adi, I adore rosemary. That is one of my favorite scents(and flavors) along with basil. When I buy them, I have to use all of my willpower to not sniff them contantly while I'm shopping.

Wouldn't that be great if he got a job driving a truck and was gone for long periods.

Well I went off the deep end today. When I got home from walking Meg I was starving. I devoured a pint of ice cream and 2 bagels with butter.

Hopefully I can get on track tomorrow and eat tons of salad.

HEY LADIES!Still on my up/down weekend weight. I try so hard not to go legal-carb crazy but apprently i can help myself. I gave in to the PB cookies and the Ice cream, and i made myself the 3 min choc cake too!! ugh! I dont eat enough real food but i love snacks/sweets on the weekend.

Adi- usually i do have portion control. I buy the LC ice cream bars so i dont go overboard. If i get the carton i'll eat more than the serving size sometimes. I like the RR rolls but sometimes the are so time consuming! I like to hace the OMM on the weekends as a treat for breakfast. WHOA those iphones are expensive, will you replace it? I dont think i would. I've never had a carb withdrawl reaction like that before, hope you are feeling better. I've figured out that most people that are loud dont know they are, we have several people in my office that way.

Dak-funny enough i'm ok with i little taste or piece of sumthin totally Hi carb, its the low carb things that get me. Too much of a good thing i guess. Spa's are nice although i've never been to one for anything.

Kritter-sweets is my biggest temptation, but i've been really wanting mexican food too!! Tacos, and chips and salsa!! that and Doritos with melted cheese, which is funny b/c i really dont even like them. That's alot of things to do for the house but WOW 20 K! that's like a car.

Hey LM!! hope your Mother's day was good!!

Hi all. Still have the headache. Been drinking water and have been to the bathroom every 30 minutes plus I was up 4 pounds again this monring. Obviously water weight. I remember I used to have to take diuretics. Do not want to start that. Plus I caught DH red handed cheating on his diet last night.

TIO - DS is going to pay for a new one out of his last few dollars from his savings account. He is getting an upgraded one that is $499. One just like his is $399. I am still mad at him. I think he is lieing to me. I think he knows what happened to it. Something aout the way he acts when I ask him where he was at 5:55 p.m. since that is the last time it was used on Monday. Sweets are now one of my vices and I used to not have that problem. Now ice cream (even LC) is a problem with me.

hey all

I am here! computer on the fritz [spelling?] and has been sent away for another 8-10 business days!!!!!!!1

I am following you all even though I cannot log in, DH brings home his lap top each evening..

Please advise: Do you think you crave things sometimes for a reason? As you know I am training for a half marathon [13 miles] and so I do my little 3 miles and then on the weekend I run a little further etc. I have been experimenting with cutting down on foods too, subbing fish for red meat etc but I am BINGING. Tonight we had tilapia and then I became OBSESSED with peanut butter with raisins. Yes, I ate two of those small boxes of raisins, I stuck them in tabelspoons of peanut butter and it was delish! WHAT is with me? I AM burning a lot of calories working out each day I am averaging 400-500 and work out an hour + each day, is it remotely possible I am not eating enough and so I crash and burn or am I just a weakling and incapable of sticking to this or any diet anymore?

Tio-at least what you succumb to is LEGAL! You are doing just fine!
Adi-Poor dear, I hate that you retain water this way!
Kritter-Gawd, that ice cream and bagels sound goooooooood
Dak-Hi sweets! I am so enviosu fo you! You have so many fabulous things coming up! Oh, Dak, no I am NOT doing a TRIatholon, which is swimming, biking and running, I THINK I might try and run a half marathon [which is 13.1 miles or something like that]

Y'all, I have ONE month, FOUR weeks til my weeekend getaway with my sister and I continue to crash and burn. Am I just "over"? I mean will I just never have the motivation again?

Just a quick hello!!
Coming down from this weekend, bit by bit.
ADI- Mothers can always tell when children are not telling it all!! LOL Depending on the kind of IC i can eat it all. That's how i gained most of my weight( 2/5$) Ben and jerry's and hagen daz!! Oh no DH is cheating? Dang already!

LM- YES you are not eating enough! Esp on the days when you are running more. Sorry to tell ya but you need to up the Carbs (good ones) i moderate about of PB is ok. Or a half small Sweet pot., maybe even some rasin. They do have those carb gels that you can take, i hear they are not too damaging if you watch what eles you eat. YOU CAN NOT DEPRIVE yourself and still work out the way you are. Why are you cutting down on foods?

