MEAT AND EGG, 3-5 Days or Until You Reach Goal***You Decide***April 1-30 ***

This is for anyone who is considering doing meat/egg challenge You may do this for 3-5 days to get quickly into ketosis or stay on Meat and eggs until goal.

RULES FOR Meat/Egg ---READ THOROUGHLY!
Do this for 3-5 days or until you reach goal!
Eat all the meat and eggs you want, your appetite will naturally decrease in two to three days.
Protein only
Skip unnecessary fats like cream
NO Cheese
Go easy on the mayo
Skip alcohol (yes, all forms!)
Skip junk protein like pepperoni and pork rinds
Try to skip bacon and sausage--you will lose faster-- or at least keep it to 1-2 times a week
Drink diet beverages and plain coffee & tea as desired
Use artificial sweeteners as desired
No calorie counting
No cheating
Have a multi vitamin each day

No Cheating--Remember everytime you cheat you lose a weeks worth of work. It is not worth it!!!

If you have been low carbing for a long time and are having a hard time losing or if you only have a small amount to lose remember CALORIES DO COUNT so you will have better sucess choosing leaner meats and eating smaller portions. You do not have to do only lean meats but it is an important option,

This plan is not written in stone. The important thing is to find a plan that will work for you, let you lose weight, and that you can live with.

If you want the best results then eat ONLY Meat and Eggs, with just enough sugar free condiments to make it work for you, but many people have had great results with a few modifications. It is just like everything else here, modify the plan to suit your own needs. For example, cheese is not allowed but many people include it. Veggies are not allowed but many people include them. Sugar-Free Jello is not on the plan but if you feel like it will help you stay on plan, then by all mean have some.

We are not here to judge but to support and offer some tips to help you along!

Post any tips that you think might help others.

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO **ROCK** - WE SALUTE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the thread start-up, Shadow!

Just a quick check-in before I'm off. . .I'm down 1.0 this morning. Will try to do the fast-5 again today. It seems to keep me from stuffing myself, somehow, if I *know* I can only eat during a certain window. I'll let you guys know later how it goes.

Happy April!!! Here's to a great month of losses and goal-attaining!

Just wanted to say hello and wish you all a wonderful week. I am down to 139 again.......beats the alternative. I am going to work hard to surpass my 137.8 this week. I am even adding a salad in every night which doesn't seem to cause any problems weight wise!

Gracie-The tan is fake.......used the tanning bed this past week while I was off as I didn't want to go back to school and be the only one without a tan! I am soooooooooooooooooo looking forward to the real stuff!!!!

Thank you Shadowzip for the new thread. It is because of this I continue to make progress!

Have a great week ladies! Wishing you all a visit from the whoosh fairy!

Happy April Ladies! I am looking forward to warmer weather!
This morning I was down 2 pounds from yesterday So far today I've had 1 hb egg and 1 egg white and left-over strip steak. Lunch is going to be one rotisserie chicken thigh and a salad. Dinner is a roast that is cooking in the crock pot at home right now. I also walked yesterday for 45 minutes. I am motivated to get this weight off once and for all.

Off subject, is anyone watching the new show on TLC with Paul McKenna called " I can make you thin" ? It's actually really good. They are on the third episode which airs every Sunday night at 9 pm. He covers issues like emotional eating, cravings, etc. I guess he's a doctor of some sort in hypnosis and behavior modification. His suggestions seem to be working for me, anyone else?

Andrea: I'm going to check out the 5 hour fast information, sounds like it's worth a try. I'm thinking my 5 hours would be from 1pm-6pm so I could get in lunch and dinner.

Everyone have a great day!

Shadow....Thanks for the new start each month. You are the best!!

I am UP 0.6 of a pound!! I know this is probably a normal bounce

Gracie...I'll have to look for that show next Sunday nite. It sounds interesting....Now to remember...

Got lots to do today....I'd better get going.

Well, our session ended early today, so they let us go home--yay!!

I have been doing good so far. . .just had my coffee and water so far.

