My youngest won't be able to go away to college. He is total ADD nighmare. He will be taking developmental noncredit classes until he gets what he needs to take a real college course. This will probably extend school at least a year. I don't know if he will ever take more then 3 classes at a time either.

My second kid made it through but by the skin of his teeth in some classes. He had to take math twice. All and all he managed. His ADD not as bad but it does impact him.

There is nothing wrong with a community college even if it is for a year and then he goes off to a regular 4 year program again. This happens to lots of kids.

Ange, that is fantastic that you have the job.It will make getting a mortgage that much easier. Teachers always get the best benefits too. Your husbands may cost more and you may be able to save money switching to yours. Now all you need to do is sell your house.

As for Idol.I like Brooke but I think it will come down to the two Davids and David Cook is a better sound for selling records. I like the young David but Cook is more interesting to watch and to listen to.

Waiting for my husband so I can light the grill. The chicken is marinating and the potatoes are roasting. Guess I should go make our salad.

My hair was the right color and is a bit dark as it when I first color it. I really don't need a hair cut tomorrow. After I made my bed and finished my hair I took a nap.I was really tired today. I will not sleep tonight. I wanted to stay up to watch Top Chef so that is good.

Hugs to you MK. Your son is probably disappointed but there are some positives in living home. Home cooking. Mom to do your laundry etc. There are also friends who didn't go away still around.

Kaye I was in college at 17 but boy was I young and immature. I kept my two older boys back a year and it was better they went to college a year older them most of their classmates. My youngest is also immature!! Even worse then his brothers.

MK, I too went to college later in life. I would have never been able to handle it earlier. I really believe that going later can be extremely beneficial. He will have to pick himself up, dust off and look at the advantages of the situation (later when he is feeling a bit less blue of course.) On the other hand-the disappointment could be exactly what he needs as external motivation to make some necessary changes so that success comes later when he tries again!

The job is in middle school-ESOL language arts. The kids speak English but lack reading and writing skills. It is in a poverty stricken area with some behaviour problems but lots of support. I am SOOOOO excited! I will be the only ESL teacher in the school

gotta help ds with homework...

I started college at 17 too Debbie - therefore the following confession:

Two immature (Cut off for school was December back then and I was a Sept baby) to handle school....I too, got put on academic probation and had to go before a review board before I could stay in school.

Maybe Ange is right and it's just the motivation he needs to pull up his boot straps and move forward.

College is not easy - and I believe - and I recruit remember - that this is a huge step for a kid coming out of HS. I don't think MOST are ready to handle the rigors of college.......

Cindy, it's bad when you try to figure out if there is some sort of minor surgery you can have in order to get extended time off. Just know, I'm extremely jealous of you right now. LOL

Whoa! Don't hurt yourself there. LOL Congrats though. It has to be a huge relief!

MK, we live thinking it will be easier when our kids graduate from high school, only to find it is sometimes harder. When they are little you can fix things for them. When they are bigger......it is such a helpless feeling. Though it may not seem like it now, things happen for a reason. At some point you and your ds will do the THAT'S why that happened. That is pretty much a promise!

Debbie, It's nice to know I am not the only one that succumbs to the nap knowing I will not sleep later.

I missed AI but have read some of the hubba balloo about it. It sounds like Paula made a real boo boo and gave her opinion on BOTH songs that one of the kids sang. And he had only sang ONE. Makes it look really bad for the show, like the judges have scripts.

Thanks chicas!

I think going to the CC would have been easier if he'd started there and it would have been his decision.

Well the final verdict isn't in yet - maybe he'll pull a rabbit out of his hat!

Barb - I'm holding you to that promise!

Cindy - and you turned out fabulous!

Ange - what a great job!!

Deb - I'd already decided that I'd cook, but he was doing his own laundry!

My middle son does his own laundry but I tend move it the dryer and if he throws things in with ours I do it. He washes aprons and chef jacket every day but does his stuff once a week.

I was a November baby with a Dec 1 cut off. I made the cut off by 5 days. I was tiny and they had to put blocks under my feet do they reached the floor at my desk. My mom always wished she kept me back a year. My oldest repeated first grade when I sent him to private school. He became a straight A student after that. My middle son did a year of Pre K at the private school. My youngest had a May birthday and I sent him to school. The delay wouldn't have helped him. A kid with LDs needs help not a delay of a year. He was diagnosed in first grade.

Speaking of son's oldest was just here for his Wednesday visit before he plays basketball. Middle son had his friend here for dinner the one I call my
4th son. They just took youngest to Rita's for fruit ice.

Here is what I think happened to Paula. They hear the singers in rehersal and she had already prepared what she was going to say. I think switching to two songs just through her off. It was a giant brain fart but made her look bad.