Hey- kritter and Dak!

Hi All!

Another good day of eating under my belt, ha ha. Feels good. I've gotten better at telling myself no.

Lil Miss, I wonder, do you think it would help to slow down more when you're eating? Or possibly eat w/o multi-tasking? And allow more generous portions of healthy veggies & fruit? That's been helping me.

TIO, I think I used to like low carb ice cream better than regular, I found that I wouldn't gain on it, but I would definitely not lose.

Adi, gee, with the headaches & water retention, maybe you should go back to the way you were eating. You sounded like you were doing better on it? It's tricky being the cook, I know. Since DS went away to school I am no longer "the cook." I use to be away at work for 12 hrs a day, then come back to a house and have to cook dinner. DH works out of the house. So no longer. I might cook for us on the weekends but he's on his own now when I'm working, which is most of the time.

Kritter, way to go on all your walking! I'm trying to be like you, but haven't gotten out the last two days. I'm a wimp when it's windy out.

Godnight ladies, I hope this post doesn't sound *****y, I guess I'm in one of my moods.

Thanks for the advice TIO and Dak! I HAVE been thinking maybe I just need to stop obsessing about carb counts and just enjoy all natural whole foods for a bit, dunno, still thinking about it!

Still on DH's work computer so I have to run!

Hi to adi and kritter!

Hi guys, work has been so crazy! I'm taking off tomorrow to food shop and cook for Saturday because we're having DH's family over. Plus I'll get a little cleaning done. I have to work on my paper for school too but I keep putting that off.

lil miss, I do believe our body craves what it needs. I think peanut butter's okay as long as it's sugar-free, natural stuff. And with all of that running you should probably up your carbs a bit. How about adding some lentil and bean dishes? They're good sources of protein and fiber but are low glycemic. And more fruit? TIO's sweet pot idea is a good idea.

Dak, I've been getting a lot of walking done on the weekends but then I'm barely getting any exercise during the week. Have to work on that. Your post didn't sound moody. Are you working a lot of hours?

tio, I love nachos and cheese. Next time I go off the deep end, I think it may be with that dish I've never seen LC ice cream bars. Are they covered in chocolate? I may have too look for them. I usually avoid the ice cream section of the store so I miss all of the new stuff when it comes out.

adi, what was your DH cheating with? He's so bad!

Morning!

Still on plan and enjoying it. Losing some weight, my clothes would fit so much better. It's getting hot here, supposed to be in the 100's this weekend.

Kritter, yes, I have been working a lot, and for the next two weeks I'm going to be working quite a bit. Glad I still have the work!

Lil Miss, sorry you're computer is down! 1/2 marathon, triathalan, they're all out of my league. So cool that you're doing that.

Hey all

Ugh, woke up sick this am. Now I know why I have felt so fatigued all week! I have the sorest throat. LAst week, the bambino was sick and he kept pointing INSIDE his mouth and saying "boo boos in 'dere" and I thought he was getting hiw two year molars, now methinks maybe he had horrible sore throat!

Glad to hear you are feeling good Dak!

Adi, I need to fly down to TX and you can lock me and your DH in your mobile and feed us atkins friendly stuff through the windows! We're both BAD!

Hi Tio! Drink your water this weekend!

HI Kritter! I am presently reading the Paleo Diet, basically it is low carb, lots of protein, fruits and veggies, no dairy or processed stuff. I think I will defintely need to up my carbs as my runs get longer but I want to increase them in order, ore veggies, then fruits and maybe not even add grains back in...

LOL lil miss! Adi can have another side business as an Atkins tough love Fat Farm. It's heart-breaking thinking about poor Ben with a sore throat. It's so tough when they don't feel good and can't tell you what's wrong. Rest up and drink lots of fluids so you can get well fast.

Wow Dak that's hot! Is that usual for this time of year? I thought you guys had a more temperate climate.

Hi adi and tio!

Anyone have any fun plans this weekend? We're having DH's parents and siblings over tomorrow. I really enjoy that because it's a small enough crowd that we can all talk and be part of the conversation. And usually everyone has a few drinks and has a great time. His Dad really enjoys coming over because we make Manhattans for him and they're his favorite.

So you all know I'm a skincare junkie and I was reading about a product from Weleda called Everon Face Balm that's supposed to work miracles for your complexion so I'm off to search for that tonight. I can't resist the promise of perfect skin

Today was chilly and rainy here. Of course it was because I had to go food shopping. I went to Whole foods and spent a fortune, but I needed a few things that I could only get there and because it was pouring rain, I didn't feel like driving from store to store. I made the paninis for tomorrow so all I have to do is heat them up tomorrow and I got some cheese, crackers and mini quiches.

