Hey guys. Haven't checked in for a couple days. Things at work have been nuts. I went down 4.5 lbs. last week, got a total of 6.0 for the month. I got the power90 workouts that Ken mentioned. Looks pretty good -- just started it. Haven't had the temptation to "cheat" because I'm really liking the food I'm having. My sister is also doing low-carb and she tells me how to make some great stuff so eats-wise I'm doing good. I'm a diabetic and when I only have to take 1 unit of humalog and my post-meal glucose is 100, makes me a happy camper. Lovin it.

Late check in

Crazy day got up and was going to workout got a call that I needed to pick up my eldest boy. Ok workout later get home start dinner a nice fat roaster for the set it n forget it. Get that going go outside to split some wood (back up workout). Youngest comes out and says somthings smelss like its burning. Go in to investigate SOB somethings smokin on top of the set it n forget it. Turns out to be DW's new fake leather folder melting to the top of the machine. What a friggin mess. That damned thing blended in perfect on top of that thing. I even took some other crap off the top before I started it and didn't even notice that thing. Well alls good lucky someone was in the house or that thing very well could have started to really cook.

Heres something someone sent me, thought I'd pass it along.

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.'

The coffee just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Good morning fellers. I saw a good loss on the scale this morning, so I am happy since the past few days have been a little sluggish.

Ed- Great message, thanks for posting.

Ken - Just curious what the laws are like in Canada dealing with gambling. Is it wide spread and accepted? Is it different in each provence? The closest thing to my house is a casino boat that must sail a certain amount of miles off the coast before the fun starts. Never been on it, but I have been to Atlantic City, NJ a few times. Even though I have never won any money, I still thought it was fun. Just wondering how Canada compares to the US in regards to gambling.

Greetings, campers.

Another solid day for me yesterday. I avoided the urges that have plauged me for the last few days. Hopefully, I can get my mind square before I really face some challenges that coming up in the next few months.

Adam, get well and be strong. I know when I am sick I used to try to make myself feel better with traditional comfort foods. Don't do it. You're too close to the 200's.

Ed, that's a great story. I've heard a different version of it before, but it is refreshing to hear it again.

Ken, good luck on those slots. The casino appreciates your donation!

i'm back to that 234 number this morning
i sure freekin hope it stays or i can improve upon it over the weekend.

Went biking Tues night again. Ive created a 7 mile ride around where I live thats pretty intense for me...and I can do it in about 30 minutes. First time I hit the main hill (there are several)...had to stop halfway up and rest. 2nd time, took it all the way, 3rd time, all the way again, this past Tuesday, I hit that hill twice and both times did it all the way up without stopping. Feels good to improve and get the legs burning.

I hope ya' all have an active weekend no matter what you do.

Hey Guys,

Started a new workout today incorporating some free weights into the mix along with some bodyweight exercise. I'm going to be doing upper body twice a week and lower body twice a week with running on the off days. I hope this mix will get things moving along. Something has to give sooner or later. Getting tired of hovering just above the fence.
Wall I may need to dust off the bike and go for a ride this weekend in fact I think I will. We have some pretty good hills around here too.

Ed out

Hey guys,

I saw 300.0 on the scale again today. I think its taunting me now. But thats okay. Just gotta hold the line.

Shiner, good luck with the cough. I feel your pain on that one.

Ed, don't forget to have some fun with your workouts. Otherwise, whats the point?

Wall, Gratz on the low numbers. Are you going to keep 230 as your goal, or do you think you'll go lower. I see that youare an inch taller than me, but your goal is 25 pounds higher. I'm interested to see where you stop, since most people on the boards have lower goals.

BigD, Same question I threw out to wall. How do you like your goal. gonna stick with 190 you think?

Keith, Gratz on the 6 for the month. KUTGW.