Gracie: When I do Fast-5 I make my window from 2-7 so I can have lunch and dinner, too. It doesn't work when I'm at school, though, b/c my lunch is from 12:15-12:45. I WOULD like to just drink my CL, or water, or tea (I'm trying to like hot tea. . .that's another story altogether) during lunch"time" and then eat my lunch after last period. . .that would be 2:15, and would fit PERFECTLY into my preferred eating window. But, alas, I am afraid of having to hear it from co-workers. "You're not eating?", "Aren't you going to eat?", etc. . .not sure I want to deal. I could move my window to 12-5, but I would never get dinner in by 5. *sigh* I'll have to just keep working it out.

Speaking of working out. . .I posted this weekend that I had excersized for the first time in months this past Friday. Well, tonight I am going to kickboxing class at the Y. I am so excited! I used to LOVE kickboxing classes, but had gotten very lazy, excuse-ish, etc. . .Well, my BFF at work (the one who does WW) and I have committed to doing at least one class a week together for at least the month of April. Actually, during our spring break week, we have committed to going at least TWICE that week. Hopefully this will kickstart my excersize regimen again and help me give all of my excuses the BOOT!

Ok, here's the plan for today's eating:

L: tuna salad (w/ cream cheese, onion, a little mayo, chopped walnuts, spinach/herb mix, a chopped HB egg, some flax meal. . .Mmmm!)
S: some yocheese, probably with some protein powder and a chopped strawberry mixed in (I know, not meat OR egg, but very protein-y)
D: Think I'll make some kind of chicken frittata with the rest of yesterday's rotisserie chicken
S: post-workout protein shake (I'll just get it in w/in my eating window)

Make it a great day!

Tina: I have really just gotten back into doing the Fast-5, so I really can't give you any numbers regarding weight loss. Basically, it boils down to confining all of your eating for one day to within a 5-hour window. I have found that 2-7pm is the window that works best for me (though I am struggling as to how I can do this with my lunch schedule at work). There is an e-book (free) on the first page of this thread:

Intermittent Fasting -- April, 2008

This is a thread that is started every month and there are lots of Fast-5er's in there. They are FULL of information. This month's thread is very short as it's the 1st of the month, but there are pages and pages full of info on the Intermittant Fasting-March thread. Look for it on the main page, under "Other Plans."

HOWEVER, I will say that I feel more controlled with my eating when doing this. I am choosing when to start eating, and since it's not until the afternoon, I actually do a better job of CONSCIOUSLY planning what I'm going to eat for the day. I don't just shovel in food b/c "it's breakfast time" and I'm "supposed to" eat. I find I am paying more attention to how hungry I actually am during the day now. . .and it's not nearly as often as I would've thought.

If you're interested, I'd check out the online book and go back and read the March Intermittant Fasting thread. So many of your questions can/will be answered there.

Gotta go. . .I have to go whip up my tuna salad.

Hi Guys.

back Ruth!

I played an evil April Fool joke on my Providers today. I am out of the office in training so I sent them a long email explaining how I was offered another job at almost twice the salary and I would miss them, etc. I told them to scroll down for the job description and had APRIL Fool in very large letters...I heard from the providers that they almost had a heart attack!! Too funny!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Shadow: Thanks as always for not forgetting us and starting the new thread..

Judy: I'm joining you today, since I GAINED also, but a lot worse than you...I'm UP 1.4 pounds...

the ONLY thing I changed was that I ate a golden flax seed muffin with 2 tsp splenda and some cinnamon....So...it could be that...although they've never stalled me before...or it could just be a BIG weight fluctuation...
Lynnp: You are CRUEL! LOL what a riot! I didn't get to fool anyone today...Glad to see you again...

Cutepixie: I think your goal is perfectly doable and the exercise helps A LOT!

The good news on this side is that even though I wasn't losing weight, the exercise did miracles, I shed 0.5 inches from my waist, hips and arms!!!
I felt my pants lose today so I measured and that lifted my spirits...So all of you who are exercising: Keep it up! It really pays!
I'm expecting a Callanetics DVD and a book, I read it's GREAT and I hope it helps me tone up faster..

Mommie22boys: Thanks a lot for the link I started reading and it makes sense..I did all my eating today before 2:30pm and tomorrow I'll start with the right foot! Thanks!

Tina: Congrats on that terrific loss!! and those treatments, if you can afford them, treat yourself! you probably deserve them! and I'm very happy you'll get to see your hubby tonight! how exciting! let us know what he says about the new you!

