Is there room for one more?
I started today - weight is 134.5 and I would like to lose 10# by Memorial Day. 2 eggs, hot coffee, 1T heavy cream & SF caramel syrup was my menu this a.m. (9:00 a.m.) and I am still full as of 2:00 p.m. I am going to do my own personal challenge and just drink shakes 3X a day for 2-3 days and see what happens. Then, will have a shake for B&L and eat a healthy supper. I will be counting the points as I am doing WW also. Good Luck to everyone! Last edited by Joannew : 04-12-2008 at 01:14 PM. |

hey guys! well, i just got a big lecture from my friends this morning when they were going out to eat and i didn't order anything cause i was still full from my egg cream drink.
they're both in nursing classes and lecturing me that LOW CARB doesn't work! and that only WW works because of portion control. and i can never defend myself, they'll always talk about the science of it and how they know better because that's what they were taught. ughhh!! whatever. i just hope i can lose a lot of weight this summer and prove them wrong. not that i really care, it's just suuuper annoying to hear!!! and then i was up .6 lbs this morning. ugh!! hopefully tomorrow will be better!

haha ohh, well they all kinda know. cause i've been checking the carb count on things since highschool really. and i know that even if i lose a lot of weight they're all going to doubt my ability to keep it off, etc.
i just wish they would support me rather than try to discourage me from it. i understand they're trying to look out for me.... but i just wish they would let me do my own thing and not nag at me for it. or make fun of me when i make a low carb dish. :P |

I'm headed off to dinner at Applebee's...it's Tony's nephew's birthday, so he picked the place (he's 13). I'm planning on having a chicken salad and glass of white wine.
I weighed myself today, even though I said I wouldn't until Monday, and I'm down to 126.4!!! That's nearly two pounds from where I started on Tuesday. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. |

Checking in. . .
I had a busy day and was gone from the house for way longer than I thought we would be. The long and the short of it is that I didn't get to make my egg cream today. I had lunch at the Roadhouse and basically had a chicken BLT salad. Got home at (late) dinner time. Sorry, but I can't do a coffee egg cream at 7pm. I'd never get to bed. Instead, I had a protein shake, but in place of my usual egg beaters addition, I used 2 egg yolks (to honor my missed egg cream!!). Happy to report that I'm down 2.0 pounds this morning, which is VERY unusual for me, as it is day 2 of TOM. Plus, I already lost 1.0 yesterday morning on day 1. I usually gain a couple for day 1 of TOM and don't get a whoosh until day 3-4. Could it be the egg creams. . .?? ![]() I'll definately work my egg cream back in tomorrow and keep reporting back in. Gotta go read my new library books: Good Calories, Bad Calories, and The Diet Cure. Laters!!

Checking in ... sounds like everyone is doing well! Gilly is learning the hard lesson of peer pressure. For me, I repeat the mantra to myself: "Jen, just shut up and eat right" ... they will be so jealous of your success afterwards, but they will be the first to trip you up during. Truly, don't discuss it with them. Sometimes my friends think I have found a cult or something! If my BF knew I was eating RAW EGGS twice a day she would die! But she loves the look of my yummy egg creams! I call them "protein shakes" ... she congradulates me on my progress. Enough Said!
Wow, I have to remind myself to eat snacks while drinking these Egg Creams! These are so yummy. I made one last night with Chai Tea (thank you for the suggestion) and I am making another Chai today ... WOW! That was so yummy! I had two Egg Creams yesterday ... and was at a party last night with "bad foods" and was not even tempted to eat!

Its funny jenn, I know what you are saying about people thinking I am in a cult! Telling people my own age (in their 20's) they think I am disguesting and im going to end up sick etc etc.. but when I tell women that are older then I am (say 45+) they are like "oooooh I use to eat raw eggs all the time when I was little" one woman at work remembers making herself raw eggnog every morning for breakfast when she was a child, and she was laughing like "omg I guess thats why I was always such a skinny child!"
I have chai tea myself at home and it is amazing. Let me give everyone some other suggestions that I have tried! And pls add to the list! I'm always looking for new suggestions. Celestial Seasonings has a ton of flavored herbal fruit teas, so the types of shakes you can make are endless! the company 4c makes energy drinks in packets like crystal lite, that has tons of caffene and gives me a huge boost of energy for hours, and I would love to try them together! When I make the shake with tea, I always brew 2 teabags in 1 teacup full of boiling water, so the tea is not over powerd by the eggs... 1. Celestial seasonings Strawberry tea (very good just like a strawberry shake, espically when you add some vanilla syrup) 2. Chai tea, Very tasty 3. Black cherry tea (its ehh ok, but the cherry tea is kinda tart and it doesnt go very well to me) 3. Mix any mint tea, with a heaping teaspoon of cocopoweder, and a few drops of peppermint extract. (omg its like mint chocolate chip icecream melted Mmmmm) 4. Orange soda (Yum Yum enough said!), I also have diet rootbeer on the side but have not yet tried it. After my sister inlaws wedding I want to buy green tea syrup if its made or maybe chai syrup, and make Green tea chai lattes. (this place gloria genes use to make them and they were drop dead amazing but like 500 calories for a medium)