I also bought sprouted graine penne and brocoli rabe and plan on making that with chick peas and tons of olive oil and garlic. If I worked from home, I'd live on smelly stuff like that. I told DH we should live in Italy where everyone eats tons of garlic so everyone probably smells and then you don't notice it

The roofer/window guy was here to measure and he said it would take about 3 weeks for the windows to come in, but they're going to start ripping off the siding next week. Yikes! I can't wait for it to be all done, but it's going to be rough while they're doing it.

Morning!

Staying on plan, 4 pounds down, 6 pounds away from my first goal.

Sorry to hear about your sore throat, Lil Miss! Hope you get better soon. Hope you're taking a break from training for a bit to rest up, sore throats are painful!

I drove up to San Jose yesterday and helped DS bring his stuff back from school. Stopped at Eddie Bauer and the way back (Outlet Center) and found 4 tops, hopefully for France. Two of them are sleeveless and they're both nice and long, because I'm tall so often tops start to rise up on me.

Kritter, no, not all that unusual, we have hot summers here and it feels like summer has started. At least we already got the A/C serviced! Great that the service guys are ready to start on your house, hope the project will go by quickly. Hope you had a good visit with you relatives!

Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.

hey ladies!! Hope eveyone's weekend was nice. Mine was pretty relaxing. Had a refeed meal of pizza! Only one slice too!! I'm pretty proud of myself! I really wanted the whole thing but my friend gave me one slice and let me eat his toppings after that. So i'm up 2 lbs from friday but i'm ok with it. I'm still doing atkin/stillmans but more atkins this week, i want to get back to the veggies, but no cheese during the week yet.

LM_so sorry you and Ben are sick, nothign is worse than a sore throat. Take it easy and drink up!! You'll hafta tell us more about this diet, i've never heard of it. I think your plan for upping the carbs is good. I would however on the day befoer the race( i know its a ways off) but carb load.

Kritter- yes they are coverd in chocolate. They are the same Caramart brand that the ice cream is. Blue bunny apparently has some bars too. How was the dinner, small groups are nice? I'm with you o the Italy thing, Me and the EXBF used to say that all the time. I love Garlic and onions!!! I could/try to eat it in everything. Those are th two things i run out of quickest.

Dak- COngrats on the lbs!!! I want to be there too!! That's a little too hot for me. I coldn't bear being outside in that. I like EB's clothes they have alot of comfy out door stuff too. How long til France?

Hey- DAK!!!

Hi all. I forgot to tell you I was going to a 3 day festival. I was GREAT and ate NOTHING from the festival except drank some coffee. I took tuna pouches and stirred mayo into it in the pouch. Worked well. Took a couple of chicken breast too since I had an ice chest. Also vienna sausages in the little cans. All that salt wasn't too good thoug. But I am losing inches since I am wearing a dress I could not button 2 weeks ago. Festival was slow. Lots and lots of people but they were mainly lookers. I bartered and am now the proud owner of a leather purse and a really pretty serpentine hand made necklace. 4 bars of soap and a large scrub will buy you anything I found out.
My best sellere was lip balm and that is also my cheapest item. Guess they wasted alll of their money on festival food and carnival rides. Silly people.

kritter - I caught DH drinking beer while (supposedly) on Atkins induction. Gee DH, let's just see if we can gain some more. Hope your house turns out GREAT. I ordered some siding to replace the piece that blew off of our house in a storm. It has arrived so now we have to figure out how to install it. Second story of course.

lilmiss - I second sweet potatoes for good carbs. Need some carbs for heavy duty exercise.

tio - yeppers, Blue Bunny has LC ice cream bars. I stay as far away from that cooler when I go to the grocery store as I can get or I will find a box in my cart and will eat them all on the way home. I have NO control over ice cream. I will eat LC ice cream KNOWING it will make me sick as a dog. I am sad.

Off to work. Just finished my sausage lunch. I had 2 eggs for breakfast. I have lost my appetite and forget meals now so I should start losing steady if I stay away from stuff I should not have.

