Thanks for starting the thread TIO! Thanks for all of the compliments for Meg.
tio, you're so close to goal, you should have no problem getting there in May. Dak, that is so cute about Hinsa. I guess if Meg was a counter surfer I'd have to put a door on the kitchen. lil miss, maybe when the baby's a few years older you'll think about a lab. If you do, make sure you look for English breed, not American. The English are shorter and stockier and from what I've read, they're much calmer. If Meg was any calmer she'd be asleep ![]() I was planning on walking Meg tonight but I'm really tired. I think I'll go to bed early. I'm cooking cabbage and am going to make a cabbage/shrimp stir fry for tomorrow. That sounds healthy.

Hey all
So, May is it. It is now or nevah! So far so good. I have decided to train for a half marathon. I think I might be nuts! I am scared but excited. I think I would feel such a great feeling of accomplishment if I can do this! Kritter- I always lose really well with cabbage! Da*n TIO, you are doing GREAT! I cannot believe you will hit goal SOON! Hi Adi! Hi Dak! |

Go TIO - you can make goal this month. I have faith. Now me ever making goal is up in the air.
lilmiss - Wow. A marathon. You go girl. You can do it. You are young. kritter - Hope you aren't getting sick and just worked too hard. Hi Dak. I have a vacancy at work and have been interviewing. Strange how I can pick up on an applicant's hidden agenda by just listening. At least I can figure out who I do NOT want to hire. Off to feed Squeakie. |

Mornin All
I'll come work for ya Adi! I miss having something else in my life besides the kids. Thats one reason I want to do this marathon, it gives me something thats mine, something that does NOT involve the kids/family, yanno? Had a couple of grueling emotional days here. Step FIL who is an alcoholic is now in situation where he has no tolerance and is making himself really sick, so 2 days in a row MIL rushed home from work to find him passed out and bleeding from falling and had to call 911. He is finally admitted somewhere for detox. She is naturally very upset, and we have had to encourage her she is doing the right thing which of course we believe whole heartedly, but the whole situation just stinks, especially bc we know it will be a very long road to recovery.... Anyway, I ate out lunch and dinner on Thursday as a result and gained 3.5 lbs overnight so that was nice <sarcasm> Only down 1/2 lb of that 3.5 today and it ticks me off! My ketosticks are moderate..

Oh lil miss, I'm so sorry about your FIL. What a nightmare for all involved. I totally understand what you mean about wanting something that's yours. You need to identify yourself as something other than wife and mommy! I think everyone needs that. Working on a half-marathon is a GREAT idea! It will make training so much more fun to have a goal like that. Have you picked which 1/2 marathon? Are you shooting for something this coming fall?
Adi, good luck hiring someone. The new person my boss hired is kind of annoying and I think my boss regrets her decision. I know I do The woman has a tendancy to want to talk a lot and me and my other coworker are not big gabbers. This morning my friend and I went to Topper's spa for massages, then went to lunch. Then I went on a shopping spree at King of Prussia mall. I actually found pants that fit me and are comfortable so I got them in 2 colors, and I found shoes in cream which I've been looking for for ages. |

kritter - Hiring someone is very hard to do. I get so fe applicants since we are rural it is hard to find someone good that fits in. We are just now starting to work as a team. I have some concerns about one applicant so I hope the next interview is the one. Sometimes I am lucky and the one that is causing problems quits and I can replace. One did one didn't. Oh well. Luck of the draw I guess.
lilmiss - I will hire you long distance. When can you start? We won't need you until August. You run and I make soap. Same thing. We need something that is just us and not tied to other people. Hi Dak and TIO. Real windy here and cold to me. DH and I planted some tomatoes, peppers and zuchinni in cardboard boxes filled with potting soil. Our ground is just too hard to try to make a garden in the back yard and I didn't have enough big pots so we used something that will decompose. KInd of our experiment.

