Let's Lose 5~*~April 14 - 20~*~

Didn't see a thread, so here we are!

Happy Monday!

Had a quiet weekend. Didn't go biking...rainy off and on Saturday...warm and humid though...yesterday was dreary and cold. Went to Kohl's on Saturday... it was a zoo and the dressing room lines were long, so I didn't bother trying anything on. Saw a couple of things I liked, but it wasn't worth the wait and didn't want to keep the bf waiting. He got a couple of shirts and a few other things, but I left empty-handed! Can you believe it?

Saw a good friend yesterday and had dinner with her. It was a nice visit.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

Patty - I had a 20% off coupon from Kohl's that I let expire! But I had just been there a few days before so didn't both. I have never found a thing at Stein Mart (except shoes) and went there Friday night to see if I could find a pair of brown dressy sandals. They had a big 50% off sale. I found a cute skirt and top but neither were marked down. I still got the skirt for $9 and the top for $13. Made me want to go back and look for some more good deals but I resisted.

Weekend went by way too fast. Jim got home late on Friday night and had to leave again yesterday at noon. We didn't do much other than put in lighting in our flowerbeds. I had forgot about them until this morning. They looked good! No cheating but no change on the scale.

and guess what I found when we cleared out all of ed's stuff? An elliptical! it needs some TLC, but it works! The kids were using it all day yesterday. Allen said "Mom the basement will be a great exercise room" Great minds think a like Allen!

Patty left Kohl's empty-handed??

Hey, Karen, what kind of lighting? Those little low-voltage things?

Yay, Kim - a roof is good!

There is talk of our street getting paved today (it's a gravel road ... dead end ... 6 houses) so I moved my car up the road. It was raining hard this a.m., though ... not sure what kind of weather they need.

The baby shower was so fun yesterday ... she got a lot of cute little boy things. Her daughter (age 2) had a great time tearing open the wrappings ... such a cutie. She is sked for a C-section since daughter was a C and we are too remote from facilities to allow her to try a VBAC.

Another tennis friend went to Hawaii for birth of first grandchild and that baby died 4 days later ... so that was a sad note.

Shocker, isn't it?

Karen - I've never been to Stein Mart! That might be a good thing though. Nice that you still got those items discounted!

Kim - Crossing my fingers for a dry Wednesday! The elliptical was a great find! I'd love to own one.

Linda - Oh my, how very sad about the baby. Was it SIDS?

Lots of shopping this weekend - did some of my own too. I was saying to my mom, as we headed to the mall, "gee, next year I'll have to get something a bit nicer for Jared with his 8th grade graduation and confirmation." Later we walk into JCPenny's and there on a clearance rack was a suit jacket and then a matching pair of pants (different sizes but that really didn't matter). Each piece was originally $74.99 and the mark down that day was $1.97 each! I got a $150.00 suit for $3.94! The jacket was an 18 so that should still work for him in a year (if not my mom can rig something since she can sew much better than I) and the pants were a 16 so hopefully he'll stay close to what he is now, but if not, my mom will come up with some solution for $3.94! Also, picked up a cheetah girls 2 piece dress for the little one for $4.24 and a couple of other deals. Then I went home and pulled out some of their stuff for a rummage - buy something, get rid of something is my motto.

No idea what I weigh today.

Tried sending DD off to school when there was no school today - - dang, I could have stayed in bed another hour too.

Well, got to get some stuff done and help a classroom.

I had a good Monday - even with no cook (but my assistant basically did it all) and I hope you all had a good one too.

Happy Tuesday.

My week has started off about the same as last week ended off...or I should say never seemed to end at all since I had to work most of Saturday hosting site visits at our free tax-prep sites for our partners from Chicago (the ones who host the big annual conference I go to and pay my way). They are here until today so yesterday I had to take them around to meet many of our partners, take them to lunch, to dinner, and in between had a huge annual meeting that too all day Friday and Sunday to prepare for. I get to pay my taxes today (very traumatic ) and have another "high drama" meeting tomorrow. Hopefully Thursday will bring some peace them I'm taking a mental health day on Friday for a long, quiet, peacefull weekend (I hope ).