Gracie: I would be thrilled if I could drop 2 more pounds like you did! It made my day Saturday when I lost them, hope that scale keeps going down! we can do this!

Speckle:

Everyone I'm missing a big hug and lets do this! Will let you all know tomorrow what the scale says...KUTGW!

Last check-in for today. . .

Went to kickboxing tonight. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow.

<----big baby

I was very good with my eating today. I stuck to the foods I had listed earlier, almost exactly. The only difference is that I added 1/2 slice of whole grain bread w/ some butter when I had my yocheese. I had just 1/12th of the frittata I made before heading to the Y. I have 2 slices packed up to take with me tomorrow to work.

I think eating within my *set* 2-7 window will be a challenge for me tomorrow. The teacher I room with, and eat lunch with for that matter, is my BFF that does WW. She is very good about not commenting on what I eat. I, of course, do her the same favor. . .it's really hard, though, when I see her pull out those 100-calorie cupcakes or heat up a frozen *entree* that's just filled with all sorts of chemical *stuff*. "Don't eat that!" I wanna yell, but I don't. She's my friend. And an adult. I'll let her make her own decisions. I think I'm starting to rub off on her a little, though. Yesterday she said she was going to make a conscious effort to really try to limit her "junk" calories (i.e. those 100-calorie cupcakes), b/c, she says, "just because I CAN eat them and stay w/in my points doesn't mean I SHOULD eat them." "WOOHOO," I wanted to yell. But I didn't, so I just said that was a really good idea.

So, what's the point of all that, you ask? Well, I may be able to hold off on my lunch until after last period of the day, like I want to, if I just explain to her that I'm not NOT eating. . .I'm just choosing to eat later. Of all the people I work with, I think she will be the most inclined to understand or at least not bug me about this. I mean really. . .she has seen me lose all of this weight. I think she knows I'm not crazy. (Well, not about my food choices. . .heh, heh, heh. . .)

So tomorrow's plan is to bring those 2 frittata slices and have them at 2:15. Did I mention that I still drink my coffee in the morning? Can't give that up, I'm afraid. I'll have a small snack about 3:30ish (tuna, maybe), and dinner about 5ish (burger with some cauliflower?). Then my BFF from work and I are going to a hatha yoga class. . .if we can still move after tonight's kickboxing. Maybe a small protein shake after yoga, before my window closes.

That's the plan, anyway. We shall see.

Sorry no personals tonight. . .I think I've yapped on long enough.

Love you guys!!

Had a good time last night, but it was NOT a LC friendly restaurant. Gained some, but it will come off soon so I'm not going to lament. Will have an on-plan day today which will help....then it's out to eat again tomorrow night. Will have a taco salad without the shell tomorrow, so that won't be too bad. Certainly not as bad as last night.

Hi!! to everyone....Gotta run....

Hello!
No weigh-in today for me, I'm gonna wait til Friday. I did walk again yesterday for 45 minutes I have plans to meet my BFF this evening for a nice walk too. So far today for breaky I had 5 sausage links and lunch was a grilled chix salad with chopped boiled eggs. Dinner is going to be the same as ParisFox, a taco salad without the tortilla's.

Angie: It's very odd that you keep bouncing up seeing that you're staying on track. I have a friend who was dieting and instead kept gaining and she was pregnant! I don't want to pry but is that a possibility?

Judy: Enjoy your taco salad, I'll think of you while I'm eating mine!

LynnP: That's hysterical Our local radio station was pulling pranks on
people and they had a young girl (20 yo) call her aunt and pretend that the makers of "girls gone wild" had called her and wanted to use her in an upcoming video. She said it happened while on spring break and she wanted her aunt to call her mom and break the news to her. It was so funny! The aunt was swearing so they had to beep alot out.

Andrea: What exactly are frittatas? I've been trying to stay away totally from anything but whole foods for a while because I seem to lose better. I would make a batch of oopsie rolls and eat the whole thing So lately it's just been basic meats and veggies for me.

Cutepixy: That's a great goal, it's about 2.5 pounds per week! Should be no problem!

Everyone have a great LC day!

Gracie....A frittata is like an omelet that is either cooked part way in a skillet and then finished under the broiler, or easier yet, baked in a casserole dish.