Personally I think Paula says too much and I fast forward through her comments all the time.

My predicition is that Jason will be thrown off this week but then I thought he was going last week and look what happened.

I like Wednesdays. First Idol then Top Chef.

Thursdays has Lost and ER on at the same time which is really a pain. I will watch Lost and tape ER. ER is going down hill lately anyways.

MK, I'm here if you need to talk. Actually here the community college is a norm. People either go to Wright State University (4 year college) or Sinclair Community College (2 year for associates) and John got his Industrial Engineering CERTIFICATE at Sinclair, only has about 3 classes to go to earn his associate, but he's so busy at work he doesn't have time for that. He's worked his way up from a machinest, to a technician and now he's site manager for Perkin-Elmer Miamisburg plant and has about 52 people under him, the down side is if there's a problem, it's his butt that gets reamed for it.

I had Alyssa tonight but Kim got out of class early, so since John had to go out to dinner with customers I am just hanging out here for a while. Brad is closing so she'd be by herself, so would I so we're just hanging out and drinking coffee together while I write to "my computer buddies". Man, don't you guys wish you could get out of the laptop and just stretch a little instead of being cramped up in the laptop???

Ange, CONGRATS on your job offer. This is great news. Things seem to be looking up for you, I will keep you in my prayers that your house sells quickly. Did you ever get shoveled out of the mounds of snow that was clear up to your windows? That might help to sell a house. LOL.

The stupid guys started mowing the grass at the apartments here at 8 p.m. and it has scared Alyssa to death. I couldn't get her in her crib, now Kim is trying. Each time she lays her down she starts sobbing. Thank God this hopefully will end next weekend, they close on the 9th and move on the 10th. It doesn't help that Kim said she didn't nap this afternoon either so she's probably exhausted.

Well... I weighed in today and I gained .2 pounds. I usually weigh at the Friday weigh in at 7:00 and this was a noontime weigh in (didn't eat breakfast, but I think it's still enough of a later weigh in) plus I cut myself short by 2 days. I have the kind of body that IF I lose, it's usually on day 6 or 7. Plus, I had that big loss last week, and usually when that happens my body decides it's going to skip out the next week, so I did really good last week and I'm not going to get discouraged.

See you guys tomorrow, I'll probably be heading home soon, got to read my new South Beach book, right Cindy? Did you get your book yet? I got about 2 pages and decided that Alyssa had worn me out so I just closed the book up and went to bed. Going to try to get a little read before John gets home.

Darn it, I missed it tonight cuz I have Alyssa and Kim and Brad have Dish tv and they don't have the local channels right now (they will when they move) so Cindy, can you email me and tell me who got voted off? I voted last night for the black girl to stay, I thought she has a pretty voice. I don't even watch AI but I did last night because I LOVE Neil Diamond, I have ever since I was 13 and my bro bought his record, when I was 15 my Mom and I went to see him in concert, I've seen him 3 times and he's suppose to start touring this year so he'll probably come to the Nutter Center and I want to take my Mom, since she'll be 81 in August, I want to see Neil Diamond with her one more time, if you know what I mean.

Good morning Thursday!

Ange! I love seeing your house! And I second "it's SO CLEAN!!" Such a lovely home, I hope you can find one in KS that is just as pretty. I wonder if my house would look neater and be nicer if it was described in French!! (wishful thinking!!)

MK, continued hugs for things to calm down and settle at your house. There are so many options to consider, including working it out so he can go back to the same school. I know most give second (and third) chances since it's a common Freshman problem. My nephew had to write a sincere letter asking and they let him come back (twice!). Hopefully DS will be honest and discuss what he really wants, and not just tell you what he thinks you want to hear. ((((hugs))))

Cindy, Barb, Deb, I don't watch AI so I am out of the loop with all that. But like where Becky was at DDs, we didn't have local channels on satellite until this past month so almost never watched anything on broadcast because it came in so crappy!

Will be warming up nicely today. Can you believe I still haven't cleaned out that flower bed?? Too cold, too windy, too tired....etc. LOL. I should be crowned "Mrs. Procrastination" this week!

Work has been kicking my azz these past couple weeks, seems all our jobs are large, many boxes, and heavy lately. Even with my shorter, part-time hours, it still wipes me out.

Am going to celebrate "May Day" by wearing yellow today! Have a good one gals!

Ange, I love your house. The wood floors, the open floor plan, the kitchen opening to the deck and the great tub in the master to name some of the highights. It is clean and not cluttered and should show very well. Put some flower pots by the front door and bring them in over night until it gets warmer. I watch way too many home shows like House Hunters and your house is a winner!

American Idol- well Jason should have been in the bottom two. I am not suprised Brooke is gone. Next week should be Jason's turn unless he changes the way he is performing. I guess it depends on who they will be singing next week.

