Morning! I have so much to do today, and I don't want to do any of it!
b: omelet and lc toast w/butter and sf jam l: salad w/pork tenderloin, cheese, sunflower seeds, green pepper and south beach dressing and pumpkin muffin d: I have no clue--I'm thinking hamburger on OMM, green bean casserole and jello fluff--but I need to get to the store! yesterdays question---I honestly can't think of anything. Maybe that's why I went with general lc instead of a specific plan--I hate rules! Now of course when I dive off the wagon, well, that's a whole different story! Anna---thank you for the articles, I'm going to go check them out! You have definitely given me hope! And, it makes sense that cooking/roasting/etc would change it's composition as I know I can't eat raw brocolli and cauliflower, but cooked is OK. YEAH! Bufo--Welcome, welcome! Yeah, the guys thread might be fun, but you'll probably fit in a lot better here! Yes, post your menu and make sure you post daily, or Lisa will get ya!Lei--I'll check out that thread in a minute, I have a feeling it will be entertaining! Are you excited for BB tonight? I'll have to say, this has been the least interesting season for me. Hopefully July will be better. Lisa--I would say checking out Fitday would be good. I'm not into counting at all but it might give you an idea of what is going on. The only thing I can think is that you have to do a lot of meals on the run, and nuts and protein shakes are known stallers for some. I can't say that I am the queen of nutrition but I do think that at some point excess protein is converted to fat--so maybe that is part of the problem? Also, I have to be really careful about eating anything sweet by itself. Even though it's not real sugar, I rarely have anything sweetened (i.e. protein shake) without having a good dose of "regular" food first--even sweetners or things that are naturally sweet can cause an increase of insulin if you are insulin resistent. Keep at it girl, I know you will find the answer! Lucy and Missy---where are you girls? I'll check in later. |

Hi,
Can I join you? I've done low carb on and off for a few years and have always had good weight loss, then I cheat *usually with alcohol* and give up and gain back most of what I lost. It's easy to cheat and ignore it when you don't have to admit it! |

Welcome Bramble--please do join us! You are in the UK--how cool! Anna is from there as well I believe. Gosh, we really have a group from all over the world here--that's so neat! Make sure to read the rules on the first page--Lisa will hold you to them! Most especially make sure to post daily and include your menu--I love getting ideas from others on what they're eating but it also will help with staying accountable. I can relate with the cheating and giving up--I've done it my whole life. It looks like you have recently entered onederland--congratulations! Tell us a bit about yourself and be prepared to settle in until goal or beyond!

Bramble!! (Do you have a real name?) ![]() Looking forward to getting to know you as well!! I can also so relate to the alcohol, (I forgot about that one) as I do have a glass of red wine almost every night with my dinner...Have right from day 1, and I don't plan on stopping quite yet... Doesn't seem to bother me at all, but if it did, I would definitely consider taking it out...Teresa~ Your menu looks yummy....What time shall I be there? (I'll bring the wine of course) ![]() 2 C Coffee w/whipping cream 2 boiled eggs w/rev roll pepperoni slices nuked into chips w/shrimp dip small caesar salad, sans the croûtons turkey burger w/ slice of tomato, LC zucchini relish smashed turnips

Hi! Good morning (err, well afternoon I suppose!)!
I had a late night last night and was up until 6:00 in the morning ... and I only slept 'till 11:00 am today, so I'm going to be tiiiiiiiiiired. >yawn< Anyway, I've already had:Meal 1: 3/4 cup of broccoli with butter Meal 2: 1 scrambled egg with 2 tblspns of shredded cheese And for the rest of the day, I'm planning: Meal 3: Some coffee/half&half/Splenda Meal 4: Turkey burger with lettuce and a tomato slice Meal 5: Small salad w/ creamy Italian dressing Meal 6: Hamburger w/ a slice of cheddar cheese Meal 7: Maybe some of me pre-cooked cabbage if I'm still hungry My goodness that is a lot of food, and especially meat!!! Since it is only me 2nd day of Induction though, I'm not worrying about calories; I'm just trying to get into the ketosis and once me appetite is suppressed, then I won't even have to think about it hopefully. Still that should be around 1500 if me estimations are correct.

Hi and thanks for the welcome!
Bramble is my real name lol. A bit about me...? Hmm... lol.. I'm Leanne.. a student.. lol I dunno what to say... I say lol alot? I'm just basically trying to cut down on carbs, rather than following a specific plan, I weighed myself today and I'm down 7lbs from last Sunday to 195... which is good and should give me the motivation to keep going this week and not drink! Do I have to post measurements? lol ![]() Menu for today: B: None (not good..) L: 3 boiled eggs w/butter D: Diet coke chicken! Yum! and cauliflower with cheese. S: 2 tbsp peanut butter and also too much coffee, and milk (about 10 cups.. (of coffee not milk)) Carbs: 61 (because of the milk..). I'm getting Ketostix then I'll be able to see if the milk is stopping me being in ketosis or not, if it is then I shall have to suffer withdrawal symptoms... it might be ok though because even with the coffee I've still lost 7lbs this week I love coffee...

