***SHORTIES - Week of April 28 ***

Morning Ladies!
I keep forgetting I'm supposed to start the thread now!

How are we going to end April and begin May?
Do we need a challenge?
Diet?
Exercise?

Maybe we need to add something . . . start doing weights?
Start walking/running a little farther?

This month has Mother's Day in it.
What are you going to do for yourself?

Cindy, no fair that it is snowing April 28th.

MK, where is that beautiful scene from??

I almost forget to check for new thread every Monday but I knew something was missing from my morning.

I am working at 10:45. No running till tomorrow to rest and recover but I feel fine. I am still on a high from how well I ran. I am so suprised with all I have gone through the last 8-9 months. I hope my back holds up during Half Marathon training. It starts in one month!

I am doing great collecting money for our coaches. I have well over $450. I am sure more will want to give me money tomorrow night. I have a few who already promised me. I hope they come through because I need to buy the gift cards tomorrow.

Morning girls,

We had a fun/busy weekend. DS14 had a tournament, 2 games Saturday, 2 Sunday. He played 16 and under so it was a mostly different group of boys. Mostly freshmen/sophomores and DS and 2 other 8th graders. It was a really hot weekend and we could see the beginnings of a fire from the pool, but luckily they got it put out really quickly!
Saturday night the parent club at DS10's school had their "art gala" its the only adult only event they do, basically it is a cocktail party with hors d'oerves and a silent art auction. They auction a project from each class. Several years ago when liberal arts were cut from the school budget several parents decided they didn't want them to go, so they have a limited visual and performing arts program paid for by things like this fundraiser. It was really fun!

Cindy, it seems odd that more freshman live off campus than in the dorms at DD's new school. It makes more sense to move off campus as kids get more responsible. I'm sure DD is responsible enough to manage though.

MK, I got rid of all of my fat clothes and then I bought more. They are still smaller than the original fat clothes, but larger than the ones I wore for quite some time.

Debbie, great job on the race this weekend! You should be so proud of you!

Morning Kelly!
That's exactly what I was afraid I'd end up doing!!
Sigh.

Sounds like a fun weekend - though I'm ready for a little less busyness - how about you?

I am DEFINITELY ready for less busyness! Last weekend sorta wrapped up the spring league so that's good! DS10 has 2 more games (but not until mid May) and both boys have a tournament in 3 weeks. DS14 has his last (ever, boo hoo) MS game Wed. afternoon. Its away and against their bitter rival team. (should be fun, as their parents are almost always ugly sports parents) So, after this week, the sports stuff will be sporadic on the weekends, but normal routine practice times for a while! YEAH!

The school stuff always gets crazy hectic from now until the end of the year. I'm hopeful though that at least this week the kids will have less (or no) homework since its testing week for elem. and MS students. (fingers crossed for DS14)

Oh, and MK, I know you'll relate, after last weeks freak shark attack north of us, I had the "you shouldn't let the boys do jr. guards/surf/boogie board/get in the ocean at all conversation with my mom. Yes, its really sad, but it hasn't happened since 1959, I think the odds are in their favor ocean vs. freeway.

Typical Monday and had to rush out the door. With a jacket. Snow missed us, so I'm glad of that.

Got some new roses over the weekend and I need to go clean that flowerbed out as it's full of grass and weeds already.

Hellos all around to my favorite friends. Will indie later, ok? Kisses, K

Peeking in to say hi........

Cold here and flurries, but no snow stuck to anything, thank goodness!

All this talk of school stuff - I am counting the days to be done, right along with DD18. I think the only thing I have left is Senior Awards Assembly and Graduation - I relinquished all duties of parent club to my Assist Coordinator this year..........and to think I will never have to call anyone in for anything ever again.......

Cindy - it's a great feeling, isn't it!

Kelly - yeah - though I'm sure we'll be telling our children something similar . . . don't do this or that!

Debbie - it's been a crazy spring. It's not warm enough here to do anything in the flowerbeds!

Today we had rain, sleet, sun, clouds, and it's about 47 right now - supposed to be 38 tonight!

I.am.so.tired.of.this.

DS15 has too much homework to go to swim practice so I don't have to leave the house the rest of the night!! Yay!

I think that a challenge is a good idea-everybody set a goal for this week and report in. What say you?

My goal is to remain OP and drink 72 ounces of water each day.

Mother's Day- I will have to think about that

Cindy, it is supposed to snow here, too !!! One of the teachers told me today that we have 36 days left in class-I am now counting down! (I find that really sad-I should be sad to leave my students, not excited. Don't you think that is sad?)

Debbie, your goal sounds great-especially giving yourself a break. Are you a type A personality???

Kelly, that art gala sounds like so much fun!!!

Kaye, I need to get my flower beds cleaned out, too-winter did me no favors!

Making pumpkin shannycake muffins. YUM!

Just to outdo Ange, and. LOL.

Cindy, are you ready for the new SuperCharge book? Miss Alyss and I are going to hit Borders at 9 in the morning. And I can maybe read some of it while she naps after we get home.

MK, so you said yesterday that the siggy was for me, which siggy, just curious. I actually read them all to John because I thought they all were so meaningful. I really like the middle one about making the most of what you have, etc. I liked that one A LOT.