Mornin' All
Well, today my baby is 2! We will be having my neighbors over for pizza and Elmo cupcakes Am also ordering some wings, and will make a big salad. He is very definitely a terrible two... It makes me sad to realize I have essentially lost NO weight since his birth. I need to get this done y'all. I have boot camp today. Ugh. I am skeered. |

lil miss, what's boot camp? Is that something at the gym? I can't believe Ben's 2! Time goes so fast. Even if you haven't lost any weight, you must have lost fat and added tons of muscle so you should feel proud of that accomplishment!
How are you training for the marathon? Do you have a plan to follow? I have to commend you for not going insane with the baby's party. You guys will all have a great time and the Terrible Two-year old won't even remember it next week . Adi, I was strong-armed into hiring someone in my last job. She was competent, but her personality actually drove another programmer to leave after I left. She nice, but talks incessantly about stupid stuff. Unfortunately, HR didn't seem to understand that personality is as important as skills. Great idea about using cardboard boxes. Where will you put the boxes? I heading out to Tyler park with Meg. Lots of hills there. Hopefully we'll be able to walk for a few hours. Then I have to come home and clean and do laundry. We have someone coming on Thursday to get an estimate on windows and siding and the house is a wreck. I'd also like to paint the master bedroom next weekend so if I have time, I'll get the walls prepped today. |

WOW kritter, I am exhausted just hearing your plans! Where's Tyler park? I dont know that one...
Boot Camp is at my gym and we do an hour long workout of strength training moves with cardio intervals - sprint on treadmill as fast as you can for 1 minute right after you do 50 squats! Last week was the first one, and the trainer was lamenting that she couldnt make us go outside and do lunges/sprints etc [it was raining] Today is HOT. Yikes! I have found a few training schedule on line, it's interesting how you train... You dont run every day and you only do one long run a week... Gotta run, DH has to do the lawn so I have to manage Mr. Ben... |

LM- Awww your baby is 2!!! How was the party? Boot camp sounds like a killer but i'm sure you'll do just fine. Though you have not met your goal, i'm sure with all the work outs you do you have increased you strength and abilities. WOW i marathon, RUN LM RUN!!! adi-It is hard to find the right person to hire, but ususally it is easy to pick out the ones you dont want. Hey Kritter and DAK |

TIO - how right you are. I have such a shallow applicant pool it is real hard to find someone I want to put up with. Easy to decide who NOT to hire. At my interview Friday, I felt like I was being interviewed rather than the other way around. Excuse me. Me boss. You employee. I will not hire that one.I could see red flags everywhere.
O.K. guys. I put DH on Atkins yesterday and the only way that will work is if I do it too. So today is day 2 of Atkins. One egg for breakfast. Tuna salad with HB egg and mayo for lunch. I did well today and DH promised me all he ate was what I sent with him. We shall see, lilmiss - Cannot believe Ben is laready 2. Doesn't time fly. Gee I can't belief my DS is 18. kritter - I am also tired reading what you have planned. I guess I am getting old. Hi DAK Off to rustle up an Atkins dinner. DH ate what I left in the frig for him. GOod boy. So far. He and BIL went to see their Mother yesterday and she recognized my DH but wanted to know who BIL was. Now that has to be heart breaking for your mother to recognize your brother but not you. |

Adi, I cant wait to hear how DH does! I am happy you are doing atkins again, I guess I just like the company!
What foods do you need to avoid again? [not for atkins, I mean YOU for the water retention etc]I am sore from I dont know what. Sunday did boot camp, then ran for 30 minutes yesterday and then did weights at the gym, tuckered out. So today I went to the gym and did AN HOUR on the dreadmill. I walked 3 minutes, ran 1 minute, lather, rinse, repeat. I have never done anything for an hour so I am very proud of myself. I only did 4.5 miles [I warmed up for 5 minutes or so on a lower speed] so I am not sure WHO I think I am signing up to RUN a half marathon!?!?! OY VEYBACK on plan after some elmo icing and some melty ice cream found its way into my mouth on Sunday night. I am pleased I hopped right back on. No harm, no foul. Weight went up 4 lbs from the sodium etc and 3 have already come back off, so I am not going to beat msyelf up about it. Where's Dak? My portulaca are blooming! Very excited. I love how they open in the suna nd then close when the sun goes down at night. So cute. We planted tomatoes in the topsy turvy that DH saw on an infomercial, they are growing but I guess you have to wait 60 days for fruit???? |

