Good morning everyone. It is mild, cloudy and windy today. The snow is melting. There is water everywhere.
I saw my first red-winged blackbird this morning. Spring must be coming. |

Lil, everyones anxiously awaiting Spring and all the flowers and birds. Sorta cloudy but very warm here today in the middle 60's, so we are working outside some.
Supposely they are suppose to start work on cable modem on our road the 1st of April, so every truck I see go by I stop and look. And I did see a truck stop down the road from us where we picked up trash etc, so I rode down there and lord and behold there is a cable across the road at that point and a black box attached to it. So I rode the main road that connects to us and I see another box there also, so maybe that is something with the cable. DH will go check it out when he gets done with his project. We finally had a sign made for our driveway and hes working on getting that up. Our driveway is now called "Triple "G" Lane (Grandma, Grandpa and Grandkids) and another version of it will be (Grandma, Grandpa and Grapey) as even before our baby was born they started calling him Grapey and at times we still call him "Grapey". Silly I know, but he keeps us young. Lise where are you today? How is your DH's rash doing? Charlene, hellllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooo.

Hi everyone. It is sunny and cold today. It will help to slow down the flooding.
Joyce....Did they put down more cable today? Does this mean you will eventually get cable internet service? They tell me it is very fast. Lise....How are things going? Did you get a new hot water tank? I went to the hospital today to get a bone scan. I had to walk from the parking lot through the whole length of the building and then up to the third floor. When I got there, the receptionist told me I had the wrong day. I had to walk all the way back to the parking lot. There wasn't any place to sit down and rest. By the time I got to the car I was barely moving. Now I have to do it all over again tomorrow. I don't know why I bother. I know my bones are shrinking. I think they are all turning to fat.

Good morning to all and Happy Hump Day already!! Well sun is shining and looks like another great day to melt some of this snow we still have on the ground!! DD came over last night after my dentist appt. and watched me pick up litter in my yard and alley after all the snow melted it is always yucky to pick all that stuff up that ppl. so stupidly like to throw out their car windows.. losers?!? haha Anyhow looks good for now... Went for my first official walk outside w/DH... it was nice out so now maybe I can start my daily walking outside and not freeze my behind off. DH's like oh great now I suppose I'll be stuck walking every night till freeze up again?!? haha He is such a wimp and hates exercise and I told him it's good for him and quit the complaining cause it will help you none!! Well off for now- no baby yet but I'm awaiting!! BBL ROCKIN'

Hi Lil, sorry for the mixed up with your bone scan appointment, that is bad when you don' even have a place to set and relax. I had a bone scan when we first got here with our new doctor. Yesterday after DH got done with his little thing he was working on, we drove up the road and it wasn't the cable for the fast internet just a thing to monitor the number of cars etc. Now, why in the heck would they do something like that on a country road, I don't know. But Yes, we are suppose to be getting cable modem and they told us the first time, by the end of last December and now they say work will start April 1st, so now we wait. I hate this country living, no sidewalks, no high speed internet (even tho we have satillite its still not fast) and I hate, totally hate this weather. Now, I said my peace.
Seems like our little group here is slowly not posting like we used too, and I totally mix everyones postings. Ok, off to prepare a tuna helper for supper tonight before we go pick up our little GS. BBL |

Good morning to all and Happy Almost Friday
So how has your week been?!? Good, bad, ugly? How has the exercise been going? I have had a so so week- can do ALOT better & really need to buckle down since summer is just around the corner (hard to believe since we still have snow on the ground) BUT eventually it will get here and if I don't have @ least some weight off I will be kicking myself all summer so I HAVE to get serious and a movin'... So today no more excuses- NONE, el zippo !! Will start eating better, getting more exercise and just getting back to the basics OP- I know it will not be as easy as it was 7.5 yrs ago when I lost 25 lbs but I can get some off- If I can quit smoking I can definitely drop some weight. So there... Said it now gonna do it... ok thats enough of my pep talk for the day ~~ steps off high horse~~ So good day to all! ROCKIN' ![]() |

