one teacher though, , she's new and we are quickly realizing that she is probably a hypocondriac - (I did spell check on Word and that came up right on there - oh well). She has tiny puss marks on her throat and OMG, "I have strep or scarlet fever or................I have a temperature, I'm sure.....blah, blah, blah!" Then walking around like the walking dead when OUR OWN NURSE doesn't think it's anything.

Oh well, another joy of my job. Later ladies, Renee

Renee - I had an employee call me yesterday requesting a sick day. I told him I hoped he got to feeling better and he said "oh I'm not sick, I just wanted to use one of my quarterly sick days". Dumb a**! He doesn't get sick days, he's salaried!

Kim - wow! Sounds like you scored better than I realized.

Patty - I think you've got a keeper! Jim is so good to me in that way too and I sure don't take it for granted.

Down the 2+1/2 I found on vacation.

Today is our "anniversary of going together" ... 41 years (I think). I have aquarium class this afternoon, though, so not sure we will do anything special.

That's great you're getting the tire fixed, Patty ... sure you feel better about the trip.

Keep walking, Susana! I'm going out in a few minutes. Cloudy today but at least not as windy.

So what's your paper on, Renee?

Do you have a heating pad for your back, Karen? That's what I use.

Kim, I need to email you ... I think I have your addy.

Maybe will get some desert pix up later ...

Kim - Wow! You will have no excuse for not getting the exercise done now!

Linda - I used ice the first 24 hours then switched over to heat. I had my heating pad cord completely wrapped around my chair by the end of the day yesterday. I read "dessert" pics at first and was getting excited. Of course desert pics are exciting too.

Well, since it's due the 11th, I should figure that one out soon. Just Kidding, it's an assigned topic. I have to research 4 - 5 personality tests/leadership test; take the tests; discuss my results as to how accurate I feel they are; compare them to each other and then correlate it all to my field of Early Childhood Education. Fun, fun, fun!

No sitting around DF's house tonight, drinking, as usual.........will be hanging out in the van working on my paper during Taekwondo.