Anyone watching the Today Show every morning to see where Matt is? I never can guess with the clues. My youngest likes to see where he is and actually watches the show instead of Saved by The Bell.

Lets see what is in store today? Pilates and upper body workout. Hair cut and a trip to Costco to buy food for Sunday's race and for my house. I have quite a list so I see it costing alot of money. Race food will be reimbursed. Run tonight and dinner out with club friends. I also have to drop of prescriptions to be refilled and pick them up from CVS. I got the doctor to increase youngest med to see if it helps with his anxieties. He has been on the same dose forever but he has grown a ton.

So Cindy what does May 1st mean to you?? Start of our challenge I guess. Well I really don't have any grand goals. I should but I just can't control my eating lately so trying to allow myself to eat in moderation. Oh and taking a break from hard running for the month but will keep running 4 days a week.

MK, hope things are going better with the DS. It will all work out in the end and as always things happen for a reason.

Barb, hope you are off of work for a few days after 4 12 hour shifts in a row.

Kaye, hope work settles down for you. Oh well it is Thursday and the week will end.

Kelly, did you get alot done yesterday? Hope your May isn't too Gray!

I guess I can go eat breakfast. I have to wait an hour after taking Thyroid meds. Waiting for bus which has been on time this week for a change. It is when there is a sub they drop the ball so badly.

Good morning shorties. I'm on my way in a little bit after I get myself presentable to the public, of course, to get either a battery for my Tweetie watch or maybe, just maybe a new Tweetie watch. I had one watch, wore it out, had another, wore that one out, and then got this one and the battery went dead about 8 years ago and John told me it was time for a Big Girl watch. But I got Alyssa a DVD at Kroger on the bargain DVD table of the Baby Looney Tune characters and she LOVED it, and she kept kissing the tv when Baby Tweetie was on, so I thought I would get the old one up and running and wear it for her to see. haha.

I only watched this one idol because I usually either have Eastern Star or Amaranth on Wednesday nights IF I don't have Alyssa but I heard that Neil Diamond was going to be the mentor, and well... I would lay my life down, well???? maybe not that far, but I love him pretty damn much. I have since my bro got Neil's 1st album when I was 13 and then I talked my Mom into taking me to see him in concert when I was 15. I've seen him 3 times and hopefully when he starts touring this fall Mom and I can go again. She really wants to see him again, she said, since she's getting "up there", heck, she's 80 and is doing pretty darn good but at that age anything can happen. So, when the tickets go on sale for the Nutter Center (where he's gone for the past few times) I'm going to get us a pair of tickets.

Where's MK??? Just think, if John hadn't gone to the community college, and if I hadn't gone (I never finished, there was only money for him to go and since he was the main breadwinner, he went. And then we had Kim, and then... well, you get the picture) then we would have never met. Or as Kim refers to it as, "if my Mom hadn't picked my Dad up I wouldn't be here." Smart A$$ Kid!!!

Debbie, I didn't know that you take Thyroid meds? They discovered my low thyroid in October of last year, at the same time as the breast lump scare, and my hypoglycemia and the high cholesterol. As John says, the month that I came close to falling apart. I take synthroid, which is what my Mom takes. My Mom's 82 year old sister has had low thyroid since her middle daughter was born and she'll be 48 this year. I think Mom was diagnosed maybe when Kim was about 6 or so, can't remember exactly, but it's been awhile. I have a younger 2nd cousin that is 38 and she was diagnosed about 8 years ago or so.

Love, Love, LOVE your home, Ange. I hope that you find a home here that is just as pretty and that you love. Is your son happy to be moving back to the states? Does your hubby have a job lined up here? Did you take a shower and use your deo today, just kidding. I was just on a roll and thought that I would throw that in there.

No Miss Alyss today, her Daddy is closing so I might go over tonight to hang out with Kim since John will be working late. He's not sure if he's going to Arizona or not, he and the PhD that is in charge of one of the programs that they're working on are firing some parts off today, 45 fired fine yesterday but they have 54 to fire tonight and if they don't fire, I guess he and the PhD will stay back and work on ironing out the problems. It doesn't matter to me if he goes, I don't really like being alone all week and all that I have planned in the evenings is dinner at Red Lobster on Tuesday with Kim and Alyssa. I have Alyssa on Monday night and Wednesday night this coming week for Kim to go to school cuz Brad's closing those days.

Talk to you all tonight, hopefully. I'm starting Alyssa's 5x7 Cinderella picture in count-cross stitch and I was hoping to have it done for her new room, but it may be just a tad late. I need to get to working on it though while she's still little enough to want it hanging in her room. Hopefully, I won't be making a Hannah Montana pic or a Bratz one when she gets older, haha. If I knew where the Care Bear one that I started for Kim and never finished was I'd finish that too, Kim got out of the Care Bear stage before I finished it and I didn't have as much time then to work on it, that's why it never got done, I had a little one under foot and didn't have the time to finish it.

