Suna, you don't have to worry about Birthday's. You are a young chick. Wait, until you turn 60 like this Old Hen. Ha, Ha...

Yes, I'm very glad I followed my mothers instructions and put that pool in when I did. She pestered me and told me to FIND a way to afford it.

(not really "pester", but strongly encouraged more like )

We had 4 good summers playing in the pool together. I know I'll fall apart the day I open the pool this year, missing her, but I'll just get DH to do some cannonballs in remembrance of her

Nope. I refuse to ever worry about how many candles are added to my cake, pie, or shortcake.

Vonnie (my friend) was in her very early forties, when I lost her a year ago last month in a car accident in the middle of the night....

We just never know when our time will be - why get hung up on something silly like worrying over how many birthdays we've had?

We SHOULD take notice of all those candles and be GRATEFUL. Life is to be celebrated.

Peskie I lost my Mom when she was 69 and my Dad when he was 70. Mom lived 3 years after Dad passed. Mom died on Jan. 15th of 1998 and my Grandmother died Jan.15th of 1960.

My accountability for today~
1: bologna and cheese rollups
2: inside of a sausage egg and cheese biscuit
3: hot peanuts
4: bunless hotdogs w/mustard, cheese and chili
5: low carb chocolate bar
6: sloppy joe w/o the bun

exercise: short walk

I *did* eat too much and know it. But, I'm not letting that defeat me. I did have a rough, emotional day with stress eating, but that's not an excuse for that behavior.

As a wise WIT once said "It's about choices..one at a time.. Every one of them should lead to who we want to be. We make time for what we really want to do..the rest is just excuses."

I chose to eat too much, nothing really "off plan", but too much isn't healthy regardless of whether it's on plan or not.

they couldn't get all the candles on my cake, so they bought me a 6 and a 0 and put them together. I was like having baby candles on my cake.

You have a point. Okay, pestered, but I loved it anyway.

On the cannonball comment....where it came from: every year, mommy would get in the water hammock and yell for my DH to do cannonballs and create waves for her. She'd "pester" him too....to do it over and over again because she thought it was cool.

And him and her play fought over the water hammock constantly. They were so cute playing together.

When my FIL turned 65, (I think 65) we DID put on every single ONE of his candles, then set the fire extinguisher next to the cake. It's in all the
pictures.

PERFECT!!!

I wish we'd thought of that for mom last year on her b-day. I still remember SO well her birthday dinner. We cracked up. Took her out to dinner and she ordered THREE different plates of food (2 appetizers and an entree). Much hungry, ma?

She'd have totally enjoyed the fire extinguisher thing. Maybe I'll do that to DH one day.

Peskie it's great that your DH had a good standing with your Mommy. A lot of SIL's don't even like their MIL's...

Yes, she was VERY strong willed. You know what?... She reminded me of the grandma of one of DH's best friends. Older and SO vivacious - and VERY strong willed (like your Mommy, Peskie!) - She told me one time, when we were at her house for a pool party:

"If I was younger, you would never have had your husband. I would have snatched him right up."

AND she wasn't just being playful. She meant EVERY word of it.

Peskie, not sure if you've done/plan to/or are in the process of doing it, though may I make a very strong suggestion?

Write down your memory of her birthday dinner, and others of late that were very special to you...

Russ lost his dad (His dad was I think 51) very unexpectedly before he turned 21 - and I know that a lot of the just "every day" memories have a way of slipping away. His dad died in '96...

Just... If you think of it... Take the time to write it down. Those pages will hold something ver special for you. You will thank yourself later.

I always said that I was going to make my SIL's love me and they both have told me that they love me, so I guess we are fine with each other.

I always felt bad toward my MIL because Henry's Brother told me right after I met him that she did not like me. I always had that in the back of my head all the years she lived, but never questioned her about it. Now whether she said that I have no idea, but sometimes it comes back to me and he shouldn't have told me that, in the first place.
That is why I said that my SIL's are going to love me, because I am a great MIL and they will tell you that.

Yes, suna, I agree about the writing down memories....that website I shared with you all that I put her pictures on, I've set aside a section of for writing memories down as I think of them.

It disturbs me sometimes how I have to "try" to pull some of my daddy memories up, despite how crazy I was over him and I want to always have her fresh in my mind.