The good news is that I FINALLY finished The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James after more than a year of trying. I was determined that book would not get the better of me and it didn't! Need to find something easy and brainless to read now.

Patty, our guests from Chicago were SICK from the heat and humidity here on Saturday. It rained later then cooled WAY down to the mid-60s over the weekend (after being in the mid-80s) and they were very relieved since they had to spend four days here. I need to get to Kohl's, they carry a line of Addidas sweats that are gray with a white and pink stripe...I got the sweatshirt a couple of months ago but they were out of my size in the pants and I can't find them anywhere else.

Karen, Steinmart is my least favorite of the big three (with Marshall's and TJMaxx). It is by far the nicer of the three stores but I don't find the deals there that I do at the other two. Great buys you got there!

Kim, sweet! How can you overlook an eliptical, though? Sending some good vibes for a sunny week for you.

Linda, what a sad time for that family. Did the street pavers come?

Renee, wow, you really got some DEALS!

Kim - An eliptical is the one peice of equipment I don't have. Would definitely be nice to have a workout room. Right now, I have something in every room! Praying for sunshine on Wednesday. Are you taking the day off so you can keep an eye on the roofer (didn't you choose the eye candy guy?)?

Renee - What wonderful deals!

Linda - We put out solar lighting around our flowerbeds. I'd been watching for sales and finally found one at Big Lots.

Susan - You definitely deserve a long weekend of rest and relaxation. I'm in the middle of reading a Barbara Delinsky book. Last night I realized I've read it before, but I can't remember how it ends so I'll keep on reading.

Patty - My oldest, Crystal, wears a size 4 1/2 or 5 and Steinmart is the only place she can find them. That's why I started going there for shoes. First time I've ever wandered into the clothing section.

Scale down .4 today and clothes fitting a little better. I still have a ways to go though.

We received a letter from the land developer that says we can't cut down any trees without the architectural committee approval and if we do, then it is a $1,000 fine per tree. There is a $250 fee to submit the request for anything (home, trees, landscaping, etc) and if they turn down your request, then you have to pay submit a new request. Our lawyer has not been able to get anyone to return her call about them buying back the property. Jim and I have come to the realization that we will never build there and might as well kiss the $55,000 goodbye. We will look for property elsewhere and have to build a smaller house.

Between that news and the barking dogs next door, I was VERY ticked last night. I took out my frustration by mopping the kitchen floor. Later when I went in there to put everything back in it's place, I realized the trash can was leaking. I dripped brown stuff all over the fresh mopped floor, trying to get the trash can outside (it's one of those wooden ones that matches my kitchen cabinet. I was really ticked by then so remopped and went to bed.

Today has to be a better day!

Kim- No spotlights (Chelsey's bedroom window is in the front) and we didn't like the two pack of solars that was on sale. The ones we got were 8 for $20 which was a better deal. They snapped together really easy and were already partially charged. Glad Pam will be on the lookout for you.

Good morning!

Took Spike for a nice walk yesterday evening...went about 4 miles. It's still on the cool side, but that makes for GREAT walking weather. By Thursday, it's supposed to be in the 70s , so you know what that means...

Renee - Super deals!

Susan - Egads! You are due for a nice long weekend! It can take me a year to read a book! LOL

Karen - Solar lights are nice! I bet they look great! Oh wow, how disappointing about the land. Kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth, doesn't it? Hope you find another lot that you'd be just as happy with. ::crossing fingers::

Kim - Too bad you can't take the day off and enjoy the eye candy!

Well, Karen, damm!! Was that what you paid for the lot? But you'll be able to sell it eventually, won't you? SOMEONE will want to build there.

I'm trying to read "Alaska" but it's due Thursday and I'm only about 1/6 of the way through!