Cheers,
Adam

Howz it hangin fellas? I'm doing well -- another long day. Ken, you should be getting home about now, it's almost 2300 hrs. In the power90 kit I purchased it has the 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 DVDs and a cardio DVD (I think, haven't checked that one out yet). It came with bands, but I have some dumbells here as well. I'm well on my way to day 90...actually day two, but I like to look down the road a bit. Is there a way to turn of those %#$^ing emoticons in the message writing area? They drive me @%#&ing nuts! Did well with the eats and working out; going skydiving tomorrow (my boss is out of town so I'm sneaking out of work), getting some more tattoos Saturday, then going to a big kickball drink/eat fest that Baltimore Tattoo Museum is having. Going to visit my Marine brothers at the VA/Bethesda hospital on Monday. Hopefully have some time to chill somewhere during the holiday weekend. Of course Canada Day is coming up before too long!

That is basically the routine that I have. Its a good split. If you lift consistently, you will notice some big gains pretty quick. GL.

Side note, I'm going to be moving home soon (back to the Seattle area) and will be making a 1500 mile drive from North Dakota back. Was planning on going off plan for the 2 day drive, but seeing that im so close to goal I really dont want to screw it up now. Any ideas for road trip food besides the norm?

I'm not really sure where Ill end up in the end...Ill just keep at it and try to stay good to myself. The number is no longer important to me (unless I start to gain again) after reaching this weight. I do have some fat to lose still so Ill keep at it. Now is the time to kick it up a notch and go shiner/Ed all over it and start building muscle.

ive driven that route (94 west to 90) several times. Dont linger too long in Montana...the locals are a bit "odd".

No reason to go off plan!!! You should be able to find these options along the way:

cooler should contain:
almonds, sunflower seeds
cheese sticks
pepperoni and other various bags of deli meats
enough water to last till the next gas station
a diet coke or 2 or my fav a xyience clear

and this last one is critical, no exceptions

a couple cigars

Quick checkin.

I'm trying the trip to the parents again this weekend, so I've got to be mentally strong. I've already gone over the menus for the weekend with my Dad, so I should be in the clear. I'm going to try to get in some jogs, but who know how much time I will have.

Adam, I think 190 is a good goal weight for me. I initially had 210 as my goal, then moved to 200, then 195 and then 190. As I reached each weight I knew I still had more to lose. At 190 I still had flab, but it was more of the need to kick up the exercise to tighten up, rather than drop more pounds. I have a hard time adding bulk to my legs and no butt whatsoever (think Hank Hill), so I can get my weight lower than most at 6'2".

well went for the run, ran a full 5K this time, took me over 30 mins, I must be a slow runner

on the job front, I was told this morning they gave the job i wanted to the guy with more seniority and no qualifications, which at first seems like a bad thing, but it isnt so bad, i contacted the employee rleations guy and head of human resources who think something may not be right, so they are looking into it, and then if they do nothing then the next step is a union grievance, because it contradicts an article in our contract, im almost positive its winnable, and 4 other guys in the department asked to sign on to the grievance so they can be heard as well

still actively looking for other employment though, so alls good, funny thing is im more happy now knowing they screwed up!!

Hey Everyone,

Lookin Like its going to be a great weekend weatherwise here. Not going anywhere so I'm finally going to take Harley out and get a few miles in. I will also take the pedal bike and my son for a noce long bike ride at some point this weekend. Eats will be good.

Ken good luck with the greivence and keep the good attitude.

Wall I haven't pedaled my bike in almost a year. Last time they ended up putting 2 stents in my arteries, that was fun. So everyone, myself included was kinda leary about me venturing out on the bike. I'm not worried about it now though I'm in much better shape than last year.

Alex give us a yell.

Have a great Friday stay clean.

yeah what he said great job Adam.

Went out to dinner tonight had Thai food for the 1st time Spicy Basil and beef. That was good. Stir fried veggies with beef and a spicy sauce, I don't know if there was sugar in it could have been the basil that gave it a little sweetness. Definitely a different flavor for the taste buds.

I did my lower body work out today and was looking forward to the last superset I thought it would be easy. Wrong. It consisted of the wall squat and the plank. Wall squat back against the wall put feet out about 2 ft and squat till your quads are parallel to the floor and hold for 45 seconds. Holy crap my hole body was shaking'. Then the plank for 45 seconds, which I new would be easy but after that squat it was tougher than expected. Then I finished it all off with some wood splitting for an hour.

Have a good night Ed out
