Ok I finally tried it with coffee. I'm not sure I like it much (but im not much of a coffee drinker either)
I could taste the egg in it, and for some reason it makes me gag lol.

When people premake the drinks to bring with them to work. do you mix it all together then mix and drink it? or do you make the egg mixture and mix it with the other beverage of choice later.
I brought the egg mixture with me and added the coffee later, so i'm thinking this may be the problem. Maybe i'll have to pre make it and bring it with me...

WOE: Atkins '72. . .pass the eggs!

OurLuv: I pre-make mine at home in the morning, stick it in the fridge all day, and when I'm ready for it, I nuke it (I like 'em hot) and buzz it in my magic bullet (yeah, I bring it to work with me when I'm going to have an egg cream there.)

Today for lunch I had a delicious "milkshake", egg cream-style:

3/4 cup almond breeze
1/4 cup half & half
2 oz cream cheese
1/2 tsp cocoa
splash hazelnut DaVinci's
1 scoop 0 carb/0 fat vanilla protein powder
2 egg yolks

Mmmmm. . .it was smooth and thick and creamy. . .I tossed it in the freezer for a few minutes just to get it extra cold. What a treat! I had never thought of adding egg yolks to my protein shake before, but I'm glad I tried it. I struggled to finish it, it was that filling. (But delicious. . .did I mention that?)

My mother used to make what she called Spanish Cream. It was basically eggs, sugar, gelatin and milk if I can recall correctly. Somehow I think she beat it and it became a little foamy and as it set, it got a gelatin base with a layer a more foamy on top. I loved it. I'll bet your egg cream/jello would be similar. I must give that a try. I get so tired of just plain sf gelatin and what a whollop of nutrients this would be as a snack.

Back for an update I made the jello egg cream again this time I let the jello sit in the fridge and firm up then I threw it in the food processor with everything and ground it up, it is soooooo good! My first 2 attempts didn't turn out good b.c I could taste/smell the egg a bit. The first time I made it warm with coffee and it wasn't that good to me and I ended up throwing it out. This morning I tried nuking the eggs for a min and they got cooked and you could smell and taste the eggs blech, this time is perfect I didn't nuke the eggs and I can't taste or smell a thing!!! Woohoooo!!

SleepyToast, I thought it was kinda funny that you drink the egg creams with coffee but with jello made you . I initially started out having them with coffee, and they are good, but I think it sounds worse than eggs with jello. (The thought made my sister gag!) If you like the flavor of jello, you really should try it. It's good!!

OurLuv, I've only taken an egg cream to have for lunch once, but when I did, it was with coffee and I mixed it all together and then poured it into my water bottle/container. When I was ready to eat it, I just shook it up and drank. It still tasted just perfect.

I had a strawberry jello egg cream for breakfast today. I think I'm going to mix up a lemon in just a little bit. It took me about an hour to finish my breakfast shake and by the time I got to the bottom it was reaaaalllyyy starting to thicken up. I don't think a jello one could be premade and refrigerated. I imagine it would get pretty thick. Good thing we have instant hot water at work so that I could make it from scratch pretty easily if I had to.

startingover - yeah, I just hate the idea of raw eggs - it makes me . I also try to be real careful since I have a 1 year old and 3 year old sharing it with me. I take about 2 T. half & half and 4 oz of water and mix that up. I then take the eggs and whisk that together and pop it in the microwave and stir it every minute. I end up cooking it for about 3 minutes. The eggs don't end up separated and cooked - it's just that it makes a nice warm custardy mixture when it's done. Then, when I blend it with frozen strawberries, splenda, pp, sour cream - I don't taste eggs at all.

I do like coffee - but don't like the idea of mixing eggs and coffee together. Again, I know it's a personal taste. I really like strawberry shakes.

I also have made chocolate peanut butter shakes in the past and will experiment soon to make this.

here's the ingredients I'll use

2 eggs
2 T. half & half
4 oz. water
1/2 scoop vanilla whey pp
1 T. peanut butter
1 T. cocoa powder
splenda
ice

occassionally I may leave the 1 T. cocoa powder out, so that I can make a peanut butter shake! Yum!

For those of you who think that the jello would set too much, try the knox. You can measure it out by the teaspoon and then your gelatin would only get very thick in the fridge, not stiff. I think I mentioned before that I use powdered unsweetened kool-aid to make my sf jello.