Toodles ladies, have a great day. Hi to all that I didn't get indi's to.

Cindy, do you have a South Beach anniversary this week or is it next week? What day did you start it? Did you get the book yet, I couldn't sleep last night, was to wound up from being with Alyssa so at 1:30 I got up and read it for a half hour, but I had to read a few pages over cuz, like I said, I was too wound up. You'll have to let me know what you think of the book.

Becky, my son and I are both on Thyroid meds. He has Hashimotos Thyroid which is an autoimmune disease. He has been on the same dose forever. I went off the med when I was borderline and started it again maybe 3-4 months ago and then my numbers actually got higher and she increased my dose. Do I feel any different? No.

I slept terribly last night. I should never have napped. I woke up dripping in sweat! Gotta love perimenopause. Just wish the periods would end!!!

I still haven't made breakfast but then of course I nibbled on the dry cereal my son had and it was nice and sweet.

Morning girls,

For those that asked, I ended up going for coffee with a couple of friends yesterday morning, 2 hours later... Anyway, it was a better way to start the morning. I did get some yard work done, most of the outside toys put away, chair fort dismantled and chairs put away, some weeding and general sweeping...

DS14's team lost their game yesterday and it was a heartbreaker/nail biter. The crowd wasn't ugly, just general cheering, but the other team went ahead by one with less than 30 seconds left, we got the ball, our coach called a timeout (with 5 seconds on the clock) the boys got the play off, their best shooter took a shot, but it didn't go in. After that, they didn't want to stay to watch the other 2 teams play and DS14 and his friend in the car were really down on themselves.

Ange, I will third the you house is adorable and so clean! Wow, your floors are shiny! Your kitchen looks very much like mine in our Ky. house. I think we had the same counter top, and floors and my cabinets were white too.

MK, it sounds like DS19 is having a severe injury to his pride with the college "problem" It will all work out but in the meantime, this is for you,

Debbie, how fun that you are planning to take your mom to a concert! That's awesome!

Ange, The job sounds great! Challenging AND rewarding!

Becky, (not Debbie, it wouldn't let me change it) how fun that you are planning to take your mom to a concert! That's awesome!

Debbie, I'm not big on breakfast, sometimes I have to make myself eat something. Usually, our mornings are hectic and I end up with coffee only until the boys are off to school.

Cindy, what begins on May 1st?

Kaye, I'm having a Ms. Procrastination week too. You should have joined me for coffee at Panera yesterday instead of cleaning your flower beds, it was much more fun.

Barb,

I rented Juno last night, but ended up watching Goonies with the boys, so I'll have to watch it tonight before its due tomorrow.

My son bought Juno but I haven't watched it. Maybe husband and I can do that Saturday night.

Kelly, I think my mom would like Neil Diamond but she lives in Florida.

I made it to the gym and drug store. Need to go back to pick up prescriptions. My hair cut is at 1pm and I should have delayed it a week because I like my hair but she can trim it. Of course it will still cost me $50 plus a tip for the hairdresser and the shampoo lady. I love being shampooed it is so relaxing.

I am not looking forward to crazy Costco. It is always crowded.

The warm weather we were supposed to have isn't happening and it is really gray out. Where is spring???

Kelly, sad they lost the game.

OK I better go eat lunch because I won't be home for at least 3 hours. I have one piece of chicken left and some salad.

Hooray, Hooray, it's the first of May! Outdoor __________ begins today!

I can't even write it in there - have none of you ever heard of this saying??? Maybe it's a regional thing! We all say it around these parts!

Yup. Must be regional! Never heard that saying, but if the blank is dirty I can sure put in a bunch of choice words I know!! Still a little chilly in my opinion for that though....

Another day of heavy boxes. Getting tired of this. I've been stuck in shipping for months now. I must not have screwed anything up yet because he keeps putting me there! I wonder if I should send something wrong to get out of it!! (J/K)

Kelly, 2 hour coffee at Panera sounds like a much better plan to me!

Deb, I didn't know your son had Hashimoto's, it's a tough diagnosis so I'm glad they figured it out for him. Get all your errands done?

Becky, loved your story about meeting hubby at community college! Much sweeter than me picking DH up at a bar, intending to just play with him for the night then set him free! 21 years later.......whoda thunk?

MK, hope you're having a quiet day at home and stress free for today.

Ange, your new job sounds challenging and exciting, perfect for you! I'm so happy for you!

Hellos across the board to any and all. Thinking of making Eggs Benedict for dinner, sound good?