Robin, you have done amazing on not smoking. That stuff really worked!!!! Our SIL is the same, doesn't miss it at all, and he truly smells better..hehe
Bookcases are being installed today so that is progress. Chilly here today maybe in the 40's. Off to TOPS tonight also. Ok, Lise are you ok? Just remember we are all in the same boat, so don't fret and stress yourself out. Lil? Please report on your bone scan when you get home, even tho you probably won't know anything. Charlene? |

Good morning everyone. It is nice and sunny today.
Joyce.....The hardest part of getting to the bone scan was the loooong walk to the Lab. I did not have to have any dye injected. It was hard to lie flat on my back (makes me dizzy) but it only took about 5 minutes. Then I had the looong walk back to the parking lot. We did not go to any stores. We just came straight home. I am having a cup of coffee and then I am going to lie down for a while. |

.... ...life is overwhelming right now...I think of you often.... ...The results of my blood work are in and the good news is that I have lots of good cholesterol and low bad cholesterol so for that... but..my sugars are bad....just out of the high normal range for fasting glucose and my A1C is 0.079 which is bad soooo.....I'm low carbing for my life right now...I won't concede to the D word and my doctor is okay with that...I have 3 months to deal with this through diet and exercise....For dinner last night I cubed 2 chicken breasts and pan fried them in olive oil...added fresh mushrooms and a cup of mixed veg...seasoned with garlic and salt and pepper....I made rice for the family and fried cabbage for myself....I held a bit of the chicken back for today's lunch....and I'll have that later.... I've made the Aitkins cheesecake and last night I made 2 batches of almond thins....tonight I'm making a batch of oopsie rolls....I really like them for sandwiches...I already bought lunch meat to go in them....my favourite is with a fried egg which I for breakfast or even a quick and easy dinner...I've been back to LC'ing ( with several slip ups )for 2 weeks now because I knew this was coming....I ketosis and even though it obliterates my appetite I still have to work very hard to stop snacking because I snack from habit not from hunger....Charlene...I don't know if my thyroid was tested...I have two pages of results and the only 2 things out of normal range were my glucose serum fasting which was 7.0 mmol/L( I know our numbers are different because we are metric but normal is 3.6 to 6 ) and my A1C which is 0.079 and normal is 0.04 to 0.06..tell me what I'm looking for and I'll post it... Here are my cholesterol numbers(desired range is in brackets): Total...4.58 (<5.2 mmol/L) Triglycerides....1.05 (<2.3) HDL.....1.39 ( >1.3) LDL...2.7 (<2) TC/HDL -C ratio 3.3 (??) and and because I do think of you all often and care very much about you all....![]() Lise

Lil, I don't do good laying flat on my back either. But glad it is over for you and you are home and resting now.
Lise, good that your cholesterol is doing fine, no medicine for that and a big plus. Sounds like you are determined to get the sugar down. Your supper last night sounded really good. If I don't have a recipe to follow, Im not creative like you are. I love my snacks etc just like you, I eat whether Im hungry or not. Its so hard, especially since you have Kate and Wyatt to feed and of course they like all of the good stuff that we aren't suppose to have!!!! But how is Wayne doing with his rash? I think of him and wonder how he is doing. But so glad to see you post. Im truly missing all of the posts here, Charlene also. Ok, off to TOPS tonight to take my punishment but Im ok with that. BBL |

