Hi everyone,

Lisa, I hope your tooth is better soon. I know what a drag that can be.

This weekend I've been running around town. I gotta gas my car soon, and looking at the gas prices I'm like.... The prices are up at least 20 cents from when I last gassed up a week ago. I gotta buy a bike and leave the car at home!!!

I'm still on plan and eating clean, clean, clean. The last couple of days have been really boring. I've been throwing tuna or egg salad in a tupperware with some lettuce or avocado to eat on the run. I'm sure I did not eat my calories though. But I'm not stressing myself over it, I gotta take my focus off losing weight so much. It's making me a bit crazy. Besides, the sun is shining and I'm headed to the beach in a while. Life is good!

Of course we did!! Welcome back!!
Not sure what's going on, we have people missing and I don't like talking to myself..

Weigh-in day today gals, and I'm still sitting at 158... I sure hope my body finishes adjusting sometime soon! I have been slacking in the exercise department, just way too darn tired to do any so I'm thinking that could be part of the stuck issue's? Not worried about it anyways, it will come off when it's darn ready too!

Off to work shortly, so I'm off to jump in the shower and get my lunch ready.....Will post later....

OK, finally home! I am in the middle of a cooking frenzy but thought I'd try to catch up on everyone while I'm cooking.

Lisa--yay on getting back to siggy, boo on tooth ache (I hate tooth pain worse than anything!), yay on getting the tooth/filling fixed! I saw that you weren't thrilled with the pumpkin muffins. I'm pretty sure the peanut flour would not be a good combo, but also, I don't like the texture of anything that has only nut meals/flours. I always sub at least 1/2 with Carbquick or Carbalose--and sometimes I completely sub with these. They make the texture and taste very close to the high carb version. Also--did you use splenda? If so, you miss out on the texture that sugar provides which is why I use erythritol and diabetesweet. Truly, these few products make all the difference in baked goods. It's weird because I can almost totally replicate high carb things but using these products it does not set off cravings/binges at all--but give me a little sugar and it's all over!

Lei--OK, it looks like you have not been eating girl! It's time to get some food in you! If nothing else make sure to pack some fruit, seeds/nuts and protein bars in your book bag so you aren't stuck with nothing! So, how is school going? Are you loving it? Have you made new friends? Are you learning tons?

Lucy--sorry about the internet problems, hope it's all straightened out now. OK, about the stall, you know I have to ask---are you still doing the CO? If you are, think about dropping it for one week and see what happens. If you aren't, then I'd say there is something in your daily food that you aren't tolerating. I see the cappaccinos--could you be one of those people that caffeine creates insulin/blood sugar problems for? Start posting menus daily and we'll figure it out.

Man, am I bossy today or what!?

Alisa--good for you on the .8 this week! It looks like you are the biggest loser for the week--yay you! I see you are eating up to your BMR--good for you. I really believe that the chances of a person maintaining their loss is directly related to losing it wisely. People who starve themselves to get it off fast will most likely never make it to goal, but even if they do they will never maintain in the long run--cause there just aren't many people who are willing/able to starve for the rest of their lives!

Missy--I can relate to the embarrasing weigh in. Well, actually I won't get to see the ugly truth of it all until morning but I'm not looking forward to it. Maybe we need a little challenge--no sugar or white flour (not even a bite or a lick) for 30 days. What do you say?

Well, I need to go back and finish reading everything, but it looks like everyone else has disappeared....what's up with that?

Here's my question for the day--for those of you that have or do eat multiple mini meals a day--did you immediately like it or was it an adjustment? Did you find that you were more hungry at first and if so did it get better? I am contemplating trying this one more time doing 5-6 small meals a day. Every time I have tried this I am constantly hungry but I've never made it more than a few days or a week--so maybe if I just hung in there a few more days it would get better...? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I'm up for the challenge Teresa

As for the mini meals, I've never actually done that before unless you count snacks but I still have my big meals . I'm pretty set in my meal times.