Wow, S, you're one busy executive!

I'd guess you'd be getting on your bike, Patty!

Hope the roof project goes well, Kim.

I think Lynn is in Texas ... peeked in the Angels thread.

Gotta hop in the shower ... my class this afternoon.

Linda - we could probably sell it eventually but can't put up a for sale sign (another rule they have) and the development still has lots for sale. Problem is, we need the money we purchased that lot for to buy another lot. Lawyer read what they sent us and said that the cutting down of trees approval/penalty only applies when our house is under construction but not right now. Huh?

Kim - what did you think about the Biggest Loser? I was very pleased with both winners! Most people looked amazing although there were a few that didn't appear to lose anything after leaving the Ranch.

Patty - you walk longer in one afternoon than I do in an entire week! I'm so glad things are going good for you and BF. You deserve it!

Chelsey registered for her summer classes and Uncle Buck's has come through once again. She registers next week for her fall classes and if she can get the three she needs (and pass), she will graduate in December. I'm trying not to put pressure on her but when she told me that I wanted to shout out a big Yehaw!

Kim - is the sun shining there today? Hope the roofers can do their thing today.

Renee - any news on the job front for DH?

Susan - hope today is meeting free for you. How are the boys doing?

sun shiney day! woohooo so I should have a new roof when I get home tonight!

PLUS, Rob my neighbour said he can do the drywall in my bedroom AND the kitchen for $300 I'm so happy and excited that I am giddy!! Plus I've converted him into a Dave Ramsey-ite too LOL

Now just need to fight with the insurnace for the carpet as cleaning it did squat (which I knew it wouldn't anyways)

Karen I really wanted Roger to win. I highly commend ali, but it kind of bugs me she was voted off and then ended up coming back and winning. That just doesn;t sit right with me. I was really really really suprised that bernie beat Dan. I've never watched before this season...but it sure has inspired me to push it and hit 15 down today...want 25 by my birthday

Kim - I understand exactly what you are saying but I think Ali had it much harder because she was sent home. She lost more weight at home than some of the others did at the ranch (with nothing to do but exercise and no eating temptations). All the rest of those at home did not lose anywhere near those on the ranch. Anyway, I too watch the show because it encourages me - if those that are so severely obese can improve their health and appearance, then so can I (hope that came out right). I usually exercise with my handweights during the commercials.

Karen - I sure hope you get your money back somehow! That's a lot to fork out.

Kim - Glad the weather cooperated today! Great news about the neighbor!

Renee - Got my fingers crossed! Something has to come through soon for him!

Went to a greek-style restaurant for lunch and had a wonderful salad that included souvlaki (pork). It was yummy!

It's beautiful outside so I may go riding after work. We'll see...

Hi everyone...long time no see. I have been busy with work, but saw the comments on the Biggest Loser and wanted to add my 2 cents.

Sometimes the $100,000 winner has had the highest percentage of weight loss, and would have won if not eliminated. This time Ali won all-around - I believe she had Bernie beat by 2 percentage points. And it is harder for a woman (or for that matter, smaller me) to get to those numbers.

It was inspirational -- and boy could I use some inspiration!

I hadn't watched this season at all but I thought the winner looked great. She obviously had worked very hard. I hate all that personality stuff and "voting off" and stuff on that show ... wish they would just let the winner be the winner and spend the rest of the time giving us more info about how they do it. But it guess it was an offshoot of "Survivor" so it has to have all that stupid stuff.

We still don't have pavers either, Kim.

Hi, there, Tez!

I thought souvlaki was lamb, Patty? Or a lamb and beef mix.

I'm so sorry that whole lot purchase turned out so badly for you, Karen.

*fingers crossed for Mr. Hundt!*

It's girls afternoon out ... we are going to see Nim's Island.

It's traditionally pork. If it was lamb, I wouldn't eat it! Gyro meat is made of lamb.

Hi Tez!