That's impressive. If you keep up that pace of running/walking the marathon should be easy. I've seen those flowers before, what colors do you have? Adi- Its good to have a buddy in your weight loss. Glad DH is sticking to it so far. I'm sure your BIL was hurt by that. ![]() Kritter- you have alot of home improvement going on at your place. Whew Hey Dak!!

Hi guys,
tio, from reading the boards, thos last 10 pounds are the hardest and slowest. Be patient missy! lil miss, Tyler Park is in Newtown in Bucks County. It's right next to Bucks County Community College. It's very hilly so it provides a great workout. And it's beautiful because the paths pass horse barns with turkeys, roosters and chickens(and horses) and then there are corn fields and some old farm houses. It's such a beautiful place to walk. You'll get to the 1/2 marathon, just be patient. You guys are making me want to get out there and plant something. But I can barely keep up with cleaning the house. Adi, that's so sad about your MIL. I keep waiting for that to happen with my FIL. He doesn't remember his grandkids but so far he remembers his wife and children. How will your DH manage Atkins with BIL living there? Will BIL tempt him with non-atkins stuff? I don't know what to do. I have been having such problems with IBS. Yesterday I was on the toilet all day and then today I was constipated all day. I'm not sure if I just can't tolerate soy and grains. I didn't have this problem when I ate meat and did Atkins. |

Hey Guys,
I'm here, just not much good to say about staying on plan til the last few days. I used to be such a self disciplined person, it's a very slippery slope. Kritter, strange about the IBS, it's both soy and all grains? The more I hear about soy, the more I want to stay away from it. Edamame, is mainly imported from China and apparently is grown in really bad conditions, (heavy metals in the soil) not to mention, being a fresh vegetable that's shipped half way around the world. It used to be my fav snack at Japanese restaurants. Lil Miss, a marathon, wow! What a great challenge! So that's swimming, running & biking? I love it! TIO, those last pounds aren't easy, but they will come off! Adi, good luck with Atkins! Does your BIL fend for himself with meals? Gotta go to work, have a great one everyone! |

Dak - BIL fends for himself most of the time. I refuse to cook for extra people. I cook and oput it in the frig. My family eats what they want, when they want.
kritter - DH should be able to stay on Atkins with BIL around EXCEPT for beer. lilmiss - I had been eating low salt so I ballooned up 5 pounds when I started Atkins but I was back to my start weight this morning so now hopefully I should start seeing a loss. Took 6 days to drop the extra water weight but at least my feet are normal today. I just need to keep drinking the water. It is so hard for me. TIO- DOn't have any idea what would be the best way to reach goal. Like that is not something I have experienced although I did get down to 144 one year following Lean for Life for the last 6 weeks. Stayed there until fall and then started putting on a few winter pounds and I have been fighting the winter pounds every since. I want to share my newest soap. ![]() On the left is plain been soap and on the right is egg in ur beer soap. Homegrown eggs from my geriatric chicken. I made it for a Maifest that I have a booth at this weekend and next weekend. Hope I sell out. I did the label in German. |