I was thinking of giving this a try but was wondering how you measure the 2 oz of cream? Do you just figure out how much is in the carton and then guess at a 1/4 of that or what? Thanks in advance...

If you have a shot glass they are an ounce, so 2 of them would be two ounces

2 tablespoon = 1 oz

So 4 T would be 2 oz. It is also 1/8 cup.

Thanks Ourluvs. I had thought of that but I am not much of a drinker so don't have any of those sitting around. May have to invest in a few though. That is what I see them using at the coffee houses to measure with as well. Great idea

Thanks Peony. You were posting at the same time as me

well everyone.. I had my chocolate egg cream this morning at 11am and snacked on about a half of a cup of sunflower seeds w/shell and its now 6:43 and just now getting hungry.. funny though I didn't feel over stuffed but all day I haven't craved eating.. and usually I just eat to be doing something... its a habit like smoking I think..

Im fixin to eat some roast cooked in a tbl oil and worshestershire sause. I love cooking my meat like this.. with a tad bit of ketchup

Ill probably end up making a penut butter egg cream tonight or in the morning depends on how full i get after supper.

what I do is have the egg creamer with the most carbs around 7-9 in the morning then fewer like 2-4 at night so I can still stay in induction.. this has been so easy.. I have felt better today and have had more energy..

OMG. These are one of the yummiest things I have tasted in a long time. Mine did not make nearly the serving that most of yours did as I did not add coffee, tea, or any other filler. Will have to try that in the morning to stretch it out a bit. I will have to see how it holds me over.. I am having it in place of dinner tonight...

3 eggs
1/8 c heavy cream
4 splendas
1 scoop protein powder chocolate cappacino
1 ice cube ( all I had made LOL)

I unfortunately went off my Egg Creme experiment over the weekend. I had about 3 tall drinks at the bars and the next morning felt like hell and grabbed some toast.

I'm back on it and doing really well!! Even despite my SECOND TOM this month!!! I reallllllly hope to get into the 140's by the end of the week.

Its good though.. but I don't think its gonna fill me up like yesterdays did.. ill probably make me one with the pink lemonade tonight..

The jello deal really is a lot more filling--I make a lower calorie version--

1scoop Jay Robb vanilla protein
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup eggbeaters
2 cups "jello water"

blend and let sit in the fridge for 15 minutes--

About 200 calories of filling deliciousness--

thanks.. I was wrong about how filling mine was but toward the end i tasted too much egg.. so its definetly not my favorite with the crunchy penut butter.. and next time ill probably add some water or something.. almond milk when I can make some..

I made my first LARGE BATCH egg creams this morning. I picked up four Rubbermaid "mix and pour" containers yesterday at the store ... they hold 16 oz. I made enough for four with 12 oz each. I drank one for Breakfast, took one in to work ... which I shook up and drank for late afternoon dinner before heading to the Gym. It mixed back together nicely ... although the coconut oil was in little bits (?). I have grown so used to CO that I did not really mind. My DH grabbed the third one to drink for an afternoon snack (he never asked what was in them ... I called it my homemade "Protein Shake" ... he told me tonight that he really liked it!). So there is another one for me to drink tomorrow. I like this batch idea!

I would also like to lose 20 lbs until Memorial Day. My daughter is getting married the day before MD and I would like to be noticably thinner by then.

YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY!

Wow I would love to lose 20 pounds by MD! Does that even seem possible? I have been so abusive to myself ... I have not seen lower than 182 for the past 15 years ... and now it is three kiddos later! ((sigh))

I try not to obsess about the scale any more. I still haven't weighed myself after my March 30th challenge ... I am simply worried that I will be disappointed! So I have been focusing on how great I feel ... and how different my clothes fit ... and maybe I will have the courage to peek at the scale in MAY! HA!

I am drinking a great Egg Cream today!

2 whole STRAWBERRIES (they were huge!)
4 oz of Almond Breeze, unsweetened Vanilla
1 scoop of Body Fortress Protein powder (no soy for me!)
2 whole eggs (yeah, I just threw them in, whites and all)
1 TB coconut oil, melted
handful of ice cubes

Squirt of Whipped Cream to top it off.

I AM IN HEAVEN!!!

Have a great day, girlfriends!

Good morning!

I love the egg creams, I have been doing them for about a week and I