Good luck to all on our weight loss journey.

adi, what a great idea to barter with other vendors. That's such a great feeling when your clothes fit better.

tio, who is this friend you had pizza with? Is he new? I love garlic too and love watching cooking shows. Some of the "chefs" use at least a clove of garlic in every dish. I wouldn't be able to go to work if I ate that much garlic every day. I try to only eat it on the weekends so I know I have time to detox

dak, I have the opposite problem with tops. That's one of the reasons I love summer because I don't have to deal with long-sleeve tops that are too long.

So DS is home?

lil miss, are you feeling better? I think I have your sore throat.

Okay, so for the last few days, I've been eating mashed potatoes and scallops(I know it's strange), but that seems to be sitting okay with me. I think today I'm going to continue with scallops for protein and add a salad for lunch and dinner, and skip the potatoes. I'll try that for a few days to see how it sits. I don't know why but the thought of any other seafood or meat is a real turnoff right now. Same with beans and tofu. I also can't stand the thought of most veggies.

But I need to start eating Atkins again. I'll never lose at this rate. And not only lose, but when I eat all of these grains I feel so bloated. It feels like it blows up my intestines. Maybe I'm allergic? Anyway, my plan is to eat scallops, muscles, clams and oysters for protein and salads(greens, tomatoes) and spinach for carbs. And I'm not eating dairy so I should lose something.

hey yall!

Adi- Sounds like you did good at the festival-eating wise. That's cool that other vendors will barter with you, its like to old days. Does DH not understand the whole beer is straight bread thing!! Men always want to do it there way, dont they know they are wrong.lol I wish my hunger would go away i rarely ever have no appetite. I love it when clothes fit that didnt used to. I have lots that are too big now that didnt fit last year, its a great feeling.

Kritter-He's just a guy friend that i've dated in the past. No romance there now though, just friends. Mashed pot and Scallops? hmmm that's a interesting combo. I'm getting sick of meat too. Bleck

LM- hope your feeling better

hi girls!

Ok, so TOM is KICKing my butt. Plus I have been sick. Yech! DH is away so I havent had computer access, but my computer is now repaired so I am back!

OK, so how are we doing in May? Icannot fail another month y'all! It just aint right I tell ya!

So, I ended up paying this chick in my gym to come up with a strength training routine for me to use while I train for this marathon, she also makes a eating plan and she was aghast at what I have been eating, calorie wise. She says I may have slowed my metabolism, I dunno, suz I have cheated so much, so I dont eat all that LOW, yanno? But, point is I guess I "plan" to eat too low and that is most likely why I crash and burn. Anyway, ONWARD, right? I meet with her tomorrow and get to see my plan...

Been sick, so not running and then I stress about not running! I miss those endorphins too I gotta tell ya!

Tio and Kritter-OH, I love garlic too, but you guys sound like DH! I had to ban him from garlic when pregnant with my first DS -in the last month-bc garlic seeps thru his skina nd I can smell it a MILE away and I was worried it would make me so ill I wouldnt want him in the delivery room! ha ha I STILL can tell if he eats garlic at lunch....

Dak-PARIS is calling my friend! You can stay on plan and go there feeling sexy and good in your own skin! Keep up the good work!

Adi-You are doing AWESOME! You havesuch drive I tell ya! I am envious! Good for you for bartering!

Gotta run!

lil miss, the other night, I had eaten so much garlic that during the night, when I turned over, I could smell it on my pillow. It was coming out of my pores!

That kind of makes sense that you try to eat low and then feel deprived and go off the deep end. How do we find the right balance?

tio, that's great that you and your friend are still friends. And especially someone who understands and accepts your woe.

Tonight I made scallops and spinach and plan on eating that tomorrow. Hope it agrees with me.

Hi all. Took DS to the oral surgeon today to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed before he goes off to school. Then BIL started in on me about something and I blew up with him and told him esactly what I thought of him. He is probably packing as we speak. I was NOT nice. You would think he would have figured out by now that the world DOES NOT revolve around him.

Anyway.
DAK - I think I need a couple of weeks every time I change diet plasn to adjust. I had more energy today until I took a nap when DS and I got home. Now I am cranky (BIL figured that out) and I am a little tired.

Kritter - scallops and spinach sounds like a good weight loss combo but not a good sounding combo for taste. But I used to eat shrimp and mustard greens to lose. I guess it doens't matter as long as it works.

lilmiss - Maybe the trainer person is right about not eating enough. You never know.

Tio - Getting so close to goal. I read somewhere to be sure to get enoiugh sleep to lose those last 10 pounds.

Off to make DS some Mac and Cheese.

Wow, alll this talking! I never seem to get notices anymore, though I am subscribed.