Adi, what a fun idea for specialty soaps! I gotta ask, what do they smell like?
What a great conversation stopper. I'm doing well, taking baby steps at staying on plan. I got my confirmation from France, I'm definitely in, so it's now or never. DH & I are taking a mini spa vacation at the beginning of next month, so a even closer goal to work towards. |

hey all! only down a lil bit this week.
Kritter- I need to be more patient but its hard at this point cuz i know i'm close(well sort of) I just wish i knew EXACTLY how to get rid of them and keep it all off!! SOrry about the IBS problems- Maybe you should switch back to Atkins or try some different grains. I'm not a big soy eater ( only soy milk of occasion) but i hear it does a number on some people. Dak- It takes all i have at this point not to just throw in the towel. Some days i just dont have the fight in me that i used to when it comes to food. I havent buckled yet but gosh i'm close. Funny enough what i want is legal for the most part. PB Choc Chip Cookies!!!! I made them last Sunday and froze them!! That and LC ice cream! Adi-Soap from Beer that's intersting! WOW 6 days, that's patient. I would of freaked out before then. I'm trying to avoid gaining lbs back after working so hard. Its good that BEER will be his only issue. And if worse comes to worse there ar LC beers. Hey LM- How's our Marathon hopeful!! |

Dak - The beer smells sweet to me. I guess that is from all of the sugar in the beer. I did not use a fragrance. It is supposed to be a mild, high lathering soap. France is getting closer. You are going to love it. Enjoy your mini spa weekend.
TIO - I knew I would gain since I was low salting so I expected it. I bounced up 5 and then each day it came down a little so I was cool with that. I have no portion control with LC ice cream or the regular kind either. kritter - Hi lilmiss - Hi I was going to make revolution rolls last night but made a one minute muffin instead but I really need to make the rev rolls. |

Good morning buddies!
So, I'm doing better than I have been with staying on plan. Now if I can just say that for the next 3 months, I'll be fine. Adi, your soap sounds great, I love the way that you experiment, I could see some local beer breweries loving that! Especially the high lather part, like the foam on beer. Wouldn't be the same with wine soap, I don't think. Your DS lost his iphone?!? So sorry to hear that... do you think someone might have stolen it? TIO, how are you with portion control? I think that's the art of eating off plan, to just have a taste of something. Wish I was better at it. Just giving myself a sliver of something, but instead I start feeling entitled. Easier, in a way, to just never have something off plan. |

Dak, how exciting about France! And a mini spa vacation sounds lovely. Will you just stay overnight at the spa? What kind of treatments will you get? My friend and I got massages at a spa last weekend. I could get so used to that! I'm really thinking of treating myself to a facial soon because I've loved every one I've ever had.
adi, what a cool idea for soap! They might make a great seller for Father's Day ![]() tio, what is tempting you to buckle? Sweets, breads, pastas, everything? My big temptation is chips. Hi lil miss! We got the price for siding and all new windows. It comes in at $20k! OMG I had no idea it would be that expensive. I've been primarily eating chicken for 2 days and so far so good. Tomorrow I'm going to get salad stuff. Hopfully that won't cause any "issues". |

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the Mothers and Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers.!!!!!!!!!!!
Morning all. Not going to church. I woke up with a massive all over my head headache and my eyes are almost swollen shut. I DID NOT eat festival food yesterday, just bought some unsweetened tea and a diet coke (fountain drink). WHo knows, it was so hot and humid and I was sweating all day so you would have thought I would have dropped a pound but I gained two. I am sure it is water retention but my head. Ouch. Show was slow but I finally reached the amount that I consider an average day for a festival. Too much work though in setting up and tearing down. I prefer main street setups rather than parks. Easier to get in and out. I won't go back to that one. TOO HARD. Today is another day and I plan on having fish today. I found a couple of big bags of shrimp in the freezer. Surely I can drop the water weight with shrimp. I even think I have some frozen cooked chicken too. Off to do chores, slowly and rest up from yesterday. BIL went to visit friends > It is so quiet. Nice. |

O.K. I think I figured out the headache and now I am sick at my stomach. I am just now experiencing carb withdrawal. I only had sausage, cheese and hamburger patties yesterday. And I was eating very high carb before last Saturday. This too shall pass.
