ah, that was nice. maybe I'll have energy to get through the run and enjoy the rest of the day after, LOL
I really don't want to run. I had planned on walking with the slowest walker and letting my highschool helpers enjoy the day how they wanted to. BUT, my co coach really thinks I should run and come in toward the front of our team so I'm at the finish line as the rest cross. she has a point too, lol. just not sure how much I can run. eh, I'm afraid if I choose to try to run with the faster team members I won't be able to keep up and I really want to stick with kids from my team.

stews, sorry you don't feel like running.* Just remind youself over and over again it's not really "running" but doing something you actually love.* Make it a mind thing minute by minute
(as if I'm a good one to offer suggestions or advice ) |

I'm sure I'll enjoy it with the girls. just not sure how fast I want to push myself when my lungs aren't 100% yet. plus I have a headache (that will probably go away.)
I really do think that once we meet up with the girls and see their excitement I'll be ok (well the excitement might not hit until they get over to the stadium, it's early for them too, lol), listen to the founder of the organization speak (she spoke a little last night at the party and this is going to be amazing). they have bands from a high school there to play. some of the school mascots, starbucks was making a sign with EVERY girl's name on it. starbucks was also having employees there to do face painting for the kids that want it. they will have pastries and coffee for all of us that want them too. each team will have a flag in their school colors and the teams will take 1 lap around the track carrying their flag before heading out the stadium for the rest of the course. (think olympics procession, lol). they have volunteers all along the course to point them in the right direction and cheer them on. |

Hi Girls, well I finally turned on my air last night. It was 85 degrees in our house and Henry was burning up. I was comfortable myself, but I let him. It is just the opposite for me now. I use to get real hot and he was real cold, but since I cut the carbs out during the day, I get cold easy.

It took me a few tries to find the right one for me, Sunabee, but for my work laptop, I got a wheeled luggage type briefcase.
I had a super nice leather one that was really ME, but it was heavy and with my back issues, I had to eventually change to the wheeled type for work, despite it not being so "pretty". Now, my personal one, I just toss it in a nice tote bag that's fairly light, but not meant for laptops (because I don't have to carry other stuff with it) and DH uses my old leather one when we go on vacation because it can slide right on top of the luggage.

Baby, I can't help you on this. I don't have a laptop. I would love to have one though, but Henry says I don't need one, since my computer is in the living room. I said well I could watch T.V. then and talk to my Wit's at the same time, but I don't think he went for it...

I'm back. we met at the school at 7 a.m. EVERY one of my middle school girls grades 6-8 SHOWED up (one was almost too late. we were signing each other's shirts and then gonna head out when I looked up and saw her!). even 2 girls that have not made it to any of our practices in 3 weeks showed up. I have been nagging them this past week to finish up with us!
so, we start out and the plan was for me to run towards the front with our team (wasn't gonna run with the fastest cause I know I can't keep up with at least 1 of them and mabye not 2 or 3 of them). My highschool helpers were going to stay back and walk with some of the slower ones. but the gun went off and away the team ran away, lol. we left the gate and I had to stop and make sure that the 2 girls that had parents that were going to walk with them met up with eachother. so, I got them together with their parents then I ran ahead to catch up to others on my team. caught up to one group walked for a few minutes with them then spotted a couple more of our girls ahead so I ran up until I caught up with them. we ran/walked for awhile and then my two 8th graders caught up with us. I told them all at that point that whoever decides to run I'm going ahead with them so that I could cross the finish line and then see most of the team come across and help put medals on them just after they crossed. I think 3 of my team came in ahead of us and then I ran in with 1 of the 8th graders. watched most of the rest come through and then when 1 of the girls that went with her mom came in I took the victory lap around the track with her (she was by herself at that point). the whole team then waited for the last one to come in (this girl has been a challenge the whole time. when she came in we all cheered then joined her on her victory lap. she led us around the track and we finished it up together ALL of us except the coach that couldn't do the walk because of having surgery a few weeks ago. she stayed back with a camera to take our picture but pointed us out to the newspaper photographer and told him that we all had already crossed the line but joined the last one to finish up together cheering her on. it was SO cool. the girl struggled and complained on almost all our walks and she RAN part of this 5k. I watched her running down the street towards the stadium (she'd left her mom behind to finish up) then she came in, we walked a little of the track while she caught her breath and then she ran the last 1/2 the track or so to finish! OH, and before the ceremonies our team did our cheer we made up for the founder (Molly Barker) of the "Girls on the run" organization. she started the program in North Carolina and came all this way to join us! she liked our cheer so much she asked us to do it for EVERYONE during the opening ceremonies! here is our cheer. (each line is done with a leader and then the team echoing it until the last line when we ALL yell it together at once). Self Confidence is what we Teach Love yourself that's what we preach Trust yourself, don't look back WE are GIRLS ON TRACK! anyway, I was a very happy coach to get 100% participation of the 9 girls we had left on the team (we started with 13. 2 got kicked off becuase of behavior. 1 moved and 1 more quit). Randy took the day off for me in case I needed help. He took some pictures for me and then helped out on the course (also taking some pictures then too as we passed him). dd17 was a volunteer on the course helping to direct runners in the right direction and cheer them on. |