Good for you, Adi! I think your BIL had it coming. So often men do not see how their behavior affects those around them, sometimes we just have to spell it out for them. Glad to hear your diet is settling in.

Lil Miss, you can do this!!! With all your workouts you must be toning tremendously. Keep us posted on the new eating plan!

Kritter, when I was at Trader Joes today I saw frozen panini sandwiches and thought of you... thought about buying them for the guys, but I have a feeling freshly made would be better.

TIO, getting sick of meat? That was what brought me over to eating primarily vegetarian again. How close are you to goal?

just a quick hey! losing slowly but better preping myself for maintence i guess.

LM-she's probably right seeing that you are training for a big run. Hope the plan works for you though!

Kritter-Yeah most people i interact with are good about it. Expect for my boss who praises my loss but then complains about what i eat!! It annoys me sometimes, but then i laugh on the inside when she complains about needing to lose weight. Funny that your on a scallops kick i've been really craving bacon wrapped scallops. Bought some yesterday to make tomorrow!

Adi-Well no wonder i'm struggling, i get no sleep. esp. not at night. UGH. Sometime men need a little expolsion. I dont have a HB but every man i've dated seems to think its all about them.

Dak- i'm about 12lb from goal, that is if i stick with the goal i have in mind. I really would like to lose another 25 but maybe that's pushing it.

Aw, poor adi! That BIL had it coming! and I agree with the other ladies, all men are incredibly self centered. Raising three boys I am seeing it might start AT BIRTH....How's DS? 4 teeth, ouch...

Dak-WOW, that youtube, I couldnt stop watching! I want to go back and watch the other segments as well!

TIO-slow and steady wins the race, it's always slow the closer you get to goal of course.

Ok guys, so my new eating plan in a nutshell is:
eat 130 grams of protein a day
except for some half and half in my coffee, eat only lower fat cheeses and milks
eat fruits and vegetables
eat 1500 calories/day
do this faithfully 6 days a week with no "tastes" of junk food etc and then get a free day the 7th day.

This trainer gal feels that I have been keeping carbs and calories too low. I have noticed a difference in my legs, getting thicker, clothes being tight in my LEGS, this is NEW to me and she says I havent been eating enough protein and cannot sustain the workouts she has seen me doing so my body has been getting the protein from my body, my muscles and possible my internal organs! Gross, huh?

I am old enough to know she is not an MD etc but I figure, yanno what, been doing stuff on my own for a while now and have NOT been losing so why not jump into her plan and se what happens? It's not like I am for-going my super successful plan, right?

She made a couple of menus for me and they are like:
B- Quaker weight control oatmeal, 3 egg whites
S-Pure Protein bar
L 3 oz chic on a salad, oil and vinegar or whole grain bread, turkey, lett, tom, onion, fruit
S- yogurt or apple with sf pb or lf cheese with a few wheat crackers
D- 4 oz protein, veggies and fruit or a whole grain

I am scared you guys, really scared to try this but I need to I think. At the very least to shock my body, right?

But you cant deny this looks HEALTHY right?

She also made a lifting plan for me to compliment my training runs so thats super cool. She has me lifting 3 days a week, but lower body is only one day so that will be a day I "rest" from running.

I just got back from the grocery store. SO weird after YEARS to be reading all the bread labels, buying almonds, yogurts [dannon fit and lights], Kashi go lean cereal [which I LOVE] etc.

I am excited, but scared. Can you guys please tell me you think this is okay? I need some positive reinforcement, like, "you will not BLOW up eating like this"

I am excited too bc it is obviously an easy way for my WHOLE family to eat.

lilmiss - I would give it a try. It sounds a lot like some weightlifting plan I tried several years ago. It worked great as long as I exercised every morning. But I gradually got lazy about the exercise. I have faith that you will do great on it and you will keep up the exercise. Believe it or not but DS took his pain medi when we got home and crawled into bed and he bounced up this morning and went to school without any pain medi, played a powderpuff volleyball game after school and has now arrived home and is playing on his computer. Youth. I would still be in the bed.

kritter - Hi. By the way Squeakie has lost the most weight in our family. SHe is really looking good. She is down to 17.4 from a high of 19.2 Sad isn't it? The dog is doing better than the rest of us. I seem to be stable but dropping inches so that is good.

Tio - Now go to bed early and get your rest. You need your sleep to lose. I really think there is something to that.

Dak - I really think BIL had it coming. How dare he come into my house and start trying to order me around. I am not his bar fly bimbo type that he is used to. I think I scared DH too.