About W.....we had to go see his doctor last night....she was on duty for urgent care thankfully....she wrote him a note for sick leave and then this morning we realized that he doesn't qualify because one of his partners retired last year and the law says that once there are only 2 partners in a company you can no longer be hired as an empolyee so no sick benefits for him...we are working on something else now but it is looking grim....
He is seeing a specialist on the 17th to start the ball rolling to get his perforated hernia fixed and he has been taking the malaria drugs for about 2 weeks now for the lupus...when I apply the steroid cream to him I can feel that the texture of the rash is changing...sort of drying whereas before it was soft... ..he also has some kind of pain in the middle finder of his right hand....it wakes him it gets so bad....we don't know what that's about but we do know that there is no infection and that the circulation is fine.....he also has a constant pain in his neck and back...I can hardly get him out of bed...as a matter of fact this morning he was still in bed when I left for work....this is so not like him that I can't even begin to explain....![]() I think that's all...he did go to work yesterday but only for a few hours and that did him in.... I don't know if I mentioned but on Saturday our water heater broke and we finally got a new one on Tues....he installed it and took away both of our old ones all for $620.... ...a lot of money but a fair price...and now I have more room down in the crawl space.... ...Yikes... I better get some work done... ![]() |

Hello, ladies!
Life has been hectic here, too. Janna moved back home for awhile, and brought a new puppy w/her, so we've been house training, chew training, learning to live together again, etc., and work was crazy along with it. I'm on vacation this week, and have been trying to get my house in order again...it was out of control with the long hours at the office and J's stuff being added to the mix. I have a LCFriend coming to visit for the weekend. She'll be here this afternoon...the same one that visited in January. She travels alot for work and her job brought her back to Texas this week. Lise, I've been back on LC for a couple of weeks...I've always tried to stay LC, but have been sticking to plan 100% the last week or so, and feeling good about it. J is doing it w/me...she cut down alot on carbs for a couple of weeks, then went strict with me this week. She already had to lower her metformin because her BS was dropping too low. She lost 10 lbs the first 2 weeks just doing low to moderate carbs. She hasn't weighed yet this week...I'm anxious to see the results. My biggest downfall is snacking while I cook dinner because I'm starving when I get home. I love gourmet olives and cheese, so I've found my best way to work w/that is to keep a nice variety of those on hand and put on the counter while I cook. Instead of crackers or chips, I'm munching on olives stuffed w/feta, almonds, jalapenos, garlic, and things like marinated mozzarella balls, sliced havarti, etc. We made a white pizza the other night using the crust made w/cream cheese & mozzarella, and it was great. Topped it w/seasoned ricotta, mozzarella, mushrooms, olives, some leftover chopped grilled chicken breast and crumbled bacon...it was so rich and felt like a really carby comfort food meal. I'm probably going to make several of the crusts and keep in the freezer for quick dinners. I made a cheesecake last night, too. Also boiled a bunch of eggs and will make some deviled eggs today...trying to keep some easy grab stuff on hand for J to snack on. She likes pork rinds, so that's helping her...we have several flavors on hand, and she also does the plain in the oven w/butter, cinnamon and splenda to help w/sweet cravings. Lil, I'm sorry you're feeling so yuck these days...wish I were close enough to come visit you and help you out some. Char, good to hear from you. Robin, are you all set for that baby? So exciting! Joyce, I feel your pain on living in the country and not having all the available services...but I really do love living out where it's quiet, so I guess it's a good trade-off for me. Better get some things done! If I don't make it back, have a great weekend!

Oh my gosh Lise, no wonder you are a basket case with your eating pattern the worry of W and all. You deserve a
![]() With his finger is it like trigger finger where it locks up? We both had that, but only pain when we would unlock it and NOT pain that would wake us up. Golly woman you do have your hands full with so much. Plus being without hot water for those 4 or 5 days..yuk and the expense of a new one. SOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo good to see Niki post also. All of your low carbing sounds so good, especially the cheesecake and deviled eggs. You really have to prepare yourself and have everything made on hand just as you are doing it Niki. Nice that you have a net friend coming also. Enjoy her ..Love reading all of your post also. YES, I would move back to Southern California in a heartbeat if we could afford it but now I would have to pack up my GS and take him with, I couldn't stand being away from him, two months of vacation was proof of that. Lil, how are you doing since you got home today? I know you said you were resting. Bookcases are installed upstairs, and he will be back on Monday to work on the window seat up there. He did make one major mistake, put it down too far where I was going to put a desk. I guess Im too nice, didn't have the heart to be too upset over it, but the more I think about it the more I am. We really liked this man, and his work is so beautiful. Actually the bookcases are way to nice to be upstairs where no one will hardly ever see them. So now I have to decide what I want him to do and I know for sure I don't want him to take them out as they are permanent in there. Only option I see (is at his expense) built me my desk and have that permanently installed to match my bookcases. ![]() ![]() I don't know if you can see or not, but there is an opening there just made for a computer desk or whatever, with a light above and telephone jack and TV jack. He was suppose to stop right before the vent on the wall, in other words it should of been pushed down the other way. Last edited by countrysunshine : 04-03-2008 at 03:04 PM. |