Here's a typical (under the broiler) recipe.

6 eggs, beaten
1-ounce Parmesan, grated
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch salt
1 teaspoon butter
1/2 cup chopped roasted asparagus
1/2 cup chopped country ham
1 tablespoon chopped parsley leaves

Preheat oven to broil setting.

In medium size bowl, using a fork, blend together eggs, Parmesan, pepper, and salt. Heat 12-inch non-stick, oven safe saute pan over medium high heat. Add butter to pan and melt. Add asparagus and ham to pan and saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Pour egg mixture into pan and stir with rubber spatula. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes or until the egg mixture has set on the bottom and begins to set up on top. Sprinkle with parsley.

Place pan into oven and broil for 3 to 4 minutes, until lightly browned and fluffy. Remove from pan and cut into 6 servings. Serve immediately.

You can add just about any ingredients to the beaten eggs...just like an omelet. But this is much easier. AND leftovers can be frozen....

Good Morning everyone!

Well, today I dropped the weight from the flax muffin) I'm at 143.2 HOPEFULLY tomorrow I can reach at least 141.9 I can't wait to get back into the 130's! It's been SOOO difficult that I don't think I'll risk getting out of there once I reach them...

Gracie: You're always so sweet, nothing that comes from you could bother me! I have an IUD with around 4 and a half years left on it, and besides, I'm on my T.O.M so I think THAT accounts for it....I would SOOOOO love to have another child...I'm 27 and (can you believe this) my biological clock keeps ticking...but financially it's definitely NOT the best time to bring a child into this world...Once I start working, I'll start planning another one...so maybe in 3 more years I'll leave you girls, because I know I'll probably eat A LOT during my pregnancy...
Well, thats a lot of explaining....but you got me going! lol

Judy: Enjoy your meal, you always get back on plan right away!

I started the Fast-5, so I'll let you all know what goes on tomorrow..

Don't have more time, so I'll talk to you all later....
Take Care!

I'm back from vacation, along with a bunch of dirty laundry and about 6 pounds. But it was great to eat some good southern food and visit with an old friend. I am back on track today and looking forward to losing a few before summer hits.

I haven't ever told anyone that I only eat once a day, just can't stand people giving me a hard time about not having the standard three meals a day. I have been eating that way for a while. I only eat meat for the most part, a little cheese here and there and a few eggs now and then. I still have my coffee in the morning and then just water the rest of the day and Diet Pop in the evening. I eat when I get home from work after I exercise, around 5 pm and finish before 7 pm or so. This just works better for me, it might not work for everyone or they might not agree with it but that's OK, I like my results.

Sounds like everyone is doing good and working hard KUTGW, you guys are awesome!!!

Evening, everybody!

Just checking in. . .I am still sticking to my Fast-5 ( it was easy to do at work today. . .I just didn't eat at lunch *time* and no one seemed to notice. ) and feel really good! I also did the hatha yoga class today. My weight this morning was down 1.4 from yesterday, making a total of 4.4 pounds gone since Sunday morning.

<---thrilled!

Of course, some of this is from my bounce up over Easter, so I'm not into virgin fat yet. But I'm a-gettin' there! My goal for April is to be 148 by the end of the month. Hopefully I will finally climb down out of the 150's soon. I would LOVE to have to adjust my goals b/c I hit 148 ahead of schedule.

For now, I'm going to keep on doing what I'm doing. I'm sticking with eating w/in my 2-7pm window. . .I feel really good doing it this way. I also found that today, I was actually struggling to eat enough food during my window. How weird is that?? Struggling to eat enough?? Say what?!? It helps when I get busy in the afternoon. . .no time to stop and get hungry.

Gracie: I make my frittata's pretty close to how Judy has listed for you. I can use up leftovers that way, by throwing in whatever's on hand at the moment. Also, I totally hear you about whole foods. I find myself reading labels now like they are books. . .and I spend a lot more time in the produce section and checking out what the meat counter guy has to offer now. I'm also trying to convert my 2 DS's to more whole foods and get rid of anything with high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors. WOW! One or both of those things is in just about everything (it seems) marketed toward children these days. Yikes!

Have a wonderful night, everyone.