Teresa i stopped the CO about 2 weeks ago and no budge. I think you are right about the caffeine. Its the oNE thing I increased around the same time I started adding dairy. I guess i need to cut it off. Seems like I have to give up everything I enjoy

alas, if I dont give that up i'll never lose weight and my weight is dangerously high. I'll lose much more than that if I dont shape up. Thanks for all teh support girls! I really appreciate it!

Missy--OK, challenge begins tomorrow--so no licking donuts!

Lucy--I know, it sucks giving up our favorites. Here's another thought--do you drink coffee throughout the day, or just at meals? If you drink it outside of meals, you might try just having it at mealtime. I know that I am super sensitive to blood sugar swings so I don't eat or drink anything between meals except water. I don't taste anything (even when cooking), don't chew sugar free gum unless it is right after a meal, don't drink diet soda unless at a meal, etc. I mean seriously---NOTHING but water between meals. It might sound drastic but I think it has been a huge factor in my weight loss. For some people eating/drinking throughout the day is not a big deal--calories are calories--but for me, it truly is about the whole insulin resistance thing. If you have ever read any of the Hellers books (CAD, CALP, etc.) they wrote a lot of things which really "spoke" to me about how even a piece of sugar free gum outside of meal time can cause (for some people) blood sugar to spike--insulin to release--and for me, that means fat to go into storage or at the very least no fat to be released. It's actually a bit more complex than that but that is how I think of it. Anyway, if you are in that boat it may be that you need to just have your coffee with a meal. So, you might want to try cutting out any caffeine between meals and just limit it to having it with one or two meals. If that works, you don't have to give it up (yay!). If it doesn't then try dumping it for a week. If that doesn't work--then it's back to the drawing board (but at least you can have your coffee back!). Anyway, I know it is really discouraging when you look at all the things you have to give up--but know that many of them you can add back in when you are in maintenance. Actually, even before that, as you find your insulin resistance is "healing" you will find that your body is less resistant and you may be able to add some things back in and still lose. I have to say, you have hung in there through a pretty rough stall and I believe you will definitely be rewarded for all of your hard work!!

Well, my kitchen is a disaster, but I have enough food cooked for a week or two. Going to get my buns in bed--night all!

My cappuccino consist of 2 raw eggs, cream and (used to be ) 2 tbs CO and 1/4 C coffee. So it wasn't coffee alone, and i ate it with my 1min muffin. When I first started atkins I wasn't doing ANY caffeine, I had given it up "for good" I have no idea why i added it back. I do drink black tea sometimes if I need a pick me up, but tea has very little caffeine, but caffein is caffeine and perhaps i just cant have any.

I cant believe I am still on plan, My old self would have binged by now. I guess I really am serious this time, i've gotta get out of this body!

Dinner was talapia fillets with some green beans. Boring, but did the trick. I'm off to bed, see it's 1:36 am and iM on here lol.

Good morning!

Lucy--bummer...but I'd say dump it. Also, are you getting in enough calories a day? Yes, I am the calorie police! But seriously, I've learned the hard way in the past about not eating enough in my attempts to lose and it always back fires. You definitely are serious, and the rewards will be coming--hang in there!

M1 egg casserole
M2 cheesecake muffin and spicy pumpkin seeds
M3 beef and veggie stir fry and sf choc covered peanuts
M4 2 hard boiled eggs
M5 turkey/bacon/cream cheese roll up and green bean casserole
M6 jello w/cream cheese

OK, so I'm trying the mini meal thing today. Everything is basically in half portions and I think roughly is about 1800 calories. I'm still interested in hearing from anyone who has done this before--successfully or not--for any insights you might have!

Hello all do you have room for another

Hi all

I have read through your thread and I would love to join.

I have done Atkins in the past with success. Then I got thyroid cancer 2001 then again 2005 and I had my Radio Active Iodine in May 2006. The same time my baby who was then 11 was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa ( degenerative eye disease) it was all too much. Well I made it through. I am cancer free, my daughter is doing awesome. I am in the mood to do this.

I have been told by my endo that the only way I will lose the weight is to Lowcarb. People with thyroid problems have to cut back on the carbs.

I am really motivated.