A girl that I worked with at the daycare (she's a single Mom, 21 years old and her last day was this past Thursday) called me today and asked me if I could do Thursday night meetings. She said she's inspired with my 15 pound loss (glad somebody is... haha) and that she wanted to join but doesn't want to go alone because she's never done anything like this before. She said before she had Chandler she was naturally thin, could eat whatever she wants. She gained 65 pounds with her pregnancy and lost some, but has put some back on and I told her last week that I've lost 15.7 but have 54 to lose to get back to my WW lifetime goal. That's what she has to lose, so she wondered if we could do it as a buddy system. So, needless to say, I'm going to do it with her. I've wanted someone to buddy up with for a long time and it seems everyone that is fat around me is happy being fat and John and Kim don't have excess weight to lose (darn them. LOL. I'm thankful that they don't) so this will be good. Andrea is such an upbeat person, but feels down on herself cuz of her weight, she'd be beautiful when she gets to goal, and she's a giving person so I know she'd help me just as I'd help her. So, we're gonna give it a whirl.

Alyssa and I took our first ever wagon ride yesterday, don't know if I told you guys or not. Tomorrow we may be sledding. haha. We have the furnace on again, what the heck is with the weather???? I'm ready for spring, so lets just get on with it. I agree we can't plant flowers yet and I'm ready to get some set in the ground.

John goes to Arizona next Monday and will be home on Friday. The kids move on Saturday, we'll probably have Miss Alyss quite a bit this weekend, but that's fine, she's a good kid, active as hell but good. You'd think I would be thin. Maybe as the weather gets warmer she'll encourage me to go on walks. I bet she will!!!!

Everyone have a great Tuesday. See ya.

Kaye, the weeds are never ending with a little sun aren't they. I'm sure your roses will be gorgeous!

Cindy, I'm beginning to transition my parent club duties at the MS One of the elem. parent club president's stopped me today to ask me to please do one more year because she thinks I'm easier to work with than the person that will follow me. Hmmm, gee, no MS student next year, tough call on that one. (it feels good!)

MK, I'm sure we will try to tell our kids how to raise their kids too, but still, frustrating. Actually, she's made progress she didn't immediately assume it was close to us.

Ange, good plan. We're counting the days here too. The art gala was fun Saturday night. It makes sense to have the kids art projects showcased at the fundraiser that pays for the arts programs. And, it was nice to bid on the kids projects when you know the money pays the art and drama teachers salaries.

Morning!

Off to the Y this morning!

Becky - how cool is that that you are an inspiration to Andrea - see what you are not only doing for yourself, but for others too?

I HAVE to get that book, but not sure when I will be able to check out Sam's - maybe today, but probably tomorrow....

Kelly - was that lady serious about you doing one more year without a student at the MS??? Don't even think that is a decision!

So we are doing a challenge for May then??? I am in......and May is Thursday already!!!

Have a great day girlies; will pop in if I can later!

Tuesday! No snow here (yet) but continued frost warnings for overnight tonight. We have sheets covering a bunch of stuff out there! Never got to the grassy, weedy flowerbed, went out to eat instead! Was really just too tired and unmotivated.

Deb, Congratulations on your race time on Sunday! You're awesome, we're so proud of you!!

Cindy, I'll bet you have a mixture of relief and sadness ending your parent club duties as your DD graduates. The 'no more phone calls' part is really the best!!

Becky, You're new diet buddy sounds like a nice young woman. As much as I love my children, having them permanently alters your body, and not in good ways! The wagon ride must have been cute.

Kelly, I swear, you have the coolest fundraisers! For some reason, our schools always pic to sell stuff no one wants!

MK, one of our favorite Mystery Science Theater 3000 movies, the title screen says "Attack of the the Eye Creatures" and no one caught it. The extra 'the' is an easy one for the brain to overlook!

Ange, any fast bites on your house? I do hope it sells quickly and your plans can go forward. I guess we're down to about that many days of school left here too.

Big waves to Barb and Connie, and all our 'need to post' Shorties.
Must get myself out the door.
Hugs, K

Happy Tuesday Short Friends. You know there is no where else in my day or in my life that I can truly say that. I do have some short friends but don't speak to them daily.

Becky, you inspire so many. You are a good mom, wife, grandmom, co worker and friend and you also inspire me through the "net". You are doing great with your eating. It is so exciting the kids are moving into their first house. They are so lucky to be near you. We never had that. My mom did come to help us when we moved here and it was very nice. Michael was 3 when we moved here. He now going to be 17 May 9.

Cindy, your daughter is lucky she has people to live with. Hopefully you can find a place they don't have to furnish. My son had an apartment his second year and I had to buy him a bed and other furnature which doesn't even exist any more. Then he had his next apartment and I bought a futon that was such a mess when he moved out they dumped it. I still have some of his furnature in my garage and basement.

Kelly, I didn't realize both your boys will be in HS next year. That should simplify some things for you. I remember when I had a kid in each level of school.

Kaye, I so need to weed but I don't want to kill my back. Every year I do the gardens I end up with spasms and pain so my gardens are looking pathetic and I should hire someone to come do it. I need a professional design person to do something and it has been on my list a long time.

MK, I will be running less this month. My long runs will not be over 8 miles I think. I am still aiming for 4 days a week though. I have to maintain my base for the next training program which is Half Marathon training again. I can't believe how time flies.

So May goals. Not sure what kind of goal I can manage to keep. I will try to stay on the healthy eating goal and the not to go overboard on exercise goals. These were my New Years goals too. I will not aim for perfection. I can't manage that one. I like to eat too much and try to not cut any one food completely out of my diet.

Busy day here. I have to run and go to the gym and grocery store. I have to get gift cards for coaches and tonight have party for the end of the program.I have laundry going. This week is busy period. My husband is race director for race on Sunday. I will be helping him do things. I have baby naming for my cousin's baby Sunday. This is the baby called Maisie. I bought a gift a card and card for that occasion already but youngest needs clothes to wear.

Have a great day girls.

Hi to all the I have missed. Hope Jenn not effected by the tornadoes in southern VA.