Happy Friday everyone. Raining here, it started late yesterday afternoon and rained all night. Our grass already needs to be cut.
Had a very warm "welcome back" at my TOPS club last night. Nice group of women and a couple men, and they have always included my DH in whatever we are doing, even tho he just sets outside in the hall reading, but that is nice. And the good news is I didn't gain any, so happy about that, as I truly deserved a weight gain... Good day here to sort thru these cookbooks and arrange them in the bookcase. I have to get by his big mistake and make it work for me. Hope all are well today also. |

Good morning everyone. It is cloudy and looks like it is going to rain.
Joyce....I am so glad that you did not gain. You will feel so happy. Maybe you will get used to your bookcases. It looks like he did a wonderful job. If you try to move them they might not turn out so nice. You will probably find a way to work around them. My DSIL went to the hospital yesterday to get his stents cleaned up. They did not do all the work that he was supposed to get done. Phyllis has gone to bring him home this morning. Maybe she will find out why they didn't do everything. He is having a lot of trouble with his heart and with his diabetes. He is allergic to Plavex and this is making complications for them. Their doctors are not being the least bit helpful. Doctors are so scarce around here, you are usually stuck with whichever one you can get. We are all concerned about his condition. Lise....I hope Wayne can get something straightened up about his sick leave. You do not need all this extra worry. |

Robin, you have alot to be thankful for and you seem so full of life and vinegar. And you kicked the habit!!! Plus a new baby on the way, life is wonderful for you and your family. Nothing like the love of a baby and like Charlene says just the smell of a new baby is unbelievable.
Yes, I love all of my new bookcases. They are up in what we call the loft, which is the third floor, so decided to make that a library, sitting room since on Monday he will be putting in my window seat. Now we just have to start using it for that purpose reading and relaxing and looking out. We have been thru so much with all of this construction it will be such a pleasure to have everything done. I can see where my DH has slowed down since we been here also. He will be 68 in June. Ok, we just quite for the day trying to sort those cookbooks. Will post a picture when we are all done. |

Well we are done with sorting cookbooks. Tomorrow we will tackle putting them in.
NO, Lise that room is the loft, on the third floor. Its the coke theme, so will leave that and have it sorta like a fun room, with a nice new TV and surround sound for sure. The couch you are talking about is in the family room downstairs with the huge 60 inch TV we have. I plan on using the loft, but seems like always something going on here, trying to get things fixed, repaired or whatever. Let us know how Wayne survives work today. What turmoil your life is right now, it has to get better. Ok, I need a nap as later we have a meeting in town. See you all tomorrow. |

Happy Saturday everyone.
Went to a meeting last night, first time visitors and not what we were hoping for. We both are amateur ham radio operators and now since we are coming to a closer on getting the house done, time to make friends. But this club wasn't friendly at all. One nice lady chatted with us after the meeting, but NOT one man, and that includes the officers of the club came up to us and chatted. So that will be the first and last time we go there. About two weeks ago we had visited another ham club and it was great, friendly and alot of activities so we will be joining that one. Ok, up, up and away to the loft. Hope everyones ok today. |
