okay..I went home sick and woke up starving with nothing ready(the big draw back of whole foods...) so I ate i cup of brown rice (10 minute boil in bag)with a little butter...BOY, did I blow up! My fingers are swollen my eyes are puffed up. I do not tolerate grains...
live and learn.
Today:
Breakfast-scrambled eggs...2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon
Lunch-celery 4 large stalks and guacamole....YUM.
and an atkins shake for snack.
Steak and sauteed spinach for dinner.
I weighed 136 today...up 2 pounds. I am pretty sure it is water from the brown rice.

Sharon---welcome, welcome! I see that you do CAD, have you been doing that long? I do CAD on vacations and here and there when I need a break. I need to make it more CALP like, but I don't have it quite under control yet and unfortunately I don't balance very well! Glad you came out of lurking, I think you'll like it here!

Woohoo Missy on being down 1.5--WTG!

Aim--yep, I bet it's the rice too. It really seems quite common that people have wheat/grain allergies---isn't that weird since it's one of the things the health experts try to cram down our throats!

Alisa--sounds like you did a great job with the re-feed, thanks for sharing the info. I hope you get great results!!

Lei--I couldn't find the question either, but I'm going to go back and look one more time... And quit picking on Anna!

Anna--it's funny, I didn't even read sugar, I think my head just sees splenda now instead! I also hope that the white substance in your pantry was sugar--hazmat would really not be fun....!

Lisa--awww, how sweet that your kids made you breakfast for Mother's Day! OK, I need some brownie points (sorry Lei) so I'm going to go find your question and I will happily answer it!

157.6 so down .4--not much but I'll take it. Last week I really cut my calories--small portions, using light/lower fat products for everything. From Saturday to Saturday I had 2 days where I was under 1200 calories, 4 days where I had 1500 calories, and 2 days at 1800 calories. My typical seems to be around 2000 calories. That combined with eating 4 meals a day most days, and I would have thought I would lose a couple of pounds, but instead I was up and down the same pound all week. So Sunday I decided to go back to the way I normally eat and now I've actually lost a little---once again I have proven to myself that I just need to keep doing what I've always done and it will eventually work out! Geesh, you would think I would have got that through my head by now. Don't get me wrong, I will still do some carb cycling and other things as I have all along, but the lower calorie (and counting calories) thing really does not work for me!

BBL

Alisa to the rescue--now I don't have to go search for the question!

Hmmm, that is a hard one. One thing that very few people in my life know---is that I saved a little boy at a pool that almost drowned. He fell or was pushed in, not sure. He hit is head and was unconscious. Some older kids grabbed him and started dragging him to the side of the pool. I instinctively grabbed him and went to work. I didn't have to do CPR, but had to pump the water out of his stomach and do rescue breathing. It was the most terrifying exerience of my life. He went from being a limp dead weight to finally sputtering and coming back...so weird. I have never prayed so hard in my life and I think I bawled for about 24 hours after. When the ambulence arrived he was just coming around---I didn't even hear the sirens or see the paramedics as they came running up---that is how in the zone I was. Wow, even to this day that is very emotional for me to think about--it was just so scary.

Later.

Sorry, no time to read, gotta get ready for work, but thought I'd do a quick menu update of what I've had so far today:

Meal 1: 2 almond cookies I made yesterday (totally legal)
Meal 2: broccoli omelet

Hope you all do well today! I'll be back later tonight!

And of course I have skeletons in my closet.. Along with dust bunnies, out dated clothing, probably even a old love letter or two... Will have to think about that question and get back to you!

Okay.....

Weigh-in day and I stayed the same... I'm okay with that though, as no one ever said this was easy...

Contribution:

Poor self-esteem encourages a negative and distorted body image
Losing weight is challenging at the best of times, but with poor self-esteem it becomes even more difficult. If you don’t think you deserve to look and feel good, why bother?
Poor self-esteem encourages a negative and distorted body image, meaning you drastically undervalue your body and appearance; this in turn discourages you from taking care of yourself. And if you don’t want to take care of yourself, where is your motivation to control your weight?
If you have low self-esteem it's also likely that you don’t give yourself enough credit for achievements, focusing on what you haven’t done instead of what you have. For example, if you go for a twenty-minute walk, you tell yourself you should have gone for forty minutes. This sort of self-discouragement can be a major problem for achieving goals; who wants to keep trying when they feel they are constantly failing?
On the other hand, if you have high self-esteem, you believe that you deserve to feel and look better, you congratulate yourself for small achievements, and believe in your ability to eventually achieve your long-term goal of permanent weight loss. Taking care of yourself and your body is a natural extension of high self-esteem.

