I think part of the key with egg creams is really in your (my) head. If you say, hmmm, I just had a drink but I'm used to eating at this time, yeah, I think you will feel hungry. It's like your brain has you programmed to eat to feel full, so a drink doesn't feel like it's cutting it.

I have been having my egg cream about mid-morning (9:30-10 o'clock-ish), but when my scheduled "lunchtime" rolls around at 12:15, my body says, "yay, time to eat." I have been ignoring that, however, and having something to drink instead at that time. THen I find that I'm usually ok until I REALLY want to eat, which is at 2:30.

I really thank that part of it is conquering the "headgames" my brain likes to play with me regarding food and hunger. I don't NEED to eat anything upon arriving home from work, but everyday I walk into the house and FEEL like I'm starving.

One day at a time. . .One egg cream at a time. . .

Hi...just wondering....has anyone tried to do the egg creams for 3 meals a day? I know it wouldn't be the healthiest idea for long term, but I wondered if it would jump start weight loss or get things moving if there was a stall.

As for the discussion about the egg creams being filling, I think they are as filling as any egg breakfast for me. They aren't lasting me from breakfast until the middle of the afternoon like they are for some people, but I'm not using any sort of protein powder either. I tend to be satisfied from breakfast (around 8 a.m.) to about 12:30 or 1.

I'm on track today. I'm going to weigh again on Monday, so hopefully there will be a big whoosh!

Have a great day!

Good morning. Question for you all. Have any of you ever tried a short water fast--like 3 or 4 days? I've been writing back and forth with a woman who claims on her blog she lost 12 pounds with a 3-day water fast and totally kept the weight off after going back to eating normally, which for her was just whole foods and portion control.

I'm just trying to find a way to break myself of some really poor emotional eating habits. I keep sabatoging my low carb efforts when I'm stressed or upset about something. I'm thinking a short water fast might help me to break some of these habits. Any thoughts?

Another thought I'm still having is going for the 3 egg creams a day for a few days. I just need somehow to break this bad cycle of emotional eating.

Give it a try and see how it goes. I heard the same thing, but have not tried it myself.

Let us know how you do.

I went on a water fast from noon until the next morning and I thought I was going to pass out :-) I kept waking up because of my rumbling stomach. And I kept dreaming of food :-) By that morning I couldn't wait for breakfast. I guess if you can handle it it might be ok. I did lose three pounds though.

Okay, I think I'm going to go for it. I just had breakfast, and I'm going to start fasting at noon. The most difficult part for me will be missing the coffee!!!

I'm going for 3-days, so I should finish by Monday at noon. I'll let you know how it goes.

Of course, weight loss would be great, but my ultimate goal is to get my eating habits back on track. Then, I'll be back to the lovely egg creams!

I'll still be chasing around my three little ones (4, 2, and 1), so hopefully I will be able to survive!

Water fasts should be used for cleansing, not weightloss.
since you are eating low carb, you might not lose that kind of weight doing a water fast. Alot of weight lost on a fast is water weight, and when you start eating again it all comes back..
theres a website curezone that has alot of info on fasting

Yes, I'm familiar with curezone is a great site, I have done a water fast before but for only 2 days it was not for weightloss. Weightloss is just a perk you get when trying to purge impurities out of your body.

If you make the eggcreams like I do three a day would be about 1400-1500 calories. Which I think is totally acceptable for three days to a week without jeopardizing your metabolism. However, I think it would also be REALLY important to also eat some veggies - probably the amount allowed on Atkins Induction each day as well. There is no fiber in the egg creams the way I make them and it would NOT behoov my system to just drink them and not get in any fiber/veggies. I would also add a good multivitamin.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Okay gang, I'm thinking twice about the water fast. I just want to do a little more research before I dive right in....I'm nervous about messing with my metabolism too much. The more I read on message boards about water fasting, I'm finding there is so much controversy and some people just think it is the worst idea ever as far weight loss is concerned. Weight loss isn't my primary goal--breaking poor eating habits and retraining my brain is--however, I don't want to do more harm than good where my metabolism is concerned. You know what I mean?

So---I'll keep researching and reevaluate next week. Sorry to highjack this thread with fasting stuff. Back to regular scheduled programming---EGG CREAMS!!!!

So--Janice, are you saying you felt like the fasting slowed your metabolism and hurt your weight loss efforts in the long run?

Oh no, I only fasted 1 day a week and dranked only water. It helped me keep my weight down.
I was following The Lord's Table diet program where you fast i day a week, had liquid days, regular days and days you cut your food portions in half. It was so much to remember. Kept getting mixed up on the days.

I subbed to this thread when it all began and I thought I'd give an update.
The first 4 days I did the eggcream thing I dropped 4 lbs...but then I had out of town visitors and everything went south! So I gained back the 4 (completely off any diet...not really overdoing it, but not doing good, either). But since then I've been back on lc and have had the egg creams a couple of times this week and I'm back down 3 lbs.
I still haven't broken 170...but I think I would have if I'd stuck to it.
So this week I'm issuing a challenge to myself to do the egg creams every day this week - for at least one meal if not 2.
I've been doing your basic coffee egg cream w/two eggs, cream, a little davincis, coffee, and a tablespoon of Fibersure. Some days I put in a tbs. of CO, some not. The 4 days I did the egg creams before I got a little backed up, which is unusual for me, so I added the fiber.
Does anyone want to join me in my challenge-within-a-challenge? I know lots of you are already doing this...
A

I did really good this passed week. I plan on doing just as good this up comming week..
I'm at 156 now, and i'd really like to get down to 154 by the end of the week...
I bought some really nice dress pants for work from a thrift store (really nice quality name brand stuff that I could never afford new)
Who would figure though that the 10's from express fit, but the 12's from ann taylors loft dont fit lol..
oh well.. I got a size 14 jeans and they are a lil big on me so woohoo! (jeans and dress pants dont fit me the same, im always smaller in a dress pant then I am in jeans)
Id really like to almost be in the ann taylor pants by the end of the week, but I think it might be pushing it..
If i can have another clean persistant week like last week I will have no problems..

Kerry, that's great! It's so great to read about the success you are having.

It's TOM for me so I'm up a little. I'm sure it will come back down soon. I'm going to keep plugging through with the egg creams and hopefully when it is all over I'll have a whoosh.

I fasted 1.5 days this weekend. It was waaaay harder than I thought it would be, but it felt good to give my digestive system a bit of a rest. All in all, it was a good thing (although I felt like a loser for just making it 1.5 days! :-).

Good luck to everyone this week.

P.S. Agee--I'm all about breaking into the 160s this week!!!

I've changed things around a bit for me. I have MAJOR night munchies, so I decided to use the eggs along with a fiber protein mix (slimstyles) some of us here got into. And I do it at night. I do it with some frozen fruit, so it isn't low carb, but they are berries, so it isn't hugely high carb. This does a great job for me.

I'm also using the CO with boiled eggs in the am to get that in, making an egg salad thingy which is OK. I'll keep fiddling with that part.

Now the final part for me is that I started back using the rockstar energy drink (no sugar). This is not in line with my attempt to lose the sweetners, but I have managed to tame the hungries with this cycle of food/ drink. If I get really crazy at night I'll have some smaller carb low (or as low as I can talk myself into) with some more CO. Adding the CO helps me stop eating.

So far, this is making the pounds I'd added on start to turn loose. Yippee!