Here is a short bio

My name is Katie I am 5 10, 42 years old. I live in Ontario Canada. I am married 2 girls 13 and 14 years old. My oldest plays Rep soccer and we travel all over. I am the manager of her team plus I work full time at Male prison So I am busy. I am also loud and outgoing lol lol

I really need to be accountable to myself and some other people. So I will get in here everyday (maybe not weekends) and chat with you all. I look forward to getting to know you.

Some of your stats are amazing. Congrats.

Thanks

Katie

Katie---welcome aboard!! Wow, you and your family have been through so much with medical issues--you have proven you are a survivor so if you can do that--this will be no problem at all!! We have a lot in common, I have thyroid issues also and I use to be a counselor in a male prison so I know all about that kind of drama!!

Opps, late to a meeting again--gotta go!

teresa - I actually was impressed with the texture.........unfortunately in trinidad I can't get ,Carbquick ,Carbalose or erythritol and diabetesweet

However when i travel I try to pick up the things I can't get here...like xanathan gum or Torani/Davinchi syrups.........on my last trip to the USA I forgot to buy Carbquick .....but i did get SF chocolate pudding and SF chocolate turtles....I am so glad they are finished now

A really good friend of mine in South Dakota is right now on the hunt for Stevia seeds for me....Trinidad has the perfect climate to grow Stevia plants.....i will send you all some when/if it grows.......I hope they don't hold me for suspicion of contraband substances

Anyways.....as for the pumpkin muffins...i am sure with the carbquik I will love them...........I was trying to make the Faux atkins bake mix and realised i did not have the ingredients for them either

Lucy - well done on the serious attitude and sticking on plan ..........how much cream do you use in your cappuccino....too much cream can also be a staller..........Also contrary to popular belief....Tea contains more caffeine than coffee.....so I say give up the coffe for a week and see what happens...also I agree with Teresa...POST YOUR MENUS DAILY...we may see something that you might have missed

Teresa - As for the frequent meal eating............I love it because I am not really a big meal person....i have always been a snacking type of person...even in my pre LOW CARB days I could live for days on potato chips or icecream and no real food......so for me 3 meals a day does not really work.........I eat when i am hungry but I eat small amounts..........having to eat veggies is the hardest thing for me ......because in order fo me to get it down I have to eat it with meat or cheese ......I rather eat a piece or meat alone or a piece of cheese alone ..........but for soem reason I don't seem to like to eat more than one thing at the same time ....wierd eh.......look what you made me just realise....

Also.........you might want to note.......i find if I was carbed up and I try to lowcarb, the next few day I eat and eat like a bottom less pit.....but once my blood sugars are stable I eat only whne truly hungry......SO beware because you trying to eat smaller meals after not being on plan for awhile might feel like you are no feeling satisfied....but after a few days your body should adjust.....drink LOADS OF WATER for the first fer days

Katie - welcome aboard......a male prison huh......we might very well pass over the drill sergeant role to you

everyone else ...HOWDY

yesterday

M1 - sausage link & curry mayo
M2 - protein shake
M3 - 1/4 rotisserie chicken
M4 - chocolate protein shake smoothie with 3 strawberries
M5 - pan seared salmon with spinach in coconut mik (aka callaloo)
M6 - 3 cheese baked cauliflower

1746cal 22g

Man it's hard to up my calories and keep my carbs low

Thanks

Lisa and Terresa

Thanks for the warm welcome. I know I am late into May for your challenge but I figured you gals would be doing another for June

Terresa ( I think I have spelt that wrong sorry ) WOW we do have a lot in common. Thyroid problems are awful. I had a big nodule goiter thing that I called the " Alien Ned" that started this all out. The good thing about thyroid cancer is if caught early you can be cured. I am lucky. WOW so you know what I am talking about with my job. LOL lets just say it is never dull. I work in inmate programs.
I am so hoping to get some of this weight off. I cannot stand looking at pictures anymore. No more excuses it is time to take care of me.

Lisa LOL no you can keep the drill seargant job LOL LOL
I enjoy reading your posts.

Can you guys tell me about you.

Cheers
Katie