Wow, sounds like you've got lots of ideas! I did take one of your suggestions and bought some Celestial Seasonings Almond dessert tea and it was great. I also bought some Bigelow Vanilla Caramel tea, but I haven't tried it yet.
I loved the Diet Rootbeer variation: it was even better than the Cream Soda egg cream. I highly recommend this. |

I'm down almost 2 lbs also since starting the EC three days ago.
The scale had jumped up 3.6 lbs from my siggie weight since I was eating off plan around Easter. For the past two weeks I've been struggling with the scale bouncing up & down. Now finally after a few days of EC, I am happy to report that I'm 4/10 lb below my signature weight. I'm not changing my stats until Thursday which will be one week on the EC. I'm estastic & that the Egg Creams will help me get to goal sooner rather than later & with less yo-yo ing on the scale.Have a great Sunday everyone & KUTGW |

Thanks for all the great ideas for the different drinks....and WTG all you losers!
I am down 2# today also. It is the same 2# that I have been losing and gaining for awhile! But onward and upward! I was going to do just 3 shakes yesterday, but I guess I wasn't quite ready...I had 2 and then a pork chop & string cheese for supper. Keep on going everyone! |

OK - Marking my place in this challenge.
I'm in. I wrote on the main board that I need to do something - on March 15 I restarted Atkins for probably the 15th time in 5 years and I dropped 3 - then gained it back. No cheating. No kidding. I have finally come to the conclusion that I need to do something different than straight LC to lose this weight. Obviously 175 is some kind of set point for my body. I need to find answers. Anyhoo - did the egg cream/coffee thing yesterday (2 meals, then supper) and am down about 1.5 lbs...but I was probably retaining. Doing it again today. Might try 3 days on/a day off...or something like that. The real trick is if I can get below 171. If I can somehow break into the 160s then I'll know this is working. I'm really interested to hear how everyone does! A

I had the same issue with getting into the 170s and im now having the same issue getting into the 150s so I think its a pattern for me. And if it is i'll be really happy as soon as I get into the 150's cause then I should easily get down to my goal weight (keeps fingers crossed) |

Hi All
Have only had one EC so far and made it with 4 oz warm coffee, I think it would go down better COLD. I also did NOT put in coconut oil but want to start using it. So my question is: Do you like the EC better hot or cold? I still feel nervy about the eggs. I am going to Whole Foods later and see if I can find some pasteurized ones.... |

Ok, started on Tuesday and had 2 shakes everyday, one for breakfast and one for lunch plus a regula204.6r low carb dinner and lots of water. I've gone from 204.6 to 200.8 as of this morning. Plus we went out last night to Red Robin and I had a huge cobb salad that had lots of sodium. I'm very happy.
Also, this is working so well that my dh has decided he is starting to do this on Monday too. WOOHOO!!! He realy needs to drop some weight and I'm very happy he's going to try this. Let's keep up the good work everyone. I do find I miss eating though and by dinner time I'm ready to use my teeth, lol. How do you the rest of you feel? Do you miss eating? I'm full but still miss the actual act of eating--weird, huh? I'm hoping it will pass. ![]() |

I found the pasterized eggs at Publix. I haven't seen them at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. The hot coffee will heat up the eggs so that it might pasterize them at least if not really cook them. |

Can you tell me how you get the 5 grams from the egg cream? I am new and am green on these issues. I read your thread last night was thought it was totally gross. This morning I got out of bed to prove how gross it was and I am truely sorry to have doubted you. It is delic!!!! My 20 year old son grabbed mine and gulped it down and when he wiped his mouth I explained to him what it was. He thinks I am lying so he wont drink it anyomore, Silly kid!! I have a few questions. Can it be espresso or just black brewed coffee? Can i make a few and put them in the fridge so I can just pop them in the blender ( I have a mgic bullet) on the way out the door ( i leave for work at 3:15am)? Can I use splenda instead of Stevia?

Okay,I am joining. This is a great challenge! I make egg *custard* sometimes for breakfast. I cook heavy cream and egg yolks w/ co and splenda until thick. It is YUMMY!!!
So,I am stocked up on flavored herb teas, tangerine and raspberry Diet Rite sodas, eggs, heavy cream, and Carb Countdown chocolate and 2% plain. Here is my menu for the week: B: egg cream w/ 3 eggs cream,CO etc... L: spinach salad w/ grilled chicken or shrimp D: spinach and cheese stuffed pork chop, hamburger or chicken breast, evoo roasted veggie(asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brus sel sprouts, green beans) I may drink an egg cream for lunch for a couple of the days. Also,I may make the custard for a *snack* in the evening if I need it. I have all the chicken and shrimp ready to go,plus I have prepped all of my salads and veggies for the week. For exercise I do Callanetics every other day,and cardio on the other days.Plus, cleaning my house and doing yard work. I do not own a scale nor do I ever weigh myself on purpose, I was 194 2 weeks ago at my GYN. visit though. I am looking forward to sharing my results with you all! Everybody is doing so great! |

Count me in too! I just tried these for the first time today and they were great! It tasted like a milkshake, which is not what I expected lol. I went to the grocery store today but I could not find that syrup anywhere. Do I have to go to the healthfood store to get that? I think it would have tasted better with a little more flavor.
My goal is to have 1 shake for breakfast and lunch. Congratulations on all the weight you guys are getting rid of! Good job |