Teresa123-I have been doing CAD off and on and try to balance. My biggest problem is eating after the 1 hour and eating when I'm not hungry. That's why I'm here. Gotta get a grip.

Thanks to everyone for the kind, 'welcome'.

Weighed this a.m.-200...maybe wonderland, next week.

Monday's menu
8am-0-3 cups coffee, 3 T cream
11am-0-2 eggs scrambled. 1/2 c blueberries
6pm-0-1 chicken breast, 2 c roasted caulif..both mixed together with curried mayo. 1 wassa with pb&j, 1/2 c blueberries.

BTW-the '0' in my menu...I rate my hunger level from 0 to 5 with 0 being REALLY hungry and 5 being Thanksgiving dinner full.

Goals met-only ate when hungry. No eating after last meal....1 day down.

Just a quicky while I'm eating lunch--I realized I forgot my menu.

b: 2 hb eggs, 1 pb cheesecake muffin
l: salad w/parm fried chicken, sunflower seeds, green peppers and honey mustard dressing, and jello w/cream cheese
d: chicken/broc casserole and yocheese w/strawberries

Sharon--I think rating your hunger is a great idea! I may have to start doing that. I know there are certain days and even certain meals that make me hungrier or more satisfied, but I have a hard time nailing down the pattern! Do you usually eat fruit at a cm? One of the things that keeps me from doing CAD all the time is the cm's are sooooo boring! I love my yogurt, seeds, nuts, fruits, etc and I don't want to have them only once a day but if I kept it small enough maybe I could....hmmm, another thing to think about!

Lisa--I'd say it's the Mother's day stuff causing the scale to go up. The only thing that might be worth looking at is sodium and aspartame. Aspartame is the only thing I have found so far that really seems to stall me. With sodium, depending on the brands, you may be having a lot. Tuna is typically loaded with it, bacon is also. I think tuna also has a lot of glutamates (or something like that) which are known stallers for some. Sharon may be able to talk more to that as I remember that from the CALP book (or one of the Hellers books). I know I recently looked at my South Beach ranch dressing and saw that there was 300 mg sodium in 2 tablespoons---yikes cause I use 3-4 times that amount on a salad! So, who knows. Oh wait, let me give you one more that I think came from one of the Hellers books--whey protein--apparently it contains glutamates and can stall a lot of people. Now, do I believe any of that is what is going on with you--probably not--but who knows so I thought I would just throw it out there! Whatever is going on, we'll help you figure it out and if we need to do an intervention next week--I'm in!

OK, got to get ready for a meeting, bbl.

I keep asking where this thread is but noone will tell me

Ooo dear... Lei I didn't read your message till AFTER I'd already eaten... aww... I didn't get reminded to eat my damn veggies!
Haha

B: Pork chop (didn't go to work today.. so.. had it for breakfast instead)
L: Peppered steak and brussel sprouts with butter
D: Lamb chop and cabbage with butter
S: Tomato
6 cups coffee with whipping cream, 5 cups herbal tea

Cals: 1563!!!! Carbs: 37 (from veggies and whipping cream tho so not too worried), Fat: 110 , Protein: 104

Teresa: I would pick A, I hate cooking lol. I'm at university, I'm doing forensic biology with psychology. One of my modules for this year was work based learning, basically you go and work somewhere for 144 hours voluntarily, for experience, and then write a 3000 word report on what you learnt. I chose to work in a lab to see if I could handle working in a lab full time- and I love it. They offered me a job for the holidays a week into my placement, so will be working there over the summer, and get PAID!
A loss of 0.4 is still a loss so WTG I dunno what carb cycling is so can't comment on that, will look it up when I don't have to force my eyes to stay open with matchsticks

Welcome Sharon

I was at the doctors AGAIN today because the pain in my jaw is just getting worse and worse, I'm taking really strong painkillers and they aren't helping. The doctor was useless, told me to come back in a year if it's not sorted itself out. Seeing a different doctor on Friday. It's like the worst earache ever combined with the worst toothache ever. And I keep falling asleep all the time even though I'm sleeping properly at night (which is rare for me), it's getting dangerous when I'm at the top of a ladder or something at work and just fall asleep.. I fell asleep so many times at work yesterday, even stood up. Forced myself to eat today because I wasn't hungry and felt sick. No exercise though
Having the rest of this week off to try and get myself right, then back to work on Monday (I could have finished the placement this Friday, I only have to do 144 hours, and I would have done 150 by the end of Friday, but gonna give them next week instead).

What's a Ginko? I swear you guys make these words up to confuse me.. it's a CONSPIRACY!

Congrats on the loss Missy