Anna, that doesn't look like a lot to me! I usually eat that much in just 2 meals! Have you always eaten lots of mini meals? I have tried it a couple of times and I always feel hungry and it is really hard to do at work. But--if I thought it would truly help in some way--I might be able to force myself to do it! Hope you had fun being up all night--a little late night partying? Maybe you can get in a little nap today!

Leanne--aka Bramble (lol) have you tried cream or half and half in your coffee? Probably a lot more calories than milk, but very few carbs. Or there is always almond milk or Hoods milk if you have either of those where you live. As far as the measurements go--I say just go for it! I did mine for the first time at the beginning of this month and as painful as it was at the moment, it really was no big deal and it will be a good thing to look back on to see progress.
OK, now that I have wasted most of the day on the internet--I'm going to go and try to get some stuff done...or take a nap...not sure which! |

I just got here like 2 days ago meself, lol.... Good for you for the 7 pound loss!! An alternative to the milk would be half & half or heavy cream (heavy cream has less carbs I believe), or if you're counting calories, Calorie Countdown milk has only 3 carbs in 1 cup of milk, which is pretty good! And it is low in calories too, hence the name ![]() Quote:
), so that is a lot of food for me. This multiple meals per day thing is new to me. I always did 3 set meals (leaving me stuffed right after meals and then hungry between them) or grazing throughout the day (this landed me waaaaay over me carb limits!). So I figured, why not just try doing lots of SET meals -- each one smaller than one of the 3 big meals, yet bigger than the little things I would graze on. I'm hoping it works! ![]() |

Ok after looking through the challenge threads you guys inspire me. I knew a few faces here from... my last and rather successful venture into the land of the slim(er). I need accountabilty, a kick in the tush and somewhere to come post my successes so i can see how i CAN do it and not get bogged down in the daily crap that is life at times
.No weight or food plan for today as tomorow is D day but tonight in preparation i boiled eggs, pulled out recipes and tried to come up with some affordable meal plans (darned scholarship has not come in and its weeks late). I dug out my workout dvd's and made a plan to stop the sedentary crap. Ok a bit about me i suppose . I'm Christine, 32, a veterinary student living in queensland australia. I'm a dual citizen canadian/aussie so im used to both continents. I'm a bit offbeat and silly, and known to write book length posts with horrible spelling (your always welcome to skip through em though). Ive currently got a lot of difficult stuff going on irl so im taking control of the one thing i can - my health. My interests include online gaming (trying to cut back a bit), random time sinks (at least lcf is a positive time sink hehe), and alternative/complementary heath (equine mainly). Looking forward to meeting you all! Cheers Christine

Christine---Welcome! Wow, from Australia! One of the few places on my list of where I want to travel that I haven't been to yet. Had tickets to go on Sept 13 of 2001, however the terrorists kind of put a halt to that one.... Glad you are joining us! Off beat and long posts...you will fit right in!
Missy--glad you had a great time with DH. I never come back any richer from a casino, but it's fun anyway! Now hop back on the wagon before Lisa gets you! Lucy---where are you? I'm hoping things are going OK and that you are just catching up on your sleep! Lei--I'm glad I don't like the coconut bark, I've heard it's a bit addictive. So were you happy with the results of BB? Anna--keep me posted on how the mini meals go as far as weight loss, energy, hunger level, etc. I may have to give it another try at some point. It makes sense to me that you would burn more calories that way and probably increase metabolism. Leanne--OK, so what is the story with the frogs! The one in your avi is kind of cool, and kind of gross (not a big frog person here!) and I noticed the quote about swallowing a toad...lol! Also, what does bufodieter mean? Lisa---hope you had a good day yesterday. Will this week be just as crazy? b: yocheese w/apple/cinnamon and pumpkin muffin l: salad w/chicken, cheese, green peppers, sunflower seeds, gg dressing and pb cheesecake muffin d: ground chicken pattie on OMM, celery w/cheese spread and jello fluff exercise--I plan on a 30 min walk at work and then 30 min on mt tonight. OK, my one week of not getting on the scale ends tomorrow--and I don't want to get on! I know it will be up, so I'm trying to get myself prepared to deal with that. I know I will end up with a gain for April--that will be the first time since I started l.c. so it's kind of depressing but hopefully I have learned a few things and I'll get my butt in gear in May! Oh my word!!
I leave for one day and come back to a madhouse.......this place has been busy
![]() Welcome to all the new folk .....I am sure you have read the rules so I am sure I wont be too hard on ya![]() Well this week will be crazy and I have to be brief right now but i have to say that i got a shock this morning when I posted my protein shake in fitday........because I was adding a new brand of peanut butter it was taking my shake from 4g carbs to 11g carbs ![]() The funny thing is that i was just adding the peanut butter to make the shake more nutritious.......so I think I will leave out the peanut butter for awhile and have a plain shake........looks like I really need to use the fitday again for awhile and get back to LC basics with my eating Ok going to do some laundry and I will be back later
